Holy crap. Some of these are actually beautiful. Others...well...not so much. :)

In case no one else has noticed, online voting starts on Friday. If you're willing to view them all you could help pick the winner!.

There is also a link to the past winners.

And I had trouble in costume class designing a dress out of brown paper for a damn doll. Boy, I'm impressed. (I wonder how many had the help of a professional?)

Prudence 06-13-2006 01:45 PM

There's a certain level of geekiness inherent in a duct tape prom outfit, so I suspect many couples have at least one partner involved in renfaire or similar re-enactment and/or fantasy groups that require funny clothing as a basis for participation. So professional help may not have been necessary.

The rules also never stated that you couldnt BUY a dress and just cover it.
And with that in mind, a few of the dresses look as if they did just that.

I guess I didn't realize that duct tape s anything other than silver. Well, now that I think about it, I've used blue.

I guess I was pre-picturing something a little more Blade Runner-esque.

Oh, I saw plenty of that too. Some of these young people have a vision I cant quite... fathom.

Well, entry #3605, I know I've seen a pattern for in the fabric store... hell, she didn't even sway from the color scheme on the package

Prudence 06-13-2006 05:39 PM

I liked the girls done up as playing cards with little purses to match.

Drince88 06-13-2006 06:36 PM

Reminds me of the Blue Tarp Fashion show! (Unfortunately, I never did see a good set of pictures from that online!)

€uroMeinke 06-13-2006 07:29 PM

These look too much like real outfits. I would want a duct tape outfit to say "Duct Tape." I think the designs need to employ electrical cable, torn upolstery and other things usually associated with duct tape. That or two simple strips across the nipples.

The first thing that came to mind with this was Wendy O. Williams (RIP), but I decided against posting a pic.

Of course, there is always this:

I thought I felt my ears burning...

Might not be safe for work...

When did you suddenly develop restraint in posting risqué images in the LoT...? ;)

BLEACH!!! I need bleach!!

There was a white and lime green couple that instantly reminded me of a dinette set my parents had in the 70's.

tracilicious 06-16-2006 12:49 PM

That was awesome. Some of those kids are very creative. I voted for the war memorial one. They seemed to be the only ones that added some extra meaning to the outfit.

Disneyphile 06-16-2006 05:05 PM

OMG. I would NEVER let my kid(s) out of the house wearing this:

She looks kinda nice.

He looks like a major dweeb.

No kidding - All of that tape work, and he couldn't even dye his hair grey, put on a beard? :D

lizziebith 06-20-2006 10:43 AM

The one wear she was Venice (complete with canals) and he was a gondolier was the best for prom-night subtext!

Gemini Cricket 06-20-2006 10:45 AM

The Cinderella pic is pretty good! :)
