Beautiful Bold Babbling Boma Thread
I'm still fairly new to the Lounge of Tomorrow, so I hate to criticize. But I have noticed a horrible oversite. As of yet there is no thread about my favorite WDW restaurant, Boma. I certainly hope that this oversite is just an innocent mistake, and not an evil plot to deprive the world from discovering and sharing in the 8th Wonder of the World.
So with that said, let the Boma discussion begin. |
Ummmmmm Boboti!
And, I am NOT talking about Flippyshark's IPOD. |
Yeah, that's good stuff. But for me it's the Zebra Domes that make my mouth water.
|
Mmmm . . . Zebra Domes . . .
If only they'd fix the soup situation. |

Wouldn't this be better in the WDW forum? |
Tell me more about the food. I've never been, but I would love to go! :)
|
Well, Boma serves African food in an all-you-can-eat buffet style. The variety of delicious things is absolutely stunning. There are many, many new and interesting items and I love them all! That's really saying a lot since I am NOT a fan of buffets (I actually hate them). Boma and The California Grill are, hands down, my favorite restaurants at WDW. I wish I could just pop over there now. Even my picky eating friends like Boma. It really is that great.
YUM! |
This place intrigues me. I've read/heard really good things about it. If I ever make it to WDW it's high on my to-do list:)
|
Mmmmm...that sounds yummy! I'm not a big fan of buffets, either. But Boma certainly doesn't sound anything like a typical buffet. I love to try different and interesting food.
I'm hungry! Why don't we hop in one of our swanky private jets and head on over? |
Sure! Just pop in a LB Airport and pick me up on the way, ok?

I must try this place next year when I spend a whole 2 weeks in WDW! |
Here's a good menu listing for Boma. Of course, if you don't know what FuFu is, it won't help much. ;)
|
Thanks for the link NA :D
|
Fufu is like a sweet potato mush, and it's delicious. And, silly as it sounds, the mac and cheese they have at the kiddie station is actually really good, too.
Boma's great because carnivores and herbivores can eat at the same restaurant and everyone will get something good to eat. |
The menu's tops at Boma. We did an 8-night stint at WDW right after Thanksgiving. First meal - Jiko for dinner; last meal - Boma for breakfast.
The Boma Breakfast Buffet can't Be Beat (sorry). The one item that was left off the menu Not Afraid linked to is the awesome FRUNCH! |
I an sorely lacking in Breakfast experiences at WDW. I haven't done breakfast at Boma and I haven't had Tonga Toast. I guess I need to go back! ;)
|
First Tonga Toast mention on the new boards!!!!
|
OOOOH! Do I get a prize? Do I get some Tonga Toast next time I'm there?
|
I get to eat at Boma in about 4 months! We'll be doing dinnar and breakfast, I am sure. Plenty of Frunch opportunities!
|
I've never tried the breakfast at Boma. I really want to try to it, but that would require me getting up before noon on one of my days off. That's probably not going to happen.
|
My favorite is the banana bread pudding with vanilla sauce. mmmmmm... And then afterwards you can go look at the animals with night vision goggles!

Mmmm... Boboti....
Boboti is my favorite dish at Boma. So abiding is my love for it that I named my iPod Boboti. Actually, the iPod I carry around these days is named Boboti 2. (Boboti 1 was destroyed when I accidentally dropped it onto an extremely hard concrete surface. If you have an iPod, don't do that.) |
I just realized I like boboti too, only I'd forgotten that's what it's called.
Hope you have better luck with Boboti 2 fs. My iPod's name is Mrs.TheEdge |
Hehehehe! Mrs. The Edge.

OK, who's going to help me get HTH and flippyshark up before noon for breakfast at Boma?

What special things are on the breakfast buffet? |
I can't get up for breakfast mysself when I'm on the East Coast. I will be of NO help for those two restless natives.
|
as i am a carnivore, i'd like to inquire with you experts what recommendations do you suggest for African Meat:D ?
|
I'd be more likely to get them to help wake you up.

That scares me so much, I might not ever sleep again! |
In talking with FlippyShark and Mattercorn Fan, it appears that we are going to actually go to breakfast sometime at Boma. I look forward to the food. I only wish that they served breakfast in the afternoon. We have not set a date yet.

How come you never misspell Flippyshark's name? :p |
Matterhoratio Fan, I have never misspelled your name. I can't believe you would even suggest such a thing.
|
Hmmmm Boma's Zebra Domes. I swear I probably had 10 of those during the week we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I might have to run by there this weekend just to get some Domes!
|
My whole family -- parents, siblings and their wives and children, and I-- ate at Boma a year ago to celebrate my father's retirement. (It capped our weeklong trip to WDW.) Stunning how a restaurant with such unique ethnic foods can cater to the tastes of a group of 15 ranging in age from 1 to 58 and in taste from adventurous to chicken-nuggets-only.
I was especially fond of the available soup. What is this about the "soup situation"? Because the ones I tried were genuinely excellent. Hummus! Multiple kinds of hummus. Even a vegan would be happy at Boma. |
Mmmm . . . the hummus is heavenly.
The "soup situation" . . . well, it's been a loooooooong time since I've gotten Carrot Ginger there. I was under the impression that that was one of their specialties, and it was my favorite. It seems that Plantain Chowder was a one-time-dealio. Butternut Squash . . . it's been a while. Smoky Tomato . . . no thanks. ChickPea? Haha, a waiter there told us to stay away from it, and he's right--that's some weird-tasting stuff. I cannot comment on the non-vegetarian soups since I'm a vegetarian. But I haven't had a *really* good bowl of soup there for a while. :( |
