The Best Christmas Present Ever

After never ever receiving a gift from my little sister for Christmas, I decided that this year I would tell her that I expect at least a card this year. I mean, she's 24 for crying out loud... make with the gifts already. Ha ha.

Little did I know that big brother would be putting his foot in his mouth.

During a conversation on the phone Sunday night (at the park, no less... right in front of World of Disney) with my dad, he deduced that I may be homesick. So, he and my little sister put their heads together and called me back later that night.

In front of the Frontierland gates (with MC's Fishbulb in tow), I get a call from my sister that she bought me a ticket home for Christmas. I was stunned. Of course, there were caveats. It had to be used tomorrow (Sunday the 17th) and it was one way. My parents said they'd help me with a ticket back.

So, I'm off to Hawai'i tomorrow morning thanks to my little sis. :)

I needed this. I haven't been home this year and haven't spent Christmas with them in 10 years. I'll get to see my grandma, too.

Well, I'm off to pack. I just wanted to share how cool my sister is and how dreams do come true at Disneyland... (I sound like a commercial.) :D So with the taste of my own foot in my mouth, I travel home for the holidays. I hope to be back before 2007.

Signed,
Happy Snappy Cricket

My trip home was wonderful.

I spent some quality time with my family and actually had a good time doing it. My grandma was happy to see me and I her.

I ate way too much and ate food that was probably really bad for me... Oh well...

The weather was ideal and I had great fun on the North Shore watching locals surf waves at Pipeline and watching tourists get pounded... Ha ha. :D

I got some fun presents, too.

There was only one meltdown at the parents' house, but it didn't last long and is mostly forgotten now...

:)

I'll have to tell my friend he chose the wrong holiday. He took his five year old son home to Hawaii for the first time over Thanksgiving. In the build up to the trip he was hyping the giant waves they'd see and the kid was talking about it constantly.

And then the whole week they were there the North Shore has Waikiki surf.

My dad sent me some pictures. The rest are being sent snail mail.

This is me trying to look happy in Laie (North Shore area).

Wayne, Carlyn (big sis), Me, My Dad, Joelyn (lil sis) and My Mom. One big happyesque family...

Me and mom.

KC (my sister's bestest friend), me and Joe.

I need to remember to take the glasses off when someone's taking a shot of me. I'm also resigned to the fact that my hairline's receding... life goes on. Dave Matthews seems to be fine with his receding hairline.
:D

MouseWife 12-30-2006 05:59 PM

Aw, trying to look happy? I wish I had the power to wave a wand over you and you haven't have to try.

You do have a lovely family. Thank you for sharing. :)

You're aren't losing hair - you're just getting more head.

I'm not quite sure how to manipulate that....

I am sure there is someone out there who will quote you right!;)

Fred Mertz says to Ethel: "My hairline isn't receeding." Ethel: "Turn around and let me see".

{you may have to see this one to get it?}
