Isaac Hayes: Hypocrite?
Quote:
|
I have to admit, I was surprised by Hayes' earlier comments regarding 'equal-opportunity offenders', and not at all surprised by his latest actions. He probably got called in for an audit, and no doubt realised he was not being a proper defender of the faith.
|
Can't say I've ever watched South Park, but I do find myself wondering...
Have they ever taken a shot at Alla and/or Islam in general? |
Lame. Shortly after that episode aired, I learned that he was a Scientologist and wondered what his reaction was. Too bad this was my answer.

 What a fvcktard. He should return all the money they've made him. Too bad the publicity he got from the show can't be taken away. His career was dead as a doornail when they dug him up.
|
I think his departure is lame. I have to agree with Stone's quote here:
Quote:
I'm dying to find out what's to become of Chef. Replace his voice or kill him off. Should be interesting. You never know what they'll do next. I mean, these guys killed off Jesus in a Christmas episode for Christsake. :D |
HE KILLED CHEF
YOU, BASTARD!!! |
Lol, Scrooge!:snap:
He could be abducted by Scientology extremists, who subject him to ruthless auditing sessions until he runs out of money. Then, Kenny could run him over with his bike. |
I have a feeling his departure from the show was forced on him from the powers that be at the Church. Still very lame news.

So how long until there is an episode bashing Issac Hayes?

Plot thickens a bit -
http://www.variety.com/VR1117939918.html Apparently Comedy Central is being pressured not to air the schedules repeat of this episode. |

I knew they'd have fun with this.:D

I really like Trey and Matt.
:D "May I call you pigfvcker?" No. Only my friends can call me Pigfvcker" |
Have I ever mentioned how much I think Scientology is like Manicheanism? Ah, glorious history repeats itself again.
|
How do I give Mojo to Matt & Trey?

But that still won't let me give them Mojo. And how is it that they, as member #219 have a join date of January 10, 2005 when member #s as low as 62 joined on January 11? * * I'm such a geek |
Mojo, don't you have to mojo a post?

It is called "Vulgar Abuse of Admin Power" :D (I was hoping someone would catch that..did it on purpose) Note:By the way, this will not be a regular practice, the sock puppet just fit the joke/thread too well. I hope the powers that be won't flog me too bad |

I think flogging yourself is an entirely different thread altogether

Oh, Uber's been mojo'd plenty.
He's just in denial. |
So Chef is starring in tomorrow's episode.

Interesting. I had a feeling that they would take this route and I'm happy they did.
|
I'm wondering who the new voice will be. I'm hoping it's not one of Trey Parker's generic voices...
:) |
This is what I get for listening to crappy radio morning show "reporting". I can't find anything online to corroborate, but...
I heard something saying that Isaac Hayes' family denies that he quit the show on the grounds of Scientology. Hayes had a stroke in January and that's why he's been MIA. They also claimed that the Closet episode would be shown on Comedy Central again either tonight or tomorrow night. This all sounds like BS, especially after reading the online articles, but I thought I'd throw it out there. I can't wait to watch them rip him a new one. |

Who's voice would you like to hear? Who would make a good chef? I'm thinking Emeril would be fun. Or perhaps, Gilbert Godfrey. :) |
Robert Evans.

I just watched the season premiere episode...

Yeah, I thought the opening and closing were strong and very funny. The rest, not so much.
|
The timing on this is amazing, curious to see if this will result in a good price?
|
I thought they handled it well. Let their feelings be known without being to rough.
the funeral speech was great. |
So they killed him off?
|
Sort of.
Have you seen the Star Wars films? |

I wonder if Kenny's ghost got pissed that Chef was stealing his act!:p ;)

To resurrect this thread rather than starting a new one on Southpark....well, I guess this applies more to comedy central than to Southpark.
Matt and Trey are equal opportunity offenders, so I hold nothing against them. However, Comedy Central finds it necessary to black out the cartoonish Mohammed, but it's OK to have Jesus defacating on several things in the same episode. I did not witness this, I have only read/heard about it. Is this truly what happened? I have never actually watched Southpark, so I really don't know. |
Using Jesus to highlight the pussyosity and hypocrisy of Comedy Central was genius.
Maybe you Christians need to become violent in order to get the respect you deserve. |

Which was the whole point of the episode. M&T's claim (as voiced by Kyle in the episode) is that either everything is okay to make of, or nothing is. |
Yeah, I don't understand why they would censor some and not other offending stuff. Fear perhaps. I would hope that Christians have gotten enough ridicult lately to be able to take a joke. Maybe the Muslims' sense of humor is on the fritz.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.. |
I'm pretty sure that "Comedy Central refueses to show it" thing was part of the joke, folks.

Interesting. If it's true, that's just sickening...but I'm a bit suspicious, only because I've seen the Scientology episode since CS supposedly pulled it.
|
I'm not sure the "pulling" of the Scientology episode (Trapped in the Closet) was quite the same as the pulling of the "stigmata" episode (Bloody Mary). My impression is that Bloody Mary was pulled from future broadcasts specifically because of protests from Catholics (the producers/CC have said as much) whereas Trapped in the Closet's missing repeat the same week of Hayes' departure was just to let temperatures cool down for a bit. I don't recall reading anything about an official protest over TitC, other than rumors of Tom Cruise's alleged refusal to promote Mission Impossible 3 if it wasn't pulled. Do I think Cruise is capable of such shenanigans? Hell yes! But until I hear something from Matt & Trey confirming the rumors, I'm not going to jump to that conclusion.
