You know you're getting old when........

Clothes you wore when you were 17 are back.

Latest Urban Outfitters catalog has versions of clothes I wore in HS and out to clubs.

http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shopp...ringdrop2_2006

Page 11 and 13 are BOTH almost identical to outfits I wore (sans watermelon). But the big earrings, the black and white, the shoes. leggings, it's all there....again.

However, I am relieved that there has been no appearance of Chris' bright green velour turtleneck yet. ;)

Fun stuff, but old age has arrived. Now I know how older people felt when I wore vintage 1940's attire.

Alex 04-06-2006 02:34 PM

The clothes I wore in high school will never be in style again. They were never in style in the first place (other than my jeans, 90% of what I wore was discount priced rejects from Ross, T.J. Maxx, and/or Goodwill).

Though I'm still hoping the moon boots I wore in first grade will come back in style (the Ugg boots are close but I don't want to have to wear a mini-skirt with them).

CoasterMatt 04-06-2006 02:35 PM

There's a wonderful mental picture for you...

Ahhh... High school memories...

I had several velour shirts. My favorite was the white and brown one with the zipper opening. When I wore it with my rust cords (with one of those grommeted belts) and my wallabies, I was stylin'! Awesome!

Snowflake 04-06-2006 03:22 PM

I've never been fashionable ;)

Isaac 04-06-2006 03:39 PM

I think the only article of clothing I have from High School are my P.E. shorts.
Sometimes I wear them to bed.

But when oh when will the flannel shirt come back into style?

Hey, it was the early 90s in Seattle.

Oh the flannel was big here in AZ too. I'm hoping not to see the skater clothes we wore come back for quite some time.

innerSpaceman 04-06-2006 04:46 PM

I wish I had kept all my clothes from the 70's. They were so ugly then, and would be so awesome now.

Gemini Cricket 04-06-2006 07:19 PM

You know you're getting old when...David Spade is making fun of people on his show and you have no idea who he's talking about. (Who the heck is Gabrielle Union? Is it a person? Is it the name of a bank?)

(I know, I know... but he's on right before John Stewart...)
:D

Kevy Baby 04-06-2006 09:41 PM

I think your ball sack hitting the water is another sign of getting old

wendybeth 04-06-2006 11:30 PM

(Trying to erase mental images of Alex in a mini with Uggs and KB and his....never mind. I'm now blind. Thanks, guys.)

Since my boyfriend is six years older than me he is always harping on me for picking out slightly 70s style striped shirts for our son in colors like brown and orange because he remembers when he had to wear something almost identical. I think they look cute. It is not like they have disco collars or anything.

But you better believe when it comes to shoes there is no way I am buying those for my son!!! I don't care how comfortable they are.

Kevy Baby 04-12-2006 07:18 AM

Ya know you're getting old when someone posts "Wow. I was 6 in 86."

And you graduated high school in 1982

Gemini Cricket 04-12-2006 07:21 AM

You know you're old when you still call Fox the 'new TV station'.

Not Afraid 04-12-2006 07:23 AM

I still call Fox Channel 11.

The giant clamshell she was sleeping in just opened. It's morning for Venus Lisa.
:)

Yeah, Lisa! Get out and get busy taking pictures. We want pictures! (Especially if they have hot Boston men in them!)

Loved my moon boots. They kept my poor frail toes warm in the middle of a howling blizzard even though I refused to wear a warm coat and wore a sweat jacket instead.

Ah, the things I did to look cool.

katiesue 04-28-2006 10:25 AM

I have a pink polka dot mini skirt and my favorite Esprit pants still in my closet.

Crystal 05-05-2006 06:49 AM

when your 13 year old tells you, on your 35th b-day, that you look 20 and your 8 year old, who thinks older is better, replies, "Nuh-uh, she looks 40!"

€uroMeinke 05-05-2006 06:54 AM

When you suddenly forget the pIN number to your ATM after severla years of use, finally having your card eaten for making too many wrong tries,

Moonliner 05-05-2006 07:14 AM

When you are listening to the movie reviews on your morning drive radio station and the reviewer reminisces about sneaking into his first 'R' rated movie: Terminator 2.

Super.

Ouch

Not Afraid 05-05-2006 10:02 AM

I'm just going to pretend I was 8 in 1980, was well schooled in punk rock and was terribly worldly. I've been told twice over the past week that I was 32 or 34. I'm sticking with that.

MouseWife 05-05-2006 11:17 AM

When I asked some co-workers if they liked Stone Temple Pilots.

"Who?" "Are they like some '80s band?"

Oh, I was glad {and I'll grasp it tightly} when I told someone my son was graduating and they said "Middle school?" I don't care what they meant I am taking it that they thought my son could ONLY be that old....:D
