Rocket Man
If you have a history of heart disease, back trouble, are pregnant, allergic to bologna, sitting in a green chair, living in a state that doesn't end in s or a, or have any sort of taste that one might consider "good" you might not want to click this link.

No one does interpretations like Shatner - and I think that's a good thing.

Now I'm thinking of his more famous Lucy in the sky with Diamonds, and also i has brought to mind Leonard Nemoy singing the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins.
Hysterically funny. |
Ah, but have you heard his Mr. Tamborine Man? Yikes.
|
Ooooh! That was fun! I dig that multiple image crap!
However, my friend was not so amused. His response for subjecting him to that? "Next time I see you, I'm going to punch you right in the ovaries." Alas. |
I used to be in possession of both the Shatner album and the Nemoy album with the songs I've mentioned. I long ago lost or misplaced them.
I wonder if any of their stuff is on any music download sites.....I might just have to look into that because it's pretty funny. |

Back when I stole music I found a lot of Shatner/Nimoy floating around. I recently deleted them from my iPod when I realized that they didn't make me laugh anymore, they just annoyed me.
The end of Shatner's Mr. Tambourine Man is not to be believed. I love this video though - saw it before. I can't believe the Family Guy bit was real! |
Stewie's version is worth linking to:
Rocket Man Amazing how some things require no exaggeration in order to be parodied. |
OMG - the last time I saw this was when it was broadcast!
It changed my life - and how I viewed William Shatner. I am pleased that this exists in the ether. But I probably won't watch it again for another 25 years at least ;) |
Damn you Erica.

You guys need to see the Dinah Shore Portal of Hell :)
|
Funny how times have changed. I used to think that was absurdly stupid, and funny as such.
Now I find the interpretation awe-inspiring and completely appropos to the material and the artist. It's still funny as all hell, but also quite brilliant in a weird, weird way. (Are there videos for Mr. Tambourine Man or Lucy in the Sky? I think I've heard Rocket Man a few times over the years, but I haven't seen it in decades. Heheheh, the visual makes all the difference!) |
Check this out... Lucy - fan art video

Absolutely. I was watching that show on tv when IT happened. I don't think I recovered for days.
I can't wait to share this with Isaac; so nice to be able to pass the beauty down to the next generation (no star trek pun intended); thanks, Erica! |
I first saw that in 1991, while working at Sunset Gower - some older coworkers told me about this horrifying version of Rocket Man that I just had to see...
I've got the tape they gave me somewhere around here, but it was just lifechanging. |
