Coachella 2006

No bands announced yet - though plenty of rumours are circulating the internet - but the dates were announced today:

April 29 & 30

We've been the last two years and enjoyed it more than we thought, so I suspect we'll do what we can to go again this year. Anyone else interested in spending a couple of days in the dessert?

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 12-12-2005 04:30 PM

I think I'll try to make it this year.

Not Afraid 12-12-2005 04:54 PM

Depeche Mode is in the rumor mill - not that I want to see them.

€uroMeinke 12-12-2005 04:55 PM

Depech Mode is rumoured to headline on of the nights - I'm kinda lukewarm about that myself, but another roumor has Roxy Music with Brian Eno playing - I missed Eno play a show at the Roxy in 1980 and have kicked myself ever since for missing it - I will definately want to see that performance.

My wild-ass wishful thining would like to see Kate Bush there as she just released a album after what, 20 years? it'd be a perfect venue considering all the other restarts that have happend there.

€uroMeinke 12-12-2005 04:56 PM

Or I guess one news source has confirmed Depech Mode

Ghoulish Delight 12-12-2005 07:03 PM

Meh on Depeche Mode. I was mildly excited about the prospect of winning free tickets from work to see them at the Pond, but I doubt I'd clambor to see them at Coachella.

Whether we'll go this year...dunno. We're planning on heading to Alaska to see our new baby nephew around that time so we'll see how it fits in time and budget (it's looking like airfare is going to be nearly as much as we paid to get to Paris, for crying out loud!).

Cadaverous Pallor 12-13-2005 10:36 AM

:( I'd love to go but Alaska is going to break us.

I missed the info about you guys going to Alaska. Everyone goes to Alaska but me. I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! BECAUSE I'M JEALOUS OF YOU AND EVERYONE WHO GETS TO GO TO ALASKA!

Don't even get me started on the people who get to LIVE there. BASTARDS!

If it makes you feel any better, it's unlikely we're going to be doing any sort of sight seeing as we'll be spending most of our time getting to know our new sister-in-law and newborn nephew.

I feel a little bit better.

Heh.

I really do hope you guys have a chance to explore at least a little. And, congrats to your family!

libraryvixen 12-13-2005 12:51 PM

EH, I'd go if I didn't have Sedaris tickets for the 30th.

Not Afraid 12-13-2005 02:53 PM

Whew. My Sedaris tickets are for the 23rd.

Drince88 12-13-2005 08:19 PM

Sorry, I fully intend to be viewing some great music at JazzFest at that time. (They SAY they're going to put it on this year - I may have to go more than one day this year!)

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 12-14-2005 01:10 PM

Sedaris? Where? How? What is going on? Why doesn't anyone tell me about these important dates?!

€uroMeinke 01-06-2006 09:24 PM

Not Afraid 01-06-2006 09:49 PM

Well, the 30th got some squeels out of me. Roxy Music with Eno alone would make me faint. I've seen Roxy Music, but not with Eno. It would be one of those life-long dream things.

New Poronographers and The Wedding Present also got some noise, as did the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

On day 1, Portishead would be trancy and fun and Moby is cool live (saw him with Bowie). Massive Attack would be great and the Shins could be interesting. And Franz Ferdinand could be great (not as font of latest effort though).

I always love that there is a lot of stuff I DON'T know and I end up buying lots more music.

Ghoulish Delight 01-06-2006 11:40 PM

Oh crap. Infected Mushroom AND Diesel Boy? Son-of-a........this is becoming too hard to resist.

Cadaverous Pallor 01-07-2006 12:12 AM

DUUUUDE! If that's true, we're going. And you guys have GOT to see Dieselboy and Mushroom! Don't worry, I won't wear my phat pants...
