Olszewski POTC piece to be released November 18, 2006

Disneygallery.com doesn't have the info yet, but Olszewski Studios' official site's personal appearances page indicates that Pirates will be released on November 18, 2006. It also confirms that the piece will be released at the Disney Gallery (like Haunted Mansion was) whereas the Clothier Corner and Photo Corner pieces being released on September 23 will be at Disneyana.

If you go to this link and then scroll down a bit, you'll see pictures of the Pirates piece, including the inserts and the top view of the "hidden room" and the inside of the Disney Gallery with the living room decorated as it had originally been designed as Walt and Lillian's apartment.

So is Robert Olszewski's health doing better? I remember a while back he was having problems. He must be doing better if he can make the appearances.

LOL- I just can't imagine the cost!

I'd love to collect them......but it would mean no more trips to the actual park in order to afford it.

Nephythys 08-02-2006 10:03 AM

I think they are nice to look at- but taking care of them. Dusting, finding a place for them-no thanks.

But they are pretty to see-

SzczerbiakManiac 08-02-2006 12:08 PM

I want/need to get a bunch of glass-enclosed curio cabinets to store all my collectible crap. I'm not a duster, but I am a collector.

Not Afraid 08-02-2006 12:10 PM

I don't care what it is you collect - and most of us collect something - collections take care, cleaning, dusting, organizing. Basically, they are a PINA and yet, we keep collecting.

That's why I like museums and galleries. All the enjoyment, none of the worry about its care.

I should tell that to myself in regard to libraries, and then maybe I wouldn't spend all my money on books...

innerSpaceman 08-02-2006 07:09 PM

Exactly .. why do I need these pieces at home, where I have no room to display them anyway ... when they can be seen and enjoyed by me at a place I already frequent ... and which is, by fortuitous happenstance, the inspiration for the pieces themselves?

Matterhorn Fan 08-02-2006 08:04 PM

Well, I don't see them as often as you do, but I can't see spending my money on these either. I don't have a place for something like this, and I certainly don't want to take care of it. Mine would sit in a box so nothing bad would happen to it, and what good would that be?

innerSpaceman 08-02-2006 08:22 PM

I could still go for the idea of getting a group of 20 together, each buying a piece in turn ... maybe we'd have to each get 3 or 4 before it's over. Getting together once a year, building Disneyland in miniature, having a party ... then going home with different pieces than those we arrived with ... till next time!

The problem with that is that those of us who DO buy them all have (pretty much) the same pieces.

We've got the Castle, the Train Station and the Hub.

Prudence 08-02-2006 08:40 PM

I still haven't bought any and I still want them all.

CoasterMatt 08-02-2006 08:50 PM

When's the churro cart coming out?

Not Afraid 08-02-2006 08:59 PM

I have the castle and the hub. I don't think I'm going to get any more, though.

I want to know why someone thought a pin cart took priority over a churro cart.

OK, fess up. Who's bought the pin cart?

cstephens 08-02-2006 10:00 PM

We've got the collection, including the character packs, Main Street vehicles and other miscellaneous pieces, including the various carts. We've got all the vehicles and characters out but only a few of the pieces out. Mansion was so cool that I had to make room so it could be out. Not sure if we'll have room for Pirates to be out at this time. Later this year, they're releasing the Main Street platform, on which you can put all the Main Street pieces. We're planning to buy a plexiglass box to put on top so we can use it as a coffee table and still see all the Main Street pieces inside, and that will free up some space in the cabinet.

We have Cinderella Castle from the WDW collection because a friend bought it for us, but we're not planning on getting anything else from the WDW collection.

Said friend is also collecting the entire DL collection. He has another friend who's only collecting the Main Street collection, with maybe a couple other attractions.

Not Afraid 08-02-2006 10:11 PM

The coffee table idea is great. I'd do a Disneyland Dining Table if I was going to go the whole 9 yards.

innerSpaceman 08-02-2006 11:05 PM

Funny, the only ones I really like so far are the ones that feature Trees very heavily. My two faves are Jungle Cruise and Tea Cups. I'm kinda meh about the buildings.

€uroMeinke 08-02-2006 11:10 PM

I was actually dissappointed with the Haunted Mansion - I thought the scene inserts while cool on themselves was a way of cheaping out in not creating the show building. Pirates may be more forgiving as he's recreated the apartment/Gallery - but I want the whole show building for that too.
