Amazing Race 10
Has anyone else seen the teams for TAR 10? Interesting bunch...
|
I've never seen The Amazing Race...
|
Starts Sept. 17.
I'm not willing to wait for all those pages to load to see much more, but I'll be watching--if I can remember to tune in at 8:30. (Why not 8 or 9?) |
I refuse to watch since they didn't pick me for the show. That'll teach them.
|
Wow, Alex... that must be devastating.

I started watching on season 3 or 4... completely enjoy the show (with the exception of the "family" season). I'm waiting for the listing to show up in my comcast dvr, so I can program the show. I miss TiVo.....
|
Hummm...
Having the two bearded Muslim guys running through airports with large backpacks could have unintended results..... |
Unintentional comedy via bloodshed... sounds about right

I'll tell you what, next time we'll apply together. Two adult Disney nerds who've never actually met tossed together for a trip around the world. I think we'd make one hell of an odd couple.... |
I'll not divulge who I applied with, but I did send in an application. It was fun since I've only ever watched a single episode of the show (and so my boycott won't be much of a sacrifice).
Playing the game sounds like a grand adventure. Watching others do so, not so much. Actually, I am thinking of applying next time with one of my World of Warcraft guildmates. One of the ones I've never actually met in person and we could do a videoconference to make the application video or something. |

Man, you have to have a serious "hook" to get on this show now!
The father/gay daughter team The Miss NY/Miss CA team The 3-legged Iron Man team The recovering addict male model team The gay cartoon character team The over-achieving Asian brother team Southern Hotness! Frankly, I liked the Hippies from last time. |
No we would definitely do some ingame video. But they also require actual video of us interacting.
|
I am just pleased that they seem to be going with an earlier time slot. Nickolas loves watching this with me, but 9-10 is pushing his bedtime too much. I never understood why it was on so late, but yet Survivor and Big Brother could both be on at 8.
|
Very pleased, and eagerly waiting to see this edition.
And, I'm happy that the teams are the greatest mix I've seen yet. I'm actually hoping for an International Amazing Race, where there's a team from a different country...then maybe us Canucks can get in on the action! |
I'm wondering how they're going to manage logistics in future versions with the increased travel restrictions.
In the meantime, I'll have to tape the episodes, thanks to football's move to Sunday. |
I know this is short notice, but...
If any SoCal locals are interested, I'm inviting you all over for a Amazing Race viewing party Sunday night. PM me and I'll send you directions. |
Whoo-hoo! I love this show! I never look at the team info until it airs - I hate spoilers.
I always have a team I love (Go! Go! Go!), one I hate (eliminate them NOW!) and one I love to hate (keep 'em for competition but don't let 'em win). When it gets later into the season and it feels like we "know" the teams, I am literally on the edge of my seat in suspense over the arrivals at the mat and even sometimes tear-up when teams are eliminated. The pride and accomplishment for some of the people is amazing. I can't wait for the new season to begin. This is, hands down, the best reality show! (I even got NM watching last season and he hates reality TV). |
Ok. No interest in a TAR10 party then... :(

Same for me. I'd be over in a heartbeat to cheer and boohiss, but I'm a bit too far north.
|
I'm too far east.
|
Um...I posted that this began at 8:30 earlier in this thread.
My Yahoo page says 8:00. My television is showing 60 Minutes. This might have something to do with football. Grrrr. Edited to Add: I thought the clock on my computer was fast, but it's not. I resume my previous grumbling about football. I want to watch the Amazing Race, not an interview with Howard Stern! |
Episode #1 Review...
The race is off to a good start, I enjoyed this episode much more than the survivor season opener. I'll put my comments in a spoiler tag for all your west coast folks who may not have seen this yet, oh except for this one. What a BITCH! I'll be looking forward to your downfall. Spoiler:
|
This season certainly has gotten off to an awesome start.
Spoiler:
I have my favourite teams right now, and happily, a lot of them ended up in the top five. And, that's all I'm going to say until you all have seen it. (BTW, Moonliner...I am 100% in agreement with your comments...especially your last line!) |
I was bummed to see the Muslims go. It would have been interesting to see how they handled the race and how people they met reacted to them.
I don't have any favorites at this point, although I do admire Sarah. I could do without Kentuckians or single moms. The moms seem to spend a lot of their time bitching about other teams (or at least that's what we were shown). |
Yes, but if you close your eyes the chick from Kentucky sounds just like Dolly Parton.
|
Well, now that the show is over and done with, here are my thoughts.
Balil and Sa'eed got a raw deal in being eliminated so early, and I was sad to see Vipul and Arti get eliminated too. But, hey, it's a race of surprises. Like we've seen in Big Brother and Survivor, they might bring a team back from elimination. I hope they don't, and I'm not even sure how they would even do it, but you never know. I've got a list of tentative favourites, including Tyler/James, Duke/Lauren, Sarah/Peter (who came in first, second and third in the first leg, BTW). And while I never thought I would say this in a million years considering that in past seasons I wanted these types of teams to get eliminated first...Dustin and Kandice are not bad people. They may have gotten lost on the way to the roadblock, but they never really gave up. Erwin and Godwin could have the potential to be a comic relief team too...but I want to know what they were thinking bringing water pistols to an AIRPORT. Sure, they were water guns, but still... Right now, Rob/Kimberly and Lyn/Karlyn are teams I'd like to see meet an early exit. I'm getting a "Colin/Christy" vibe from Rob and Kimberly, and as for Lyn/Karlyn, there was NO NEED for them to make those comments about Sarah. |

I don't agree that Sarah is taking advantage, at least in what we've seen so far. I can see how she would need time to preboard. It's hard enough to get on a plane and maneuver with two good legs, much less with an artificial one.
I thought the emergency was the hydraulic fluid leaking from her leg. That's going to be tough to fix since I doubt they'll be able to just top off at any local gas station... I think the single moms just like to complain. |

But, Lyn and Karlyn aren't winning sympathy with me by being catty and rude like that. I'm not seeing Sarah do that sort of thing...at least not yet. |
On the other hand, the two Cheers say outright that they plan to use their hotness to their best advantage (ok, not their exact words...). Is that really any different than Sarah using her physique to her best advantage? In this case I say yes. It is different.

Oh, I forgot to mention earlier that we were highly amused by their adventures in Seattle traffic. And we mocked them because NO ONE says "the" I5 up here. Tourists! And it was even a nicely overcast day. Two thumbs up!

When they introduced the teams at the beginning of the episode, I turned to Heather and said, "It's interesting that there are 2 teams that openly practice non-Judeo-Christian religions. It'll make for an interesting show." Guess not.
