True Life Adventures and Roy Disney at the Egyptian - Dec. 7th!
THE AMERICAN CINEMATHEQUE AND DISNEY HOME VIDEO PRESENT
Thursday, December 7 - 7:30 PM DVD Release Celebration TRUE-LIFE ADVENTURES, 1948-1960, Walt Disney, approx. 90 min. The TRUE-LIFE ADVENTURES -- a series of 13 groundbreaking film shorts and short features released between 1948 - 1960 that captured the wonder of animals and nature and won eight Academy Awards® -- epitomize the magic of Walt Disney. In classics such as “Seal Island,” “The Living Desert,” “The Vanishing Prairie” and “White Wilderness,” Walt blended his unique sense of innovation with creativity and technology to put together films that brought fascinating insights into the world of wild animals as well as attention to the importance of conserving our outdoor heritage. The acclaimed series makes its long-awaited DVD debut from Walt Disney Home Entertainment on December 5. This program will consist of highlights from some of the most famous and popular entries. “Some of my first and fondest production experiences were on these wonderful films, so they’re very close to my heart…the movies remain as relevant and entertaining today, a whole new generation will be able to discover them… Like the specialists at Disney’s Animal Kingdom who are carrying on that tradition, Walt cared deeply about wildlife and its conservation. And, equally important, he made films that were solid entertainment.”- Roy Disney. Discussion following the screening with Roy Disney and a panel of some of the filmmakers (TBA). EGYPTIAN THEATRE. 6712 HOLLYWOOD BLVD. Very cool program! I have very fond memories of the True Life Adventure series.
|
I am so at this!
I have a whole fantasy about splitting DCA into two theme parks, one of them the Hollywood Backlot, and the other, using Condor Flats and the Grizzly Peak area as a jumping off point, being themed around the True Life Adventures. It'll never happen. |
Wow, this would be fantastic to see!
|
Lisa, I can't find any information listed on either of those sites. It may be too soon. I even tried the advanced search on Fandango, and it told me there were no theaters in the Hollywood, CA area  ......
Imagine that! So where'd you get the press release from? |
One if my good friends in a programmer at the Egyptian and worked with Disney to put this program together. The PR came from him. It's legit. I've know about it for a while.
They don't seem to have their December calendar up on the website yet. American Cinematheque's web site. |
That's what I figured.
But, my dear, I never doubted that is was legit, I just wanted to see more info. I'll just wait for more. Thanks for the heads up! ~Bob |

Thanks, DPR. I got a phone call last night saying the info was there. So, who
s going? Here's a link to buy tickets. |
GODDAMNFU<K! I have tickets to UCLA on that night.
Let me know who is planning on going, because I may have some special tickets. |
I've never been to the Egyptian. (Yeah, I know.)
Is it easily accessible from the Red Line? I'd take the Blue from Long Beach after work and transfer.... would that work? |
