LoT freecycle

I went to the dreaded Wal-Mart about a month ago (I really needed a muffin tin and Target didn't have one, what was I gonna do?) and while perusing through the ridiculously cheap dvd's found Defenders of Universe (no, I didn't forget the "the"), for $1. It looked Transformers-ish, so I picked it up. It is a dubbed Japanese anime. The worst one you could ever possibly see. Hilarious things occur all throughout. Scenes reused over and over again, people standing near glass and their reflections being completely different people, etc. Not to mention that whoever did the voice over doesn't speak very good english, so the inflections are off quite a bit, making for a very funny action anime. I don't want to spoil it too much, so I won't say anymore.

Everyone who likes anime should watch this, as well as people who just want a good laugh. So, if anyone wants to see this gem of a disgrace to anime, PM me and I'll ship it to you for free (it's in a small dvd case, it shoudn't cost more than $1). The only thing I ask is that you be willing to ship it to the next person that wants it.

That is if there is anyone but me that really likes seeing bad movies. This one is oh so bad.

tracilicious 03-06-2006 03:37 PM

Seriously? No one wants to see this horrible goodness?

I found this blurb about it online.

Ponine 03-06-2006 03:43 PM

I'll play... No, I dont want to see your movie T, but

Does anyone want my dvd version of...

A Guy Thing ??

wendybeth 03-06-2006 04:03 PM

'Cabin Boy'? Anyone?

Ponine 03-06-2006 04:08 PM

We were talking about that movie at the Pirate meet!!!

mousepod 03-06-2006 04:17 PM

If wendybeth is offering up her "Cabin Boy" - someone better grab it! I have the laserdisc and the DVD - what an underrated flick. I'm sure that wendybeth has multiple copies of this classic, why else would she get rid of it?

(maybe she's just seen it so many times that she's committed it to memory)

wendybeth 03-06-2006 04:23 PM

You're one of them Fancy Lads, aren't you?

:D

Too late- Traci gets Cabin Boy. Maybe if you're really nice to her, lay some mojo around, etc, she'll take pity on you and share.

Oh, wait- anime...You mean you prefer that 'Defenders' to 'Cabin Boy'?

Sweet. I'm at the same level of interest. I've seen enough to know I like the genre and to keep a conversation going for a minute with someone that knows their stuff. I'm by no means an expert though. Not even close. I'm not giving away the funniest/weirdest part of the movie. I'll have to see if you guys think of the same part.

PM/IM me the address that you want it shipped to, and I'll send it right away.

Cabin Boy really is hilarious. I like dumb/funny though, as long as it's done well. I really like the guy that plays the Dad.

Cadaverous Pallor 03-06-2006 09:44 PM

I feel the need to warn everyone that Cabin Boy is THE worst movie I've ever paid to see.

Carry on then. ;)

Hmm, I need to dig around and see what I have for trade.

Prudence 03-06-2006 11:24 PM

Robin Hood: Men in Tights is the worst movie I've ever paid to see. But since I don't own it, I can't trade it.

mousepod 03-06-2006 11:26 PM

Before I head off to the vault and find something to freecycle - I need to address the dismay that I feel over the heresy that has been so casually tossed at the gentle Chris Elliott. For those of you who, like me, feel that Mr. Elliott is one of the truly undervalued comic geniuses of our time, I present this.

And now for my freecycle:
I have a pristine copy of the rare GRIND CRUSHER compilation cd, released in the US in 1990 by Combat & Earache Records.

The tracks are:
1. Morbid Angel "Chapel of Ghouls"
2. Repulsion "Radiation Sickness"
3. Carcass "Exhume to Consume"
4. Godflesh "Streetcleaner"
5. Terrorizer "Dead Shall Rise"
6. Hellbastard "Justly Executed"
7. Carnage "Malignant Epitaph"
8. Naked City "Osaka Bondage"
9. Filthy Christians "Extremely Bad Breath"
10. Old Lady Drivers "Colostomy Grab-Bag"
11. Intense Degree "I've Got A Cure"
12. Sore Throat "Horrendify and Kill"
13. Napalm Death "Malicious Intent"
14. Entombed "But Life Goes On"
15. Nocturnus "BC/AD"
16. Bolt Thrower "World Eater"
17. Lawnmower Deth "Satan's Trampoline"
18. Cadaver "Hypertrophian"
19. Sweet Tooth "Fat City"
20. Mighty Force "Thrashing a Dead House"
21. Spazztic Blur "He-Not-A-Home-Me-Marco"
22. Heresy "Release"
23. Unseen Terror "Divisions"
24. Napalm Death "You Suffer"

$1.50 for postage (or an equally absurd trade) and it's yours

wendybeth 03-06-2006 11:34 PM

(Hmmm...wondering if I should post some of Tori's musical library here....)

I luv Chris Elliot! I also love Cabin Boy, but I know I have absolutely no taste when it comes to comedy. Still, CP's revelation that she actually paid to see the movie was a bit disturbing.

tracilicious 03-07-2006 12:27 AM

I also love Robin Hood Men In Tights.

'Monkeybone' - worst movie I ever paid to see.

Hey now... I liked that.

Cadaverous Pallor 03-07-2006 11:40 AM

I also paid to see Mom and Dad save the world. Definitely among my top 5 of worst movies I ever paid to see. (I was an SNL freak at the time and couldn't pass up Jon Lovitz.)

I paid to see Cabin Boy because I was 14 and had a group of rambunctious friends. We knew it would be bad and went on purpose. It was way worse than we expected. Had fun anyway, because the theater was literally empty, so we were as noisy as we wanted to be. Ah, memories of the now-gone Fallbrook GCC 7...

wendybeth 03-07-2006 11:58 AM

Having a kid with even worse taste than myself, I've paid to see more stupid movies than I can count.

Snowflake 03-08-2006 04:53 AM

For those who desire them and they're not bad, either:

Paris Combo - Motifs
At Last - Cyndi Lauper

Hey Snowflake,

We should tell Erica about that Cyndi Lauper album - it's the one where she covers "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood"!

I have 1 license and the CDs for a copy of Microsoft Office XP for Students and Teachers.

So - I finally saw it tonight...and goodness what a feature. Take a giant robot (Zinga7) and shove a freight train full of children up it's ass (Super Express) and you've got an invincible weapon - or so seems the premise of this film.

I loved how all the names were anglicized - General Larry and his son Kent, Prince Cyprion and his sister Susan. The evil Master Alfred and his Mistress Helen. Best was when one alien turns to the other and says, "Shoot him Ray"

Loved that the bad guys got their power from the "central motivating unit" and the cry of distress, "Ahh, we've been segmented!"

A delight, in an odd way - seen only because Lisa is on an overnight pet sitting gig and I know she's have never made it past the opening title. Still next time, I'll probably just download porn.

So who's next? I should be seeing some of you in person fairly soon, any takers?

Anyone have a working lawn mower they want to see for cheap?

JWBear 01-03-2009 01:02 PM

I was going through my Christmas stuff and culling the stuff I no longer need or use. If anyone wants any of the following Disney stuff, just let me know.

1999 limited edition Castle and SM ornaments. One of the spires on the SM ornament has broken off, but I still have the piece. It can be repaired easily. Both are in their original boxes

A limited edition Merryweather ornament - it's quite large. In original box.

A Winnie The Poo mug:

And lastly, a small Poo figurine (not a tree ornament).

Disneyphile 01-03-2009 01:18 PM

JWB - I'll take all of 'em, please! They would make a lovely addition to our home during the holidays! :)

Also, I have a small George Foreman grill up for grabs. It's perfect for 1-2 people without taking up much space. It can grill 2 burgers or 1 steak at a time. It is black in color and was only used about a dozen times. It works perfectly and is clean.

JWBear 01-03-2009 02:28 PM

Thanks DP! I knew someone here would want to give them a good home.

The hardest part of downsizing my collection is that I didn't want to throw away or fold the inserts in either my CDs or DVDs.

For the DVDs, I found a company that sells binder inserts that hold the discs and the artwork/booklet on ebay.

For the CDs, I came close to getting binder inserts, but I decided against it. All of the commercially available binder pages for CDs don't hold the tray card (without folding it). Bags Unlimited have just released inserts that purport to solve the problem, but when I received them, it turns out that they are poorly engineered.

In the end, I went with JewelSleeves. They are thin and sturdy, and have separate pockets for the CD, booklet and tray card. Once we move, I'll buy one (or two) of their cabinets for the collection.

There's another company called DiscSox that makes similar CD sleeves as well as neat DVD booklet-style protectors, but JewelSleeve's design has a slight edge (top loading).

Very true. I just snapped these with my iPhone to show the sleeves:

On the front picture, I pulled the CD partly out. It actually sits in its own pocket behind the booklet. The sleeves are heavy (6-gauge vinyl), so they do a good job protecting the paper.

Oh! Thanks for the recap! I did miss that.....

It's a great idea! I do have a lot of books to get rid of. Mostly fiction and hard cover and all in like new condition.

BarTopDancer 01-06-2009 12:08 PM

Amazon.com is a easy way to sell electronics, DVDs and books. The USPS flat rate envelope makes for a simple way to mail your sales too, if it fits.

RStar 01-06-2009 02:50 PM

The book market has gone downhill so much that it's just not worth it to try to sell used books. $1-2 each just isn't worth my time. I have unused signed first edition hard cover books that I can't get $5 for when they use to sell for $50- $100 ten years ago.

Laptop RAM - 2x 512MB PC3200

Upgraded the memory in my laptop, and am unlikely to find a use for this my own self in the future. Details:

Super Talent 512MB DDR-400 PC3200 SO-DIMM

These modules aren't worth enough to try selling. I'm more than happy to mail them to you (snail mailing RAM is cheap...), but I insist that they go to a loving home where they'll be installed and be the holders of your precious data, and not to sit in a dusty drawer somewhere. (I guess just using one is fine, but you'll get both :)

It has, but I've been a slow and steady seller on amazon and some other items on ebay. Suprisingly, I've sold some books that have multiple listings for .01 for $5 on amazon (Scott berg's bio of Charles Lindbergh as a case in point) I stuck it up for $5 with tons of competing books from $5 down to .01. It took a little while, but it sold just before Xmas. The truly rare I will post on ebay first or price accordingly on amazon. It may take a while, but so far, I can't complain. I've also weeded down the DVDs, but on those I priced them to sell, I did not make a profit, but in this economy, every extra $5 helps. I think if you are selling on amazon, it pays to scan the cover (if there is not one), check for multiple listings on the same book/DVD and if it's collectible, make sure you mark it as such. A good desciption is also helpful.

That's just my .02, but like the tortoise, slow and steady has been working for me.

I've also weeded down the DVDs, but on those I priced them to sell, I did not make a profit, but in this economy, every extra $5 helps. Thanks Snowflake. That's kind of you to help. My mom was the book seller on Amazon. But there got to be so much competition that her sales went from thousands a month to hundreds. Then as ebay picked up books would just sit there and she might sell just a few a month for $5-10. Not much of a living when that was your only income. Now she has a job where I work.

I sell a lot on ebay, and the picture and description are very important. As is your feedback. I think someone would rather pay $5 for something to someone with 100% possitive feedback rather than one cent to some power seller with 437 negitives in one month. I know I do.....

I would hope that many would. I also hope that every school in this country allows their students to see it. Black, white, Dem, Rep...we should give all of our children the chance to see a moment of such historical significance.

Cabinet lights? Exterior, interior, mounting? Kitchen or book shelf appropriate?

Betty 02-10-2009 02:10 PM

We use lights in our cabinetry. They are built in and turn on by touching the metal hinge they are connected to.

These would be lights from another manufacturer but I'm guessing they are similar. I have no idea why we aren't usign them... perhaps they aren't as good?

I'm told there are also plastic inserts for cd's that we used to put in our wholesale cabinets.

I'll get some photos tomorrow and post them.

We are in Perris and they would need to be picked up from here.

Capt Jack 02-10-2009 02:13 PM

Perris is cool. pick up would be no issue here.

Betty 02-10-2009 06:37 PM

I'll go check and see what condition they are in. I'm told that alot of the stuff is boxed up.

The cd holders are not cd cases. It is a plastic insert, if I remember it right, that has ridges and edges to it to hold a collection of cd's in a long row in a cabinet. I'm not sure if they were glued in, screwed in, or set in place in a groove or something. We haven't used them in many years.

I'll take photos of everything tomorrow though and post them.

Morrigoon 02-12-2009 02:38 PM

Fascinating collection.

Capt Jack 02-12-2009 02:58 PM

a few questions. general answers are ok. not looking for precision

how big (ie: heavy) are the industrial lights?
are there more or just those 8? they look freakin huge. I'll take as many as the truck can hold. Im hoping the lenses come off of the electronics. that'd make it easier

Im also up for some of the cabinet lights, dimmers and some of the baskets for sure. CD stuff too, but surely not all. will look thru the random stuff as well...you never know.

Im off monday and can arrange for other time off as needed.
but yeah, Im in. feel free to PM me and we'll work out a meet.

There are more than 8 lights but the rest will be used by new tenants in the building. You can see that 4 fit on a pallet. I did not try picking them up to see how heavy they are - but they appear to be a thick glass so I'd imagine they are pretty heavy.

I would prefer you take the entire lot of whatever it is you want. i.e. take all the dimmers and not just a box. You said you'd take it all so come and get it. ;) heh. Yeah yeah - I know. The goal is get rid of it all quickly and not have it end up in a land fill.

come and get it. sell it on ebay even. just take it off my hands please. :)

Betty 02-12-2009 03:13 PM

I also have 4 trash cans full of medium sized aquarium rocks and about 100 metal grills you put on a wall and display stuff on (measuring maybe 2'-3' x 8'?). I would like money for those things though - if there's any interest I'll post photos. The metal grills are the type that a store would use to hang picture frames on to sell.

Capt Jack 02-12-2009 03:13 PM

it could happen. I may rent a van...

Betty 02-12-2009 03:21 PM

Here's photos of the aquarium rocks and metal grids that I want to sell... make an offer if interested:

http://picasaweb.google.com/mojave22...lGridsForSale#

Morrigoon 02-12-2009 03:29 PM

So... what on earth is all this from again?

Capt Jack 02-12-2009 03:42 PM

any piecemeal sales on the grids or 'all or nothing'?

Betty 02-12-2009 05:31 PM

I'll have to ask on the piecemeal on the grids. did you have a price/quantity in mind?

This stuff is all leftovers stuff from my employers businesses. Various cabinet parts (cabinet lights and dimmers). The big lights are from the warehouse - we went to more energy efficient ones. The edge molding was probably for garage or closets of some sort.

The rocks are from my bosses aquarium... that started to leak because the guy that built/installed it didn't put a metal frame in the cabinetry. :( And the grids are from our furniture store that's closing this weekend. :( :(

Still making custom cabinetry though.

that sort of depends on the dimensions of the individual pieces. I have a specific project in mind for those and need to run some measurements on my side, then depending on how big those are takes me to how many I need, plus one or two of course for when (not 'if') I screw up

:D

Well - 4 would make a bunny tunnel. You'd need something on the ends too.

My husband suggested taking them to a scrap recycler so that is the current plan.

What was funny is that there I am at work - working away - when a coworker buzzes me on the radio and asks me to pick up the phone (so it's not overheard.)

She says - uh... yeah - there's a Captain Jack on the phone for you? (notice the question mark.) I laugh. She says - is that supposed to be your husband or something? ! ha ha ha... so I explain who the Captain is and now everyone knows I'm some loon who meets people from a message board online. So yeah - I'm a freak too. ;)

and like, whats with the sink hole?

Not Afraid 02-19-2009 07:33 PM

The funny thing is, many of us call him "Capt. Jack" or just "Jack" most of the time instead of his real name.

Deebs 02-19-2009 11:29 PM

I met him once, but can't remember his real name. Though I am pretty sure it was told to me. And yes, definitely he is freak, of just the right sort.

MouseWife 02-20-2009 03:54 PM

Ha, when he told me his real name I didn't believe him. Believe a pirate? Right. ;)

Yeah, I'm a loon. Y'all are my 'mouse people'. I didn't change it up after the first board...still brought together {at least for me} for the love of the Mouse.

What is a real trip? Meeting people for the first time and actually speaking with them. That took me a while to get over. It was great, but it was a trip.

Thanks Katie, but no thanks. Check with Lisa (but don't let Chris know).

Disneyphile 05-27-2009 11:51 PM

We'd love to have them if they're still available! We've been in need of a nice set of dishes for awhile, and I just love the leaf motif. :)

lashbear 05-28-2009 06:01 AM

I won't have them, since you won't deliver them to my doorstep personally. :p :D

Betty 05-28-2009 06:44 AM

Those ARE retro and very cool. My family would destroy them. :( I have no pretty china hutch to keep them in. But I like 'em!

Oh No! You mean I was supposed to hand carry the cones to Australia? Damn, I misunderstood. :(

Cadaverous Pallor 05-28-2009 07:52 AM

We have two large mirrors that we found in the garage when we moved in. They do not have frames. Probably about 3 feet tall. I can get measurements if anyone is interested.

If no one goes for them they'll go on craigslist.

katiesue 05-28-2009 09:55 AM

I'll get photos up but I've also got a rocking chair, all wood standard rocker. Small table with two matching chairs, light wood. Exercise bike, low mileage can be used to hang clothing as well. We're hopefully moving soon so there will be more.

We have a similar treadmill! A fine clothes hanger indeed!

JWBear 06-28-2009 03:30 PM

We were cleaning out the garage today. I have a couple things to offer for freecycling:

1: Two velvet choir robes in a stunning shade of purple. (Material for a never started project back in my SCA days.)

2: Several unfinished vests (in silks and tapestry materials).

3: An open 36 case of 7-Up with about 20 cans left.

Let me know if you are interested in any of these!

Not Afraid 06-28-2009 04:18 PM

Where's Our SCA girls?

The velvet sounds beautiful and I'm sure it would look even lovelier covered in cat hair. ;)

JWBear 06-28-2009 04:42 PM

I did think of you when I pulled it out of the storage bin....

Can you easily get them to Lisa's place? If so, I would be greatly appreciative. I know Susan will be going there on Sundays for sewing class in July. If not, I am sure she can swing by your place on one of her trips.

BarTopDancer 08-02-2009 04:14 PM

I have a bunch of Disney VHS that will be going to Goodwill at the end of next week but I thought I'd offer them up here first (just in case).

Jungle Book
Aladdin
Little Mermaid
Lady and the Tramp
Toy Story
Lion King

Disneyphile 08-02-2009 04:41 PM

I have up-for-grabs:

Canon PIXMA MP780 all-in-one printer/fax/scanner/copier. Works perfectly, but needs new ink cartridges. (Only getting rid of it because I recently inherited the newer MP830.) Btw, the cartridges can be refilled with ink kits, saving a ton of money in the long run. However, they still need to be completely replaced on an annual basis, because they get "gunky". Also, this printer is capable of printing labels directly on printable CDs/DVDs. Works with both Mac and PC.

Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 19-inch flat-screen CRT monitor. Works perfect, but very large and heavy. However, the color depth is excellent for professional graphics work, especially for 3D and game designing. (Only getting rid of it so I can consolidate my workspaces with HDMI.)

PM me if you're interested. Available for pick-up or SoCal delivery. :) Will also ship, but you must cover the shipping/insurance charges.

BarTopDancer 08-02-2009 05:06 PM

Yeah, but I don't want to deal with it, and really just want them out of here. And, they were both given to me (my dad's a technophile who always has to have the latest and greatest, giving me his hand-me-downs), so I don't really want to charge anyone for them. I just want them to be in a good home where they can get some use and help someone out as they helped me. :)

Morrigoon 08-02-2009 06:48 PM

You say flat-screen but you also say bulky... What's the size on that? I have a 19" crt that makes moving my desktop rather tricky. I might be interested.

Prudence 08-02-2009 09:43 PM

It's flat-screen, not flat-panel. Frankly, it's a beast - it's deeper than it is wide, because of the color processors. Flat screen CRTs are still like regular CRTs, except the screen is flat, not concave, resulting in a better depth and color ratio without glare.

Not sure, really. I always used the cables - it's standard USB.

Morrigoon 08-02-2009 10:56 PM

Ah, no thanks then :)

katiesue 08-03-2009 09:46 AM

I'm finally unpacking and already have a stack of boxes of anyone needs any let me know.

wolfy999 08-03-2009 09:57 AM

If Prudence doesn't want the copier/fax/scanner/printer we'll take it. Our copier broke down and the business needs one, which Hubby hasn't gotten around to replacing.

Prudence 08-03-2009 08:13 PM

We're in waffle stage, so go for it, wolfy.

wolfy999 08-04-2009 01:10 AM

Waffle stage?

Since the time I posted we would take the copier/fax/scanner thingy, Hubby actually bought and hooked up a scanner without me knowing. So now we really don't need the thingy any more. Copying is all we needed it for and the scanner does the job since we don't copy much.

Pru...back to you if you can resolve the waffle problem.

MouseWife 08-05-2009 11:48 AM

Does anyone have any cables/cords/plugs/adapters {I don't have a clue what they are called} for a lap top?

I am sure they are all different but if anyone has one I can figure out what I might need.

I may *gasp* be going wireless!! My sons girlfriend is giving me her old Dell at a deal but I need to get it up and running. No cord and I need recovery discs.

But, I could be wireless!!!! Oh joy joy!! I never get anything fun!!

I could be wireless.

wolfy999 08-05-2009 11:57 AM

Why do you need wires/cables if you go wireless....isn't that the whole point?

Betty 08-05-2009 12:18 PM

Are you looking for a power plug or a different kind of plug?

MouseWife 08-05-2009 01:58 PM

wolfy, you are so darn logical!!! LOL To charge the battery. Which reminds me how sad for my son, his really cool computer won't keep a charge so he is stuck, too.

Yes, a power plug, the cord that would charge the battery, give direct current. I can not even turn it on right now to see what comes up.

It's a Dell, and, when I searched with the serial # on thier site, it says she bought it about a year ago. So, parts shouldn't be impossible to find but I am hoping not to have to pay full price as my whole deal is a lap top isn't in my budget.

Andrew 08-05-2009 02:23 PM

What is the model number?

MouseWife 08-05-2009 02:59 PM

Andrew~ the model number is T-6836.

Does that sound familiar? Oh, and looking at it, it is a Gateway, not a Dell.

Alex 08-05-2009 03:12 PM

No idea as to quality or AC Adapter scams, but you can buy an AC adapter for that model on eBay for $9.

MouseWife 08-05-2009 03:18 PM

Wow, thanks, Alex!! You've saved me a lot! She said they were about $60 and that was too much.

Thanks!

I will follow the link and see what I can do. Thanks again!

Andrew 08-05-2009 04:00 PM

That's why I wanted to know; AC adapters are pretty easy to find, but they tend to be specific to one model or sometimes a range of models from a single manufacturer so you need to make sure you get the right one. Good luck!

wolfy999 08-05-2009 04:07 PM

Especially with Dell laptops. Oops, just read backwards, much better with a Gateway I would suppose. My bad!

MouseWife 08-05-2009 05:50 PM

Thanks, that is why I was concerned a bit. I don't want to go through the company as they are more pricey. I don't mind generic. :D

LOL I hope a Gateway is better, at least in this case. Of course, had it said Dell, I'd have hoped in that case. :0)

It's yours. It's not as cool as the Kerug but it's a 1-2 cup maker. I got it for next to nothing during a trial phase and I either drink no coffee or a pot so it just takes up room on my counter.

YAY going to a good home!

Disneyphile 10-08-2009 10:00 AM

It'll definitely get good use. I don't drink much coffee, and when I do, it's only a cup or two, and I hate setting up the big machine to just do that. Perfect! Thank you. :)

I hear they also make a great office.

I have one free ticket to Magic Mountain, good until the end of 2010....any takers? PM me and I'll drop it in the mail to you.

Morrigoon 04-07-2010 12:28 AM

I have 5 hockey posters that are free to a good home, or I shall ebay them for whatever pittance they may fetch.

There are 2 Kings posters:
1. a door-size Ian Laperriere with height chart along the side
2. a small poster with the 5 Kings who went to the Olympics some year (probably late 90's, possibly early 00's) including Rob Blake, and I think Yari Kurri, and I forget who else

There are 2 Avalanche posters of the generic sort

And one smallish Ice Dogs poster, rather low quality inserted-into-the-newspaper kind, but featuring shirtless smiling hockey boys

BarTopDancer 04-07-2010 08:12 AM

With the Kings and the Avs in the playoffs you could probably make some money on eBay. Kurri's poster for sure.

I can't speak for all, of course, but when I worked local libraries magazine donations generally went straight to

a) the Friends of the Library for the few titles they thought they could sell
b) the prison readership programs
c) the trash

Public libraries rarely maintain lengthy historical records of magazines in print format. They take up too much room, get used too rarely, and there are plenty of digital means of accessing what is inside of them.

At the main PL I worked at years ago all magazines were discarded after 18 months when it was a sure thing they were available in the index systems. The only exceptions were locally published niche magazines and Playboy (which we kept for eight years).

katiesue 03-04-2011 11:52 AM

What Alex said. The Friends of the Library at my last job actually had a written policy that they do not take National Geographic because people constantly try to dump them on us. It's funny how everyone thought they were worth keeping - to the point that the civilized world is saturated with them.

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 03-14-2011 06:49 PM

To Good Home: 1 really old Cat. (12 ish)

My Grandmother who fell and split her head open is getting out of the hospital sometime this week. We need to remove her cat before she returns as the Doctor has stated that she can no longer take care of it. Sadly the alternative is to take it to the Pound.

Anyone interested shoot me a note. (cough! Lisa) ;)

BarTopDancer 03-15-2011 06:38 PM

Free to good home. Must bring help and transport to remove from 2nd floor. It's light, but awkward to get out the door. SA and Goodwill will not take it. My takers keep flaking. It's taking up precious floor space. :( :(

BarTopDancer 05-20-2011 09:39 AM

Free Daytimer binder - leather. No inserts. Free to pick up but if I have to ship it I'll need whatever the actual postage is.

Light colored wood coffee table - stable but the top is dinged up. Good for somewhere it could get destroyed.

Love seat (still).

Not quite free - entertainment center $30 (light wood color, from Target) and a spider arm lamp w/energy efficient light bulbs $15.

The last time I tried to donate a CRT, they wouldn't take it. So donating is probably still an option but you might want check ahead before lugging a big one around.

(And can I say that this topic of conversation has caused me to reflect on how obscene it seems to give up that much desk space to a monitor and yet it was completely normal a few years ago; though when I see 72" TVs advertised it makes me wonder if we haven't gone down a bad path.)

Capt Jack 11-29-2011 02:13 PM

smart move. I got a pretty large TV from someone awhile back for a steal. big ass 32+ something screen etc. old school, non flat box type TV. weighed a ton and unless it was the only thing running in the house, every time Id turn it on it sucked all the power out of the house and tripped the breaker. couldnt get rid of that POS fast enough to suit me.

Thanks NA...I'll look forward to hearing from you so we can arrange getting the books. Wolfette is looking forward to reading the Twilight series and I will finally read Harry Potter. :)

Anyone have an HP inkjet printer that takes the 02 cartridges? I had to replace the printer so I've got extra cartridges now. Of course I'd just stocked up on backups when it died. If anyone can use them I'd be happy to send them along.

My parents' church has a printer that uses those. If no one local claims them, I can send along the address. I'm sure they would appreciate the donation.

Any takers?

Aww! You got me curious why you'd get rid of them.

Because they're sitting in a closet unloved and not displayed. They need a better Disney home than mine. :(

Pshaw. All of us have them socked away. If we displayed all of our keepsakes from over the years we'd drown in it. I'm keeping mine as a family history piece more than anything.

Kevy Baby 03-11-2012 12:05 AM

Ditto on the keepsakes. They are part of my retirement plan.

Morrigoon 03-11-2012 02:13 AM

When I was little, my mom hung a long narrow shelf about 18" from the ceiling along one wall of my room to display dolls. I was kind of thinking something similar with mouse ears would be cute. You know, one of these days...

BarTopDancer 03-31-2012 11:51 AM

Laptop case for 13in notebook
Tigger trailer hitch cover

Also, have table and chairs, entertainment stand, book case, lamp, love seat for sale for cheap. Good stuff for first apartment.

Gn2Dlnd 04-01-2012 01:17 AM

I could use a laptop case for a 13 inch notebook!

It's yours if you want it. It's kinda girly - black with pink shading and a pink interior. I can text you a picture.

Kevy Baby 04-01-2012 09:50 AM

Does a 13" MacBook Pro come with it?

I'll pass on the pink. ANYBODY HERE LIKE PINK?

BarTopDancer 04-01-2012 10:18 PM

It's not that pink!!!!

Outter is black, logo is pink. Padding inside is black, lining pink.

Kevy Baby 04-01-2012 11:02 PM

I like 'em pink on the inside

lashbear 04-02-2012 03:52 AM

Laptop case (will donate after this try)
2GB SD card, sealed
Canon digital camera battery charger (no battery)
Lanyard & plastic holders from past MouseAdventures
Paper lanterns (last used at Ally's merry unbirthday party a lifetime ago)

Betty 06-14-2012 01:33 PM

Phototron. You pick up from Hemet-ish area. Older model with slight interior flaking of reflective material. Works great. Don't want to move it. We move in 2 weeks, so you'd have that long before you'd HAVE to come and get it - but the sooner the better for me.

Also have a day bed (currently taken apart or I'd post a photo) with a trundle bed under it. You'd need mattresses.

You're not going to be growing any pot medicinal marijuana in Henderson? Or does the new place have a full grow room?

Moonliner 06-14-2012 05:28 PM

I had to Google what a "phototron" is. Now I'm afraid I'm probably on some watch list...

Yeah, me too.

Promo-Man 06-14-2012 05:42 PM

I did too but I think it will make growing tomatoes in the winter easier, so if no one else wants it I would love it and I can pick it up Monday afternoon

LOL... It's an older phototron we got for free. It's a small moving truck and we're making one trip. Nevada laws aren't quite as liberal as California's law, unfortunately. But the bottom line is I'm getting rid of all sorts of stuff because we just don't have the room to move it. I have to get our stuff down to half of what it was when we moved in - and we've acquired more since moving here of course.

Betty 06-15-2012 06:37 AM

Do you have an above ground pool and need a ladder for it? I've got one of those too.

Moonliner 08-12-2012 03:31 PM

Up for grabs:

A set of #8 Print Cartridges for a Canon Pixma printer

Mine died and I have a snazzy new HP printer.

Ghoulish Delight 08-12-2012 05:07 PM

Am I the only one who is amused that it is GD who got the PRINTER materials?

Alex 08-12-2012 09:52 PM

Yes.
