Cadaverous Pallor 03-21-2006 09:18 PM

Baby pictures.

I'm an aunt! GD mentioned it in the Soooo thread. It's weird for so many reasons.

His name is Nathan.
March 15th at 10:07am
8 lbs 7 oz
Both mom and baby are healthy. Nathan is hungry constantly, loud, and adorable.

Enough talk.

Here

are

pictures.

I'm not yet claiming that he is the cutest child in the land but I'm sure I will once he starts smiling :)

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 03-21-2006 10:39 PM

Wow! Congrats Auntie!! Be sure to raise him well. As an Uncle to 7 and Great Uncle to 1, it is important to be ready to be the "Cool" Aunt when they are upset at thier parents!

:)

wendybeth 03-21-2006 11:04 PM

Congrats to the both of you! :)

BarTopDancer 03-22-2006 12:12 AM

Congratulations!

I found his first bath toy

A rubber ducky Pirate Donald style!

tracilicious 03-22-2006 12:18 AM

blueerica 03-22-2006 12:49 AM

Awww! Baby!!!

Congrats, Aunt CP! And grats to the parents!

Motorboat Cruiser 03-22-2006 01:00 AM

Congrats! I wish I had an "Aunt Cadaverous". :)

Gemini Cricket 03-22-2006 07:02 AM

Cute cute cute baby! :)

Although I did think this was going to be a thread where we get to see what Baby CP and Baby GD looked like. :D
Could you imagine? Baby zapppop, Baby iSm, Baby Not Afraid, Baby wenchybeth...

:D

SacTown Chronic 03-22-2006 07:17 AM

Congrats!

Moonliner 03-22-2006 07:28 AM

An Aunt that knows the minutia of Disneyland? Oh yeah, you're going to be the "cool aunt" no doubt about it. I can see it now...

No No baby Nathan, sure the fantasyland Matterhorn entrance might be fine for some but we are tomorrowland side people....

Cadaverous Pallor 03-22-2006 11:01 AM

Thanks, everyone. Seriously, just these few congrats mean a lot...things are tough in my family right now...perhaps later I'll take the time to post about that crap, if I can stomach it

Aunt Cadaverous does have a certain ring to it...although I can imagine the impression a child would have hearing the name. Muahahaha!

I think I'll be the cool Disney aunt until the kid is 13 or so and "over it" ;)

My brother's family is in Alaska so I won't be around much. I'm going to attempt to be the cool aunt anyway by keeping close contact.

We're traveling up there at the end of May. I'm totally excited. :tiki: I just might have a plush Donald in tow ;) My brother says he found baby clothes with Huey, Dewey, and Louie on them - I have demanded pictures!

scaeagles 03-22-2006 11:04 AM

New baby! Cool. Congrats. Too bad you are so far away. Tough to build a relationship with a little one from thousands of miles away.

Yeah...But what a great excuse to make regular visits to Alaska!

katiesue 03-22-2006 11:15 AM

Congratulations!

You can still be the cool Aunt from afar. The one who always sends the coolest birthday presents or just because they thought of you presents.

mousepod 03-22-2006 11:15 AM

Mucho congratulations CP. I know that you and GD are looking forward to your trip to Alaska, and I can't help but think how much it'll mean to the family - especially the newest member. Remember, it's never too early to indoctrinate him into the ways of Disney.

Gemini Cricket 03-22-2006 11:25 AM

:Peeks head into the door:

I think GD and CP would make great parents.

:Runs out of the room quickly.:

:D

innerSpaceman 03-22-2006 12:06 PM

Nathan??? Like the hot dog?

I guess there aren't as many kids to make fun of you when you live in Alaska.

And maybe Nathan doesn't sound weird when compared to a bunch of those eskimo names.

(I'm sure the name has nothing to do with how great a kid he'll be or how adorably cute he is. And who knows? If he keeps being cute, and grows up in all the right places, maybe his hot dog name will make him popular with the ladies :D )

Could be worse. I was almost Clarence the 3rd. Clarence?! Not even the nickname 'Clancy' can help you out then. I love the nickname 'Nate'.
:)

SacTown Chronic 03-22-2006 12:13 PM

"Running from the law, the press, and the parents
Is your name Michael Diamond?
No, mine's Clarence"

Shake your rump-a!

innerSpaceman 03-22-2006 12:15 PM

I keep hearing a bell ring when I hear the name Clarence.

And yeah, "Nate" rocks.

(But I think it means "snow" in Inuit, the soft squishy kind in particular)

Not Afraid 03-22-2006 12:15 PM

I was almost named Roberta. Ugh.

Scrooge McSam 03-22-2006 12:17 PM

My middle name is Otis.

I would have KILLED for Nathan.

Can I call you "O" for short?

See, I like the name Otis. When I hear names like Otis, Cletus or Enos, I start thinking about some big hunky white guy plowing a field in overalls wiping sweat from his brow with no shoes on...

Wait, what were we talking about?

Scrooge McSam 03-22-2006 12:25 PM

*pulls the hay straw out of his teeth and wipes the mud from between his toes before answering*

Can you imagine how I cringe when the Overstock.com commercials come on?

"Have you heard of the big O?"

scaeagles 03-22-2006 12:27 PM

Sadly, I can tell the indignity of my worst nickname without sharing my last name. But I can say I've always hated the name Leo.

SacTown Chronic 03-22-2006 12:31 PM

What, does it rhyme with hunt, runt and punt?

Angina, perhaps?

Enis, Rock, or Horatio?

I know.....Rumpledforeskin!

Again, I love the name Leo. When I was a kid I wanted to change my name to Leo or Dexter. I thought Leo was such a cool name. Like Leo the Lion etc. (Dexter had to do with me being a Kurt Russell fan as a kid...)

Ralphie's father is named Leo, too.

Isn't Nathan's hot dogs more of an east coast thing? I've barely heard of 'em.

My brother likes "Nate" but his wife prefers "Nathan". It sounds really nice with their last name, too.

His middle name is Joseph, after my great-grandfather. Not bad. Definitely cool by me even though I dislike the entire middle name concept :)

Nothing quite so obvious, but those are entertaining.

conga rats to you and yours.

Prudence 03-22-2006 01:01 PM

Well I was almost Mary Lee in proper southern double-name fashion. Fortunately, my dad objected.

*I swore I posted this.... but... its not there*

Anyway...

I have never heard the "Like the hot dogs?" comment when Nathaniel introduces himself as Nathan.

Mine is by birth, Nathaniel, (for Last of the Mohicans) , and shortens his name when he deems it appropriate.

His middle name is also Joseph, for my father.

Blessings on the new baby NJ. May he continue in the fine tradition of NJ's and be as mellow as mine.

Congrats to all!

Gemini Cricket 03-22-2006 01:34 PM

My grandfather's name: Joseph.
My uncle's name: Joseph Jr.
My cousin's name: Joey
My sister's name: Jo
My cousin's name: Arthur Joseph

When you're in Hawai'i and are Portuguese, your name is either Joseph, Mary, Manuel or Anna.
:D

where does Braddoc fit in?

This is going to sound like such BS, but it's the honest to goodness truth.

My dad was a cop for about 33 years. Back in the day, he had a patrol partner named Bradley Kaanana. Officer Kaanana was shot and killed in the line of duty by a sniper who was shooting at cars on the Pali Highway on O'ahu. His story is here. To honor his friend, my dad named me 'Bradley'.

'Doc' is a nickname I had in grade school and high school when my friends and I dressed up as cowboys for Halloween. I was Doc Holliday. I used to have really bad asthma as a kid. So bad that I couldn't participate in any sports or anything physical. I had had several close calls battling my asthma. So I couldn't run around and play sports or anything. Feeling left out, my dad would comfort me by telling me that Doc Holliday used to cough a lot too but that didn't stop him from being a hero...

So, in college I changed my name officially to 'Braddoc'. 'Brad' to honor a fallen hero and 'Doc' to honor my dad and his great advice.

:)

innerSpaceman 03-22-2006 02:14 PM

^ awesome

(but such a load of BS)

Snowflake 03-22-2006 02:47 PM
