Help With A Wedding Dress.....

I need ideas.

Where else would I go but to the most swanky crowd in town? Any town!

My Chickie is planning on being married. Unlike the women of my mothers age, her wish is not to be married 'all in white' but rather...'all in black'.

So.........

Help!!!

I think between the LoT of you, you'll show me some great sites....

Thank you!

BarTopDancer 09-19-2006 09:29 PM

WOOHOO!!!! Congratulations to you and your Chickie!!

Does she want a traditional grown in black or a unconventional gown?

MouseWife 09-19-2006 09:36 PM

Thank you very much!

Hmm. I think she is leaning quite towards the unconventional. So I am lost at where to begin!!

BarTopDancer 09-19-2006 09:41 PM

Dress?

ElectricChair has some two peice stuff.

Torrid has some stuff as does Hot Topic, though I lothe myself for mentioning Electric Char, Torrid and HT in the same post.

Ebay can be good too

CoasterMatt 09-19-2006 09:49 PM

I'm only good at removing wedding dresses.

Kevy Baby 09-19-2006 09:51 PM

Congrats to Chickie!!!

That eBay dress is WAY wicked cool!

(My wife insists that I am becoming a mo.)

MouseWife 09-19-2006 09:54 PM

Oh, my gosh, I LOVE that E-Bay dress!!!! I am going to send her the link. I am trying to just 'suggest' and not push...But I LOVE that!!!

CoasterMatt~Sorry, but I think that position has been filled....

Kevy Baby~Okay, I bite, What's a mo?

MouseWife 09-19-2006 09:56 PM

And that black long velvet one reminds me of Morticia....Love that one, too!

Such a cool designer she is, this Cherlone....:snap: :snap:

CoasterMatt 09-19-2006 10:01 PM

So Kevy, do you wanna tell MouseWife what a 'mo' is?

Or should I?

MouseWife 09-19-2006 10:02 PM

Well, coming from CoasterMatt with that Homer-head...all I think of is 'Moe' from the Simpsons....

Affectionate shorthand for hoMOsexual

MouseWife 09-19-2006 10:14 PM

Ooooohhhhhhh....DUH!

I thought it had to do with that 'emo' schtuff I've heard so little about...

Thanks for clearing that up...

€uroMeinke 09-19-2006 11:32 PM

Someone needs to PM Lizzibith - I recall a bride draped in black velvet...

MouseWife 09-20-2006 07:32 AM

Thanks, That Guy!

I do have a bit of time. She plans to be married the beginning of March.

I don't know how long it takes to have a dress made, though, if that ends up being the case?

I have to say, a mothers heart had to be so happy when I said 'You could be married at Disneyland' and she wistfully said 'We thought of that....' {That's my girl!!!!}.

Of course, not a real possibility.

I am so grateful to all of you for your advice and links. :snap: :snap:
I am going to be out of town for a couple of weeks {and no laptop:( } so if I don't respond that is why....}

Sure it is! It's called a gurella wedding and all you do is have a bunch of friends stand around in front of the castle pretending to be lost, looking at maps and "chatting".

Not that I was planning on that or anything.

Oh, you KNOW such things have gone through my mind.....

I think they would prefer something in the Haunted Mansion....the grave yard...Or on the steps. LOL I dunno.

But believe me, I have had ideas.....;)

Not Afraid 09-20-2006 08:58 AM

Check out Jennie Nitro's Bone Church line.

I have one of her dresses and they are FABULOUS.

3 people fit in a Doombuggy...

MouseWife 09-20-2006 11:27 AM

Ooo, Jennie Nitro has some awesome designs!!!

You guys are awesome with your suggetions!!! Pulling ideas right out of the depths of my brain!!!

LOL

I was talking to my daughter and telling her how we could do it...get a bunch of people, hold up the elevator {it would be a Friday, early, off season...} {bribing a CM?} have a quick, civil ceremony right there in the elevator and then ride the ride.

She also liked the idea of doing the same thing...but on the Tower of Terror!!!

So...are there CM's that might go for this? That would be one freakin' awesome wedding picture, wouldn't it? On the ToT?

The attire might give us away and the Hubsters' new suit just might not work...

But we'll see...If she really wants to do this, she has time to work things out..she has an AP.....

I do love scheming....:snap: :snap: {and I think you do too, BTD!!}

Not Afraid 09-20-2006 12:13 PM

Here's a few more links from my dusty bookshelf:

Heavy Red

Ipso Facto (near DL)

What size is your chickie? Jennie Nitro on Ebay. Size M

MouseWife 09-20-2006 12:35 PM

I love that one! I think she does want a 'period' dress, not that I know exactly what that is but that Jennie Nitro one looks like what comes to my mind. I love it!

I am not sure, I think she could fit a small but I am not sure.

That dress is a M but it could be altered. I wonder what it will go for????

Wow, even a bathing suit? That is awesome. Cool links...Thank you!!

BarTopDancer 09-20-2006 12:43 PM

The thing about a gurella wedding is that it has to be done under the radar. Supposedly security will stop any wedding before it starts, but will not interrupt it once it stops. That's just a rumor though, I have no idea whether or not it's true.

MouseWife 09-20-2006 12:50 PM

Ah....so, maybe some of those awesome dresses would be out of line because they would draw too much attention?

The other choice we are looking in to is for her to be married where we were. In the park. I like that, too. Not quite as exciting as the ToT or Haunted Mansion.

But, the dresses would work.....

Her boyfriend is cracking up as all we talk about are plans: the dress, the place, where to go after {Disneyland is part of that, of course}, who we are inviting, will it be a tiny affair or will we go a tad bit larger????

ARGH!!

Well, thank God she isn't traditional. I would be under pressure to proved his huge wedding. I have looked into Vegas...hmmm, maybe Tahoe....

{oh, and I can only suggest...this is 'her day'....}

Not on Bats Day ;)

Is she 21 yet?

My friend got married in Vegas. I think the resort was called Emerald Isle. It was beautiful.

CoasterMatt 09-20-2006 01:12 PM

Our wedding in Vegas ROCKED...

It was nice to have everything planned out for us (for the most part), and they really did a great job making sure that we enjoyed it, our guests enjoyed it, and even the 1000+ uninvited guests on the Strip whooping and hollering enjoyed it :)

MouseWife 09-20-2006 02:07 PM

I know, Bats Day would have been PERFECT!!! Darn it.

She is 21 actually. :D

I'll look up that place, Emerald Isle?

We have put Vegas on our list {ahem, I mean they have put it on their list}. Only reason we wouldn't do it is if the older grandparents wanted to attend, they couldn't.

CoasterMatt, you freaked me out for a second when I saw '1000+ guests' but then I got it....I thought 'Who the heck is this guy???'

BarTopDancer 09-20-2006 05:57 PM

Emerald something... it's a resort off the strip. I could identify it in photos, I can try to find out what it's really called.

You know, I spoke with her and she said Vegas {or any distance} is out because of the grandparents....

Hmm...I wonder what they'll think of the wedding attire of the bride and groom? 'Cause you know he is dressing similar....

Thank you, though.

Is it a resort? I have yet to go to Vegas. One day I am just going to GO!!

Not true. When security came by to check out what was going on when Frodo Potter proposed to Disneyphile at DL, someone asked about that. They said they would stop it in mid-ceremony.
