Are y'all okay? (East Coaster concerned about fires)

I don't know if any of you live close to the blaze, but I couldn't help but worry. I'm trying to send cool, rainy mojo your way to fight the Santa Ana winds.

lashbear 10-27-2006 06:24 AM

I just heard about the fires on the news tonight... likewise on the well wishes for all.

Jughead P. Jones 10-27-2006 07:23 AM

I've been watching some of the footage of those fires...what a frightening situation.

I just wish I could have sent all the rain we had here this week over there...the West Coasters need it more than we do right now.

Moonliner 10-27-2006 07:33 AM

I wonder if they'll update the California soaring orange grove scent to a smoke smell.

CoasterMatt 10-27-2006 07:48 AM

no rain until AFTER Halloween, thank you!

LSPoorEeyorick 10-27-2006 07:50 AM

Please, please, do NOT do a rain dance for us quite yet! NeverGrowUp is taking our engagement photos at Union Station tomorrow, and we've already been called once on account of rain.

Cadaverous Pallor 10-27-2006 07:58 AM

Where's the fire?

Ghoulish Delight 10-27-2006 08:07 AM

Out near Cabazon, about 1.5 hours east of LA, close to Palm Springs (and home of the dinosaurs from Pee Wee's). As far as I know, no LoTters live out that way.

DreadPirateRoberts 10-27-2006 10:35 AM

It makes me sick to my stomach to think that we lost 3 good firefighters as the result of arson. :(

Ugh, my post above makes me sound so shallow; I didn't realize the fires were that bad.

Cadaverous Pallor 10-27-2006 11:32 AM

Got to work in east Orange and there's a strong smoke smell in the air. Those winds sure do carry, as the fire is rather far from here. A patron said he had ash on his porch today.

Motorboat Cruiser 10-27-2006 12:02 PM

We've been smelling the smoke for the last couple of days. I'm surprised as well at how far it has carried. I would have thought the fire was much closer than it actually is.

The 5th was reported with burns over 95% of his body, so may be adding to that total. :(

From the video they were showing last night, one sight you never really want to see is a fire truck that has been consumed by fire.

my car was covered in ash yesterday when I left work and the sunset was bright orange all the way down here in san diego. I can still smell the smoke.

it just boggles my mind that its arson. anyone know if that qualifies as special circumstances?

katiesue 10-27-2006 01:19 PM

The news reports are saying if they find the arsonist they'd be tried for murder.

The orange sunset was a little eerie last night.

Ditto.

NirvanaMan 10-27-2006 02:34 PM

Tastes like burning.

BarTopDancer 10-27-2006 10:28 PM

Sending "the data center smells like smoke" via text message does not go over well with a co-worker in another state.

Our data center smells like wild-fire. So does all of RSM.
