The song in my head...
Anyone for Tennis (Savage Seven Theme) - Cream
Quote:
What's the song in your head? |
Cole Porter - You Do Something to Me
|
AMERICAN IDIOT - Green Day. It's been stuck there for 2 days!

That 'Tripletts of Belleville' song. Total earworm!
|
"I wanna get next to you"
*HA! GC the stalking continues |
Honey - Moby
|
Thanks to the stupid JC Penneys commercial.....
99 Red Balloons  |
I have had the damn hamster dance song stuck in my head for days now. I have no idea where it came from. I'm trying to replace it but nothing is sticking. I can feel the last grasp of sanity slipping away.
|
I'm in a retro mood....
Walk on By ~ Dionne Warwick "I just can't get over losing you And so if I seem broken and blue Walk on by, walk on by Foolish pride Is all that I have left So let me hide The tears and the sadness you gave me When you said goodbye Walk on by and walk on by and walk by (don't stop)" Yesterday, after I read the "Broken Heart" thread, I had two songs stuck in my head... Don't Go Breaking My Heart ~ Elton John and KiKi Dee (It took me a few minutes to figure out who sang that) How Can You Mend a Broken Heart? ~ BeeGees |
I've had the Super Mario Brothers theme stuck in my head for some days now. Not the regular version, oh no.... the frickin Boston Pops symphonic version! (Which, incidentally, is awesome)
|
I've had Louis and Ella singing "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" by Irving Berlin stuck in my head for the last three days. Which incidentally coincides with the time I bought their "Best of" album, imagine!
|
"This Guy's In Love With You" ~ Herb Alpert
I've been waiting for some guy to sing this song to me ever since I was a little girl. I'm still waiting....so I'll sing it to myself. :) |
"Every time I close my eyes..................."
Rebellion (Lies) by The Arcade Fire. If this band were to transfigure itself into a man, he would be Victorian, rakish, tender, and naughty. He'd probably have a villains mustache, a red velvet couch, a pet raven he called "Lenore", and I would be sick with love for him, and dying of lust. I'd probably be his maid, and he'd completely ignore me all the time, which would drive me wild and make me strangely happy. |
"Atmosphere", Joy Division. That song is so haunting. I need more Joy Division.
|
"We Both Reached for the Gun" Chicago soundtrack.
I listend to the soundtrack a few times at work yesterday. Not such a great song to start singing in front of the kids. I had to stop myself multiple times. I just love the melody, not necessarily the lyrics. Except for when Renee Zellweger says "Are you kidding?" |
Well, I didn't have anything stuck in my head when I first opened this thread.
No such luck now. walk on by(do do do do)...walk on by... |

I've got a Jackson 5 mix playing in my head....
Kat's cheer squad's competition routine is to a mix of Jackson 5 songs...all pre-molestor days....but still something about little kids dancing to Michael Jackson music disturbs me a little! |
I have a lot of Lou Reed floating around in there, however, I am stuck on Iron & Wine's Naked as We Came...
Actually, I think I have the CD player in my mind set to random. Kind of have a lot of songs in my head today. Earlier it was Elliot Smith. I think all this rain has me kind of moody. |
I've got the theme to Jurassic Park stuck in my head...

Oh I had a little chickie and he wouldn't lay and egg, so I poured hot water up and down his leg. Oh the little chickie cried out and the little chickie begged, and the gosh darned chickie laid a hard boikled egg.
I think the Ice Cream Man was by earlier. |
Hamster Dance is gone. "It Had Better be Tonight" has replaced it. Much swankier.
|
"(I don't stand) a ghost of a chance with you" - Thelonious Monk
Just the melody... None of that word stuff for me tonight... no siree! |
De deum De dum, Pink Elephants on Parade.......
|
This is a dangerous thread. Now I have Pink Elephants duking it out with Dancing Hamsters while Lock Stock and Barrel sing laaa la la lalala and Richard Gere manipulates a Renee Zellweger dummy to the tune of Belleville Rendezvous.
Before I opened this thread, however, it was "Every time We Say Goodbye," mostly because that song figured in a play I saw Friday night. (The play is called Sylvia, a comedy about a married couple and their dog. Sarah Jessica Parker played the dog in the original production. I saw a really excellent cast here in Orlando.) Here's a tune that tends to stay with me - the theme to Casino Royale. |
Well, thanks to the poster above and Sleepyjeff, I've got the theme song to Gilligan's Island going around my tiny little mind.
|
Today, I have randomness coming from a CD mix I made a long time ago. They're all songs about loss, regaining, and figuring things out in general. But also, and should I say mostly, about love. But it's like I have the whole CD in my head.
Most noticeably, I have Pete Yorn's "For Nancy ('Cos it Already Is)" Don't sell your heart and break just anyone I want to run with you through moorland fields Convince yourself that everything is alright 'Cos it already is That song just makes me want to sing the lyrics as loudly as possible just about everytime I hear it. It's like I hurt for the situation he's in. And -- Elliot Smith's "Somebody That I Used to Know" -- Not because I"m feeling any particular way, but because it's just another powerful song that makes me think I'm feeling a particular way. I had tender feelings that you made hard But it's your heart, not mine, that's scarred So when i go home, i'll be happy to go You're just somebody that i used to know A mark of a good song, to me, is one that can completely erase what I'm feeling now, and replace it with the feeling behind the song. |
Too Darn Hot. Although frankly it's freezing.
|
A.C. Newman songs. They're in my head.

Yesterday my husband started singing "unskinny bop" at me. ARG! That only left this morning when OUT OF NOWHERE my brain sings "come on get happy!"
Now I have in my head this nonsense song my husband sings about my cat, Boris. "8 5 10 dogcat, 8 5 10 dogcat, 8 5 10 dogcatboris." It even has hand motions. |

Well, I had the bunny hop in my head (gee, thanks HTH).
Then when I opened this thread, it was Video Killed the Radio Star (I'm not sure where that one came from, but the TV's on in the other room, so I'm guessing that that's being used on some commercial these days?). But now . . . We need its light We need its heat We need its energy Without the sun Without a doubt There'd be no you and me Best live. :D |
UGH!!!
We heard "Livin La Vida Loca" in all of it's glory in a restaurant yesterday. It has been making regular appearances in my brain ever since. Where is Dr. Kevorkian when I need him. This isn't pleasant. |
I'm singing Fiona Apple's "Carrion" to myself. I even put it in my sig.
|
I am now singing Glen Campbell's "Gentle on My Mind" thanks to Pharmacy hold music.

Don't you just love it when you have songs stuck in your head that aren't suitable for sharing with the general public? (Yes, it's even worse than Detachable Penis.) My husband was muttering something about the Revolting Cocks, which means my brain went immediately to a song by Sweaty Nipples, thanks to a mix tape one of my ex boyfriends used to play over and over and over. "It thrills my heart to see you walking toward it." That's about all I can say. Out! Out! Purify my memories!

I sort of have had the Pirates theme stuck in my head for close to a week now, only not exactly. I was at a youth conference last Thursday where they took the Pirates theme and rewrote it to fit the day.   I hate when they do that. I don't remember all the rewritten lyrics, however, so what goes through my head is more like this:

Quand je bois du vin claret, Amis, tout tourne, tourne, tourne, tourne, Aussi desormais je bois Anjou ou Arbois. Chantons et buvons, a ce flacon faisons la guerre, chantons et buvons, mes amis, buvons donc. The alto/tenor/bass lines have slightly different words, and include something about eating a large ham. This song rocks. Here's a slow, kind of clunky midi. It's a 16th century rock song. And then we sang the small world song nearly all the way home. Over and over and over again. But I think Tourdion is winning. |

The song in my head is "Laid" by James
This bed is on fire With passionate love The neighbours complain about the noises above But she only comes when she's on top My therapist said not to see you no more She said you're like a disease without any cure She said I'm so obsessed that I'm becoming a bore, oh no Ah, you think you're so pretty Caught your hand inside the till Slammed your fingers in the door Fought with kitchen knives and skewers Dressed me up in women's clothes Messed around with gender roles Dye my eyes and call me pretty Moved out of the house, so you moved next door I locked you out, you cut a hole in the wall I found you sleeping next to me, I thought I was alone You're driving me crazy, when are you coming home |

Okay, so there's this well-known medieval number often called the Agincourt Carol. Henry V and all that. You can read all about it and hear the "real" versionhere.
What you need to know is that it ALSO scans to the banana boat song. Deo. Deeeeeeo. Deo Gracias Anglia. Deo. Deeeeeeo. Deo Gracias Anglia. Our king went out from Normandy (Deo Gracias Anglia) Full of might and chivalry (Deo Gracias Anglia.) And so forth. |

Music Choice Blues has been very fun today. This morning, I found out that there's a blues song called "Big Ovaries, Baby!" by Gaye Adegbalola. It's got some great lyrics, including...
"I got big ovaries, baby....big enough to speak my mind... I'll fight for my rights, cuz, bitch is my middle name!" |
Listen to Alberta Hunter's My Handy Man Ain't Handy No More from Amtrack Blues:
("...he churns my butter, and he strokes my fiddle...he threads my needle, creams my wheat, heats my heater, and he chops my meat...and do you know?...sometimes, he's up way before dawn, busy cleaning the rough edges off my lawn...") The double entendre is delightful! |
Kings and Queens by Aerosmith - somehow appropriate with all the talk from Not Afraid about the French Revolution...
|
Yeah, they overplayed it, and yeah, it's old already, but every time I hear this song I get it stuck in my head and I'm glad of it. The lyrics are so spot on.
Sometimes I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear. And I cant help but ask myself how much I'll let the fear take the wheel and steer. It's driven me before, it seems to have a vague, haunting mass appeal Lately I'm beginning to find that I should be the one behind the wheel. Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there! With open arms and open eyes, yeah. Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there, I'll be there. So if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive? It's driven me before, it seems to be the way That everyone else get around Lately, I'm beginning to find that when I drive myself, my light is found. Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there! With open arms and open eyes, yeah. Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there, I'll be there. Would you choose water over wine? Hold the wheel and drive. |

This morning I woke up singing
"That's where my money goes To buy my baby clothes I'll buy her anything To keep her in style." And somehow on the way from civpro to property class this evening I suddenly had the guitar solo from "November Rain" in my head. Clearly I am doing pennance for my sins. |

Right now, I have "City of Blinding Lights" by U2, and I honestly thought they'd brought themselves to a point where I could no longer listen to anything new they put out (didn't care for the last two albums, and Vertigo just grates on me) but this song is the same kind of powerful romantic (if not a bit cliche at moments) rock that I love from U2.

The instrumental version of 'That's What Uncle Remus Say'* from the Splash Mountain queue. I'm listening to random DL park tracks on my iPod and that one's sticking with me today.
*Please note that GC's song choice has everything to do with his love of the park and in no way advocates slavery. This post is also not a passive aggressive pointed commentary on Leo's Racism thread. It has more to do with the shuffle function on my iPod than anything else. Thank you and have a nice day. Answer The Phone~ Sugar Ray
I just saw Sugar Ray in concert last night at the House Of Blues. :) :snap: I've been such a huge fan of them forever now. Even of their early-day obscure harder stuff, which rocks! I've been singin' all of their stuff all day long! |
There is a song that has been stuck in my head off and on for over 10 years -- ever since I saw it on Bombshelter Video back in high school. But alas, how would I ever find such an obscure song again?
Thanks to the magic of Google, I am now able to share with you, complete with video (warning!), Satan Lend me a Dollar. |
This morning I cannot for the life of me get the Diff'rent Strokes theme song out of my head.
