Self-awareness: do you and I agree about me? about you?
The Johari Window is taking the blog world (or, at least my personal microcosm) by storm.

Based on the results so far...y'all don't remember me when we first met. I'm a far different person with people I've just met.

It seems to be working again, btw.

Nope, just tried. We broke it. ;)

Heh, so far, everyone but me thinks I'm intelligent ;)

Oh, and it's working again, btw |
Aaaaaand it's down again.

'Site overloaded'
Yeah, that kinda describes me. :D |
|
Not working.
|
It comes and goes. I got on at different times today.
|
I guess we know who scored higher for patience...

Interesting results. Not sure I buy this completely but, on a simplistic level, it is interesting.
|
I think what it does it tells you how other's view you - the more people who respond, the more trends you see in the scores.
If those are at odds with the way you see yourself, it could be a bit revalatory. I am curious about how the descriptors were chosen, many seem similar to me, and some are missing altogether. So far I've learned that above everything else, people seem to think I'm smart. So I guess that's cool, though I probably value some of the other traits more. |
Okay- here's mine:http://kevan.org/johari?name=Wendybeth
I managed to answer one person's, then the site locked up. |
I did it in another venue. Without also having negative attributes on the list it seems pretty one sided (there's a big difference between "you're smart" and "you're a prick about being smart"), though more interesting than most of these are that go around the internet.
|
However, some words may have a negative implication to depending the reader and the writer, and what is understood and perhaps unsaid between them. Someone who's always considered themselves, foward, agressive, cutting-edge, etc... Might be offended if someone didn't think along those lines. There's a positive spin and a negative to just about every attribute.
Connotations, baby... |
|
|
|
There are very few negative ones - nervous, self-conscious - but would anyone actually pick those for a friend. Telling someone they're self-conscious may not be the best idea for a self-conscious person ;)
This "test" is limited but definitely fun anyway. |
I love reading the varied responses! Especially in seeing how people view GD and I in comparison.
Gemini Cricket thinks I'm the sensible and dignified of the two - riiiight. ;) |

Finally, the site wasn't overloaded, so here's mine: Lizzie's Johari
|
Sometime after we've all responded to all we're going to, I'd be interested in hearing what really surprised people. But not before, because I don't want to skew results.
|
Hmmm....why don't I think anyone will pick "warm" or "loving" for me????

I behaved on yours, too, so I need to mess with someone. Where are Sac and MBC????
|
Lol!!! I just saw that- ty!
Yeah, where are those two at, anyway???? |

I think what's also interesting it to see what remains in the "unknown" quadrant, While I may be intelligent, clever, wity, ingenious, etc - I seem to be missing out on the loving, caring giving, which might be a subtle way of spelling out Alex's "Smart/Prick" archtype. |
Leo says I am caring. I'm all choked up. I need a moment...
:D |
You know, I'm such a dinglecheese. I didn't see that you could pick six. I only picked 5 for everyone. I apologize.
D'oh! :D |

'Dinglecheese'- lol! I don't think I've heard that one before....
Scaeagles, in all honesty you could be described as warm: when you talk of your family. In politics, you be the Iceman.;) |
you broke it again, wenchybeth;)

Wow! Most of the traits I picked were unknown to others... Guess I need to get out more! :D
I really liked the ones that were picked though...hmmmn. Time to look the old self over a bit, methinks. I was wondering about the lack of "negatives" too, but now that I think about it...why? I mean, would I need some of those terms to describe myself? Gosh, I guess so. I'm thinking of stuff like: self-absorbed, anti-social, dishonest, selfish, greedy, jealous. Not that I'd choose those in particular, but shouldn't they be there? (I might have chosen the first couple...;) ) |
Ok, I guess I'm late to the party. I had a flat tire. :)
http://kevan.org/johari?name=motorboat cruiser |
Now wait a second, how can my "blind spots" be: intelligent, knowledgeable and observant
I'm blind to how observent I am? It seems a bit of a contradiction. :) Plus the chart forgot: Cute and Cuddly. |

Can't do it, Erica. I don't know your 'dark side', so I couldn't really find anything to hit on there.
Now, if Scaeagles wants to give it a shot....;) |
I'm so far behind!

Mark me down as late to and reluctant to join the party (is there an adjective on the list for that?): http://kevan.org/johari?name=matterhorn%20fan

Wow - do we want to mess with the dark side? Can we do this without hurting each others feelings? I'm brave enough to post mine, but I don't know if I'm brave enough to click on anothers. scaeagles' dark side Also, I don't know if I would be qualified to post about such things with those I interact with on a message board here. Everyone here is pretty polite, with the occassional spat here and there.....I don't know how much of someones true "negative" self can come out here. |
^ I think it's true that one's MB persona can be pretty, um, unreal. Still, I'm really doing this for myself, so I don't mind letting it all hang out. You folks have proven to be very trustworthy to me. Now, to click on your nohari-window, scaegles...I'm curious! :D
ETA: I did it. I'm just looking at the negative ones, not choosing descriptors (you can click on the link at the bottom to peek without playing). I'm interested in seeing how we view ourdarkselves; I don't think I know enough to choose words like that for any of you. Yet. Heh. I see blueerica and I have a couple in common... |
|
I won't be showcasing anyone's dark side.
One's enemies do enough of that. |

So true. I've known NA for years and I was really shocked at most of what she chose (there was one we shared that isn't so bad, but meh, I'm sure we both hate it). How cool is that, though? To know that our negative self-image is not what others see??
|
Here's my Darkside:
http://kevan.org/nohari?name=cemeinke Though I was dissappointed that the antonym they chose for "religious" was "unethical" instead of "Blasphamous" |
W00t! I share with Chris too!
Come to the dark side...we have cookies. :D |
And the cookies are Devilishly good!
|
uh oh - am I the only one to comment on people's nohari's?
|
That was some other Chris

[derail] what are you two doing online on V-day night???[/derail]

Feel free to respond, doesn't bother me (you bastards). |
I had to whittle my original "bad" list down from 13
|
I'm starting to see a pattern here *takes notes*.
|
THis is actually harder because once I get into a "groove" of characterizing a person I tend to stay in that same groove.
|
"so what did you do on Valentines Day?"
"Oh, I just went online systematically insulted all the people I love" |
Oh, not insulted at all...luckily, even though stuff is showing up in my "blind spot," I'm pretty self-aware. Oh, but I guess less insecure than I've always believed, LOL!
I haven't mentioned this before, but I freaking LOVE the word "aloof." ALOOF ALOOF ALOOF! Man, that's a great word! |
Heh "aloof" is a given since we're all part of this elitist clique ;)
My other favorite is "chaotic" |
I belong to this other board that has a million smiles for almost every possible situation, but alas, "aloof" and "chaotic" are not among them. Sheesh I'd love to see those smilies!
|
The people brave enough to actually input on others have my respect. I originally thought that I could not fill in for another, but I am intrigued (and not offended in the least) by the responses of the two that have contributed.
Some words I can see even if I did not choose them myself. Others kind of made me laugh and wonder what I've done to make someone perceive me that way. I'm actually much more fascinated by this than the "positive" version. Because of that fascination I am wondering if I should do it for (to?) another. |
Heh - you know I won't take offense
|
I only get to choose 6? http://kevan.org/nohari?name=ethelberga
|
Go ahead, Leo. What are we gonna do, stretch your sphincter?
|
MBC might take offense at you applying for the job he wants.
|
Hmmm, if you don't get anyone to comment - I wonder what they really think about you...
|
I refuse to let my dark side out on this board.
:aloof: |

I had a hard time answering other peoples'! So much that I signed my name with something positive about each person. I don't like putting out negative mojo, it's not really my style. But I'm brave, and I'll accept what anybody has to say about me.
|
Is it bad if I really *like* one of the negative attributes?

Also, where is the "obsessive" descriptor? Surely that would have been the first one I'd have clicked for myself. There seemed to be a lot of missing pejorative examples I would call myself.
Also, past one or two of the "aloof"s and "loud"s, does anybody else have trouble coming up with negative traits for the people around them? It requires that you enter five, and I don't think I actually know five nohari descriptors for anybody here. |

Great. Now we crashed nohari.
|
I didn't know I was extroverted. This is definitely news.
|
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's those Aries traits that make you so much liike me. |
I wanted to put "stubborn," but that wasn't a choice. It would have been the first thing I clicked.
|
BTW, Lisa, your Nohari comments refer to you "SPACE NAZI" mode. ;)

Well, everyone must love me, because my nohari has only 1 contributor! Come'on some one hate me!!! ;)

I can't, Bornieo- not even as a joke! I know, I just tried. I got stuck on 'needy', and that's as far as I could go....:D
Gotta stop being so sweet, dear. |

It's actually kind of fun to see how different groups of people respond. Right now mine are LoT folks compared with Cit+ people from way back. I think the nohari one is the most interesting, because the Cit folks have way more dirt on me.:D

Alright Lisa and Chris....I did your nohari. Happy now????
I'll go slam on other people later today. :) |

And "TALL" isnt on the chart! |
I find what has been posted about me to be very interesting.
In the Johari, there have been 13 respondants, and 30 attributes listed. Not one of those attributes is above 50%, and only 2 are above 30%. I wonder what that means. In the Nohari, I have only 3 respondants, with 13 attributes listed. Only two are selected more than once, and one of them really amused me. Dispassionate? I would never, ever describe myself as dispassionate. The other listed twice - boastful - well, I can certainly understand that being selected. And by the way, I believe I have now done both johari and nohari for everyone with a link posted here. If I have missed anyone, I apologize. Let me know if I missed you and I'll get to it. An I really do want nohari responses. I find them to be really interesting. |
Me thinks I don't know myself very well, and that you people are too nice.
Although, self-concious seems to be tried and true. "Complex" is rather surprising, but it's making me grin. I hope to get to everyone's eventually. But I've been working between 10 - 13 hours a day for the past couple of weeks, so it may be a while... |
Grr, I keep forgetting to get caught up on this at home. Don't worry, I'll get around to bashing everyone ;)
|
While I'm working on beating others up (the library computers apparently are ok with me doing this in public) I invite you to beat me up. http://kevan.org/nohari?name=cadaverouspallor
|
Even if you even only know me as an aquantaince or enemy please fill mine out positive and negative I really could use the info to check my preceptions this kindof isn't a game or curiosity right now.
Added::: (was going to pankake as that would make most fearfull to post... But it's honest and I trust most here anyhow really don't worry I am asking for and can more than take it. (after what I did to myself johari-smohari nohari-notatallharry. Heh )) Quote:

There' a lot of people around here that need to get crackin' on this.
Here I was happily going about my business, having filed in the back of my mind the johari/nohari windows, and then CP has to resurrect it. Well, since she has and only 4 people have filled in my nohari, get to it, people! |
