new member of the mousepod family...

Sorry I haven't been contributing as much as usual...

Here's why:

Not only have did Heather and I go on a 12-day trip to WDW with 13 members of our families (with the added bonus of meeting flippyshark and MatterhornFan), but we've been arranging the fostering/adoption of a cool dog named Jack.

When we dropped off Bob and Inca (our two chihuahuas) with the dog sitter, we met a 6-year-old dog that she rescued from "death row" at SF Animal Care & Control. His owner had given him up after he'd lost all the fur from the neck down - she apparently couldn't afford a vet. Animal Care & Control decided that he wasn't adoptable and put him on the euthanization list. Jean Kind, the dog sitter, took him out and had him checked at the vet. It appears that the only problem that Jack has is hypothyroidism, which is completely treatable with inexpensive medicine. Jean asked if I wouldn't mind taking a couple of pictures to put on the adoption website. This is one of the pictures:

Long story short, we got back from our trip on Monday, went to work on Tuesday and Wednesday, and today:

Awwwww! Cute puppy! Can you believe he was considered unadoptable, and for such an easily treated condition? Congrats, you two (or five, should I say?) rock indeed.:snap:

I'm so glad you added this little guy to your family!

Ghoulish Delight 09-08-2006 08:13 AM

Well, based on the photo I guess I don't have to ask what Bob and Inca's opinion of the new roomie is!

Welcome back, geezer!

innerSpaceman 09-08-2006 08:51 AM

That's funny - - Ghoulish Delight has a similar condition himself.

Only, he's all hair from the neck down.

What a wonderful addition to the family. You guys are the greatest for taking the little guy in! Now he'll have the family he deserves!
