CoasterMatt 01-06-2007 12:55 AM

I'll be there with Leopard Spots and safety pins on!

Kevy Baby 01-06-2007 12:56 AM

Cadaverous Pallor 01-06-2007 01:10 AM

How could anyone say no??

CoasterMatt 01-06-2007 01:11 AM

Isn't vegemite listed as a hazardous material?

lashbear 01-06-2007 01:13 AM

Not any more, thank goodness !

Dexter 01-06-2007 01:14 AM

I absolutely will be there, I'd love to meet the guy that got me hooked on Tim Tams while I was over 6,000 miles from home and ironically not anywhere near his native country.

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 01-06-2007 01:16 AM

I could always lie, it will be April Fools. :)

I think this calls for being there at opening (or at whatever time Mr. Bear will be there).

I hope to meet you to Rob!!

lashbear 01-07-2007 12:09 AM

Yes, there's a 14 day pass available pre-purchase for Aussies (we can't get it once we're over there, however.)

So, if Lashbear is four stories tall and wearing a kilt, wouldn't we be able to walk underneath to verify that he is the "biggest"?

Yaaay! I would be very sad if I missed The Bear. Seriously, I would really be unhappy, and unhappy and DL just don't go well together, you know.;):D

CoasterMatt 01-07-2007 12:41 AM

Unhappy and DL go together like flatulence and It's A Small World... no wait, that isn't right.

lashbear 01-07-2007 05:18 PM

so... who dunnit ?

wendybeth 01-07-2007 05:57 PM

Tori is the suspect, but she swears now that she didn't do it, and I think she would own up to it if she did. Plus, her 'episodes' don't generally smell like dead rat, and whatever stunk the place up was really wicked.

Oh, I thought she HAD owned up to it.

And ya; that smell was nasty. It was a case of it being SO bad, the only thing one could do was laugh.

Kevy Baby 01-07-2007 09:44 PM

Oh, and if we are trying to set the record for the World's Biggest Lashbear Meet: what is the record we have to beat?

Are those for real? Are they taking the sweet/salty to another level?

In the South {or so I've been told when I put jelly/jam on my sausage...} it is common. Or, rather, perhaps, it is not common here? Cause people give me a lot of  when I do it.

I'm still thinking of the Triple Espresso show here in the gaslamp for your trip to San Diego. Anyone see it? I found it hilarious but I am a knucklehead.

Here is a link, with a link inside of it.

Hmm. I just went and found that this is their last season. Don't know if it will still be running....

It says there are group discounts as well as, I believe, AAA discounts.

I looked but didn't see a dinner package for San Diego.

(Maybe it should have been deep-fried?)

It turns out their last weekend is the 14/15th April, Just when our week there ends - it might be nice for all of us to go on Sat 15th for a final night swanking !!

Let me know....it can be a fun night!

I guess no one else has seen this? I thought for sure someone must have.

I would only wonder if we might have to square it away in case the closing weekend might sell out quickly? I don't have a clue...

katiesue 01-22-2007 03:22 PM

I've read about it but never been. Closing weekend tickets might sell out quickly.

MouseWife 01-22-2007 08:29 PM

That is what I was thinking...

I will do a bit of research and see what times are for those dates. I don't remember the place as being very big.

MouseWife 02-01-2007 02:09 PM

Well. I have put in a call to group sale tickets for Triple Espresso. I'll see what kind of info they give. One thing I did pick up, you get group rate over 12 tickets.

When I get more info {and this being for their final performance date} I will post it and see what type of interest it generates.

MouseWife 02-01-2007 04:04 PM

Okay, this is my e-mail response:

"Thank you for your phone call. Groups of 12 or more receive a $5 discount off of each ticket for all performances except Saturday at 8:00 pm. Our producers in Minneapolis haven’t announced an official closing date yet for our San Diego show. We are currently selling through April 15th but they may extend. At this point there is room for a group of 20 on Sunday April 15th at 3:00 pm. The group rate would be $29.50 per person. In order to qualify for the group rate you would need to purchase all 20 tickets with one credit card or check. We can not do multiple transactions as a group. Since we are over two months away from the performance you can put 20 tickets on hold with a $100 deposit. We would need the final count and payment of the balance by March 26th. Once the balance is paid it is a final sale, we can not take any tickets away from the group but we can add them as long as there is room at the discounted price."

Okay, great, $5. discount. But, with my AAA card I can save $7. I don't know how many tickets I can purchase but ya know, it is less?

thecorndogwalker 02-01-2007 05:44 PM

i dont know where "there" is.. but i will be there..

lashbear 02-02-2007 05:37 PM

20 people might be a wee bit hard to get unless we recruit off the street ;)

I'll what the stoat wants to do when he gets home :)

MouseWife 02-02-2007 06:04 PM

Well, I don't think we need to go with their deal. We get better with AAA!!!

Let me know.

I was wondering if they changed it to being assigned seating. Last time we went it wasn't. That makes a difference.

MouseWife 02-02-2007 06:28 PM

I can't even imagine how excited you are! You are going to be having a real vacation! Not just a jaunt over the pond, so to speak.

I am excited, personally, about the possibility of meeting you.

Also, I am getting excited about the fact in March {and this is February!!!} that we are going to Yosemite!!! And that is a 3 night trip. I can't imagine how excited you are about a trip your length.

Umm. Do you have a house sitter? Not that I am volunteering but I am thinking about what I have to do for our little trip.

You must have a lot to work out.

Ya just gotta love logic like that, don't you ?

innerSpaceman 02-06-2007 10:41 PM

Well, it's not only that the target demographic at myspace is young even by my rather geppettophile standards ... but it's also that I'm a perfectionist who will want a reaaaallly cool myspace page - - that I have no time to create any time soon.

wendybeth 02-06-2007 10:45 PM

I haven't really been tempted to do the MySpace thing- I seldom update LJ, so I think it would be a waste of time. Might do it just out of curiousity to see Lash's itinerary, but I'd never use it.

That's what editors are for. Perfect page in 5 minutes or less.

€uroMeinke 02-06-2007 10:56 PM

The one thing I do think My Space is useful for is tracking bands/music you like. Often tour schedules, or one off appearances are announced here - also with the attached music files, it's a good way to sample some music in advance of some event like Coachella.

I suppose Lashbear used another nice feature I never use - the shared calendar.

I still prefer blogging on Live Journal though

innerSpaceman 02-06-2007 11:02 PM

omg, I made exactly two entries in my livejournal back in December ... and haven't updated it since.

iSm you finally have a livejournal ?

innerSpaceman 02-06-2007 11:29 PM

yeah, SuPeR K! talked me into it, but I really haven't kept up with it.

So now, of course, I'll post something tomorrow.

Um, you know anyone can see mine. (That was part of the problem, wasn't it?) ;)

It's zlick @ livejournal or something completely simple like that.

Prudence 02-07-2007 09:00 AM

I made a MS page to keep in touch with my cousins in Florida, because it's what they use. And to keep up with a classmate's baby news. There's no real content on my page. My LJ page has gobs of content, but nothing particularly useful or interesting. Which is fine, since I have few "friends" on either account.

innerSpaceman 02-07-2007 09:32 AM

Heheh, I don't have any "friends" on my live journal account. I was going to wait till I had accumulated at least a handful of entries before I formally invited anyone to "be my friend."

But I was talked into doing it because, as an adjunct to this right here at the LoT, it's a way to communicate deeper or at least more intricate things to your friends, things not likely to come up in casual conversation, so that they can have more of a peak into your life ... and, if they've got an LJ, a peak for you into theirs.

I rather like the idea, and I like writing. But, as I expected, I'm lazy about it.

Don't worry, most of us are equally lazy about it.

All this has prompted me to go and add friends on my MySpace account. Maybe I'll even add some, gasp, profile info.

innerSpaceman 02-07-2007 08:05 PM

um, link to mine in a post above. Ooooh, I made two friends already!

And all the profile information I originally wrote got lost when I tried to post it. It'll be a loooong time before I get back around to that, or to making the page look cool and what not. As you can tell from how often I change my avatar ... I'm all about content - - and while I love aesthetics, it's much lower on my priority list.

Peet's Coffee, then?

innerSpaceman 04-02-2007 08:40 AM

:) Lemme just say it was one of the finest meets (er, meats) ever. You never know when one of these is going to be merely loads of fun, or an event for ages ... and of course, I wanted the Lashmeet to be one for the ages (as I'm sure the Lashmeat is).

This exceeded all my expectations. The kind folks at Mice Chat always provide a fun crowd for the noon meet. And when you start with 60 people ... even the constant fall-off which happens from that moment on - - leaves 20 people to close the park 12 hours later!

The Lashes were made Honorary Citizens of Disneyland in a neat ceremony at Walt's statue, followed by a huge group photo in front of the Castle (see if you can find Lashbear hidden demurrerly in the crowd).

 A massive lunch at Plaza Inn followed, and a record-breaking fast pass run by Cadaverous Pallor and me (33 fastpasses for Indy).

Another record was shattered when 41 of us raided Pirates of the Caribbean ... with enough "front-loaders" to sink two boats. (Actually, we didn't e-stop the ride ... but tsunami-waves, wench-drenchings, bottoming-out flume drops, and walls of water were the order of the day .... was that Not Afraid singing "The Morning After" in the second row??)

The group then circumnavigated the Park aboard the recently-reopened Disneyland Railroad ... the Lashes in high style, esconsced inside the Lilly Belle for the journey. Left-over 50th Celebrations Parade of Dreams and the Steve Martin movie were next, followed by an odd flag-retreat ceremony at 4pm while the sun was near its apex in the sky.

We did manage to sink a boat on small world ... heheh, the craft crammed with 15 barely made it into the buliding before grinding to a halt ... and castmembers didn't notice until boats had backed up all the way to the loading dock! Five members were selected "at random" to disembark and take the Walk of Shame past all the stranded guests, who undoubtedly were muttering, "so those are the fat people who got us stuck here in the hot sun for 10 minutes!"

OMG, SCREAMING rides on Indy, the Matterhorn (you could hear CoasterMatt banshee-wailing throughout the entire mountain) and two on Big Thunder ... where the Lashes were introduced to The Goat Trick, and I found out other people besides me were really terrororized in the Longjohns Tunnel of Death. TeeHee, I'm still laughing at Gemini Cricket's Indian yell at the end of Ride 1.

A lovely dinner at Cafe Orleans (much vegemite was consumed, to Lashbear's delight). A pleasant Haunted Mansion ride, a trip to Hell with Mr. Toad, Remember fireworks in sensurround near Dumbo, and a rare and moody cruise aboard the Columbia to inspect all the Pirates Lair construction by the full moon light.

A post-pyro Peter Pan flight brought our silly switchback tradition of high-fives to a stunning level of hilarity and madcap fun that likely will never be topped. Being among the first dozen people on a re-opened Pan meant dashing through the switchbacks at high speed ... the queue turns so tight at points that everyone was High-Fiving on both sides at once! Even the CMs got into the act, as the operator High-Fived the inboard passenger on every departing Pirate Ship. Sailing into the Darling's bedroom, I HighFived a random stranger in the queue ... and Nephy & €uro topped it all by HighFiving each other from crossing Pirate Ships high above Neverland!

:snap: :snap: :snap:

Those are some of the highlights I can remember. It was great to have so many Disney friends come out of the woodwork for this one. A wonderful time was had by all, and I believe it will live for the Lash Pair as the great day that fulfilled its promise.

My thanks to everyone who attended, and to all those folks who've put out the welcome wagon for the Lashes ever since they arrived in California. Hahaha, I don't think they've spent a day without guests until today ... which I understand they will be spending around the pool with their feet up.

BTW, they're in town for the rest of the week, folks. More fun is in store! :D

.

~MS~ 04-02-2007 08:58 AM

Oh look he got his CROC's!!!!!! I'm so happy for him!

Kevy Baby 04-02-2007 10:17 AM

Where's Lashbear? I can't find him in that photo :D

Cadaverous Pallor 04-02-2007 11:10 AM

We showed up right after the photo, had to depart at 4pm, drove up to LA for a family Passover Seder, then drove back down to catch the revelers as they jumped breathlessly off of Peter Pan. Closed the park. We'll have to drive back up to LA tonight for more family stuff (and back again), but it was so worth it to make that drive back down.

:iSm: hit many highlights. There were far too many to list. Jungle Cruise with a skipper with impeccable timing. A beekeeper climbing the mast on the Columbia. A fastpass run involving 33 passes. After the fireworks, the park cleared out and we had the place to ourselves. Don't you just love when there's zero line for the Mansion and you can see the exterior without the clutter of crowding?

We did miss a bunch of the fun but the fun we did have was spectacular indeed. I always know it's been a good day when I feel like singing "Second Star to the Right" as we move towards the exit. I feel so lucky to have each and every one of my wonderful friends in my life.

:tiki:

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 04-02-2007 11:15 AM

Truly one of the best times at Disneyland ever. I laughed more this weekend that in the whole last year. It was a grand pleasure meating the Lash'es and wish I lived a bit closer in order to hang out this week. :( Oh well. Thanks to MickeyLumbo for the "Ariel" meet. Sadly I didn't get her number... But the "try" was too fun.

None stop amazing fun from the first second to the last!

Thanks everyone!!!!!

I saw many familiar faces, as well. It's weird because so many of them I've not met yet IRL. Looks like a great time was had by all and Lash would appear to have been right, biggest meet ever!

Coaster Matt excited to be sinking some boats

No, seriously, that is what she said. And they worked well together at it. :snap:

This was my first official 'meet at the hub @ noon' meet and it was quite a doozy! I think we took over the hub, much to the photographers placed theres' dismay. It was cool that they helped to arrange the big photo. {did anyone look at the official one?}

I didn't close down the park {almost returned after dinner but hadn't stamped my hand} but I had so much fun the time I did spend with everyone.

I tell ya, everyone is nice. It was nice to meet so many people and to re-meet so many others.

I really did trip out when sitting there at lunch and heard Cadaverous Pallor talking. Hey, her voice! {I know, little things trip me out}.

And, to hear people say my name! It was really cool.

I am really glad people have posted pictures {and links} because my memory isn't so hot on names and it is nice to see some names reconnected to faces.

I can't wait to attend another meat and I can't wait until the Lashes' come down for some local meat. :D

Sounds like an amazing time was had by all. Sorry I missed it but I completely forgot that I had promised I would help a friend move. After leaving NA's we had another thing to go to. Got home super late and then spent the day moving. I was contemplating going to close the park but my mind was set on sleep. Moving people on 4 hours of sleep is not fun.

MouseWife 04-03-2007 05:19 PM

I was sorry not to have seen you myself but totally understand.

I am so happy that I got to meet the LashPair over the weekend. Y'all are just too too adorable.... so warm and so much fun to hang out with.

My sleep schedule is still recovering from staying out so late on Sunday but holy lord it was all worth it!!!

Kevy Baby 04-03-2007 06:15 PM

Did we ever establish if he was indeed the World's Biggest Lashbear®?

MouseWife 04-03-2007 07:09 PM

I think it is a tough call. I mean, remember NA's comment about the last guy in line...'Not the first tall guy, not the second tall buy, but the third one...he's the last one of the group'.

So....maybe there should be some height posting?

Me, I am a puney 5'6...and a half. Gotta count that half!

But, I think he is the biggest Lashbear. That is for sure. ;0)

Kevy Baby 04-03-2007 07:45 PM

Boy was it a blast !!

We're still recovering from the April 1st meet and this evenings meet with the ISM/Zappp/Cricket brigade !! Those boys have a lot of get up and go !

We can't seem to break the cycle of Wake late, Go to park late, Stay till closing, get to sleep late.

Therefore, we might be a little late getting to the park tomorrow (and we have to pick up a car in the afternoon...)

We will probably make it for afternoon meet / drinkies but we have to turn into Pumpkins by 9:00pm.

Hoping to see Wenchybeth and others tomorrow evening.

Hugs
-The LashPair.
