Now this is just rumor, can't find anything for sure on the internet, but I have it on good authority that a Sephora is being built (for?) near me. Exactly 7.3 miles away (but who's counting). It's supposed to be going up inside Washington Square Mall, in the 'burbs, but in the 'burbs closest to my side of town, so I'm not complaining!!!

(Okay, I'll complain a little......why not downtown? Seriously??? Across from Saks? It would be perfect, and only 2 miles away from me and close to all I hold near and dear, like the 47 Starbucks and my favorite martini bar and the best sushi place? Seriously? The 'burbs? WTF!?!?! I mean, I could go there, get a good smoky eye going, then go out for a drinky!! But I can't drive out to BFE for a smoky eye, then back downtown for a drinky....what would be the point?)

I'm seriously heading over there today, supposedly to spend a gift card at Nordstrom, but um, really, I'm scouting out the Sephora location....looking for the black and white awning, peeking in windows, asking construction workers if they know when it will open, or heartbreak of heartbreaks, finding out it's not opening at all, and I've been made a fool.

Now if someone will only build a Starbucks in my kitchen (complete with my own hot, stubbled barista with those dreamy brown eyes!), buy me a hover-craft, and let spiral perms truly come back into style, I'll be in heaven!!

They are building a strip mall down at the end of our street. I hear it isn't supposed to be just .99 cent stores and taco stands. {although, admittedly, they do serve their purpose} I hear we are getting, now don't pout with jealousy, a Staples!!!

There are "luxury" apartments now being leased with a view of the Fry's Electronics store in Woodland Hills.

That sounds like it also comes with a view of heavy traffic leading into the Fry's parking lot...

Okay.....so the Sephora-to-be is currently a big hole in the ground next to Nordstrom. :rolleyes: I'm thinking it'll be about six months before it's got an awning up.

How funny! We were just over there a week ago to see our friend in the diamond business ;) to pick out Steph's wedding ring and stopped by the Square to window shop (Mac store. Wheeee!!!!) and I looked at the big pit with the "30 new stores!!!" sign and thought, "I bet they're gonna build one of those Sephora stores. Yep! I see the Kool-aid lines being put in right over there." :D

I'm sure that, being in Washington Square, they'll rake in sales and throw one into the rotunda at Pioneer after a year or so.

Ya think you could handle two Sephoras within driving distance?

Claire~ if it makes you feel any better, I shop the online store. Nothing beats delivery to the door! A box full of surprises is way more like Christmas! :) See? It's a good thing! ( And I have a Sephora right down the street from me in the Fashion Square Shopping Center! :eek: )

Tonight, to make myself feel better (in your honor) I bought myself a pretty purple Dooney & Burke "It Bag" purse ( to match my D&B pink hearts wallet! :) )
