Some Bunny Needs a Lovin' Home!!!
Hey everyone!
Morrigoon and I rescued a baby bunny from being "set free" in a field, after an irresponsible mother decided that her 2-year-old daughter's "Easter present" was too much of a hassle to keep any longer. (Believe me, I really want to smack the woman.) Anyway, this bouncy baby boy is currently being fostered at my place, but we can't keep him - Ken and I are already filled to the rim with as many animals as we can properly care for in our apartment. So, this baby needs a loving home and a name!!! (New bunny parents can decide that one.) Here he is: And, he will be given free to his new good home with the cage shown: If any of you would like him, please let me know!! He needs a permanent home ASAP. He's quite the lover too - he's very calm and loves to be held for a long time. When he came to us, his cage was absolutely disgusting. The idiots had even left the plastic shrink wrap around the lower edges that he could have ingested!! It also had never been cleaned in at least a month, and he didn't even have any traces of proper food - only a handful of baby carrots that were laying amongst piles of poo on the bottom of the cage. So, I've got him all cleaned up and ready to go, and even bought him a small cage litter box that he's already starting to use! When stretched out, he's about 7-8 inches long. He's the cutest little ball of fluff! I'm even willing to deliver him to you. And, if he doesn't fit well in your home, I'm willing to take him back at any time to be placed again. Thanks so much!!! Teresa |
You are so cool, DP. If I lived near you, I would take in the little guy, although my cats gave my last bunny a heart-attack.
Him's very cute, and that mother is a frikken idiot. I'll bet she gets Jr a baby chick next year! |
|
Awww....he's cute! AND he comes with all the accessories--I hope he finds a good forever home soon.
|
Wait until Wednesday when Chris leaves fro Chicago and I can sneak him into the house. Hell, it's better than another cat and a Mercedes.

When I first saw the thread title, I thought of this
![]() :) Sure is a cute bunny, but we've already got enough of a menagerie. |
Oh, if I were closer I'd have him in a hot minute.
I've asked a friend here who is in to Bunny recue if she knows someone in LA you can get together with to help place this adorable boy in a good home. |
omg that guy is adorable. We're not allowed to have pets in our apartment :(
Of course, bunnies don't make much noise... |
More baby carrots, some potatoes and a little salt... and you've got yourself dinner!
:D But seriously, the bunny's cute. :) |

Where's my hausenpfeffer?
If my kids see that picture I'm so busted. I was already busted when one kid saw the bulldog puppy NA posted. |

That was funny! This is a movie I have (thankfully) missed |
Hmmmm. Chris didn't post a negative response. Hmmmmmm.

A rabbit? Whatareyanuts? The other day, I was going to step into my fuzzy house slippers and I realized one was actually a cat. I reached for a loofa in the shower and accidentally grabbed Scoundrel by the neck... And now a rabbit?! :D |

LOL! Scoundrel would make a good loofa.

[11:05] NotAfraid2dl: Can we get a bunny??
[11:05] XenArchist: No - cats will eat him |

And, he would look soooo CUTE with Buster!

I didnt.............you should feel lucky. (I believe it was on MST3K) I just never understood how they thought giant bunnies munching on grass would look.......terrifying. RUN! the bunnies will come cute you to death!!!! |
Cats don't eat bunnies. I've had bunnies around my cats and they ignore 'em. :p

CP is on her way to the 'phile residence to pick up the little fuzzball! We're gonna have a bunny!
I can't wait to get bored with it and release it in a field! |
My name suggestions are:
Fluffy! Cadbury KITTY! (though you'd probably give it a cat complex with a name like that). So the alternate I suggest is NOTKITTY BUNNY! SHINY! |
How much did Chris pay you..? ;)
Too cool! Him's very cute, and I'm proud of you all for rescuing him! (My own kitties just liked to lurk on top of Toulouse's cage and salivate- I think it made him very nervous). |
I suggest Tatsu...
or maybe Super Death Thunder Kill (Sunshine, for short) :D |
How about Monty? Or Arthur? Tim?
|
Monty Python!
Brian SPAM! Fluffybunnyfuzzball |
Yay for the new bunny parents!!!! :D
The little guy was bouncing all over with excitement when CP came to get him. Awwwwww!!! I can't wait to see what name he receives!!! :snap: |
Boy, Chris sure got off easy this time. He'd better buy me something shiney in Chicago.

Yes, we NEED one of those on top of our house. It will make it easy for the police heliocopters to illuminate our house if need be.

Oh, and let us know when we can come see him. :D |
Just pop it in the post to me. I'm sure it will be just fine...
|
I can't believe it! We have a bunny.
![]() ![]() We are absolutely in love with him. No name yet. Teresa gave us nearly everything we need for the moment and I'm hitting the pet shop tomorrow for other stuff. He loves to scamper around - much faster than we expected! We're already learning what we need to keep out of his reach. Hasn't pooped around the house yet. Thanks so much for the bunny! We promise to be wonderful parents. :) |
OMG! He's soooo cute!
(And I squealed in a really high voice when I said that.) |
Aww The BUNNY!!!!!!!!! He's so fluffy and floppy!
|
Awwww I love those floppy ears
|
Bunny!
He likes to nuzzle. |
Woohoo Happy Bunny Love!
(Me and the cats thank you) |
Yeah, I just squealed "BUNNY!" too...
Too frickin cute! |
Quote:
What she said, only I didn't squeal. Just a big, silly-assed smile on my face, that's all. I'm happy for the little guy, and you two as well! |
When do you go to Alaska? :grins:
|
Excellent! I'm glad the little puffball found a good home.
|
Aw!!!! Love the photos!!!!!!!! :D
He looks SO happy and hoppy! :snap: |
Quote:
Lampwick. I don't know why, he just looks like a Lampwick. |
Well, in his time wandering to day, he did a lot more sniffing then nibbling. He's pretty responsive to gentle nudging away from things. But it'll be a long time, if ever, that he'll be allowed completely unsupervised wandering.
Did I mention he likes to nuzzle? |
GD - wait until he starts kissing you. He did that last night for a bit - kept licking my arm while I was holding him.
He's a great bunny, and he's got a great mom and dad now! :) |

Quote:
Did anyone mention rug fringe? bascially, if its small, they will chew it. But, I am sure he'll let you know where his preference lies. Quote:
He will. I see he got GD, but he'll get the house too. On the upside bunny poo is easy to clean up. Thank you for taking bunny in! I was in love, and wanted to get him, but just couldnt justify it with my cats. |
I miss him :(
Still no name...hopefully today something will stick. Boy does he like his hay. |
Quote:
You look so cute with him! I'm sure he'll be a spoiled rotten bunny, just as life should be! |
My friends used to have a towel on their laps for their guinea pigs when out of the cage. Perhaps that would help prevent any clothing destruction.

Velcro?!?! LOL!!! :D
My brother had a rabbit named Harvey, and a friend of mine had one named Stu (Stew). ;) |
I used to have a lopeared bunny named DC10
and a dwarf hamster named Scrotum |
Awww cute bunny! I had a mini lop that looked just like that in high school, I named him Bugsy, I know not very imaginative. Little did I know while I was at school my brother, who I lived with, was feeding him greenery so I came home every day to a stoned bunny!
Of course that came back to bite him in the butt a little while later when he left a Z on the coffee table and Bugsy ate most of it! lol Soon after that he kicked me and the bunny to the curb. At least he waited until I graduated to throw us both out. I'm glad you brought the little guy/girl home. He will have a wonderful home with both of you. |
Stewie. :D

That's an awesome name!!! :D |
Tori just saw the bunny, and she's in luv....
She also thinks you should name him Sirius, as in Sirius Black. I thought that was a pretty good one too! |
Oooh! Sirius is good! Go Tori!
|
I'm at work. Until 9. Won't see bunny until then. I'm in pain.
|
Just adorable! I vote for Sirius. :)
|
We've named him.....Munchkin. Alternately, Munchykin. 'Cause he's munchy! :)
He peed on GD tonight. Twice. Back in the cage with ya 'till you get it right! |
He's just marking his turf. Cute name for a cute bunny!
|
Munchykin! Cuuute! Do they sell Pampers for rabbits?
|
The first time I understood...I was giving the "turn him upside down and rub his belly to hypnotize him" trick, and he wasn't cool with it. So I got what was coming to me. The second time, I just had him in my lap petting him :(
|
Nature's Miracle works really well on pet pee spots. It gets rid of the smell according to Ralphie.
|
He peed a third time last night, on the carpet. GD used vinegar on it and that worked just fine. He rinsed out his clothes immediately, of course.
I'm sure it's just a matter of time before I get the pee treatment. |
Maybe you should have named him Puddles. ;)
He's still a baby and learning. I've been pee'd on by every pet I've ever had. It's kinda like "initiation". White vinegar is one of the best pee cleaners/odor neutralizers out there. It's also excellent for cleaning the litter box and cage. |
Sprinkles!
|
Munchkin, the Bunny-Shaped Sprinkler.
:p |
Sprinkles, the Bunny-Shaped Munchykin?
:D |
I had sort of started to refer to him as Mickey, but Munchykin is cute too!
Thank you guys SO much for adopting him! Okay, so the entire backstory on Munchykin: I was getting out of my car at home, and as I walked past, I saw some folks at their parking spot with something black and furry in their hands. I said, "Awwwww, is that a puppy?" And the guy said, "No, it's a bunny. Do you want it?" "What? Seriously? No, I can't my dog's a rabbit killer, he'd kill it!" "Yeah, she (meaning his friend, the blonde, irresponsible one) can't keep it. We were just gonna release it in the field..." "NO! You can't release a domesticated animal into the wild! Please don't do that!" etc. And then one of the friends, actually it may have been the same guy, asked the blonde about calling an animal shelter (pound, basically). I said NO! They'll kill it too! And basically begged her to hang on to it for 24 hours for me to find it a home. Luckily, D-phile came to the rescue, so I went back over and got the bunny. When I went back, knowing I was going to take the bunny, the blonde had taken her 2-year old into the bath (because the kiddo loved the bunny, obviously). And the woman standing out front told me more of the story. The woman out front was the daughter of the owner of the condo. Blondie and her daughter lived with them, a renter, basically. Well, one day blondie shows up with this bunny, without asking anyone, mind you, and they were basically like, well, okay, it shouldn't be a problem. Well, it might not have been, except that, as we've already established, blondie isn't the most resposible of people. She has this tendency to take off for a couple days at a time, without bothering to tell anyone she's going or when she'll be back. So a couple days would go by, and the homeowner would be like, we've got to feed that rabbit! So they decided enough was enough and were making blondie get rid of bunny. Blondie was trying to give it to one of her friends (with whom I apparently interacted), but they couldn't take it for some reason. She claims the "release it in a field" thing was just a joke, but given blondie's history, I still wasn't about to leave bunny with her, because God only knows where he'd have ended up. So there ya have it, irresponsible woman who can't even take care of a bunny but is charged with the care of a 2-year old child (Lord help us), and imposing upon her rather permissive and forgiving landlady. But thanks to the generosity of Disneyphile and all the wonderful folks here who showed interest in adopting him, he's now in a wonderful forever home. :) |
I want to thank Morrigoon publicly for doing such a fabulously good deed that has given us a chance to be loving parents. Already he's changing our lives for the better (pee aside - he is still a baby.)
Oh, and we have been making good use of the white vinegar. |
He is still a baby, so he'll get better as he grows. Even if he doesn't, you can contain him in areas easily cleaned when you let him out of the kennel- bunnies are usually pretty mellow and don't get into too much mischief. He really is adorable- I'd have taken him in a heartbeat, and I am overloaded with animals at the moment!
|
|
Love the video! Wow, he's FAST!
And I'd like to publicly thank Disneyphile, whose contribution (by volunteering to foster and cleaning up the cage, getting appropriate food, etc) was easily twice mine. |
That video was SO cute!! Although, I'm really surprised he didn't pull that book down. But, he'll figure out how soon enough. ;)
Ours has learned to pick stuff up and throw it out of her way! |
That video is awesome. Love how he runs superfast in circles. Cuuuute! :)
|
Wow! Bunny on speed! He's like Tango is when she got an imaginary adversary! Very cute video!
|
I wasy trying to talk to GD on the phone yesterday about a LoT troll and he kept giggling. Now I see why. What a cutiepie!

I sent the video to my bunny friend here at work and all she had to say was, that is one happy bunny. Doing the bunny dance!:)

NA - the links didn't work.
I knew you guys had to see the video to believe how fast he is! I'm so scared he's going to scamper behind the couch and force us to move everything to get him out again. I hope to find something today to pen him in (filled with fun things to play with, of course :) ) |

So far, he's been good about not chewing. Actually, he hardly even chews on the sticks of wood we bought for him to chew on (he'd better start, else he'll have to have his teeth filed regularly). But long term we'll be setting up cord-free zones for him to wander in. |
What are you guys feeding Munchkin? Rabbit pellets? Lettuce? Carrots?

He didn't pee on me last night, though he got the carpet a couple times. But I'm pretty sure that's because he was intent on claiming a particular corner (with pillows, dark hidey-places, and a tunnel created by the couch and lamp table) for his own. I'd have been happy to give it to him, but unfortunately it's home to a lamp cord, a phone cord, and phone power cord as well as behind-couch access. So much for that. |
OMG that is one turbo bunny. Just too adorable.
|
See, GD. You said you were looking for a new hobby. Now ya got one. :)

For all his speediness he can be so serene! He loves to nuzzle. If you rub his nose and head he freezes and just takes it in. I put him on my chest and nuzzle him with my chin. If I stop he pushes closer and nudges me! :) |
Awww I <3 NotKitty! He's so fast!
I love the LoT plug in the video. |
Well, we found something at Home Depot for all of $12...that almost worked. Some decorative plastic garden edge fencing that turns out to be just a tad short. Took him all of an hour to figure out how to jump over it. So tomorrow it's back to the Depot to hopefully find some sort of mesh material to attach to it and extend the height a bit. If that works out, it's perfect. We can close off our livingroom area, which is a good amount of space and let him wander unsupervised and have free access to his cage.
Wait, breaking news...looks like CP just found a way to double up the fencing that might do the trick. Score. |
I dunno....that rabbit's dynamite!
:D (Sorry- couldn't resist). |
Vet said he's perfectly healthy and confirmed everything we've been doing.
|
Very cool! He's an awesome bunny. You did good!
|
So cute! We've been thinking of getting a bunny. More bunbun videos!
|
Ask and ye shall receive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlf66mJddrA So, now we're totally set up. We doubled up the plastic fencing (one layer right side up, one layer upside down). That makes it stable, too heavy for him to push under, and too tall to get over. We've plugged up all the escape routes/access paths to wires, and his cage is part of the barrier. So when we're home, we just open the cage and let him have free roam in the livingroom, no worries. We're thinking that once we let him exist in this setup for a while, we may even feel confident enough that we can just never have to close up the cage. He loves just chilling behind the vertical blinds staring out the glass door. He also likes running around behind our big chair, a great little dark tunnel for him. He's a happy bunny. |
He is sooooo affectionante!
|
I can't believe how active he is- my bunny was a total slug. Maybe there was always something wrong with him, and I've been blaming the poor kitties all these years......
|
I have to say that you two are the best bunny parents ever!!!! :snap:
|
Remember, Munchkin's only about 7 weeks old. I'm sure he'll calm down as he gets older.
|
I hope not- he's cute, bouncin' around like he does!
|
My parents have said that about me for 32 years now... :D
|
What, that you'd calm down as you got older?:D

I don't have the attention span to read CoasterMatt's non-video clip posts.

The kitties are FASCINATED by the bunny. We let Scoundrel met him first and he's enamoured. Last night, Jack and Dexter got to meet him and, as he hopped toward them, they backed away in fear. Funniest thing ever.
Bunny is saying in the bathroom for the moment. I let him run free most of the time and I have little bunny poops all over the bathroom now. Awwwwww. I put him in his cage when we went out last night and, when I got home, I opened the bathroom door. I walked away for a second and when I came back there were 5 cats all staring into the cage. I wouldn't leave them alone without supervision, but they cats seem to love the bunny - and not in a lip smacking way. |
My parents used to have a bunny who I believe thought he was a cat, being that he was surrounded by 8 of them. He would eat cat food and snuggle next to them and they would get pretty perturbed at first. Later, they grew resigned to the fact that he was going to be hopping around with them all the time.
Very cute to watch. :) |
This is so the cutest thread ever.
|
Gotta love the Munchykin!! :D
|
I think he's adorable, and I am really proud of how everyone pulled together for him. Think of it- we have so many animal adopters around here, between NA and her kitties, Kevin and his rescued dragons, and now Munchykins. And, thanks to another rescued dude, I got a cool sig line! Don't know what the hell it says, though.....
|
Only Charlie knows for sure.
So, Chris has bunbuns for the moment. I made him hold him while I took off my wedding garb and got more comfy. He's amusing himself (the buns not Chris) by grooming his chest hair. :cutesmilie: I had him earlier today after i got back from 3 dog walks, no shower before leaving, and I was scummy! Bunbunss LOVED it! I got a complete facial care of a tiny little bunny tongue. Yummmmmmm! Salty sweaty dirty, dog and car hair covered face. |

Grrr, little bugger's too smart for us. We've been slowly patching the gaps in our defenses to keep him penned into the living room area as he found weaknesses. But last night, he finally figured out how to scale the main portion of the fencing. So without major modification or finding a wholly new solution, the fencing option is out.
So it looks like we're going the opposite route and just going to let him roam free. I'm heading to the hardware store at lunch to pick up vinyl tubing to bunnyproof all the wires. The good news is, this will hopefully make us better people as we'll now have to be mindful of the crap we leave on the floor. No more shoes piled in the livingroom. |

I cant imagine what my son will be like come teenager hood. The amount of socks and shoes one seven year old can leave in the living room in four hours astonishes me. And you have THREE!!! Yeah, we're going to hell too. |

Fences are no match for bunnies - they're smart little creatures. My last bunny learned to jump over the coffee table lengthwise, clearing it by a couple feet all around. It quickly turned into one of his favorite "sports". ;) |
I just hope he doesn't want to sit behind the stereo and munch on vinyl coverings all the time.
I've noticed since we got back that he's much less willing to let us pick him up. It's a bummer, since I used to put him on my chest and nuzzle him - now he jumps away. :( Maybe it's a growing up thing. As for crap on the floor - I'll be very glad to have a reason to keep the living room more clean. I'm already vacuuming more often due to the shavings that stick to socks and are transferred all over the house. Of course this means the bedrooms will now more piles of shoes and crap on the floors. ;) |
Quote:

Keep that hard crust of bread around for him to chew.
He was on and off snuggly with us. He was more interested in my desk or the cats than just sitting still. He's a baby. He's got to explore! |
Just keep up the handling of him... don't let him grow unaccustomed to being held.
