Anna Nichole Smith Dead!

http://www.nbc4.tv/entertainment/10965057/detail.html

Wow!

Snowflake 02-08-2007 02:10 PM

Years of abuse finally caught up with her?

Ghoulish Delight 02-08-2007 02:10 PM

The place I was eating lunch had some news channel on mute with captions on the bottom. Because of the captions I couldn't see what the graphic at the bottom said, but I thought that might have been it (couldn't make out whether she died or was just hospitalized).

Thus ends a very strange saga (though somehow I doubt that's really the end of the saga).

bewitched 02-08-2007 02:12 PM

I just posted this in soooooo....

Anna Nicole Smith died...they are now speculating that she and her son shared a genetic condition.

The Story

She was found unconcious in her hotel room and pronounced dead at the hospital.

Alex 02-08-2007 02:13 PM

Huh. I just got back from the gym and the bottom of the screens there just said she had collapsed.

I was thinking it would only be news if she were fully upright under how own power.

An...interesting...life lived. At least she was one of those people that is probably too stupid to ever realize that people were laughing at her and not with her.

It'll be interesting if this somehow ends up back in TrimSpa's lap.

3894 02-08-2007 02:22 PM

I can't wait to see what outfit Bobby Trendy puts together for the funeral.

I was thinking that as well.

Wow. It's a bit of a surprise, but I guess we'll have to wait and see what the ME has to say, if anything.

Capt Jack 02-08-2007 02:50 PM

I keep wondering if she maybe whacked herself. just walked in from lunch to that news. a little unexpected to be sure

Alex 02-08-2007 03:08 PM

Is it wrong that part of me is thinking about the 61 points I didn't just earn in my celebrity death pool?

Not Afraid 02-08-2007 03:37 PM

Poor Anna Nicole. I find people who just spin out of control their whole lives to be the saddest sort of individuals.

BarTopDancer 02-08-2007 03:40 PM

She has a little baby too :(

I remember hearing something about a huge paternity issue. First thought was she took her own life but then I remembered her baby and the paternity issues. I wonder if it wasn't homicide.

Now, how long until there is a "ripped from the headlines" L&O about this?

Jughead P. Jones 02-08-2007 03:42 PM

Apparently, there's rumours that she died at her own hand. Regardless, all the stress that she was dealing with lately certainly didn't help her health or sanity one bit.

Love her or hate her...her life was never boring.

Gemini Cricket 02-08-2007 04:25 PM

Wow! I'm stunned. Her poor baby.
:(

JWBear 02-08-2007 04:25 PM

I'll have some fried chicken tonight, in her honor...

blueerica 02-08-2007 07:55 PM

With the ups and downs with weight loss (and thusly a weakened heart), the drugs, the drinking, the party lifestyle... Well, I guess it just caught up.

Next 6 months: News on the paternity suit and who gets the money - the lawyer hubby or the guy that's probably the father of the baby? DUN DUN DUNNN!

NickO'Time 02-08-2007 08:14 PM

Whoa!! A friend of mine ran into her in SF in a bar a year ago. She has had a roller coaster life for sure.

Gn2Dlnd 02-08-2007 08:23 PM

Why couldn't the angels have taken Angelyne, instead? She's at least 65 or so.

bewitched 02-08-2007 08:23 PM

She was only 1 month younger than me. :(

As much as she came off as stupid, people who knew her have been describing her today as funny, generous and "dumb like a fox". She had her problems like a lot of people do but she also had lots of tragedy.

I feel so sorry for her daughter and husband.

No more than me seeing the 61 point figure and thinking, "Holy crap, she was only 39?"

CrazyLegs 02-09-2007 02:17 AM

This is sad. I feel so bad for that little baby girl and of course Anna's family and husband.

Betty 02-09-2007 06:18 AM

Apparently Anna wasn't married. They had a committment ceremony but never made it legal.

I'm sure that this won't help the legacy of legal battles that seem to follow in her wake.

I think the wedding was supposed to be in the near future. The couple was in Florida to look at rings apparently.

Alex 02-09-2007 11:01 AM

Nothing more fun than protracted probate at the best of times. Think how fun it will be when nobody is sure what the estate owns and is entitled too, who the estate's heirs are, who the guardians for those heirs are, and what domicility will be used.

And who wants to bet she died intestate?

Though, as I mentioned to Lani last night as we watched our five minutes of the coverage: You know who the big winner in this story is? The crazy astronaut lady.

NirvanaMan 02-09-2007 11:29 AM

Hmm, I am shocked. I would have thought that her aftermarket assets would have caused her to bounce right back up had she collapsed.

Perhaps she fell on her back.

Ghoulish Delight 02-09-2007 12:06 PM

Let the circus begin.

First, one ex-boyfriend is claiming paternity for her new baby rather than the not-quite-husband. Now (I swear I'm not making this up) Zsa Zsa Gabor's Husband, Prince Frederick von Anhalt, claims he's been having a 10 year affair with her and the baby is his.

Is there any organic material left to Angelyne?

Well, I guess the late great Anna Russell has come back from the dead and is updating her explanation of Wagner's Ring Cycle to the Anna Nicole saga.

Of course, to be catty, Zsa Zsa probably has not been any fun in years.

Alex 02-09-2007 12:37 PM

Yeah, I'm sure the car accident with year's of pain physical therapy and then last year's stroke with its slow recovery has made her quite the bore at home.

€uroMeinke 02-09-2007 12:40 PM

Whoa - what a great contemporary opera this story would make

Oh jeez, sorry.

I was referring to Zsa Zsa being 90-something (I think maybe she'd admit to 70, maybe).

It'd be like a Harry Potter movie - too many characters, too little time. But which colorful, unsavory lover would you cut?

Not Afraid 02-09-2007 03:08 PM

Well, she made it 3 years beyond her idol Marilyn Monroe (who died at 36).

Isaac 02-09-2007 05:17 PM

Reese Witherspoon has been cast to play Anna Nichole in a upcoming movie about her life.

Hollywood sure moves fast.

Gemini Cricket 02-09-2007 05:24 PM

MadTV on Anna
:D

lashbear 02-09-2007 08:17 PM

Goodness... I wonder if she saw that? Maybe it pushed her over the edge ?

wendybeth 02-09-2007 10:09 PM

So, did she aspire to be dead Marilyn or live but barbituate-soaked Marilyn? I guess she got both.

I can't help but think she made some deal with the Devil back in her stripper days but neglected to specify that she actually be alive to enjoy her fame. This is beyond bizarro. Oh, and I thought Zsa-Zsa was already dead. I guess that was Eva that died?

Yep - 1995. "Respiratory failure due to complications of food poisoning" according to IMdB.

Alex 02-09-2007 11:06 PM

Just watched my second five minutes of coverage (The Countdown with Keith Olbermann; is it intentionally ironic that he slams Anderson Cooper for having a content-free show while he himself spend 30 seconds on a European sex toy theft and 15 minutes on Anna Nicole Smith?).

Anyway, does that Florida medical examiner have the weirdest shaped head ever?

Not Afraid 02-09-2007 11:22 PM

Are the results from the autopsy in?

All preliminary so far (from cnn)

• Exam finds no evidence of long-term drug abuse
• Autopsy reveals no drugs in stomach, no injuries
• No crime appears to have been committed, police say
• Judge orders body preserved until February 20 hearing

Not Afraid 02-09-2007 11:31 PM

Zsa Zsa's husband was called a "chronic fabricator" in an article I ust read. That's a nice euphamism. I'll have to remember that one.

Von Anhalt, who is Gabor's eighth husband, said he and Smith met in the 1990s when Smith was still married to elderly oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II. He said Smith approached him and Gabor at the Plaza Hotel in New York.

"She was a very big fan of Zsa Zsa and wanted to be like Zsa Zsa," he said. "She wanted to be a princess."

He said the two started an affair soon after, meeting over the years in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.

For much of that time, he said, Smith urged him to make her a princess like his wife.

But short of divorcing the actress, he said the only solution would have been adopting Smith.

Von Anhalt said he did consider that and even filled out adoption papers, but Gabor refused to sign them.

He was going to *adopt* Smith? Huh?

From what I read somewhere yesterday, and I'm too lazy to look for it, that's how he bought his princely title. He was adopted as an adult by some poorer decendent of the last Kaiser.
