All things in moderation....?

:coffee: Sure a MI destroys smooth heart mussle cells but only the weak ones! :coffee:
Now where's the study that says drinking coffee helps mitigate the damage alchohol does on the liver? I'll drink to that one  |
What happens to those of us that don't drink coffee? One cup and death?!
:D |
Probably, but I suspect it would be induced by the vile taste. Not the presence of caffeine.
The press is notoriously horrible about summarizing medical studies and I would expect this to be the case here. I'd be interested to know if they filtered out other sources of caffeine, many people drink soda in quantities much larger than they would coffee. Also, since they were only studying short term effects how common the large consumption was. How many people drink four or more cups of coffee in an hour? |

My best friend lives in Seattle, center of the coffee universe, and he says coffee doesn't taste so bad if you mix in enough milk. To which I reply, "Then just give me milk!"
|
I like to take my excesses in moderation.
Would that be considered moderately excessive or excessively moderate? |
The former.
I lived in Seattle and didn't drink coffee. It was lonely. |
I drink about 2 cups a day and I don't dink any other source of caffine throughout the day (with the exception of an occasional iced tea or chocolate). My Mom died of a massiveheart attack. I'm doomed anyways.
|
Green tea, please.
(OK, any tea. But I'm now drinking to my health with green.) |
I'm scared of flying because I'm scared the plane will plummet to the earth with me inside, screaming and wetting myself whilst begging someone as helpless as I am for help.
I still fly. I'm scared that a drunk driver is going to run into me when I'm walking around my neighborhood at night, listening to some tunes and thinking about architecture. I still walk around my neighborhood at night. I'm scared that the things I sometimes put into my body will eventually lead to sickness. I still drink coffee, occasionally have a smoke, drink alcohol and eat fried chicken, complete with a butter drenched waffle. I'm scared of a lot of things, but I enjoy the things I like, and so long as those things are not an injury to others, I'm going to continue to enjoy them. If I live to be a hundred, I don't want it to be because of deprivation. |
I still live in the Seattle area and I still don't drink coffee. I've even worked as a barista. (But this was back when it started and they weren't called baristas yet.)

I've been doin' the coffee thing since I was 9. I used to use my milk money to get a small black java and a plain cake doughnut on the way to class .... in the 5th grade! you people are just freaks. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: |
To those who says coffee is bad for me: fvck off and give me my latte!
|
Where's our resident coffee expert when you need her? :)
|
Had a heart attack. (Said jokingly, of course, since I have no idea who the resident expert is)

Had a heart attack. :p |
No. Because then I would have had to deal with all the bull**** resulting from me using a smiley (and besides I posted one in the last week so my quota is up).
Also, it was a very last minute decision to add it after I submitted it and realized that with my luck it would turn out the expert was someone currently in the hospital near death so I wanted to make clear I didn't know who the person was. |
I drank 3 cups of coffee and skipped lunch today. I've lost track, does that mean I'm going to die of a massive coranary tomorrow or that I'll live to 115?

I'll take the contrary position and say "no."
|
I'll just be snotty and say "Do we care?" ;)
|
And I'll take the position of "cranky person who hasn't had coffee yet" and say "GRRRRRRRRRR! I NEED CAFFEINE!"

Oh fine: just inject a little sobering reality into the frivolity

Oddly enough, Kevin, that exact sentence is considered foreplay in lash's house.

Besides, I like this quote from the article: "Only heavy drinkers are not at risk," she said So, I say, DRINK UP and save your life!!!!!! |

I'm not sure if I should invite you over for a party, give you the number of my therapist, or invite myself over for a fried chicken complete with a butter drenched waffle dinner! :D |
I'm glad coffee is part of my healthy lifestyle
|
I don't drink coffee, consume minimal caffeine, have never smoked (other than once when 7 but my mom caught me and made sure the urge would never arise again), while I've tried various drugs none more than once, I don't eat red meat (or the other white meat), I run 2-4 half marathons a year.
And still I'm 100 pounds overweight and will probably die of a heart attack before I'm 50 except in my family men die of cancer before that. Live life, don't worry so much about tweaking the odds. |
Apropos of, well, almost nothing, I just felt like quoting this...

I shall serve out my life sentence here as I see fit, quibbling not over a few extra ticks on the clock. |

I drink coffee, black. Why put all that other crap in it? Usually one cup or so a day plus one or two Tab's are my caffiene quota.
|
I like my coffee like I like my woman: sweet and blonde
|
I like my coffee like I like my men... Strong, sweet & Hairy.
.....OK, so maybe I don't like my coffee hairy... |
