Who says there is no bi-partisan love in Washington...

Well, it turns out that there is something that can unite Democrat and Republican politicians, an agreement to not pursue ethics enforcement. Who would have imagined?

According to this link:

Quote:

The past year was a tough one for ethics in Congress, and the coming year may be worse. So why is the House ethics committee so steadfastly silent?

Blame it on a deal made in the mid-1990s. That's when, by many accounts, House Democrats and Republicans were each convinced that the opposing party was using ethics charges for unfair political attacks. So both parties agreed to a truce.

"Everybody knew about it," says former Democratic Congressman Chris Bell of Texas. "There was never any formal agreement between the two parties, but it just came to be known that you don't file a complaint against anyone on our side and we won't file a complaint against anyone on your side."
So what exactly is the purpose of having an ethics committee in which both sides have agreed to not file complaints against each other? I suppose the simple answer is that, with the current agreement, both sides win and we all lose.

Damn, that's a depressing state of affaris if it's true.

Oh that Washington. I thought you were talking about me and BT.

I thought this was going to be some sort of Romeo and Juliet thread like a Mary Matalin and James Carville thing going on.

Like maybe Maxine Waters and Trent Lott hookin' up?

Don't you think the man's sphincter has seen enough destruction?

scaeagles 01-12-2006 12:28 PM

Sac, don't confuse love with the need for small appliances and raw animal lust.

Ghoulish Delight 01-12-2006 12:40 PM

Animal lust? Careful there, scaeagles, you don't want to end up on Shallit's "predator" list.

scaeagles 01-12-2006 12:50 PM

Please note that it was GD who referred to MBC as a predator, not me. I'm just a businessman.

Do you (and by 'you' I mean scaeagles) need a refresher course on the meaning of pronouns?

scaeagles 01-12-2006 01:03 PM

What do you mean by "I"? Those confusing pronouns.....

My bad. I'm always doing that. If I had a dollar bill for every time I told a stripper I loved her....I'd have a fat stack of ones to take to the strip club tonight.

I dunno. I think the Red Hot Chili Peppers said it best:

And the best part is you'd get them all back to go again tomorrow.

scaeagles 01-12-2006 04:02 PM

Small appliances, you mean? I was talking about you, actually. :)
