Sat, Sept. 30 - Last "Perfect" Fireworks?

According to the not-often-wrong Al Lutz in his recent update, Sleeping Beauty Castle is going under a tarp on Monday, October 2 to remove the bling ... that bling being, by that time, the last of the 50th decorations.

What this means is that, for all intents and purposes, the Saturday night showing on September 30th of "Remember, Dreams Comes True," Disneyland's Fireworks Spectacular (for once, not hyperbole) will be the last "perfect" show - - visible from the Hub with the Castle playing a huge part of the festivities via projections, special lighting, and even its own pyrotechnics. Not to mention serving as the focal point for the fireworks and other effects going on all around it ... and, of course, being our culture's best-ever fireworks foreground thanks to the years of Wonderful World of Color and Wonderful World of Disney so beautifully saluted by this very fireworks show with its Tinkerbell transcendence!

So.... I'm thinking there should be a meet for the last perfect fireworks from the Perfect Spot ... the final treat for our eyes and ears of the single best fireworks show ever put on by Disney ... and perhaps ever put on by anyone, anywhere.

This likely won't be the final announced day of Remember, but once word gets out that the Castle will be out of commission for the rest of Remember's run, I have a feeling that demand for the prime seats will be similar to that on May 5 and July 17 of 2005. Meaning ... far longer than usual camp-out fun (or tedium) for this singular occassion.

The tarp is set to come off by Thanksgiving ... and though there are rumours floating around that Remember will continue for Christmastime or, even more outlandishly, be revived in 2007(!), I find such speculations to be unrealistic. But even if true, is Remember viewed from the Perfect Spot with a Bling-less Castle truly perfect any longer?

So, coming up fast, and far sooner than we'd thought - - Saturday, September 30, 2006 - the Last Perfect Fireworks of the Perfect Fireworks Show.

Gemini Cricket 09-13-2006 07:04 PM

The fireworks were great the night we saw them. They seemed even better after the constant warnings of possibly cancelling the show...

Cadaverous Pallor 09-13-2006 07:50 PM

Ok, this is the weekend that we're supposed to work on the condo. So far we've got a parent visiting and a retirement dinner to attend. Hmm.

€uroMeinke 09-13-2006 08:46 PM

Damn, you know with that send up you've just jinxed us with high winds that day - so when's the penultimate perfect show?

innerSpaceman 09-13-2006 08:59 PM

Yeah, I've often pondered the cruel irony that the last show would be wind-cancelled - - like so many of its forebears.

But I've decided to leave it to fate. What if there were high winds on May Fifth? What if gusts were blowing on the 50th birthday? I think they'd do the last Remember show in a hurricane.

Problem is, of course, I don't know that this will be the last announced show ... just the last perfect show. That'll count with the fire marshals, right??

BarTopDancer 09-13-2006 09:27 PM

I *should* be there. I want to say I have something going on, but I can't remember what it is, so I shall commit to this.

Pretty fire in the sky goes BOOM

RStar 09-13-2006 09:34 PM

Sorry, I can't be there. I'm throughing a big Luau. I'm hosying the swank Tiki bar with concoctions of my own design. Like the "Red Tiki Lizard" and "Mi Tiki Liki". I'll be busy.....

       :tiki: :tiki: :tiki: :tiki: :tiki: :tiki:

Moonliner 09-13-2006 09:47 PM

Perfect?

Sigh. :(

Snowflake 09-14-2006 08:12 AM

I can be there, JetBlue has a nice cheap fare and I have a new AP to inaugurate. I'm consulting with Hotel Swank to see if there is a vacancy for one night. ;)

Seeing Remember in February was truly, one of the highlights of the trip for me.

Gemini Cricket 09-14-2006 08:32 AM

I'm thinking they can't do the show with tarps all over the castle. Indy fire and burn-y firework pinwheels igniting said tarps come to mind...

katiesue 09-14-2006 08:34 AM

I need to try and make this.

I've only seen Remember twice

Sub la Goon 09-14-2006 07:01 PM

I am actually going to be there that day doing the Gumball Rally with the Mice Chat folks.

I don't know if that other group is a verboten subject, but there it is.

innerSpaceman 09-14-2006 07:03 PM

No, but what's verboten (not really, but I personally discourage this) is clueing in the MiceChat folks ... let them figure this out on their own. Tons of them will be in the Park that day .... and the less competition for prime fireworks spots, the better.

Sub la Goon 09-14-2006 07:14 PM

If my guess is correct, the MC'ers will be too busy to try to see the fireworks. I know I plan to be. But if you are there, I will would be happy to say Hello!

innerSpaceman 09-14-2006 07:45 PM

Is the Gumball Rally the nighttime thingie?

Sub la Goon 09-14-2006 09:39 PM

All day (almost). From opening until 10PM. And then ice cream.

Not Afraid 09-14-2006 09:42 PM

I'm not sure how many people who post in both boards are also doing the GR. I know Chris and I aren't. We do MA and that's all. But, if people are going to be stuck in the Festival Arena during Remember, then that makes the ability to get a good spot go up. YAY!

Sub la Goon 09-14-2006 09:46 PM

And I, for one, will probably be in coma well before the pyrotechnics begin.

wendybeth 09-14-2006 11:27 PM

I'm jealous to not be there, but feeling very fortunate to have seen those fireworks during two separate vacations within the b-day 'year'. I'll never forget the first time I saw them- what an incredible show, and with such great people around me as well. I felt like a lucky girl then, and still do.

keith - SuPeR K! 09-15-2006 01:21 AM

i may be able to swing this one :) i hope i can be there!

innerSpaceman 09-18-2006 07:52 AM

Could the esteemed Al Lutz be wrong????

zapppop has it on good authority that the Castle will not be repainted, is not going under tarps, and will have temp. scaffolding to remove the bling in a mere matter of days.

Meaning, if zapppop has it straighter than Al, the Castle will be back for fireworks before October is out. True, it would be a blingless and technically non-50th Castle .... but the projections and fire effects and spin-thingies could all proceed as required for perfection.

It's a no-brainer for me ... as it just so happens I'm camping out for out-of-towners' fireworks Pefect Spot pleasure on the 30th in any event. But I just wanted to warn that Al's inside scoop that it would be the last Perfect Fireworks night may be (gasp) incorrect.

As usual, everything is subject to change without notice, and all speculation may prove worthless.

keith - SuPeR K! 09-20-2006 09:51 PM

lol i still want to go. we'll see how things work out :)

BarTopDancer 09-20-2006 10:31 PM

I'll still be there.

Not Afraid 09-20-2006 11:18 PM

I got someone to cover my insulin duties on that night, so I should be able to be there.

Morrigoon 09-21-2006 08:25 AM

It's a great idea... but I'll be working the gumball rally. Still... good idea though!

innerSpaceman 09-21-2006 08:32 AM

Fortunately for the gumball rallyers, Al may be wrong. Wouldn't that be ironic though?

lindyhop 09-24-2006 01:46 PM

I'll planning to be at the Park Saturday night to dance (Stompy Jones at Carnation Plaza!). "The Spot" for fireworks (last "perfect" or not) on the same evening would be the icing on the cake.
:)

innerSpaceman 09-28-2006 08:28 PM

Bumpity bump bump.

Ooooh, last perfect fireworks.

(maybe)

Kevy Baby 09-28-2006 09:23 PM

Susan and I will be there. After we go to a child's birthday party. Which comes after we go to see my Mom's ass*

*She is showing her miniature mule at the LA County Fair

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 09-28-2006 09:32 PM

I will be lurking about. I'm sure I'll run into someone...

Leigh-Ann 09-28-2006 10:24 PM

we are going to be there ... WOOT !!!!!!

keith - SuPeR K! 09-28-2006 11:25 PM

roger. that is a go!

katiesue 09-29-2006 08:34 AM

I'll be there.

innerSpaceman 09-29-2006 11:33 PM

Somebody better bring another blanket.

RStar 09-30-2006 11:47 PM

Well, the fireworks didn't get cancelled at least. Wish I could have been there, I hope you all had a good time! Our Luau was great, though!

Gemini Cricket 10-01-2006 04:49 AM

Does waking up now, at 11am, give you any indication of how much fun we had yesterday?

It should.

Not Afraid 10-01-2006 11:26 AM

Yes, Good morning.

Kevy Baby 10-01-2006 12:02 PM

I may be up, but I am not awake.

I do remember a LoT of people visiting the Tomorrowland Terrace right after Believe (by way of a 101 Space) and being very excited.

And because Space was 101, my niece wanted to ride "a rollercoater," so we went on on BTMRR. Our second time through IT went 101 as we were on the second lift and had to be walked off.

Not Afraid 10-01-2006 12:12 PM

So YOU broke the ride?

We tried to get on BTMRR after we rode HMH and it was 101. The chanting of 101 101 was loud last night.

Kevy Baby 10-01-2006 12:23 PM

As we were walking off the ride, it was timed such that we passed a security guard talking to a couple of people. I didn't catch the whole conversation, but I presume it was with parents or friends of the offenders. He was explaining how someone had stood up on the ride (causing an e-stop) and that they were detaining them for the moment.

Stupid people!

While we were walked through some backstage areas, there really wasn't much of anything photo worthy. I did take a couple of pictures, but they really aren't that interesting.

Gemini Cricket 10-02-2006 11:02 AM

Boo! No fireworks report or nothing...
:D

blueerica 10-02-2006 11:17 AM

I hope Super K posts pictures! I had too much fun with you guys!

Not Afraid 10-02-2006 12:33 PM

Fun time.
MANY Oyster shooters
Perfect but different spot
35 people on 4 blankets
Very entertaining CM
Lots of rides going 101.
SuperK's pics of clevage, fat ass and bras showing through shirt.
No swans.
Sumersaults on the compass.
Steve in a stroller - again.
Holding hands in the Haunter Mansion
Being in the PERFECT spot to hear the spooky sounds of F!
New term: Dirty Sebastian.
Forgetting how to use the phone.
Dirty Diaper smell.

That's a lot considering I was only there a few hours.

As for the Dirty Sebastian, it's when you get the sea snot from the Oyster Shooters all over your upper lip.

Wait, I knew Gemini Cricket was moving, but now you're telling me JK Rowling has hijacked his screen name? And you've said it before? How long has this been going on?

Not Afraid 10-03-2006 08:59 AM

Sea Snot

katiesue 10-03-2006 09:43 AM
