Incoming!!! (Wendybeth & Co)

Well, in three weeks we will (finally!) be coming down to Dl for a visit, and I would love to meet up with some Swanksters while we're there. We'll be there from June 19th thru the 24th, and aside a side trip to American Girl place on the 21st and dinner at Medieval times on the 20th we are pretty open. Tori's actual b-day is the 22nd, and we are planning on spending the day at the park. If anyone wants my cell number, feel free to pm me. It'd be really cool if we could arrange a Swanking during the time we're there, but I'll understand if it doesn't happen due to time and scheduling constraints.

I cannot wait- I am sooooooooooooooooo very ready for this! It'll be great to see you guys!
:D

scaeagles 05-29-2006 02:33 PM

Hey, WB - I'll miss you by just a couple of days.....

FEJ 05-29-2006 02:38 PM

YAY!
MAybe this time I will get to meet you!

That would be very cool- to finally get to meet the elusive Uber!!!:snap:

It would have been great to have our visits at the same time, Scaeagles- I would have went for the balcony seating just to run into you!

BarTopDancer 05-29-2006 02:57 PM

ooo The 24th is the PotC premier!

Yeah- when we booked the trip the ride was supposed to re-open on the Girl's b-day, then after we had already paid for it they rescheduled everything. No Fantasmic, or Pirates ride....(sob). Bastards.

cirquelover 05-29-2006 03:29 PM

Have a great time! I'm sure Tori will have a wonderful birthday at the park. I'm sorry we won't be down there to see you guys again.
Have a wonderful trip!

Not evil in the least. I might have bought you the ticket if you were going to be there at the same time....since you timed your trip so poorly to miss it and everything.

You obviously don't believe in karma.

:p

scaeagles 05-29-2006 04:04 PM

Yeah I do - and it looks like you're gettin' yours now.

Wanna know what day I'll be seeing it?

wendybeth 05-29-2006 04:11 PM

Sure- I'm certain the locals would like to know what day it's going to rain.:D

scaeagles 05-29-2006 05:41 PM

Well, my trip is June 11-16. Probably will rain every day.

Gemini Cricket 05-30-2006 08:14 AM

Sounds like it's going to be fun, wenchybeth! Take lots of pictures! :)

MickeyLumbo 05-30-2006 08:34 AM

DL opens at 6:30am on the 24th.

maybe NA will plan a breakfast meet.:D

Gemini Cricket 05-30-2006 08:35 AM

6:30am? Isn't that early?

Disneyphile 05-30-2006 05:37 PM

As long as this time won't involve a post-Tortilla Joes ride through It's a Smell World, I can't wait! ;)

wendybeth 05-30-2006 06:33 PM

Awww, come on- that may have stinky, but it was fun! :D

We will have to sink something, though, and POTC is out......What else can we mess with while we're there?

(And it will be really great to see you, DP!)

CoasterMatt 05-30-2006 08:37 PM

I don't know if I'll be able to meet up this time, seeing as the monkey and I now work for Universal :)

Motorboat Cruiser 05-30-2006 08:57 PM

Wendy, I better get a chance to meet you this time!

wendybeth 05-30-2006 09:00 PM

Are you gonna be there, MBC? That would be really great! We could plot against....never mind. I'll PM you.

CM- haven't you been working for Uni all this time? I'd miss not seeing you and Monkey!!!!!!:(

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 05-30-2006 10:31 PM

I say Tortia Joes and Small World sinking should be an annual stink... um.. event!! Yes!

I'll be there with ears on.... !

CoasterMatt 05-30-2006 10:35 PM

The thing is, being a new hire, she won't have the flexible scheduling I have clawed my way to.

wendybeth 05-30-2006 10:51 PM

Yay, Bornieo!!!!

CM- I say you claw up her supers; I'm sure they're asking for it.:D

wendybeth 06-07-2006 09:59 PM

Just wanted to bump this up and see if we have an idea when/what/where things might happen? Also, so remind myself that the next four days of hell I'm putting myself through at work will be worth it in two short weeks time.....

(I am booked out for four months solidly, so when I take time off I have to do double time before and after vacation to get everyone in).

I am very much looking forward to seeing everyone- have I mentioned that before?:D I'm also looking forward to a triple-shot South of the Border at UVA. Been a tough year.

MickeyLumbo 06-07-2006 11:12 PM

today's meeting really dumped a whole new world of workload in my lap... i really don't know yet what my schedule will be during your visit. but i will do my best to get a chance to visit with you.

Cadaverous Pallor 06-08-2006 11:23 AM

Your only day at the park is June 22nd, right? Bummer, I have a high school graduation to attend. Hope you have a great time though!

LSPoorEeyorick 06-08-2006 12:42 PM

Man, Tom and I are in Michigan during your trip. What a total bummer. Will you be back later this year?

innerSpaceman 06-08-2006 07:30 PM

Um, isn't June 22 a Wednesday???

Ugh, it would be tough, but if that's the only day .... i could potentially make it late in the evening.

Grrrr.

I believe there will be other days in the Park. The 22nd is Tori's actual BD.

For you LA folks, hows abote a Grove meet on the 21st. Chris and I will both be there in the aftornoon and onward until we take the wenchy family back to Anaheim.

Kevy Baby 06-08-2006 07:54 PM

Hey Wendy: Wanna take a dragon or two home with ya?

innerSpaceman 06-08-2006 08:47 PM

Ok, I could likely do the Grove in the evening, after work.

Getting to Anaheim after work, however, is a pain.

Are there any weekend Wendydays at the Park? (not to be confused with blustery days of the Pooh variety.)

wendybeth 06-08-2006 09:13 PM

Actually, we'll be in the Park three days, excepting dinner at MT on the 20th and the AG/Grove day on the 21st. So, the 22nd and 23rd will be all park days. I think. The 20th is a partial Park day. I think. Have I mentioned I need a vacation????

iSm, we fly out on Saturday.:( I had booked this whole thing around the Girl's b-day and the (old) re-opening of the POTC. Then the *^&#*'s went and switched days on us, long after we'd paid for the trip.... Anyway, excepting the MT dinner on the 20th and the AG/Grove day, we're at the Park.

Good try, KB. I'll trade you a few Zebra finches, okay?

Snowflake 06-09-2006 04:48 AM

I wish I could be, I'll be driving by then. You have a great trip!:D

Snowflake 06-12-2006 04:49 PM

Okay, bumping this up since Leo's done his drive by ;)

I won't be there, except by cell phone (if I can get my timing worked out) and want to vicariously enjoy the plans for the Wendybeth meet.

:D

Not Afraid 06-12-2006 04:53 PM

So, all of you Southerners.....do you have plans to have a weeknight meet at the park?

Are any of you Northerners going to meet us at The Grove on the 21st?

Inquiring minds want to know.

wendybeth 06-15-2006 09:08 PM

Tomorrow is my last day at work until the 28th.:D

That is all.

Then I would have to hire you to sue yourself.:D

Not Afraid 06-15-2006 10:22 PM

YAY! Soon we will be having tea and trying......well, we'll be having fun I don't doubt.

Cal me when you get into town and we'll make final plans. Chris will be joining us IF he doesn't have to become one of 12 angry men.

wendybeth 06-15-2006 10:28 PM

Lol!!! I'm just picturing the Guru of Xenarchy and all things Swanky in the midst of 11 other dudes and dudettes, totally throwing off the proceeding with his existentially nihilistic take on the law.

Urg! Winning and losing at the same time!

So, for those of us too lazy to go look it up, care to give a refresher on your itinerary? I want to correctly focus my hexes good wishes.

wendybeth 06-15-2006 11:30 PM

You know, I am just sure that the copyright grades are late because somebody did so off-the-charts great that the profs are running every possible test to see if that person did so in an entirely legal and un-penguinlike manner.....

(Does that suck-up get rid of the hex potential? I walk a very thin luck line....)

Prudence 06-16-2006 10:50 AM

I swear there were no penguins involved! Although they say most grades should be posted by the end of the day. (Continues chewing on what's left of fingernails.)

I notice you failed to relist your itinerary, missy!

Brigitte 06-16-2006 02:08 PM

Got room for a stowaway?

Disneyphile 06-16-2006 04:55 PM

I would love to do a weeknight meet next week!!

wendybeth 06-16-2006 09:15 PM

Yayy, DP! Okay, for the benefit of Dear Prudence, who is apparently scroll-back impaired (;)) here's the plans thus far:

Arrive in Anaheim around 8 pm on Monday. (It was supposed to be earlier, but they keep switching our Seattle connection). Then we check in at the BW PP Inn, where they'll be sure to put us in the crappiest room they have. (It's my hotel karma).

Tuesday, we may attempt to get to the Park early- we have an early entrance to Toontown that I think we can use that day. Then again, we will probably sleep in. We'll wind up at the Park eventually, but have to leave for Medieval Times at 4-ish. I plan on hitting the Park again when we get back, though.

Wednesday, it's the Grove and American Girl Place. NA gets to play Tour Guide- lucky girl!

Thursday and Friday are completely open, spend at the Park days, and Saturday we have to go home.:(

If any of those days are horrible, it's Prudence's fault.

lizziebith 06-16-2006 10:13 PM

I am a late thread-clicker...and am sorry to observe that I'll be ensconced at work for the duration of her visit. *hearty sniffles* Yowza and I send hugs!

Are you kidding?! I've been sitting on my ass all day. I don't have time to scroll back! Are you trying to invoke my hex powers?

You'd better have a good time and give a thorough report.

Oh, and have you been through Seatac (I'm assuming you're going through Seatac) since they remodeled that atrium area? If not, you should check it out. For pokey little Seatac it's pretty nice.

Prudence 06-16-2006 10:33 PM

Oh, and I want to hear all about Medieval Times and their "real" medieval menu!

wendybeth 06-16-2006 10:47 PM

I've been there before, and if memory serves (and it's hazy, as they were having a Corona and Cuervo special in the courtyard bar prior) it involved poultry pieces, ye olde bbq riblets, some funky soup served in a dish with a handle, the traditional corn-on-the-cob that was so beloved in times of olde, and bread, Medici style. (Garlic). I spent most of the time commenting on what fabulous hair our champion had, at least according to the tape we made of the event. Eric must have said 'wench' to our server at least twenty times more than was appropriate.

" We' won, of course. :D

Ghoulish Delight 06-16-2006 11:18 PM

When I went to MT many eons ago, they served potatoes  Oh well, at least I got to call the watiresses "Wench".

Prudence 06-16-2006 11:37 PM

I almost mentioned the potatoes! I saw something on the food network or travel channel about MT and they were going on and on about the authentic food - including the foil-wrapped baked potatoes. Still, it sounds like silly fun.

wendybeth 06-16-2006 11:40 PM

It is very silly, good fun. I may stay sober for this one, so I'll be able to give a more accurate report.

Prudence 06-16-2006 11:48 PM

Bonus points if you wear a pointy princess hat!

Cadaverous Pallor 06-17-2006 10:14 AM

So, what is going on with a meet?? There's nothing on the calendar and there's no way I remember what went on in this thread. Someone decide! :)

wendybeth 06-17-2006 11:13 AM

Why don't we shoot for Thursday evening? We're going to be in the Park all day for the kid's actual b-day, and it's a weeknight so DP can be there. Friday works as well, so whatever the consensus works out to be works for us!

MickeyLumbo 06-17-2006 11:43 AM

the earliest i can meet up on thursday or friday will be 2045... that is if i am all caught up grading papers. and saturday, i am working the premier from 1400 - 2300.

wendybeth 06-17-2006 11:59 AM

Uhm- that's 8:45 ish, right? Non-military here, Mickster.;)

I'm fine with anytime- I plan on staying until closing both nights.

Not Afraid 06-17-2006 12:07 PM

I'm going to be flying by the seat of my pants for the week - except fo Wednesday when I've made arrangements to take some time off. I may end up at DL at some point during the week, I may not.

I'm being elusive. ;)

€uroMeinke 06-17-2006 12:29 PM

Well No jury duty for me on Monday - I have to call in Monday night to find out for later in the week

MickeyLumbo 06-18-2006 06:30 AM

WB: will you be in the Park for the red carpet arrivals on saturday???

wendybeth 06-18-2006 09:20 AM

No, we have to fly out at 2:00.:(

katiesue 06-18-2006 06:16 PM

We should be there most of the day Thursday and we're going to camp out Saturday for the red carpet - the munchkin just HAS to see the twins from Suite Life.

wendybeth 06-18-2006 07:02 PM

Tori would kill to see them- she's already miffed at missing the Pirate's ride, etc.

Is it just me or is one of the twins getting a bit on the pudgy side in the more recent episodes?

Oh, and WB, have a KA time at DLR, say hi to a LoT of swankers for me, be sure to grab a cool DW or two and don't forget to plan some CT for the pints. ;)

Totally - according to the munchkin it's Dylan/Zack. Did a total double take on a recent episode.

wendybeth 06-18-2006 09:38 PM

Okay- taking a break between running around like a maniacal idiot. It's almost weird to have had time off before going- I'm used to working late and then leaving early the next morning, and I've had the past two days off and won't leave Spokane until 2:00 pm. We should get to the hotel just in time to hear the fireworks.:)

Have we decided on anything, or is it just going to be a # exchange and meet up if/when we can? Either way works- just ask NA for my cell if you want to get ahold of me after I've left. I'll check back here before going....

Looking forward to seeing everyone- especially the KITTIES! at the Cone-Meinke rez. (Uhm, yeah- you and Chris too, Lisa....;) ).

cirquelover 06-18-2006 11:10 PM

Have a great trip! I'm sure it will be a memorable birthday for Tori.

wendybeth 06-18-2006 11:48 PM

Thanks, Cirque- I wish you and the boys were gonna be there! I am sooo ready for this- the biggest challenge is to relax enough to enjoy this. I am usually so worried about everyone having a good time that it kind of frys my own a bit, but after two glasses of white wine I am convinced this will be a nice, chillin' time. :)

Well, it looks like we're going to meet on Friday evening to watch Remember from a prime spot. Chris and I, ISM, Zap, Disneyphine, Frodopotter, Wenchybeth and family and whomever would like to join us. Disneyphile will be bringing one blanket, WB will have a small one and I'll bring one as well. Hopefully we will get there early enough to secure some prime camping space.

Anyone is welcome! Join us.

We had a birthday party for Tori at American Girl Place. Chris was such a good sport. He event carried around he little red AG prize bag for the resst of the day. He also spend some cash buying a coffee spoon at Sur la Table, a cocktail shaker and tray at C&B and a keychain with AG bauble at AG. MBC, are you working covertly behind the scenes?

ISM came over around 5:30 and we had dinner at the Farmers Market. It was a lovely day, but exhausting - especially for WB and Co. who had spent the previous evening at Medieval Times.

Yes, the Grove in Anahiem is the concert hall that use to be Tinsel Town Dinner Theater (was a great time, BTW!). It can be a little confusing having The Grove in LA and then The Grove in Anahiem right next to Garden Grove, and now the Garden Walk next to Garden Grove as well!

The Garden Grove Walk of Anaheim anyone??

So happy to have had a small part in the WB meet....my cell phone rings (while at dinner...more on that in a bit) and this person on the end says "It's Lisa". My sister in law is named Lisa, and she hates my guts, so I was trying to figure out why she was calling me from a noisy place - I thought she was drunk. Well, it turns out it was our own beloved NA (curse me giving her my cell number!), and I was happy to have had the chance to speak with WB (and NA as well, I suppose ;) ).

Anyway, dinner....I did excuse myself to answer my phone, as I figured it was my eldest daughter, who had her first solo babysitting experience of my two smaller ones tonight.

My business partner (who had the contacts and info on our current job....we have a fully distributed partnership at 50-50, but I do 85% of the work) and his wife took me and my wife out to a dinner to celebrate 10 years (as of June 6). He spared no expense....picked us up in a limo and took us to a 5 star resort called the Phoenician to dine at what is rated as one of the top three restaurants in Arizona called Mary Elaines. Quite generous, and I was really embarrassed. Once in a life time experience for me, certainly, and as I didn't see the bill, I saw the prices on the menu and wine list. I have never had such a culinary experience.

So, NA and WB - this is why I had to cut your call short. I needed to return to the table. I do thank you for thinking of me.

Congratulations Leo; you are now officially a phone whore.

Only in person can I immitate you trying to figure out how I was and then, suddenly, the light bulb flashed. Your "OHHHHHHH" was so classic.

Sorry to interrupt your dinner. We were going to call on Wednesday but we were too pooped ad it was late.

scaeagles 06-24-2006 03:29 PM

No problem on the interruption, NA. It isn't like I give you my schedule or anything (and I'm not about to start!). I just wanted to apologize.

So where are the WB meet photos?

You have no new mojo comments.

I'm back- the animals are all alive and well, the house is clean and the only semi-catastrophe that occured was when Tori's American Girl shampoo somehow managed to explode all over my clothes in my checked suitcase, drenching everything in coconut sudsiness. We had a blast, and I will post my pics and stuff first thing when I wake up from my post-vacation coma tomorrow (today).

Lisa and Chris- ty and you totally rock! Seriously, I am not unaware of the trouble you went through on our account and I am most appreciative. I especially appreciate the kitty fix mid-week; it really helped alleviate our feline withdrawels and I fell in love with all your wonderful kids. They were even sweeter than I could have imagined, even if Lyra did spend a lot of time in the kitchen wondering when the hell this latest batch of weirdos was going to leave.... As I type this I am being swarmed by our little furballs, and I already have cat fur in my eyelashes.:D

We have some really great pics from AG- Chris deserves a medal for being such a good sport, and Lisa is dangerous in any shop, even ones that cater to little tweeners.

Last night we closed the Park with iSm, Bartop and Zapppop- thanks for the great Space mountain trip, iSm!:snap: We had a long and horrid trip home, but we made it, and now I am going to crash. Thanks again to everyone!

Last Night we made good use of the American Girl keychain - best investment ever. Thanks Wendybeth & Tori - it was a blast having you down and can't wait to devise some other off-property activities for your next trip.

How is it that you have 233 total private messages? Isn't the limit 100?

Yet another liberal who thinks the rules don't apply to them.:p ;)

Lol- I really should have bought one of those keychains..... Did anyone decide the 100 lb and stupidest toy questions? I'll get busy on loading the pics here in a bit- still trying to wake up. The animals are all being total cuddlebugs right now- they'll get bored with us pretty soon, but for the moment it's purr and slobber city.

Scaeagles, we just didn't figure you needed a big PM capability.;):p

Oh, and I forgot to re-charge my phone so I was phoneless most of Thursday- I got a voicemail from Katiesue to try and meet up, but I wasn't able to listen to it until the next day. The whole day Thursday was kind of a mess- we didn't know about Grad Night and the Park closing at 9 until we heard the fireworks going off early. So we went to that horrible Captain Kidds, where Tori had a mouse-eared pancake and I had their version of the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster. Lots of pissed off tourists in there that had no clue about the Grad night thing.

well that would certainly explain why i could not reach you:(

lots off pissed of Guests last night too. i was verbally assaulted several times and physically threatened once. somehow, while remaining firm with my instructions to the Guests, i was able to keep a smile and say thank you, have a nice day.

funny how the women swear worse than the men!

sorry i missed you wenchybreath, but, i know there will be a time to visit again soon. i am glad you had a wonderful vacation.

after all the work i have been doing and the gruelling schedule, i have been granted a paid 4 day weekend July 1-4!

i'll take it:snap:

wendybeth 06-25-2006 01:46 PM

I saw where you'd phoned, ML- one time I'd been in a ride area so I didn't have reception, and another was when the battery was dead. I'm sorry I missed you, but we're shooting for an October trip so I hope to meet up with you then! I knew you'd be terribly busy, so no worries- just sorry you had to contend with the angry mobs! The Premier hours were posted everywhere, so anyone who didn't know about that was probably clueless to begin with, but Grad nite was a surprise to a lot of people, not excluding the waitpersons at the Captain. They were totally unprepared for the rush, and when I told our server about the reason she smacked her forehead and said "That's right! I'd forotten all about that!" If I'd have known about Grad night ahead of time, I would have switched days for Medieval Times. Oh, well, live and learn.

wendybeth 06-25-2006 06:36 PM

Okay- slowly loading pics, but for some reason a bunch of them didn't go so I have to re-do them.
Anyway, here's the first bit:
