Help Leo pick his new avatar

OK.....here's how I'm feeling.

Personally sad. I miss my old work environment, and I feel like I'm ripping off my kids because I've always been there after school.

Professionally inadequate. I have no idea what I'm doing yet, and there is much to learn.

Overwhelmed. Like I said, there is much to learn. That's an understatement.

So....which fits best?

I was going to make a poll, but I can't put pictures (or at least I can't figure out how) into a poll. So here are the choices.

The original green man -

Constipated yellow man -

Current blue-green man -

Spikey haired red guy -

generic -

I am also open to suggestions anyone might have.

wendybeth 08-18-2006 09:58 PM

Yellow boy looks like he's got a ham up his... never mind.

I like the current one.

Crystal 08-18-2006 10:01 PM

Scaeelgles,

I have worked at home for almost 10 years....it would rip my heart out to not be with my kids every day after school too...I totally dig where you're coming from.

BUT, you know, you're doing what's best for you and your family RIGHT NOW.

You will feel better about this, or you will find a way to change it to suit the needs of your family. I have no doubt about that.

And, you're a good Dad for feeling sad about being away from your kids :(

Kevy Baby 08-18-2006 10:05 PM

I like spikey red guy. But I can't trust a guy who makes three threads for one topic.

scaeagles 08-18-2006 10:06 PM

I know. I can't figure out how that happened. I have WB (I think) working on it for me.

Crystal 08-18-2006 10:07 PM

Hey, what the hell happened? I finally reply to a post and then the post I replied to is GONE. AND, I tried to edit my mispelling af SCAEGLES name (sorry scaegles) and I can't fix it!?

Crystal 08-18-2006 10:08 PM

Oh, and NOW it's back!

scaeagles 08-18-2006 10:09 PM

No problem, Crystal. Just go with SCA and I'll know who you are talking about.

innerSpaceman 08-18-2006 10:09 PM

As I said in another thread about Leo's face-to-the-world, I like the blue one. It says sad, it says exasperated ... but yeah, not constipated or just complety depressed insane.

Blue.

(and please excuse our mess as, apparently, 3 mods, without knowledge of each others' actions, try to sort things out.)

Or hambutt... he answers to that too.

Now if we could just teach NA how to crop a picture...

Not Afraid 08-18-2006 10:42 PM

Oh shutup. ;)

Personally, I like spikey red guy but the consensus seems to be blue-green guy so far and that works as well. He appears resigned to fact that he has a ham in his rectum but is coping as best he can.

Sorry- I was battling wraiths in Dungeon Quest.

You feel strongly about this new avatar, don't you?;)

(Oh, and for all your bluff and bluster, I totally caught what Crystal did with regards to your young ones, and I concur with her. You're a good daddy. Your daughter can still kick your ass, but if you keep on being so sweet she won't want to).

wendybeth 08-19-2006 12:18 AM

Oh, I voted for blue guy as well, but my post disappeared. Damned Mods.

Sadly, all my kids want to damage me as much as possible. Did I ever tell you my oldest daughter has broken my nose twice? All you violent women scare the hell out of me.

Sub la Goon 08-19-2006 08:03 AM

I have 3 daughters who can beat me at will. Of course the 5 YO twins have to activate their Wonder Powers first.

Is that blue face on a sudoku background? Looks like agrid.

Matterhorn Fan 08-19-2006 05:26 PM

I like the original green one because it matches the color scheme of the LoT best.

Moonliner 08-19-2006 06:04 PM

I'd suggest you go with:

You are faced with a challenge, use your anger. It can make you strong.

Cadaverous Pallor 08-19-2006 10:17 PM

I don't like any of 'em! They make everything you post sound sad. Buck up, bucko.

RStar 08-19-2006 11:53 PM

How about this one?

It's really Krypton exploding, so it's sad and cool at the same time!

:D

Kevy Baby 08-22-2006 09:37 PM

Unfortunately, my copy of ImageReady is giving me fits. I downloaded all of your choices and was going to make an animated GIF that you could use that would incorporate ALL choices.

scaeagles 08-23-2006 05:39 AM

That would have been cool.

Although I'm cheering up a bit. May be getting closer to something neutral rather than sad.

RStar 08-23-2006 07:13 AM

Well, then.... that's .....umm..neutral.

scaeagles 08-23-2006 08:45 PM

How do ya'll like my new one?

SacTown Chronic 08-23-2006 08:47 PM

It doesn't make me want to cry anymore. Now if you could only do something about your posts....

Cadaverous Pallor 08-23-2006 08:48 PM

He looks like a zombie.....or he's trying to hypnotize me.

Vote Republican.....back me up in political threads....give me mojo.....

innerSpaceman 08-23-2006 08:48 PM

That's not neutral ... that's robotic.

Not the same thing.

I prefer any emotion, even sad ... over none.

Leo, I don't think you should choose your own avatar until this personal crisis has passed. Nominate someone to be your alter-ego to choose your representative avatar.

Not Afraid 08-23-2006 08:57 PM

GD, put the corn dog back, will ya?

scaeagles 08-23-2006 09:11 PM

Um...yeah. Tried that once, though against my will, and the outcome wasn't the greatest.

But c'mon ISM....I know you like it better than the original green guy. The original green guy scared you.

Motorboat Cruiser 08-23-2006 09:19 PM

I like it. It looks like someone who realizes the eventual results of the 2006 elections.

Sub la Goon 08-23-2006 09:21 PM

Ad for Prozac?

"Have a day."

€uroMeinke 08-24-2006 10:43 PM

I'va always liked the F-you smilie

scaeagles 08-26-2006 10:30 AM

I think it's going to be OK. So I'm upgrading the face.

I've been told that as soon as I'm up to speed and able to be productive without needing quite as much help, I can move my work hours earlier. I asked if I could work 6:30-3:00, and they said there is no problem with that eventually.

The kids are doing well. We've found them a ride home from school most of the time, so they'll just have to be home by themselves for a bit over an hour each day.

I'm getting a handle on the new stuff and have even accomplished some productive things this week.

My family told me today that they knew I'd be too sad if I don't coach this year, so they told me they want me to. While I appreciate their gesture, I'm not sure yet if I will. I had talked to my AD to give him a heads up, and he said that they will do whatever they can to have me not take a year off, including moving practice times to later in the evening (probably 7:00) so that I don't get home from work, kiss the wife and kids, and run off to a 5:30 practice. They will also said they will pay an assistant (unheard of at the JV level) to make sure I'm covered if something comes up. That might entice me to do it.

So.....the avatar is being upgraded.

Motorboat Cruiser 08-26-2006 11:06 AM

Glad to hear that things are improving. :)

innerSpaceman 08-26-2006 12:32 PM

On the life front, yes .... but (imo) the avatar still needs work. :p

scaeagles 08-26-2006 12:48 PM

I gotta admit I'm not too happy about it myself, but I can't do a sandard yellow thing. I thought about this one (perhaps not completely work safe, but not shocking) but it was too big.

I actually really, really like this one, but it was too big, too.
