Rockin' the parks iPod tour

So as we were joking about back on Sunday, one rather amusing swanking would be the Rockin' iPod tour of the parks. Basic concept is we'd assign songs to attractions, download the playlist to our respective iPods, and take ourselves a little tour.

But before we can actually schedule the event, we'd need to settle on the playlist. So, what say you?

Here's my input:

Rockin' Haunted Mansion - Dead Man's Party (Oingo Boingo)

DisneyFan25863 01-11-2007 12:05 AM

Rockin' Soarin' - Dani California (RHCP)
it's a small word - Rock Lobster (The B-52's)...just because the thought of all the dolls doing the backup vocals is hilarious.

Selections from my iPod might include:
Rockin' Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - Hobo Chang Ba (Captain Beefheart)
Rockin' Mr. Toad's Wild Ride - Manny, Moe & Jack (The Dickies)
Rockin' Storybook Land - Hypnotize (System of a Down)
Rockin' Alice In Wonderland - White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane)
Rockin' Jungle Cruise - The Rhythm of the Heat (Peter Gabriel)
Rockin' Main Street Trolley - Black Napkins (Frank Zappa)
Rockin' Splash Mountain - Possum of the Grotto (Rasputina)
Rockin' Winnie the Pooh - Hurt (Nine Inch Nails)

I was thinking perhaps something by Pink Floyd for Pooh. DOn't know what, but the psychedelic is just crying out for pink floyd

Of course with iPods being a solo experience, we could all develop our own playlists or test out certain attraction/song combos to make for multiple rockin-excursions - or even explore different genres (e.g. Happy Hardcore Fantasyland, or DCA Blues)

... and once we've developed the perfect playlists, Rockin' the parks boombox tour.

BTW, wouldn't have thought of it myself, but I love Manny Moe and Jack on Toad.

Suddenly, I'm really liking this idea ;) but I am so bummed my iPod is dead! :( :( :( I do have my Discman, I guess.

Shooting Star - Bang! for Peter Pan
Elysium - Scott Brown for Soarin' over California

Hmm, this is going to take a lot of thought and trial...

Someone needs to post the approximate running times of the attractions in question so that the songs can be properly synched.

SacTown Chronic 01-11-2007 10:43 AM

Thunderstruck - AC/DC for Rockin' Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Another One Bites The Dust - Queen for Rockin' the Pooh
Whiplash - Metallica for Rockin' Space Mountain
Suicide's An Alternative - Suicidal Tendencies for Rockin' Innovations

Ina Goda Davita by Iron Butterfly for Rockin' Pirates of the Caribbean?

Jeremiah was a Bullfrog (aka Joy to the World) - Mr. Toad

I should say - I did this on small scale about... I don't know 4 or more years ago? Before I met all of you guys, that's for sure. I can no longer remember the songs I chose, but I've done it for Space Mountain and Big Thunder Railroad, matching ride times with song times.

The inspiration for finding other songs to go with rides sprung from a little experiment BTD and I did during the time Space Mountain was without sound. She and I downloaded the song on our iPod and played it at the start of the ride. Good times, good times....

It's my opinion that a song is best suited when the start and end times roughly match up. If it's too long of a ride, double up the songs... And yes, I can be rather anal about it. Heaven help me!

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, for all rides. (after visiting the parking structure with certain members of this board)

blueerica 01-11-2007 04:24 PM

Ooooh... interesting idea.

That is an outrageous accusation.

The Disneyland Hotel parking lot is a far better locale.

I stand corrected, as I was only repeating hearsay.

It should be mentioned that before he met any of us, zapppop was doing the same thing. The first time we saw him he was walking alone with headphones.

SacTown Chronic 01-11-2007 04:43 PM

I've never even been to the parking structure.
