Dang - now I wish we took pictures

RStar 03-06-2007 07:50 AM

You got to see it in person?

I've resigned to the fact that I will never see the apartment, never eat at Club 33, and never ride in the Lily Belle. Though the last one is the most possible.

This tour is interesting because of the naration, but also with the few pictures I'd seen it looks bigger than I thought. And I didn't know it had a kitchenette.

innerSpaceman 03-06-2007 08:12 AM

Le Sigh. My chance to see the apartment in person seems to have evaporated.

And feh ... I've been to Club 33 so many times the excitement's all gone out of it. One little thing has happened just recently, though, to revive that spirit a bit: I've been asked to perform a wedding ceremony for friends who are getting married at the Resort ... and their reception is at Club 33. In May. Can't wait.

Can't watch it from here. Did they do a new one or is the one they put out for the 50th?

I wonder what Tim O'Day is doing these days.

I think this is from the 50th. One of Tim O'Day's comments gave the impression the 50th anniversary was still going on.

What a treat to not only view the apartment, but also get the history of the various pieces in the room. Thanks for posting this!!:snap:

Your welcome. And if it is from the 50th, I just saw it for the first time.

But hey, at least it's not on YouTube! ;)

Yeah, you ARE evil. Walt will haunt you from the grave, err, frozen chamber beneath the Matterhorn.

That was a very nice tour! I have such great memories from the day I got to visit.

One thing he doesn't mention is that the two red couches are actually fold away beds. I believe one was Walt's and the other was Lillians.

RStar 03-07-2007 10:43 PM

And they appear to be built-in. I see no arms, but rather walls at the end of each side. I wonder if they were custom made for the space?

The frozen chamber is the only thing keeping the Matterhorn from sinking.;)

Actually that is a great tour show of Walt's Apt. I have seen it posted in the LA times site as well.

MickeyLumbo 03-28-2007 07:04 PM

 i got a surprise invitation and leisurely visit there today.

it is still amazing. camera rule not strictly enforced this time around. i apologize ISM, it was really spontaneous.

innerSpaceman 03-28-2007 07:07 PM

:(

MickeyLumbo 03-28-2007 07:14 PM

swear to gawd i thought of you... i can't even have a cell phone with me right now. ( but, was not in any position to invite a Guest - i was with, um, with someone, um, UP there.)

MickeyLumbo 03-28-2007 07:36 PM

but i have to add that today's visit was no where near as giddy-fun as last time with dear friends.

a bit of a formal visit today.

but, i still think it is remarkable to have, in 1955, 4 shower heads installed.
