Cool Days, Warm Beverages
I've noticed like 14 threads about pumpkin lattes, but what about the rest of us? What beverage do you reach for on a cool (or cold) day? Are you on the (apparent) pumpkin latte bandwagon? Do you prefer hot cider or made-from-scratch cocoa? Is there a special tea you like?
Currently I'm drinking Orange Spice black tea from Teavana. (I had Peach Oolong earlier, but the Orange Spice is much more winter/holiday friendly.) |
Since I dont drink coffee or tea I'm sort of limited. But my fav would be a Warm Vanilla from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. YUM-MY!! :coffee:
|
Also, does anyone know how I should spend a Starbucks gift card? I don't drink coffee.

Last Christmas they had some cool games and CD's for sale. I have not seen any games so far this year, but there is always CD's and mugs and such. |
The card isn't for nearly enough to purchase a CD. I guess I'll have to actually go to a Starbucks and see what they've got. And what's "chantico"? I've never heard of that. (Is that a "Starbucks" word? I don't know their lingo.)
I'm currently drinking Peppermint tea. Yes, I've stayed home all day in my PJ's and I'm on my third cup of tea. So what? I also realized that all of the Teavana teas that I've liked enough to purchase tins for begin with the letter P. Peppermint, Peach Oolong, Plum Harvest, Pina Colada. P.S. Does "Starbucks" have an apostrophe in it? Or do I really care? |

The pumpkin latte fans "here" are actually quite far away. But I actually got a bag of ground coffee that I'll be gifting to someone.
|
Chantico is a Starbucks beverage that is concentrated chocolate-y goodness. I think it's like drinking a warm, liquid brownie. $2.65 per small cup here. It's totally worth it.

And that's a good thing. |
I do recommend the caramel apple cider. Very addicting and an excellent choice if you don't like coffee.
Great, now I want one. And if you like your warm beverage with a little something extra, try hot chocolate with a little Butterscotch shot in it. MMmmmmmm. :coffee: + = :D |
I enjoy a nice Soy Hot Chocolate. The butterscotch shot in the cocoa sounds yummy!!
|
Caramel in hot chocolate... two of my favorite flavors! :) Have to try that.
Hot beverages I enjoy: chai lattes from Coffee Bean. They also have this horribly addicting Pomegranate Blueberry Tea latte. Oh. My. Gods. Hot chocolate, of course. I like a lot of tea varieties; my tea shelf at home shows this. Not so much varieties of black or green tea, though I do have some of those, but a zillion herb teas. Starbucks caramel apple cider is fabulous but be warned- it is pretty sweet. Cavity in a cup, anyone? Now I want one. The other thing that's pretty good there is a steamer. Hot steamed milk with a shot of flavor syrup- you can get pumpkin. Avoids the whole bitter coffee dilemma. The other thing I like is having cafe au lait- regular coffee (not espresso) with steamed milk, about half and half. You can get flavor shots in those, too. |
Ice water.
I'm not a fan of hot liquids (from soup to tea to coffee I don't like them), though every once in a while I will have a hot chocolate. But no matter how cold it is, I am still most content with just plain water as cold as liquidly possible. My theory is that the reason cold feels cold is because of the differential between outer and inner temperature. So bring them in balance. |
I like hot green tea.
Or Hot chocolate. Depending on my mood. |
I'm not a big fan of Starbucks, Tullys' or S.B.C. They don't so much roast their coffee as burn it. Ech. Yes, yes, I'm a coffee snob. But I will drink it to flood my system with the vital, nutrient-rich, life-giving caffeine, of which I'm a true and blue addict.
But I do like Teavana. The Thai Tea blend is quite yummy, and I really like their Irish Breakfast blend. |
The burntedness! That's exactly why I never liked Starbucks.
Then I stopped drinking coffee entirely. I think it's better this way. |
Another vote for Chantico. You know, you can get it in a Venti.
I love tea. English Breakfast or Earl Gray. That and hot chocolate. I'll do coffee ocassionally, but it's not my favorite. It's gotta be goood coffee (i.e., NOT Starbucks). |

A vente Chantico...the mind boggles. |

We have a friend who's on a restricted diet (gluton free), so we asked for the ingredients of a chantico to see if she could have it. They are as follows: cocoa, sugar, cocoa butter. Then they steam it with whole milk. That's it. So freaking rich. But really, probably the most natrual thing they sell. |
Hot chocolate with peppermint is a staple here in the cold months. DH is a caramel apple cider kind of guy, not liking coffee or chocolate (how is that possible?)
|
I'm in the test market area for Starbucks new maple products. Mmmmm. The maple macchiatto is so yummy.
I like some blends of Starbucks better than others. Today was Komodo Dragon. I love this one. :coffee: Did you already spend the gift card? I would say try the Chantico. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds super yummy. |

I think I need to try this chantico thing. |

All this and you *still* haven't tried it? Egads! What are you waiting for?! |
I was waiting for a Starbucks to fall into my lap.
Now I'm waiting for the card to fall into my wallet. |
For the second time, I've discoverd the joys of English Breakfast Tea Lattes. Which is odd, becuase I normally drink my tea black, no sugar, no milk. But then again, that's how I drink my coffee too, and yet I like many of the sweetened and flavored drinks out there. Go figure. But I could easily see myself getting hooked on these tea lattes. Mmm.

The Best Drink Ever!
Gotta love the hot chocolate! The good times are never over when the hot chocolate is flowing! I myself prefer Enstien Bagels hot chocolate, very delicious! But the best hot chocolate ever happen when I was in this little coffee shop in Nashville TN, the planets aligned that day my friend!

Einstein's closes too early. I tried to go there today and was greeted by a locked door.
Peach Oolong tea, currently. Last night I had 4 cups of tea. That's perfectly normal--right? |
Four cups... that's in just a couple of hours, right? :) Sounds normal to me. :)
|
In the evenings, I prefer a simple green tea. Most other times of day however, I will drink coffee when I want a warm beverage. I refuse to drink Starbucks though, not being a fan of their roasting techniques at all. I'm hopelessly addicted to Peet's. Luckily, we have on within walking distance. I don't think I have ever had a bad cup there, but I have had some extraordinary ones.
If I'm somewhere that is really cold, like the mountains, I enjoy hot cocoa w/ a shot of peppermint shnappes. |
Alphabasseltgrrl--yes, that was in just a couple of hours. Last night I only had 2 (and a root beer). It's been warm here.
It must've been a cool day when I started this thread--I don't remember it, though. |
But, did you get a Chantico yet??
I always feel like doing a Cornholio impersonation when I say that name...."ChanTICO!" |
No. I was going to do that, wasn't I?
This weekend's trip to Teavana brought three new teas to my home: Night Night, Mate Lemon Blast, and Honeybush Vanilla. So what do I do? I make a cup of Peach Oolong after work today. D'oh! |
[quote=Cadaverous Pallor]But, did you get a Chantico yet??[quote]
OOO that is so good. I can't have a lot of that tho, too much chocolate. I'm a big fan of Cafe Mocha with a shot of Raspberry. YUMMMMMM Course this weather is so funky - it's too hot in the day and cold at night here. |
I like the sound of Night Night. What's in it? I drink Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime in the evenings.
|
I was at traffic school last Saturday. Absolutely miserable. Tired too, since I had to be there at butt-crack-o'-dawn. Ok, 7am, but still, that's freakin' early on a Saturday.
Thankfully I was able to snag myself a gingerbread latte from Starbucks at lunch. It made my day a whole lot better  |
