Never heard of them. But for some reason, the gentleman in the picture above looks (to me) like Stewart Copeland.

Bump. We'll be there about 10:30 or so. See you there!

Kevy Baby 03-31-2006 04:05 PM

It's looking like I will too. GusGus is out of town until Saturday night and I am just not looking forward to going home to an empty house again.

Pre-Sale on the web site is over, so I will have to take my chances with the door.

Cadaverous Pallor 03-31-2006 04:52 PM

If we weren't so broke we'd be there. Lately there's been too much swanking for our banking. Grr.

innerSpaceman 03-31-2006 05:44 PM

If I weren't up to something else tonight, I'd be there, too.

Have fun, all you groovy swankers.

Kevy Baby 03-31-2006 06:34 PM

I should probably wear something "swanky", but screw it: I'm gonna wear my pineapple Hawaiian shirt and jeans.

Kevy Baby 04-01-2006 04:29 PM

Good show!

Not Afraid 04-02-2006 12:41 AM

Man, did that place start jumping once Ursula hit the stage!

He's an amazing DJ and mash-up artist. Stuff that you won't hear on his recordings included a hot version of Sweet Transvestite, a mash-up of Light My Fire and Evil Woman, and a surprisingly well-matched mash up of Madonna's "Hung Up", New Order's "Blue Monday" and more of Abba's Gimme Gimme Gimme".

There also was a profuse use of familiar tracks from my own teen and pre-teens years. Lyrics such as "Paranoia may distroy ya" made me scramble for a band name to place on the lyrics (The Kinks) and a Disney homage with dialog and music from Aladdin.

I was amused, fascinated, and enerized for a good 2 hours.

Oh, who brought the Japanese triplets who suddenly appeared in our seats?

Kevy Baby 04-02-2006 09:22 AM

I'm glad you can recall all the minutia: I just recall one two-hour long orgasm of music. He is absolutely amazing! Whether I was engaged in my spasmodic flailing that might have resembled dancing or sitting down with my eyes closed allowing myself to melt into the sound and experience - I was in a state of ecstacy (without the use of drugs - just a drink and a half).

I also remember the jungle mix of "These Boots Were Made for Walkin" rocked.

Two solid hours of seamless joy.

Kevy Baby 04-02-2006 09:37 AM

Also, if you would like to check out Ursula 1000, there are two tracks available from the "Kinda Kinky" album as well as a one-hour long set (labeled "Mega-Mix) which was recorded live in the Fall of 2005. Just go to the Media section of the Ursula 100 web site.

Not Afraid 04-02-2006 11:15 AM

The Video for one of y favorite songs, Kinda Kinky, is fantastic and worth a download.

Cadaverous Pallor 04-02-2006 04:31 PM

We ended up there, through the kindness of one Mr. Baby...and if I'd known how great it was going to be I would have paid my own way.

I haven't danced like that in a long time. The man knows his beats. Seamless mixes in seemingly clashing styles left me breathless. The club went wild.

If there was music like that near me on an average weekend, I wouldn't have to exercise.

innerSpaceman 04-03-2006 02:27 PM

So glad it was fun for all. So sorry I missed.

You and everyone else was missed as well!

Not Afraid 04-03-2006 08:26 PM

Well, download the 62 minute set Kevy linked to and you can hear some of what you missed.

innerSpaceman 04-03-2006 09:03 PM

^ um, no thanks. I'm kinda miffed at not having been able to go. It would just torment me.

One of the local radio stations is giving away a trip to Coachella. Unfortunately, I always miss when it's time to call in to qualify.

innerSpaceman 04-04-2006 09:45 AM

Somehow the hot, crowded, filthy, faraway desert of Coachella does not tempt me in quite the same way as the nearby, swanky nightclub of Santa Monica.

I would not use the word filthy to describe our Coachella experience last year. There was grass to sit on, so not dust clouds or anything.

Nice grazzy field, lots of room so it's easy to get away from the throngs, mere 2 hour drive (and a swanky hotel to stay at), and the heat was not too bad last year. It's a blast!

innerSpaceman 04-04-2006 10:52 AM

I will take last year as an abberation, then.

I have been following Coachella thru traveler's tales for many years.

(Mind you, everyone I've ever talked with has said it's a blast, but their description of events has varied - with hot, crowded and dusty being the most used verbiage .... besides awesome.)

Not Afraid 04-04-2006 10:54 AM

Well, I don't know how it could be dusty with all of that grass. Even the parking lot is grass. Crowded, yes, if you're in the mix and hot has varried. At least it is dry heat. Even I can handle that.

How cool would that be if you won? You must keep trying.

Cadaverous Pallor 04-05-2006 02:09 PM

Believe me iSm, this set up is a picnic compared to the filth I've dealth with in the past.

As for crowded - you've been to Disneyland, right? ;)

innerSpaceman 04-05-2006 03:07 PM

Yeah, well ... mouseadventure is that weekend. And with a certain team going to Coachella, abject humiliation is possible for my team to avoid!

I'm sure you'll suck just as much without us.

Have fun at DCA

I have had fun at DCA. Usually I was with iSm and Zapp... but I've had fun. Rolling down the rope bridges comes to mind.

MA is the entire DLR for the harder level.

I love MouseAdventure in DCA. That way, when we do poorly, we blame it on the suckwad park.

You do always win the blame game, at least :p

You know, taunting is even more fun if I don't have to back it up with a good MA performance.

Our first MA win was at DCA Mad Scramble, I think.

You do know that we're only one team, right? I didn't realize how much voodoo power we had ;)

Hmm, as I recall, we placed for the first time at a DCA Mad Scramble (2nd), our first victory was at a Disneyland Mad Scarmble (with an abject defeat during a Disneyland Classic in between).

You guys are the He-man and Shera of MA. Except I think they were siblings and that would be kinda ikky.

You guys will be gone, EuroMonkey and team won't be playing. That's two teams. We came in 32nd... maybe we can come in 29th now. :D

I'd say it's our goal to beat the Denton Affair, but we like to aim higher :p

Ooooohhhhhhh BURN!

BarTopDancer 04-06-2006 10:49 AM

All is fair in love and MouseAdventure.

Cadaverous Pallor 04-06-2006 11:59 AM

I can't mojo BTD anymore

You're right, as usual, babe.

Not Afraid 04-06-2006 12:03 PM

I keep thinking we're still talking about Ursula when I click on this thread. Silly me.

innerSpaceman 04-06-2006 01:19 PM

Fixed. :iSm:

Not Afraid 04-06-2006 01:25 PM

LOL! Beautiful!

It's about time you had something to moderate. ;)

Kevy Baby 04-06-2006 09:43 PM

So, what can we morph this thread into next?

Stan4dSteph 04-07-2006 08:11 AM

You could always split the thread...

innerSpaceman 04-07-2006 09:51 AM

Nope, I love tangents.

Eh, never been partial to 'em.

bewitched 04-11-2006 08:38 AM

It would seem that tangents are a way of life here.

And CP, you have tons of MA voodoo power, I stand in awe of your MA power!

(and I actually met you and GD at the picnic last year, I'm Whitney. My team was the one that stopped for lunch. :D )

Ah, I remember! One of our MA rules is that "Eating is a sign of weakness". ;) The MA Backpack always contains sandwiches.

Disneyphile 04-25-2006 01:06 PM

So, who's playing MA this weekend?

katiesue 04-25-2006 01:38 PM

Our team's in - Single Rider Syndicate - we're doing the long version for the first time.

Disneyphile 04-25-2006 01:46 PM

Fellowship of the Mouse is returning once again for the long version as well. :)

Ponine 04-25-2006 01:57 PM

I'm in, with three noobies, one male, and no team name....

(so that would be the team formerly known as the Pixie Chicks) short version.

Stan4dSteph 04-25-2006 02:29 PM

I'll be home doing all the fun things that Albany has to offer, like going to Dunkin Donuts or Olive Garden.

Prudence 04-25-2006 02:54 PM

I'll be studying for finals. :(

CoasterMatt 04-25-2006 03:06 PM

I'll be... um, there'll be an official announcement soon...

Color me intrigued.

Sigh. I have no idea what it will be like to hear about it second hand.

Not Afraid 04-25-2006 03:33 PM

First time my complete team has missed it.

innerSpaceman 04-25-2006 04:07 PM

I'm in. Long version. Hell, though, there's something wrong with my right leg. Almost doctor-worthy. Has me scared. Not auspicious for MouseAdventure.

bewitched 04-29-2006 02:22 AM

Not only am I in, I'm already here!! Team name: The Tiki Room Mates. Short version. We will also be at the picnic tomorrow (today). Anyone else?

€uroMeinke 04-30-2006 12:45 PM

Daft Punk!

Not Afraid 05-01-2006 09:25 PM

Never mind.
