|
Dude, I've never met Sam before! I'm all excited! :D
It's been ages since we've seen Sac and family as well. Yay yay yay! |
If the SacTownFamily is going to be there, I am going to be there. Easy fo sheezy!
|
Count me in! Can you believe it, I'm in (or soon will be)
|
Oh, without a doubt. The chance to meet Sam and Sac on the same day? Coudn't miss it for the world. :)

Yippeee, oooooh, this is going to be (pre-Dis-Birthday) fun.
|
Holy crap, everyone will be there! Sweet! :snap:
|
I'll be there with the LoT buttons
|

So when they say "larger passengers" what exactly are they talking about?
|
either way, i'm a weiner. LOL
|
Rock the effing house! I'm so happy you guys are coming to town! It's been too long; the little SacTownlets must have grown, like, a foot since last we saw them.
And Sam? You live near town? Why is it that we have not met before??? This is unacceptable! LoT meet! LoT meet! Tom and I are totally there. |

Sam is walking 1800 miles through the snow - uphill both ways - to attend the meet. He's old school that way.

Speaking of which, is this the 50th or 51st birthday? How do you have both on the same day? I'm confused. :) |

I call Shenanigans on these recent LoT meets. Shenanigans shenanigans shenanigans. There seems to be a disproportionate amount of LA and Boston LoT meets. There have been a ton of LA meets. And only one Boston meet. Lisa and Chris showed up for that. Kudos to them. Harumph. :D Now I'll leave before I get told to leave by iSm. :D |
I'll probably be there - but Rose'll be in Chicago, so if anybody needs a place to crash - we've got a spare room (as long as you don't mind the psycho kitties)

I was jealous of the Boston swanking btw :D |

Yeah! Have fun everyone!
No, don't worry about those of us stranded in other states. No, really, we're fine. <ragged sob> No, don't give it a second thought. We're really <bites knuckle> happy for you. :p |
i'll pro'lly be to tired that day.
|
Quote:
I have been an LA advocate lately when Ralphie and I discuss possible professorships for him. Here's to hoping. The Boston swanking was fun. I wished I had more time off from work. Bleh. :) That "Sacs and McSam Meet" sounds ultra cool. |

I just realized that the PikMe-Up screening is on the same day. Where's my clone?
|
hmmm... Nickolas and I may venture south that morning for breakfast in the Park...
|
Sactown groupies sing this song, Do-Dah! Do-Dah!
|
Oooh, a meet where the guests of honor will spend more than 45 min, will go on rides with us, sink boats with us, and possibly let us honor them with saved prime spots for the best fireworks show the world has ever known.
Plus I can't wait to get me some more of that inexplicable SacTown twang - that just doesn't come through in posts. It will be uber nice to visit with the S.T. clan again, too! |
Call me an idiot (YOU'RE AN IDIOT!!) but I thought this boat sinking I've been hearing about was some kind of code talk for something else.
You actually sink boats? As in fill with water so they sink to the bottom and the ride has to be closed and evacuated? Or something else? |
Quote:
Then there's that thing we do on Pirates where we put the heaviest people in the first rows and lean forward on drops. This causes a big splash getting at least a few drops of water on everyone on the boat - and a tidal wave over the front end, which sometimes makes it into the boat, soaking the pants of the front row. Don't know if that qualifies as sinking either. |
No-one ever comes to Sydney instead. *Boo hoo*
Just because we don't have any theme parks - that's so theme-park-ist of you all. I can give you a dead rat, and a string to swing it on...... Allright, I give you all permission to have fun without me. :p BUT Don't forget to have a Corn Dog for me. :( |
Lashbear, I've been doing everything short of mailing myself in a box to Australia to get back to Oz (there's a wonderful new Intamin steel coaster at WBMW), and I'd definitely go back to Sydney if I got the chance - even without a theme park - Sydney is one of my favorite cities on Earth.

Ps. To any future recipients of this honor, falling to your knees and crying "we're not worthy, we're not worthy" is somewhat undignified. According to strict DL protocol the correct response is: "Wow! This is great, thank you so much. Here have a Grande White Hot Chocolate". ;) |

I broke my foot while a cm, the 1st of July. Spent the whole day in health. Every single person who saw me said, "you know, You'll still have to work the holiday weekend". Yeah, as if I had thought for an instant that I broke my foot to get out of work. (in the end it was a few toes, but at that stage they were sure it was my foot) |

I'm jazzed! *uses jazz-hands*
So what time is this par-tay starting? |
What's the usual starting time for these shindigs? We'll be in the park and available pretty much any time Sunday.
I, too, am jazzed to the point of using jazz-hands. |
If there's a time and place for showing up...inquiring minds want to know! I'd like to do some swanky hanging out...
|
I could be up for early, but perhaps it's best to call this for noon.
Any other opinions? Noon at the latest, I would say (though any later joiners welcomed with open jazz hands). Hmmmm, Sunday, noon, Hub. Who else might we run into? |
Sunday, Noon, Hub is fine and we can all wear LoT buttons.
|
Noon, hub...alriiiiiiight!
|
Check!
|
Noon at the hub. That's never been done before.
;) |
What's the Hub? Is that near the Magic Mountain?
|
Check and Checking for LoT Button....
|
:( I will be there, but I have no button...
|
SacTown likes my belly-button.
i call shot-gun! (if i go). |
We know that you will be there in spirit at the very least. You can always call when you're free! :)
|
Quote:
|
Minor note - Al's meet is still Sunday, noon, hub. The hub will be a busy place. Not a problem really, just mentioning. Perhaps we should meet at a different small character statue, instead of the usual side? (Now trying to remember which small statues are where...)

We'll be there (and we'll bring the Fosse gloves for our jazzhands.) We're going to try our hand at the bus commute (we haven't tried it before.) But we're leaving really early so we should have arrived by then. We'll have to leave the park early in order to make it back home, though, so we'll have to make the best of our aLoTted hours.
|
Have fun everyone!!! I'll be busy with the bride stuff (as will be usual for the next few months), but I'll be thinking about you all! :D

I'm going to do my absolute best to be there, at least for a bit. I am blocked out for the day, however (I might pay for a blockout ticket though).
Are there any plans for a grand cal excursion at some point in the day, just in case I opt out of the blockout ticket? |
No solid plans as yet, that I know of. But I'll make some if it means getting to meet MBC :D
|
Yeah, MbC is a must. A trip to the AP Lounge to escape the hottest part of the day is always a good idea. What say you, everybody?

neat. I can hardly wait till tomorrow. *looks back trying to remember if I said I was attending.....*
is anyone planning on snagging one of those cool fireworks spots for tomorrow night? the one we took over last time was fantastic. |
Yes, fireworks spot snagging is a certainty. Afterwards, a Space Mountain Rainbow Glasses extravaganza is a definite. Everybody - get fastpasses and don't use them. (I will likely make a run from the hub for the group, my pockets bulging with APs).
Premium APs, that is, MBC. But, 'natch, we'll adjourn to the Grand Cal around happy hour. Keep in touch with the Not Afraid switchboard, and we'll hook up at some point near then. Wow, this is going to be the swankiest meet in a long time. (I hope Disneyland's Second 50th the following week is not a disappointment by comparison.) |

I'd better get my sorry repo ass in bed or I'm going to be on some other time than LST.

I'm about to faceplant, but I will say that the meet was an utter delight-- truly lovely to meet Scrooge (who is just as swell as I imagined he would be) and the SacTown family was a joy as ever. I'm so glad you guys let us hone in on your vacation time! We had a blast.
|
Quote:
{{{{{{{{{LSPE}}}}}}}}} Thanks so much for coming!! |
I'm so frickin tired - and we spent a good three hours in the Grand Cal! What's up with that?
What a GREAT meet! (Pssst, Leo....THIS is how a meet is done.....so sayeth the wise ISM.) I'm so glad I got to meet Sac, Crystal and family. What a great bunch of people - and the kids were incredible joys all day long. I hope I never miss a Sac Family Meet again! Sam, you are a doll! I hope you come out to visit again soon. I hope you and your feet are getting some much-needed rest at the moment. Remember the Westward Ho trick! ;) Long Live LoT Meets! |
I just couldn't have had a better time and it was so great to finally meet Scrooge, Sac, Crystal, the little sactowns, and Capt. Jack. What a wonderful group of people you all are.
And Leo, you were definitely missed. We would have happily introduced you to a little concoction called a sidecar. You would have had a bunch of fun, then probably hugged the porcelain alter a bit later in the evening. ;) Really sorry I had to leave early and my apologies to anyone who I missed saying goodbye to. I had to go into the office for a few hours tonight and prepare for next week, which starts in about 5 hours and is going to be the beginning of a very hectic week. Having said that, I can think of no better way of kicking off a week of hell than by blowing off some steam with fellow swankers. I had a most awesome time! :) |
Would that I could have been there. Sounds like much more fun than what I was doing. Since yesterday probably would have consisted mostly of being the butt of male prostitute toaster whore jokes and listening to people whine about the PotC ride changes and the new movie, you can tell my day yesterday wasn't much fun.
MBC, you've tried to get me drunk before. I'm wise to your games. No freebies for you. ETA - I better see a pic of ML eating a corndog with "Sac" on it. |
Sounds like fun was had by all. Pictures please. :)

I had a fantastic trip!
Crystal, SAc; you have a wonderful family and very charming young people. I think your youngest was fairly certain I was an alien, and did not want to engage in conversation, but that aside they were wonderful! Katie Sue, your daughter is a very charming young woman. Waiting to see Capt Jack Sparrow with the girls was one of the highlights of my day. I cant wait to see how those pics came out. Motorboat Cruiser... I missed seeing you leave.. it was nice to see you again, and I enjoyed hanging out with you. Sam..fabulous to meet you. You were a pleasure to be around, and I hope we can see more of you! The rest of the swanktacular crew, thank you. The fireworks were wonderful when seen from the FRONT of the castle, pirates was amazing, and I enjoyed being remind what great folks you all are. |
Goodness, that was a positively epic lounge session in the Grand Cal. Let's just put it this way...we were getting table service, from the Hearthstone bar tender himself, in the lobby. Yeah, epic.
Scrooge, it was an absolute plearue meeting you, despite your odd obsession with sack meat. Not sure what that was about. We'll have to do it again sometime, preferably somewhere that has a better grasp on the concept of a mint julep. Sac and Crystal, great to see you again. Love your new hippie mobile. I think I got high just standing next to it . The kids are awesome, had a blast heckling the pirate sing-a-long with Todd. Hope the knees feel better soon. And everyone else who was there (I'd list 'em, but these posts have a character limit), thanks for a great time. Definitely a meet to be remembered. |
Obsession with Sac's meat?!
:D |
Everyone rocks the house. It was amazing meeting Sam, what a cool guy! Seeing the Sac family again was a blast.
I don't know how our little board has such huge meets...apparently it's quality of posters that matters, not quantity. |
Definately one for the books. I can't tell you haow much it delights me that we can still pull off meets like this. The Lounging session was indeed epic, to where I must confess feeling a little guilty that we kept our out-of-town guests away from the park - so I hope they have a wonderful day today getting in a good park fix. I just loved seeing everyone yesterday.
|
Quote:
This was supposed to be "Sac's meet". When I found out Sac, Crystal and the Sac-lets were coming, I arranged to show up at the same time... to attend "Sac's meet". There are already enough people obsessed with Sac's meat. |
You know, for some twisted reason, I've always connected Mr. McSam with an image of Sam the Eagle in my head. I have no idea why (did you have some sort of patriotic avatar at some point, maybe?). Much to my surprise...he looks nothing like a talking blue felt eagle in real life.
|
Wicked cool event as usual. Jimmy the storyteller was a fantastic moment I dont see soon forgetting. wtg Kevy for flagging him down.
Kudos all...another swanktacular gathering to be sure....so like, whats left for us to sink? |
Quote:
Sadly, there are other things keeping me away from the park so far this morning... work things, bleh! After I finish pinning this diaper on my colleague, Indy here I come!!!! ;) |
... and to everyone involved in procuring, furnishing and guarding "the spot", my heartfelt thanks! You guys rock!!!

I kept envisioning Scrooge's avatar involving John Cleese and an albatross...glad I've gotten that image out of my head :)
|
Yeah - where is Claire? She rocked.
|
So great to see everyone. The munchkin and I had a lot of fun getting to know everyone. Pionne forgot to download the photos - will do it when I get home tonight.
|
I have some photos. On my camera. I'll get there.
What a let down today is going to be after such a great day and a fabulous weekend! Those of you who were having an attitude adjustment missed Jimmy the Storyteller. I love that fact that there ares still new things to experience at the DLR after all these years. Jimmy showed up and we also got a walk by from Matt Ouimet. Kevy tried to flag him down too, but no luck. |
We were lucky enough to meet the SacTown's and Sam on Saturday, while taking a little rest in the AP lounge during our all-day engagement photo shoot. ML found us sitting there, and called them all over!!! I was very happy to meet them finally!!! (Brief as it was.) :D
|
I had a wonderful, amazing time. I cannot recall when I had that much fun in the park. And my fireworks viewing spot. That bench. I'm in luv with that spot. Wow. Pretty fire goes BOOM! I had every intention of leaving before the fireworks so I could get a good nights sleep, alas that did not happen. Sam, it was great meeting you. I do regret not bringing my 84 Olympics playing cards, or my Sam plush for Greg. I had a similar image for some reason (I just didn't want to share it and be thought of as weird.. I should have realized that wouldn't have happened :p )

Jimmy was awesome. I did not know they had the Storyteller. I understand he is around the fireplace at least once per day. They have the perfect person for the job!
I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for him again. |
Quote:
And how cool is that for Sac and family? What a great way to start the day! |
Would someone post some pictures, dammit!!!!!!
:D Pretty Please? |
Oh, I am so happy for the SacClan. That is just a wonderful treat. Almost as wonderful as the treat of spending some time with them again. Such good peeps, to a person. Love them All.
McSam, it was such a pleasure getting to finally meet you in the flesh. You are a class act. I, too, felt a little pang for the epic loungeness vs. Park time. We usually sink more than one boat. But, really, there was such perfection in everything ... it's only the fault of planetary rotation that there wasn't time for more. Hubness of happiness, Priceless Pirates Adventureing, Fine Dining at a New Eating Spot!!!!, Absolutely grand Grand Cal Lounging Extraordinaire, Fireworks Festivities of Fabulousness, and Equisitely Enhanced Space Mountain Magnificence. Everything was tops of the pops, classic in scope and form and fun. I'm so sorry I missed Storyteller! But, hmmmm, I wonder if that security-bike-team escort back from the parking lot was because we looked suspicious casing the Sacmobile, or because of something else????? |

Yes, it was a gloriously fun day, but I'll save most of my comments to go along with the photo captions. It was great meeting several swankers for the first time, and seeing so many others again. It's been a long time since I've had so much fun at the park doing what other Guests would call doing "nothing" or "very little." It just proves that a LoT of good company can over-power the draw of the attractions that were all around us. But, I wouldn't call successfully sinking Pirates, enjoying lunch at the re-opened Cafe Orleans, lounging in the Grand Californian, camping out for and viewing "Remember...Dreams Come True" fireworks from The Spot, and riding Space Mountain with special glasses doing "nothing." :) THANKS to everyone who was there in person (and in spirit)! |

I retract my BAH! to the always truthfull entitiy that was NOT named as GD. I will now go admonish my source for convincing me that GD was messin with my mind. |

Photo highlights (28 pics, so far) from the July 9, 2006 meet have been posted at www.disneydaniel.com and titled: Lounge of Tomorrow Meet - July 9, 2006.
More photos will be uploaded in the near future. Enjoy! Here are a few pics to get you started. ![]() After executing experienced, LoT loading of a boat, we sunk Pirates prior to the first drop. ![]() We took a partial-group photo using the stairs of the Disney Gallery. After lunch, as with any large gathering, people started heading in different directions--and it's hard to keep track of where everyone goes--so apologies to those who were not present when this photo was taken. ![]() LoT guests of honor for the day's meet: Scrooge McSam, SacTown Chronic and Crystal await the fireworks. After the fireworks, we headed to Space Mountain for a special experience of the ride, thanks to glasses provided by innerSpaceman and zapppop. I was only able to take three Space photos, since the picture-viewing area is crowded--and the pictures change/disappear quickly from the monitors, as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Wonderful photos!

Steve's Rainbow Express!!!
(Great pics- ty!!!) |
Lol! Sac looks so gleeful at being loaded off the sunken boat.....
|
According to today's Al's Update, there have been dozens upon dozens of boats stuck at the lip of the first drop (and many at the second as well). Bah, our LoT sinking method is no longer unique ... and some of us (*cough*CP*cough*) can stop feeling bad about holding up the ride. It's been happening several times per day ... and without the, ahem, front loading we do with troublemaker intent.
In fact, far from fixing the problem we so emphatically and scientifically pointed out the day Pirates closed ... they have done the exact opposite of fixing the flume in that area. According to Al, they have installed new braking systems, gate controls, and water flow restrictions at the top of the drop ... and have been paying a severe price for that retarded decision. Al reports that they have taken to having a maintenance guy stationed in the darkness at that point in the ride (think Splash Mountain final lift) to be ready to push boats at a moment's notice. No such person was stationed there on Sunday. In fact, if this has been going on with any regularity since the ride reopened, I am surprised at the unpreparedness displayed by the CMs. Far from getting a Kyle, we were treated to CMs who probably haven't been at their posts for more than a month. But, if the boats really are stopping at the drop several times a day, the CMs we encountered must have been hired that very morning. |

I'll put together some sort of trip report when my head clears a bit. But let me say now that the LoT meet was the most magical day of a truly magical trip. Spending time with old friends and making new ones was a LoT of fun...and whether the time was spent in the park or in the AP lounge matters not at all -- it was all wonderful. Sam, thanks for making the trip out here. We had a lot of fun with you. Sorry about dragging you back out on your last night with the promise of fistfulls of Fastpasses only to discover the park was closing at 11:00 for the first time in recorded summertime history. Guess I should start reading the propaganda they pass out at the gate, eh? Oh well, we'll always have Space and Matterhorn. |

Thanks to new friends....NA, E, Cap'n Jack, SM, Bornieo, Ponine, katiesue (and Madison), Disney Daniel, Scrooge McSam, Motorboat Cruiser (I remember you being at the parking lot), and Tom for giving us the honor of meeting you all. Spending the day with you swanksters was a priviledge and a pleasure. Cat: Dad, you know that crazy lady with the red hair? I forget her name. Me: Lisa. Cat: Yeah, Lisa. She's cool. |
Awwwwww! I'm cool! (Even if I'm crazy.)
Give her a hug from me. |
Thanks you all for a WONDERFUL day! You all really contributed to making our visit a truly magical one and I'm already looking forward to next year :snap:

We actually believe Sacramento is suitably near for a semi-annual visitation schedule, at the least..
(kids grow up so fast, and all - - certainly you wouldn't deny us the pleasure of seeing a few intermediate steps .... not to mention the other pleasures of your delightful company .... aka we miss you already) |
bringing back to life old threads.................

Was that from the SacClan meet? Who's the dude between Lumbo and CP? He looks sorta familiar, but I'm not sure I recognize him. Maybe I'm just forgetting.
