which way?
recently, my manager asked me to do a special project at the Resort. I was happy when i learned what it was.
imagine being a new CM, with NO background being a disneygeek or reference on how to navigate the Resort. imagine arriving on your first day and after getting off the cast shuttle, having no clue where to go from there... whether it was to costuming, team center, cast health, your work location, Inn Between, casting, etc. it could be overwhelming...particularly if you are running late. or what if you went backstage and got lost, not knowing how to get back to your location... or opened a door or gate to find -**surprise**- Guests standing there:eek: i was asked to map out backstage roads, gates, entrances, exits, stairways, tunnels, bridges, diners and break areas. then on the map, i was to indicate where signage could best be utilized and what it might read., i.e., "<-- to fantasyland" or, "cast member entrance", or, "entering onstage area". well, there are actually many roads and paths backstage that on a map could not be identified because there are simply no names. but that will soon change. for the next few weeks, cast members have access to maps on the portal and several "roads" are labeled (1), (2), (3)...etc. for each numbered road, there is a list of five name choices that each cast member may vote on... i.e., Enchanted Way Retlaw Avenue Roundhouse Road Walt Disney Street Sherman Lane Herbie Hill etc., there is a committe of folks working on this project. the winning votes will be announced on july 17. what do you think? |
Why a committee? I think you could handle this one on your own and do a better job than any committee!
|
BTW: I'll be having dinner tonight with the ex-half-step-sister who is a CM and see what she says
|
Part of the fun is getting the new hires lost...
|
I think that's cool. It's a big project and it's in the right hands. :)

Wow, what a great opportunity! Just think of all the people you can help out with your expertise. I'm sure the new CM's will greatly appreciate all the hard work you put into this project!
I think it would have been fun to suggest the names for the roads. Imagine the possibilities. |
Talk about leaving your mark on the park! :snap:
|
CM ex-half-step-sister says the idea is :snap: :snap:
Her boyfriend (also a CM) agrees |
thanks. this feels nice.

I think this is such an exciting project to be involved in! You are making a difference in the long term. How exciting!
|
do the street names have to be so gay, though?
|
There better be a "Portobello Road" somewhere in there ;)

I'm sure we could come up with better names. ;)
No way I'd do this without including Cherry Tree Lane. (kinda gay but c'mon!) |
Corn Dog Alley?
|
What an exciting project!
The road behind BTMRR - Red Long John Way |
Do they still have the big trash compactors behind Main Street? If so, then you could name that area "Eisner Avenue" or "Pressler Place".

I vote for:
Geek Street AP Alley Disnoid Drive pAssholder place |
What a great opertunity! Please do post the results, if that's ok.
And there are so many good (read serious) choices! Although I like Corn Dog Alley (or the gay version Corn Dog Shoot;) ). I'm drawing a blank now, but Walts Ranch (I'll think of it when I sign off) Burbank Way (no, that would form resintment) I guess they would be best labled to link it to where the road is or goes, like the one that the parade steps on stage that leads to the Round House as Round House Way. And a lot of the streets in Burbank use Character names, so best not to use those. Good luck and have fun! ~Bob |

Wedway Way? Passhole Parkway? (seriously though, I hope tributes, such as Sherman Way, Dominguez Drive, Lillian Lane, etc., are what get used.) I just thought of another, Atencio X-ing. :D And some more, Frees Fairway, Wagner Walk, Renaday Road, Thoroughfare Ravenscroft, Alley Boag, Gurr Grade, and Linkletter Loop. |
