The Spoiler Avoidance Thread

It's time for me to dig myself a little hibernation burrow.

The Haunted Mansion is apparently getting some upgrades and changes. I've already heard one rumor and I think that's plenty, thank you very much. I haven't opened the Mansion thread and I skipped that part of Al's update.

Add on to that the whole Pirates rehab thing. It's going to be a long 4 months of avoiding all those spoilers.

I really want to be surprised and judge things for myself. Not to mention that I hate being led on by rumors that turn out to be BS.

I declare this a spoiler-free distraction area.

Ooh look SHINY!

Don't tell me he told you about the new merchandise kiosk stop they added to the attic scene?

Cadaverous Pallor 02-28-2006 02:29 PM

You are now under my power.....you will not spoil stuff for me.....you will send me money via PayPal.....

Obeying the Shiny makes you feel good, disobeying makes you feel bad....

Heh. Actually, what I heard was exciting, but damn I wish I'd seen it with my own two eyes before hearing about it. If it is even true, that is. Grrrr.

Shiny heals all wounds.....

Janie 02-28-2006 03:55 PM

(drooling)

Oh my.....I like that pretty picture.........

innerSpaceman 02-28-2006 04:03 PM

If it will make you feel any better, CP, the current crop of Al Lutz spoilers looks (to me) like the zapppop spoiler was a feint in the wrong direction. Your surprise level will probably prove unmolested.

Yay. Although that other thing would have been cool too.

Not Afraid 02-28-2006 04:25 PM

THe funny thing about spoilers is that we still don't know if they are really true or not.

BarTopDancer 02-28-2006 04:33 PM

But they give us SHINY!!!!!!

All hail the SHINY!!!!!!!!

Like I said in the OP, I hate being led on by rumors that turn out to be BS.

Remember the rumors about ripping out the ropes at Redwood Creek? After that I decided to put zero stock in rumors that my eyes couldn't confirm.

Heh, but wasn't that some of the most fun you've ever had at DCA? And we did it before Brother Bear took over - that has to count for something.

Not Afraid 02-28-2006 04:50 PM

Yes, but if you don't believe them why avoid hearing them?

That was so. much. fun!

Not Afraid 02-28-2006 04:58 PM

It was. Good times.

Two reasons, both of which I mentioned in the OP.

1. I really want to be surprised and judge things for myself. Last big change, I knew that Leota would float. How cool would it have been to walk in and see that without knowing beforehand?

I can still remember the first time I saw the HMH evil wreath hanging in the hallway, swinging a light fixture with a leafy arm and looking for all the world as if it would eat us. I had no clue it would be there, and I was surprised and delighted. Day guests have that feeling all the time - can't I at least have it once?

2. I hate being led on by rumors that turn out to be BS. What if I was told something ridiculously awesome would be in there, but it wasn't? Then whatever was in there, no matter how cool, wouldn't be as good, and I'd be disappointed. Even if it was better than advertised, I'd still feel led on and lied to.

Spoiler:
OOOOH SHINY!!!!!!

Yup, definitely a good day - which taught us to expand our horizons and come up with new things to do.....and not always groaning if they're sometimes in DCA.

Or the fun we had on Tom Sawyer Island when we were "sure" the rope bridge was going to be history. Heheh, probably the most fun I've had there in years.

That it turned out not to be true was merely icing. But I loved believing it, since it inspired so much extra-powered enjoyment.

I bet we'll have a lot of fun riding Pirates this weekend, and Johnny Depp will never even show his robotic face!

Well, if we didn't "know" that Johnny Depp was going to appear in Pirates we'd never have a meet.

If we didn't "know" the rope bridges were disappearing or TSI was going to be re-done we wouldn't have done that stuff either. ;)

Not Afraid 02-28-2006 05:17 PM

EXACTLY!

That's why I LOVE spoilers! Information - good or bad - leads to FUN!

There's always Talk Like a Pirate Day :)

Disneyphile 02-28-2006 05:28 PM

I know what you mean about rumors.

I still cling on to morbid hope that the red long johns rumor is true. :(

:p

innerSpaceman 02-28-2006 05:32 PM

Hmmm, can it be mere coincidence that the person who squelched the long johns rumor just as it was getting world-wide credence is the same person who hates hearing rumors of new attraction elements?

(But don't think I'm anti-spoiler avoidance. I totally respect that, and will do my best to honor it.)

Oh, she was definitely too late. I've seen that rumor posted on freaking German Disney message boards.

(They'll be using it as joke material for next year's Halloween Haunt at Knott's) :iSm:

Definitely not a coincidence. :)

Remember, I have since stated that I will no longer be a factor in that....you may go ahead and spread your misinformation, sweetie. :p I think your worst enemy on that front these days is Disney itself, which has let the red longjohns turn nearly white in the sun.

Such is the proper period of morning

Not Afraid 02-28-2006 07:30 PM

You may stop mourning for the dead at Disneyland when the longjohns turn pink.

HA!

mousepod 02-28-2006 07:44 PM

I am soooo tempted to post a ton of fake spoilers that I just made up. But that shiny thing is telling me to be good... for now.

€uroMeinke 02-28-2006 07:46 PM

How about rumors about the shiney thing?

CoasterMatt 02-28-2006 07:51 PM

The shiney thing is a new effect for Space Mountain: Rockit Thru Nighttime Party Fun Space Ships...

Not Afraid 02-28-2006 07:51 PM

It's the Second Star to the Right. It took acid and keeps having flashbacks.

Cadaverous Pallor 02-28-2006 08:11 PM

You will believe everything you read online....especially things that are posted by swankers....

To not believe swankers will cause you great pain.....

BarTopDancer 03-02-2006 10:31 AM

I have to hide in here, I haven't watched Lost yet :(

Not Afraid 03-02-2006 10:40 AM

The latest rumors from DL c/o MousePod and me:

Disney is taking "Synergy" to a new levels with the latest changes to several attractions.

  • The reason that the parrot is gone from the front of PotC is because they're putting him on top of the coffin or replacing the raven on top of the tree as you go backwards into the graveyard.
  • The raven is going into the Tiki Room
  • The Ghost of the Vultures from Splash will be placed in Pirates replacing the missing parrot.
  • Davy Jones from PotC 2 will be put into PotC and Davy Jones from the Monkees will be put into It's a Small World
  • When someone dies on a ride, their face mysteriously appears in the new HM seance room.....floating through space wearing red long johns
And, it's all true!

Now, that's Synergy!

Ghoulish Delight 03-02-2006 10:43 AM

How does a face wear red longjohns?

Cadaverous Pallor 03-10-2006 12:03 PM

Noticed the other day that the "red" longjohns at BTM have a red light on them at night. This makes them much more noticable and much redder. Why would they go to these lengths?  :decap:

I've realized that I'm going to need this thread for a while, since the Mansion will be putting out changes slowly, supposedly.

Mousey Girl 03-13-2006 07:46 AM

The new episodde of My Gym Partner's a Monkey was all about the power of the shiney. "Pretty pretty, shiney shiney" It made me think of this thread.

All i could think was... wow, I wish I was home to quote this.

Cadaverous Pallor 03-13-2006 10:14 AM

Everyone loves the shiny.

We visited the Mansion but no worries, I won't post spoilers....because there's nothing to spoil. Nothing is different. I noticed one audio change that's so geeky it doesn't bear repeating. Everything looks wonderfully clean and sounds great, but there aren't any changes yet.

It is exciting to have it back, though. It's been since September.

innerSpaceman 03-13-2006 08:11 PM

Yes, September. Count the months, and then tell me if it's worse having Space Mountain only half the day or Haunted Mansion only half the year.

€uroMeinke 03-14-2006 12:05 AM

Somewhere I have a Hazy Fantazy single that I'll have to rip and post to this thread.

I think I'll go watch Quills now...

I have no judgement yet on Rockit Mountain ;)

BarTopDancer 03-14-2006 01:08 PM

If Rock-It Mtn totally sucks at least one can put on head-phones and hear the original music.

innerSpaceman 03-14-2006 04:42 PM

But you can't be in outer space when you're in an 80's roller-disco!

He's referring to the fact that Rockit Mountain will have new visual effects. Simply wearing headphones won't cover that.

Since I rode Mission 2 in Paris, I'm not too worried about Rockit - Mission 2 was great.

BarTopDancer 03-14-2006 05:12 PM

Thank you CP. :)

innerSpaceman 03-14-2006 07:00 PM

From what I've seen, I'm thinkin' more like Rock'n'RollerCoaster than DLP's Space Mountain Mission Deux.

Ponine 03-15-2006 08:57 PM

None can resist the power of the shiny.
Come over to the shiny side..................
All are welcome.... :)

Pretty pretty shiny shiny.....

Yeah... the same episode of My Gym Partner's a Monkey was on tonight

CoasterMatt 03-15-2006 09:44 PM

I've got a better light show in my computer case than Rockit Mountain ;)
