Anyone here know Bree?
Has anyone been following the videos of lonelygirl15?
|
As a matter of fact, no.

She's just been revealed as a hoax—not, as expected, a clever viral feature designed by big business. Apparently, a group of independent filmmakers are responsible for her video blogs. There’s an interesting reaction within a blog here.

Wikipedia still says it was a hoax, revealed on September 6th.

Not when I load it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonelygirl15 It was there earlier today, but it's gone now. |

But anyway, the content from the "Revelation of Fakeness" section is still there, it's just been merged into the "Speculation" section Quote:

Myspace is the worst thing to hit the internet since goatse.cx (please don't go there)
|
There was (is) a story on her in today's LA Times

Anything that encourages embedded music in web pages is a blight on this universe.

If there was no myspace, where would all those special Internet users be posting and hanging out? Present company excepted of course Gn2Dlnd. Your myspace space is rock'n... :D |

Oh, the horrible times we live in that idiots swarm us year round. Used to be that you could tell when summer ended and college started because of the onrush of newbie idiots.
I've always assumed lonelygirl15 was a fake of some sort. But not because I've ever watched one of her videos (I haven't) but because pretty much everybody I know who has discussed it (mostly on Metafilter) believed it to be a fake of some sort. |
Tangentially...
Facebook (a My Space-esque site that I guess is more popular on the east coast) recently announced upcoming feature changes that people seemed to be pissed about (the speicific don't matter, or make sense). What amuses me is tht 600,000 people have joined a "protest group"...on Facebook. Yeah, way to stick it to them by continuing to use their service, give them hits, and load their advertisements. |
I don't get it, I watched the linked video and she never took off her clothes - if it's fake she could at least get naked.
|
I think I'm the only person left who doesn't really care about other people's mundane details. I've been linked to various "funny" and/or "interesting" video blogs and I really don't see the attraction, especially if it's someone I don't personally know. I never really got into livejournals either.
|
I love blogs - of people I know, or who write well, or are doing anything interesting, or posting naked pictures - otherwise forget it.

I can honestly say that I have never read any person's Live Journal/Blog/whatever. |
Hey, aren't blogs just personal message boards without all the bantering back and forth? ;) Unless you have mental issues and argue with yourself. hmmmmm...
Here's mine! (Sorry no naked pictures!! lol ) http://www.myspace.com/40909299 |

Lately I've been reading Wide Lawns and Narrow Minds. It's pretty amusing.

If we're talking about blogs that are commentary or comedy as oppposed to life stories, it's a whole 'nother thang. I check up on thesneeze.com every now and then because it can be pretty funny, and you don't need to know the past postings. Plus, even if you do dive into the archive (which I have) the posts are brief and easy to read and leave. BTW, I don't wish to offend anyone here who blogs - I used to read LJs but found I couldn't keep up with all my far-flung friends and fell into the same pitfalls - "who were they dating again?" I also know people who post all kinds of things there that I feel are way too personal, things I feel guilty for reading even though they posted publicly. I tried LJing myself but found that anything I wanted to put there was too personal for me to click "public". Everything else I post on the LoT. Add in my limited online time and my LJ presence has shrunk to nothing. |
LoT is a form a blogging and I don't find it mundane at all.

In the end it's pretty simple. I (obviously) really enjoy posting on a public message board. Blogging isn't my thing, I've tried it. At least for now; I can't promise I won't start blogging in 20 years or so. Each to his own :) |

I'm somewhat in between. If someone posts to their LJ something like, "I went grocery shopping today and bought blah blah blah. Then I went home and did blah and then watched blah..." I couldn't care less. I just scroll past. I find that the majority of my LJ's friends posts are meaningful updates or amusing/sad/unique happenings that I quite enjoy reading about. I rarely post to LJ because I rarely have anything terribly interesting to post. You can make posts friends only though. I quite miss reading yours CP. :) |
