Name the Monkey!!!

I heard on KCRW today that scientists have "discovered" a new species of primate in South America. Of course, the locals have known it forever, but it's new to us. Instead of naming it after the region or the noise it makes or its appearance, they are auctioning off the rights to, you guessed it, Name the Monkey.

This is the site that they said would be handling the auction. All proceeds will go to research and conservation efforts. I can't find a damn thing online about it because it's not happening yet. But I just had to post and give NirvanaMan the heads up. Name the Monkey!!!

Finally found a link.

You can listen to the story, or listen to the weird-ass noise this thing makes. Cool looking monkeys, aren't they?

Mousey Girl 02-09-2005 11:29 AM

I have known a few guys who make that same noise.

Not Afraid 02-09-2005 11:42 AM

OMG! They sound like they've been drinking and someone farted.

Mousey Girl 02-09-2005 05:39 PM

I just had 3 monkeys in my Chinese Elm...too bad they already have names...

Well, that's nice to know at least. :)

It just seemed appropriate considering the resemblance.
