Happy Longest Night of the Year!

(AKA Winter Solstice)

What will you do with all that extra dark?

I ran 4+ miles on the treadmill...

That's exactly what I did (4.5).

Nothing beyond the usual manipulations.

I'm gonna walk 500 miles...

Make cookie dough, then sleep.

Mmm, wine and jerky. And marshmallows.

Would those happen to be those gourmet fancy shmancy mashmallows that you had the last time I was over. If so... YUM!

Is it just me, or does it feel like the days are getting longer now?

Actually, it has felt like that for the last week and I'm confused as to why. I catch the bus home at the same time every day. It had made it to the point where it was dark by the time I got there.

But as of about a week ago it was still light when I got there. I think the equinox got lazy and just bagged it in early this year.

Actually, no - mini Jet Puffed. Mmmmm just the same.

Actually, through a quirk that happens once in a while, the sostice (i.e., the longest night) is actually tonight, the 22nd, rather than the usual 21st.

So if you missed taking advantage of the longest night to do something dark, or the shortest day ever for last-minute Christmas shopping, you haven't missed the opportunity yet.

Well - in that case, I'll be watching Edward Scissorhands tonight, seems appropriate enough.

I've noticed that in years past and looked it up. What actually happens is that sunrise moves later too, so sunset can get later while still having a shorter day.

Ah, well tonight I'm planning to have some flaming cheese, so that seems suitable.

Hmmm...I dunno what to do. I wanna do something cool and spookily dark.

I'm gonna drink myself blind... just kidding ;)

I did get knocked semi-conscious today by a windblown umbrella - thankfully it wasn't Christo-sized, or I might be an Ex-CoasterMatt
