Linerider beta 2

So, I originally posted Linerider in the silly thread. It's been upgraded to include a couple more tools (including, god bless them, and eraser).

I thought I'd done some pretty cool things with the first version...until I caught a short segment about linerider on a video podcast and then did a YouTube search. Dear god.

Brigitte 02-05-2007 11:38 AM

OMG, insane. I'm glad for the eraser though :)

Those are some great lineriders. I was impressed with myself when I got him to do a single loop and not fall off the sled... damn.

Ditto.

Took about 10 tries for me to place the starting line so that he didn't just fall through it.

Heh, I guess you naturally draw from right to left then?

Ghoulish Delight 02-06-2007 01:09 PM

I don't have a sound card on the system I use at work, so someone's going to have to tell me if there's audio to go with this "short", but...I'm stunned at what I'm seeing.

Ghoulish Delight 02-06-2007 01:40 PM

Oops, I didn't give a link, did I. Well, no matter, 'cause I just found a goldmine of unfreakingbelievable creations.

linerider.org

Prepare to feel inadequate.

No, it just didn't like where was I was starting the line beneath the start point. Apparently it was too close (though the sled had to fall to get to it) because it just kept falling through.

I love this game. It's really crazy what some of the finishing products look like!

Ghoulish Delight 02-08-2007 09:12 AM

Cripes, I've just discovered that there's such a thing as "acceleration lines"!

Kevy Baby 02-08-2007 01:02 PM

These, I believe, are the red lines?

What is the functionality of the different colored lines?

Blue is normal, red is accelerating (does what it says..accelerates you) and green is purely for decorative purposes (dude goes right through 'em).

If you press 'h' it brings up help, hover over all the different tools and it will tell you lots of good info.

Meanwhile, I've learned where saved files live (at least on Windows) so we can share our creations if we so desire.

c:\documents and settings\[yourusername]\application data\macromedia\flash player\#sharedobjects\[somerandomstringofcharacters]\www.linerider.com\

The file is savedlines.sol. If you happened to just type linerider.com instead of www.linerider.com, it'll be under that. Or if you went to www.official-linerider.com (I don't know why there's a distinction), it's under that.

I suppose I should post mine after saying all that. Just unzip the file and copy it into the directory above (be sure to rename your existing file for safe keeping).

The track called "Whoa That's Big" is, well, big. It tends to lag a little, especially when you first hit play.

These ain't exactly the extravagant masterpieces others have done, but they sure were fun to make.

Thanks for the info!

Though I shouldn't have asked because now I'm gonna end up wasting time messing with this!

Alex 02-08-2007 05:27 PM

How do you load it?

I copied your file into that folder but see now way to load a file.

If you are in the applet, there should be a little save icon. Click that and a window should pop up with my tracks listed.

Alex 02-08-2007 08:52 PM

Nope.

Alex 02-08-2007 09:02 PM

Ok, got it working.

I had to delete the save file it automatically creates when you access the site, close my browser, and then copy in your file before reopening the browser and going back to the site.

Ghoulish Delight 02-08-2007 10:40 PM

Hmm, it didn't seem to be that picky when I tried it, but I may have had the browser closed when I replaced the existing file.

So, are you now cowering before my Linerider prowess?

There are also the movies right on the site. "Tumbling" and "Ding!" are impressive.

Yeah, I spent about three hours messing around with it tonight. I found an interesting use for the accelerator lines: brakes.

I'm trying to set mine up so that the end is starting over again - not as easy as I thought.

The last thing I added tonight threw my guy into one of my launch loops. He ended up getting stuck going 'round and 'round in circles. Which is really funny when you are tired.

I made a giant loop that my guy goes around about 34 times, then falls off...and keeps going around ad-infinitum.

Ghoulish Delight 03-30-2007 11:07 PM

Dude. Dude.

Line Rider Mario

Meanwhile, a version is being developed for Wii. Coincidence?!

Kevy Baby 03-31-2007 08:38 AM

That amount of free time some people have is astounding!

Kevy Baby 05-07-2007 01:13 PM

Damnit... why can't I just forget that this exists? Been wasting too much time on this lately.

Kevy Baby 05-07-2007 03:05 PM

Holy crud: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW44BpXpjYw

Kevy Baby 07-18-2007 06:47 PM

When one runs CCLeaner, one loses all saved tracks :(
