American Idle!
Okay, I am almost embarrassed to say I have been watching this show, but for crying out loud it has been more tragic then Eddie Griffins car crash.. I was watching it last night, and Gwen Stefani was the special guest and the kids on the show were slaughtering all these No Doubt and Stefani songs.
Yikes. Is anyone watching this debacle? Or am I going to have to start a loser thread for myself???????:( |
Sanjaya has got to go. OMGTHEHAIR!
|
LOL! If only Sanjaya would dye his hair blue...he could look like Marge Simpson.
If there's any justice in this world, the final three would be Melinda, Blake and LaKisha. But, as long as we have "VoteForTheWorst.com", hair boy could end up taking it all. I miss the old days of American Idol, when Paula Abdul wasn't nearly such a space case as she is now. |
Yeah, i've been watching. It's been a bad year.
Phil has a voice, but looks like an alien. Sonjaya is the creepy Michael Jackson clone mini-me. Lakysha and Mel have amazing voices. Chris (NSync wanna be) is annoying as hell and has only one expression and 2 dance moves. Big Chris has a good voice but hasn't wowed me yet. Hayley is hot, but only in the last few episodes showed she could actually sing ok. Hot rocker chick - oh yeah. Beat box dude - go away please. Spunky Black chick - please go away. |

please dont vote sanjaya out!
|
I wonder if Simon will actually not come back for next season if Sanjaya takes it all.
|
I've never watched AI, I just watch the Soup, which keeps me up to date on this show as well as all the other schlock out there. :D
I think Sanjaya's awesome, because he's already proof that eventually, America will vote for the crappy people. The first episode of each season is always so popular - why not keep the crazies around? Talent is so passe. |
Last night was actually his best night this season. He still has to go though.
|
My wife and daughter watch it. I happened to catch Sanjaya singing "You've really Got Me". All I could do was stare and blink and wonder how it was possible he made it through to the point that the audience can start voting. The rest must have been really, really bad.
|
I read the thread title and thought that maybe it was a parody show. Turns out it was just a typo.

Later Chris Sligh. Maybe you should have not sang a "Sting" song on Gwen Stefani's night. But you smiley jack osborney crooner you had to go...
Can Sanjaya ever be stopped? |
TONIGHTS EPISODE 3/3/07
- Tony Bennett was the guest tonight. And he was like giving praise to Sanjaya. It was psycho! - Phil "the alien" Stacey, so has to go! I just cant look at that weird goofy face of his. -The judges gave praise to Chris (Justin Timberlake) but I didnt think he was that great. -Melinda Doolite was awesome. - Haley is trying so badly to be the next Catherine Mcphee. - And of course the Sanjaya. Who basically is becoming more popular by the minute. He destroyed "Stepping out with my baby" but got praised. Dont think he is gone yet! |
Sadly, Sanjaya was not the worst last night. Haley was. Plus, she ignored Tony Bennett.
I think Chris has good vocal control, but then so did Jim Breuer when he did Goat Boy. Unfortunately, I forgot to vote. |
I hadn't watched this show since whatever year Ruben Studdard was on. i saw a news segment about the whole Sanjaya issue, and I watched about half of last night's show, and thought to myself, this thing has catapulted over the friggin' shark already!
|
I was concerned that with Howard Stern on a one-week vacation, the "Keep Sanjaya" juggernaut would fail, but it seems that Sanjaya's crappy fellow contestants have taken care of that themselves.
|
I've only seen what I see on Keith Olberman (when I remember to watch that) and the whole thing amazes me. I've never seen any of the shows from any season. Sadly, because of the wrap up on Keith Olberman's show, I can say I've seen Sanjaya. Talent-free and I could have lived my life without ever being exposed to it.
|
Actually, even if Sanjaya wins it all, that's not to say the others won't make it big. Look at Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler and Clay Aiken for example. They all lost Idol, and they're much bigger successes that Taylor-Whatsisface could ever hope to be.
|
Quote:
I saw on Yahoo front page today how Idol needs Sanjaya now.. |
You know, they put good dancers on "So You Think You Can Dance" and that show's very entertaining to watch.
I saw a few seconds last night--some girl walking among the audience butchering some song--and promptly turned back to the Nova special about cuttlefish. |
If they want Sanjaya to go, they should stop being rude to him. I submit that Haley wouldn't have made the top 12 over Sabrina if Simon hadn't implied she was dressed like a whore, thus motivating votes from an army of defensive mothers-of-daughters-with-dreams all over America. Sanjaya definitely has a fan base apart from the people who've been trying to screw up the show. All these people have a limited attention span, however, and if Sanjaya is treated politely as someone who's just not good enough, he'll go.
|
Quote:
Sanjaya (I prefer "Sangyna") has finally won me over. I *heart* him. I have no clue why. All I know is, when doing my voting last night, everyone got a vote. And Sanjaya got a' plenty. I love Blake. I love Chris. Melinda's "aw, shucks" attitude is refreshingly endearing & sweet. LaKisha's mogambos are even bigger and more powerful then her voice. While we all appreciate those sweet cocoa jugs (and who doesn't?), maybe keep them tucked in a tad more. It's kinda classier that way. And LaKisha is a class act. :) |
Quote:
I feel the same way about Sanjaya. Im hoping Haley gets the boot tonight. Or the alien.... |
I think Melinda deserves to win, but I'm not sure I buy the constant "You like me, you really like me" shtick. Remember, during dedication week, when everyone else was appealing to the red states by dedicating songs to their harelipped grandmother, Melinda dedicated her song to her two best friends, who, she elaborated, were her vocal coach and personal stylist.
I liked Phil a lot initially. He seemed smooth and at ease with himself. Now that's degenerated into cockiness, and he should go. But not before Haley. |

but look how taylor sailed through last year, he was unique, his voice, his mannerisms, his hair.. its about being different.. everyone has gotten bored with the black girl, country girl, funky rocker chic, all american boy molds.. well see what happens.. |

arrgghhh,, it was down to the bottom three of the week; haley, the alien and gina glocksen and guess what the rocker chick was voted off... another safe sanjaya week!!!
|
Mildly sorry to see her go, but in retrospect you could see it coming. The bump in viewership that tuned in just to see Tony Bennett would have been turned off by her punk look and tongue stud.
Just like last year when on country week the bottom three were the two black women and the little Jewish-looking guy. Just like two years ago when Constantine was voted off the week they showed everybody's families and his looked thin, sophisticated, well-dressed and well-off and not like they just fell off the hayride. (He also probably got screwed because it was Orthodox holy week.) Not that I've studied this or anything. Right. Back to work. |
Quote:
quite the observant one there,, remind me to take you to vegas with me! |
Also watching- sort of.
(I did get Daughtry and Taylor's CD's for my berf-day yesterday) |
Quote:
Sadly, we lost Gina.. :( My random observations so far: *I love Blake. I really do. However, is it just me or does he always seem to shuffle about the stage like some sort of retro-esque robot? Not everything calls for beat-boxing, either. In fact, I'd be willing to venture most things don't. *I love Sanjaya. From his makes the little girls weep hair & smile, down to his kick-ass Barry-Gibbs-called-and-wants-his-look-back white leisure suit. Every week, I wonder what he'll do next. How will he style his hair? A faux-hawk? The "Rachel"? However, I'm actually afraid he'll run out of shocking, kicky 'do's & then what? Boy, I wish he'd take the stage wearing Aladdin balloon pants & gold pointy slippers, whilst playing a flute and charming a snake out a basket. Or, fly over the audience on a magic carpet. That would be awesome. Keep on rockin', brother. Keep on votin', fanjayas! :) |
OH YES Another week of the Idle ( i mean Idol) And guess what, it gets worse.. J-LO is the guest tonight.. Yikes.. I mean..Jenny on the Block never did a live peformance.. it will be hilarous to see her and Sanjaya together..
|
ouch. everyone was so safe last night. nobody really impressed me.. well sanjaya had his little latin ballad... please get rid of haley or the alien.. one of them has to go!
|
Yeah, nothing impressive last night. Mostly meh.
Phil looks like Moby's much taller brother. |
I thought about this Thread last night while watching AI & burning up my cell phone voting for Sanjaya & Blake. And once for Hayley. :)
I agree with you, Corndog & Steph! Mega Zzzz's to last night. In fact, I leafed through my Cosmo magazine during the entire show. (Fun fact nobody cares about: I think J.Lo is darling.) Last nights observations: *FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY, tuck in those ginormous funbags, LaKisha! I don't mean to be crude (oh, of course I do) Her rack distracts me so much I can barely focus on what she's singing. I could be wrong, but I think we'll see her in the bottom 3 tonight. Along with Phil & Hayley. :( *Chris & Blake were the only performances that caught my attention. Oh, and Sanjaya of course. Speaking of Sanjaya.. *I don't think I'm a fan of the little mustache. It's kind of sinister, like Snidley Whiplash. However, I LOVE wondering what his weekly look will be. I was hoping he would sport long, elegant extensions last night ala Hayley & Jordin. I'm also hoping for cornrows. *Sanjaya totally made love to the camera last night. I was giggling over the googly eyes he was making. And you know what? I thought he was actually good. I can't believe I haven't mentioned this earlier, but I LOATHE those lame-o Ford commercial/videos. They don't even attempt to be hip. I find them painful to watch & I actually get embarrassed. I don't mean to be cruel, but do they strive to be heinous? |
Yeah, another snoozer of a show.
As I said on another "board" If you traced back all the votes for Suckjaya they'd prob. lead back to Neverland Ranch... ;) |
Quote:
|
Quote:
I had to vote for Suckjaya last night. He was the only one that had any character... He was the best of the night! Can you believe that.. Also can you believe it, I mean now the producers are milking the whole Sanjaya thing.. They left him last.. I think that was done on purpose.. I think at this point they understand that people are actually watching it for him... -watching all these celebrities meet sanjaya is fun each week... maybe next year he will be on Dancing with the Stars, or Surreal Life??? BTW.. Have to agree with ALLY those Ford commercials are like being rolled in batter and dipped into a hot vat of oil.. they hurt and they are annoying.. gone are those days when AI had kids on the show... and they were happy go lucky kids running around washing a car.. now they look like a bunch of adults who desperately want to stay in the limelight... |
Quote:
LOLOL!! I would love Sanjaya to do Dancing with the Stars! Surreal Life would be just the best. Sanjaya bunking with Ron Jeremy. I'm so glad I'm not alone on those Ford commercials! The car wash was excruciating. And the western one with Chris on the horse (lucky horse) was just so Universal Studios stunt show circa 1985 (with no offense to the stunt show). Just gasp inducingly hein-i. :( |
Haley's gone. Thank goodness. If she had made it to country week, she probably would have made it even another week. Now she can go home and go back to practicing making kicky faces in the mirror.
I voted for Sanjaya last night for the first time. He surprised me. I thought he was going to come out with a Conga drum and sing Babalu, but he did pretty well. |
I happened to be home earlier than usual last night and had this on in the background. If I hadn't heard clips other places and tuned in for the first time last night, I would not have understood why people were so down on whatshisname. There were at least two people who performed worse last night, and apparently one of them is now gone.

She really did try to be like the "McPhee" alot of times, the sitting on the stage, the flowy hair, the precious looks into the camera.. but sorry Haley, you didnt have the Mcpheever...
But looking like a hoochie with those coochie cutter shorts you wore each week probably got you alot of boy votes.. but really when it came down to it you only gave me some yawn.... GO SANJAYA!!!! Oh and on another note, when J-LO was talking about AI last night on her pre-contestant segments she mentioned that she and Mark Anthony sit down each week and watch the show and she has her favorites.. I cant just see her doing that.. seemed like she was just saying that for the camera.. Not a big fan of hers, but she was much better with the kids than Stefani.. |
I can believe that she watches it, but I thought it was obvious tonight when Ryan asked her what she thought about the judges' comments that she hadn't watched last night.
|
jenny from the block was busy watching the Dancing with the stars Recap show last night...
|
COUNTRY..
Tonight the Sanjaya gets to sing country... Oh yeah and the other kids too... Looking forward to the insanity of the show.... |
I think Suckjaya should sing "Lady" by Kenny Rogers. That'll wet some panties! :p
|
Quote:
The Sanjaya sang Bonnie Raitt's "Give them Something to talk about" oh so horrible, he is getting so full of himself. He actually knows he is this talked about celeb.. Then Miss Seacrest defending Sanjaya was the best. It looked like Simon and Ryan were going to have a bitch fight over Sanjaya. I loved it.. Then when they came back from commercial, Ryan was standing behind Paula and Randy and you can see the disgust in Simon's face... Quite possibly Sanjaya is going home tonight????? But if not it will be Chris, the alien, or Lakisha in the bottom two?? |
Sanjaya was definitely the worst, and I'm hoping that the bump in viewership from country fans who don't get the joke will send him home. Beyond that, I'm not sure what show the judges were watching. I thought LaKisha gave a good performance and Jordin was the one who was shouting, braying, etc.
|
Sanjaya was horrible last night. DialIdol has him in the bottom 3 too. Hopefully he goes home tonight.
Whoever sung "When the Stars Go Blue" was horrible too. It sounded like bad karaoke. It is obvious that the judges have never heard the song. Phil was great. I think he was the best out of all of them. |
Quote:
Blake is the guy who tried to do Tim McGraw's song. I always forget about him, the judges make such a fuss over him. I think he is annoying. But thank the Lord he didnt beat-box during that song.... |
I was out to dinner last night with family. I'm watching it on my tivo tonight!
Sadly, that meant I didn't get to vote. :( |
Someone told me that there will be an ABBA week on AI does any one if there is any truth in that? Oh Sanjaya, dancing queen... that i got to see!!!
|
I wish I could have voted too. But, it's not open to CANADIANS. Instead, we get to vote on our own version of Idol, which is hosted by the son of what some may call our worst prime minister. Yay! ;)
If I could vote, I'd vote for Jordin. |
Gotta love those country music fans.
I is a happy camper tonight. |

Oh all you Fanjaya's out there were feeling the sadness tonight as the reign of the Sanjaya met a american voted death. Hey its the same country that voted Bush in! We will miss you! Actually probably not, since you will be on every talk show, late night show and on every entertainment news program for the next couple of days.. And who knows? Maybe like the William Hung's of the world you too will have your own album. But if you dont, I am sure many crying of joy little girls will see you on the AI tour this summer..
Godspeed Sanjie... |
so many crying little girls
|
Darn...I was looking forward to seeing Sanjaya butcher "A Moment Like This" during Songs Recorded By Former Idol Contestants Week. :D
|
Quote:
It's a dark day in my allyverse. :( |
Sanjaya has his fans, he has his strengths and if he plays to them, he'll do just fine. He did not, however, deserve to win this competition.
|
Now lets see if the ratings change now that Sanjie is kicked off??
|
Nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey good bye!!!
I didn't see the show last night but with all the dancing in the streets I figured he was voted off. YAY! |
I can hardly wait for Keith Olberman's show tonight, then. I don't watch AI, but his commentary with the NY DJ has been quite funny. The video clips have been, well, amazing.
|

Idol gives back... Oh lord. The kids are singing sad songs tonight...
|
Well, Elton John said that "sad songs say so much". ;)
|
Everyone bring lighters and boxes of tissue. If you don't know how to "sway" with the group, it's time to start practicing.
|
I hear that Bono is coaching the kids tonight and prepping them for the big show tommorrow.. It seems awful that one of the kids is going to get kicked out tommorrow night, there are supposed to be all these celebrities and fundraising stuff... then someone gets the boot....
|
Quote:
:p |
oh lord please dont let Phil Stacey be the new Sanjaya, remove him from the show...
Why am I even caring? |
Quote:
How I love this Thread! :snap: I thought every contestant did very well last night. I like LaKisha, I do, but this is American Idol, not open audition day at Hooters. PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY, TUCK IN YOUR BOOBS. Last night, Jordin got my vote. I think she's amazing! Any bets on who gets the hook tonight? :( |
Quote:
LaKisha..... |
Quote:
;) |
My prediction:
Blake is gone. On red state swollen charity night, you don't stare straight into the camera and sing "And no religion, too." La Kisha was good, if a little shaky at the start. Yes, it wan't as good as Fantasia, but so what? Simon seems to be pushing for a Melinda or Jordin vs. Phil final. Hence, his ignoring of how bad Phil sounded last night and his plea to stay country and sell records. |
So, My friend had all the audition episodes taped.. and I re-watched them a little and looking at the final 6, I keep asking myself what the hell were the judges thinking, there were some awesome singers and some awesome personalities that could have made it far....
|
I think the Idol clock has run out for either Phil or Chris.
(At least, I HOPE the Idol clock has run out for Phil or Chris) GO JORDIN!!! |
I worry that Phil being the new 'vote for the worst' is going to keep him around a few weeks longer than his talent deserves. I would not be surprised to lose Chris or Lakisha tonight.
|
What the hell was that??? AI Gives Back!!!
1. Ellen Degeneres looked like she didnt want to be there.. 2. Celine Dion & Elvis duet????? 3. Not voting anyone out!!! Faking the audience and the poor kids like that! OOOOHH, that was a waste of time! Luckily I didnt watch all of it... There are many more things that are worthwile about last nights show, but I am too peeved to talk about it.. |
I'm glad I taped it so I could fast-forward through most.
What was the last group song they performed, right after the taped piece with Bono? My DVR cut off at 10 PM and the show must have gone over a minute or two. |
It's Bon Jovi night... who is going to go???
|
Well, I missed tonight's episode, but I'd have to say that since it's rock night, I'd hazard a guess that LaKisha would probably have the most trouble, given her previous selections of songs.
|
RECAP:
-Bon Jovi was actually digging his role as music mentor to the kids. -Simon kissed Lakisha -Blake dyed his hair black, and beat-boxed his heart out! -Melinda got very Tina Turner with her peformance. - George and Laura Bush showed up at the end of the show!!!! MY PREDICTION FOR BOTTOM TWO: Phil and Chris |
wow- you're good- Phil & Chris both gone. :)
I am only keeping up by checking online- not watching anymore, not til the finale. |
Quote:
|
I was wondering where y'all went!
I missed Tuesday night's show due to a family crisis. And by crisis I mean that one of my family members has wigged out and is making all of the others wretchedly miserable sooo we all had to rally and put the wigged out one in check. And don't act like any of you can't relate to those time-stealing shenanigans. ;) *But since we aren't discussing families that double as a circus side show.. I only caught Blake's performance. I really dig him. He's unique and refreshing. I like anybody that doesn't follow a sometimes stale and tired formula. I LOVED Chris!! Phil had completely won me over!! Why won't LaKisha get the proverbial hook already? I think she's quite lovely & talented, but much like a case of bronchitis, it never goes away. Even long after you think it should have. :( *I really love my family to pieces! They make me proud to be a part of them everyday! :snap: |
What? Huh? There was something beyond Bon Jovi singing that song?
omg that was amazing. /sigh |
American Idle!
I missed both nites due to my work schedule and thus not even having a remotely chance to be there in person but now i know there will be a Bon Jovi tour starting in January but end of Oct preshows here and there according to Jon last nite so. I am one happy camper and happy that i am getting hours at work and extra $$ to go to the fund now. :) Marla if you wanna go to any shows this time around (Pond show or Staples let me know)

Quote:
I think Ally doesnt like Lakisha.. dont fret girl. La Boobs will be gone next week.. i saw into my crystal balls... |
Quote:
Here comes the big "but" though.. "But" I just can't warm up to her song selections & stage style (LaBoobs!! Haha!:D ) something somewhere somehow tainted me, I admit it. I wish it didn't, but alas, it has. Bountiful, unsupported funbags in sexy, plunging tight satin may have contributed ever-so slightly. It's Idol, not amateur night at the Booby Bungalow off of the I-65 in Alabama. And yes, it does exist. Having said that, Blake has permission to perform topless. Yes, I'm sexist like that. :p |
Well, another week and its almost over!
I think it might possibly be Jordin and Blake at the final two. Which could possibly be entertaining, although I dont we have seen Blake belt out a song. Although I can be wrong. La Boobs will be gone next week. And I think Melinda might even get the boot too. which will be okay because out of all of them she has the best voice, which will get her major record kudos (i see her as oleda adams) she just needs more attitude. I love her, i think she is sweet, but simon was right a couple of weeks ago when he said she was too goody-goody! But Blake has the running power afterwards even if he doesnt win it! All the tween-twank cum MTV girl power will be buying his beat-box album and he will be on alot of those MTV-esque programs and who knows if he gets a good agent then he will probably be hooked up with scarlett-mischa-ashlee who and get some tabloid footage... Jordin, well, she is Jordin. She is very similar to Kelly Clarkson (whom I am not the biggest fan of) She will probably take the AI title this year, but will she triumph? Not sure! |
Interesting week ahead. LaKisha is the new Vote for the Worst pick, so she'll pick up a few votes from that forum, though not nearly as many as Sanjaya did. Jordin will pick up some from the mom contingent. Blake will pick up some by virtue of being the last white person standing.
I can't see the producers wanting Jordin to win. Of the remaining four, she's the one that sends off the least sparks as the possible second act highlight to the Tour. |
On another note.. all you Taylor Hicks fans can see him tonight at the "HOUSE OF BLUES" in west hollywood... I, myself will be at DL... watching tinkerbell fly off the matterhorn during the fireworks show...
|
Jordin? Bleaugh
Melinda? wow- love her! LaKisha? Loved her at the start- but now....not so much though I wish her success Blake? Meh whatever- |
1 Attachment(s)
Barry Gibb will be mentoring the final four. Im sure the 1 hour show will be dragged out. Lotsa banter btwn Miss Ryan and the kids and alot of behind the scenes Gibb action....
Even before seeing the show.. I predict LaBoobs is getting booted this week. I think the boy votes (chris & the alien) will be shifted to Blake's and I think Melinda and Jordin have fan bases already... |
American Idle!
I just can not get into it this season like i did last season...lmao at least i have one thing to look forward to Chris Daughtry opening for Bon Jovi. Out of all the Idol contestants last season Chris is one of my favs and for once look forward to an opening band by someone i can truely stand :)
|
Two song night.. (sounds like a band)
Now please dont think I am a fanatic.. I was watching the show last night, but I was also tending to a sick kitty, reading a book, and trying to learn how to play "SKip-Bo".... but i am so bored with the Idol... But I hope Melinda wins... Jordin was okay. Although she attempted to sing Barbara Streisand for her second song.. LaBoobs sang. Nothing too spectacular. I just dont feel like she should be on the show. Melinda. I love you, you looked great, you turned out both songs. You definetly have talent. Blake... Arrrggghh.. I have a feeling he might go tonight. Although I think he has the twink-tween-twank girly vote.. But please listen to Randy, stop trying to turn every song into that annoying beat-box noise... It was so annoying. Not to mention he picked a song that Barry Gibb said that didnt go anywhere for him when he first recorded it and that none of the judges knew. My predictions. Blake and LaBoobs in the final two. LaBoobs might be gone. I am assuming all the boy votes are going to Blake. |
Lakisha - LaBoobs is gone..
- Barry Gibb sang in last night's episode.. (damn, he looks real weathered!) - The Fantastic Four actors were sitting in the audience to promote their movie. Ryan was actually commenting on Jessica Alba's hair.. - Pink peformed. - The kids did a really horrific Barry Gibb, Bee-Gee's, Streisand medley.. it was ear exploding... - this is probably my last year I am watching this wreck.. |
Why wait until next year to stop watching?
|
LOL @ the whole "LaBoobs" nickname!
And, in the end, the three who I suspected would make the final three have all made it, so at this point, I don't really care who wins now...all three deserve to be up there! |

I don't think I'll ever stop watching AI. I always say that I will, but I always know that I won't. I have a strict honesty policy & honor code regarding singing contests.
I missed Wednesday's episode. I was in Newport Beach dining with family & friends! However, when I got back to my friend's place, I logged onto his computer to see who had gotten voted off. No more weekly boob viewings for me. :( Maybe I'll just watch AI topless. Okay, was it just me, or did Barry Gibb seem like he was totally blase and just completely inconvenienced by being a mentor? Oh, our apologies, Mr. Gibb! Shame on us for not realizing the BeeGees are in such high demand these days. Once your traveling County Fair schedule of performances clears, then can we count on you, Barry? Sheesh! ;) :p I dug Blake's obscure BeeGee song choice. I actually find myself humming it. Scary? Maybe. I still love Blake, though! He has such a 311 vibe to him when he's not beat-boxing his way through absolutely every song imaginable. I still think LaKisha is an amazing singer. I wish her nothing but success. However, now I'm splitting my votes between Blake & Jordin. Melinda is simply amazing as well, but I'm a Blake n' Jordin' gal! :) |
I like Blake, but I think last week he crossed the line into self parody. Melinda all the way. I guess.
|
Quote:
Once in awhile? Awesome. Every single time? Notsomuch. |

Well I agree on Barry Gibb.. I just felt he look like he was going to have a massive heart attack on stage when he was singing.. he looked like hell! |
One more week and its over... I am confused about who will be in the final two..
I think Jordan will be one of them. And I would prefer Melinda to be the second, she has the most talent out of all of them, but she lacks alot of personality. But she can sing for days... Blake has to go. However, unfortunately he might be getting all the little kid votes... Who knows? But Melinda is the only one who hasnt been in the bottom two, and neither was Taylor or Carrie Underwood... Does that mean that Melinda has a chance of winning? |
Urg. I'm under orders to watch tonight in case my mom is on the telly. She works in the office building behind where Blake was putting on his little concert. She went down there for the entertainment value. So, keep your eyes peeled - six rows back, Sephora side of the audience, red sweater, sun glasses, straight red hair.
|
I will wave to the tv....
|
Okay last night show was good.
- Please let Melinda win this show. She really kicked ass in three different types of songs. Jordin was okay. I think she has a career and will do well. She is so young. But she was not as good as Melinda. And now to Blake, surprisingly that one Maroon 5 song was cute. But Randy said it might be a all girl finale. We will see. I hope so. Otherwise its almost over... |
I promise to not watch the finale. I guess I should have wasted my time
Here is the next person to get booted off... Spoiler:
|
Unbelievable.
Well, maybe not unbelievable. But still wrong. |

My umpteen votes for Blake must have paid off!! :)
*ducking from the tomatoes getting thrown at me* :( Melinda's dismissal was shocking, but I admit I was kinda hopin' for a Blake & Jordin showdown! I must admit I really enjoyed the final three- it's a hard decision! However, I choose Blake. He makes me swoon like a schoolgirl. |

But what rattles me is that Melinda is actually really talented. But I am not sure if she has the aggressiveness to push for a big career.. Someone, hopefully Simon will mold her and produce her album... she will be great.. I see her singing with the likes of Alicia Keys, Aretha, Patti Labelle, etc... |
Aw, man! I'm lumped in with the tweeners and the knock-kneed penguins? Well, it wouldn't be the first time. ;) :D
I agree with you guys on Melinda. She is incredibly talented, and along with Jordin, she had the smoothest most powerful vocals on the show. I really like Simon, but he does need to pipe down. When I'm watching or voting, I'm most drawn to the person who's cd I might actually think to purchase. Not necessarily the best voice, but there's that extra something..some kind of "oomph!" factor that reels me in. Of course, don't listen to me- I voted for Justin Guarini. :D |

I'm sure Melinda will survive being voted off Idol. I expect her to maybe go the Jennifer Hudson route, and be a success in her own right. Just because you lose American Idol doesn't mean you stop being a success...as Chris Daughtry can tell you himself.
While I enjoy Blake and Jordin, I do have a soft spot for Jordin, and hope she wins it all...but if Blake ends up the victor, I won't be too disappointed. This is the best final three the show has had in a while. |
Jordin Vs. Blake...
Who the hell cares..I am looking forward to seeing Paula with her face all bandaged.. She tripped over Tulip, her small dog.. |

Yo! Ahh-ight, dudes...
I'm taking the time to post while scrambling to vote for Blake on all 3 busy phone numbers. Some observations tonight.... *The show was kinda sorta okay. This season at its lowest point still completely blows away last season. I found last season so blah! I can sum up this season's excitement in one word: Sanjaya. I swear I can still hear the wind crying his name outside my window at night..:p *I'm almost scared to vote for Blake! I think I might be a bad luck charm for Idol Contestants. Why? Because I voted for Justin Guarini. And Diana De Garmo. And Clay Aiken. And Katherine McPhee. Carrie Underwood was the only Idol that I voted for that actually won! *The Time Machine that Randy is using to travel back to 1989 is way effective- he scored a lovely jacket for tonight's episode. I mean, WTF?!?! I am all for freedom of expression & creativity in the form of fashion, but c'mon, Dawg. You might be the last remaining escapee from the Rythym Nation. I think I even had that jacket in High School, but with less chains. Props on his necklace, however. Back to dedicating all of my attention to my personal American Idol, Blake! :snap: |
Ok, I've now seen exactly one song from this season's American Idol so I feel perfectly qualified to make a selection.
Blake's first song tonight is the one I saw. I don't even know who he is competing against. But since he beatboxed and beatboxing is the world's third most annoying activity (behind Darfur and Elderhostel) I decree he should lose. |
I think the guy sucks. Jordin is good.
However, Idols ratings are down significantly thsi year, and I think that is due to the quality of the top ten being WAY down from the last couple of seasons. But, this is from someone who has maybe heard each singer in the last few season two or three times each. So what do I know? |

I voted for Clay, Fantasia and Bo. I'm not sure anymore if I voted for Katherine or Taylor; I didn't think either of them deserved to be in the finals. I thought tonight was pretty tepid. The special awful song was unusually awful. It certainly wasn't written with a man in mind. But, vote I must, so I'm voting for Jordin. Then, in another hour: Apolo or Joey? |
I didnt vote for either last night. The show was dreadful, it was boring and the i neither has star power... I am going to half assed-ly going to watch the finale tonight,, while i remote control my hearts delight to other stations. I am just waiting to see if they do the singing team-up's that they did last year....
And the song that was chosen was not really a powerful one.. it had some great lyrics.. but heh!!!! |
Well based on last night, tonight it'll be Jordan. The song choices just weren't there for Blake last night, he didn't 'own' bon jovi like his first time performance and the Song they both had to sing, Simon was dead on, Jordan wiped the floor with Blake which is kind of sad since I do think he is the better performer.
|
I didn't vote last night either. My wife, who had to miss the show, favors Blake, so we cancel each other out. The kids also favor Blake, but this isn't a democracy.
My next challenge will be avoiding getting hooked on "On the Lot." As opposed to "on the LoT." |
I'm safe from anything Tuesday nights because my obsession with Deadliest Catch has made me not give a damn about missing AI or any other deal that might come between me and some fishermen on the Bering Sea. And now they're adding a second show with the guys BSing in the bar after the season's over!
Oh, and um... I thought Blake should win because he has a more original sound than the others. Even if he does overdo the beatboxing. |

Strangler Lewis~ Haha! I am extremely girly, so maybe I'm just drawn to all things femme & estrogen-spiked? Actually, that's not true. I tend to vote for contestants that, if given the choice, I think I might actually purchase their CD. I never do (with the exception of Kelly Clarkson & Carrie Underwood) but that's my thought process. Taylor, Ruben, Fantasia & Clay with all due respect, are just not my cup o' tea. Especially Taylor! I was a Chris Daughtry fan last season! Speaking of Chris Daughtry, he was certainly sportin' plenty of eye make-up last night. He had smoldering, Cleopatra eyes. All he needed was the black bobbed hairdo & little crown. Oh, and those songs that they always have to sing on the finale, as their first single or release, are just so heinous. They totally remind me of a poor man's version of a crappy Diane Warren song. The lyrics were pretty on last night's song, but it seemed specifically taylor-made for Jordin. She has the vocal stylings needed to make that song sound beautiful. Poor Blake. That was just not his style! :( |
I just remember last year the both finalists having two different songs? or am i dreaming????
|
Ooh! Did they? I'm trying to remember..
Damn!! Now I need to know!! I just remember hearing Taylor's song non-stop on my old office radio (which was always set to KOST 103.5). All of those AI finale songs always celebrate their "moment". The lifetime wait, the struggle, their overdue time to shine. They should all just be forced to sing the Titanic song. It's basically in the same genre & I'd enjoy it more. Isn't that what it's all about? Making my selective ass happy? Okay, maybe not..:p |
If memory serves, last year they sang 3 different songs, this year the producers decided that they would each sing the winner from the song writers contest...the song was 'eh' but very slanted towards Jordans vocal style vs Blakes...he did the best he could but it just wasn't him.

American Idle!
Ally guess who i'm gonna be seeing live on Saturday before Bon Jovi at Tiger Jam? Chris Daughtry. Yup he is opening for Bon Jovi. I am excited since this is the first time i really want to be there in time to see him perform before my guys take the stage. :) I really loved him on Idol and am so glad i get the chance to see him live now :)
|
Oh, I'm so jealous & so excited for you at the same time!! :snap: :D I love Chris!! He made me swoon last season and I was so shocked & heartbroken when he was voted off!
I think he is so talented! You HAVE to give me details about the concert!! I'll be dying to know!! :) :snap: |
American Idle!

want to find out who won...
|
So this is Jordin's "now"...
Is it my lot in life to bring defeat to any Idol contestant that I root & vote for?!?! Carrie Underwood was the only one who escaped that curse when I voted & rooted for her! However, having said that, I was very excited for Jordin. She's a lovely & talented girl with such a vibrant "spark" to her (hardy har har). :D This Thread is so important to me that I'm actually posting on it when it's way past my bedtime. Some people dream of becoming American Idols. Others dream of posting on the American Idol Thread. :D I really enjoyed tonight's finale!! So much fun with mega-watt star power! Highlights? *Doug E. Fresh & Blake Lewis! How much fun was that?!? I loved that song when it was popular! If only I could remember the name of it! Anybody? *The girls looked so lovely in their white dresses! In fact, all of the fashions tonight were so beautiful! Kudos, stylists! The girls & boys looked stunning! *2 words: Gwen Stefani. I loved the song & the pink poofy golden bow dress! Gwen is like, one of my very favorites EVER. *All of the former Idols (sans Fantasia) reuniting and singing on stage together! :snap: *Kelly Clarkson has an amazing voice! I was very excited to see her perform on stage again! Lastly.. *Sanjaya. This is so unbelievably wrong, but with his hip trenchcoat and wind-blown locks, Sanjaya was one smokin' piece of ass. And I'm going to rot because biologically I'm old enough to be that boy's mother. And that breaks my heart for so many reasons. :( I can't wait to hear what y'all have to say! I'll have so much more to add tomorrow! Nighty-night, friends! :) Ooh! madmonkeygirl! I need to send you my cell phone number!!!! :D |
I didn't watch much, but I did catch Sanjaya. I thought his performance was better and more fun than last time because he played up being a rock star. The vocal was still weak, though. He doesn't have the power to walk and sing. I wonder if they paid that little girl more than her seats to embarrass her again.
Carrie sounded weird and weak. Like she had back spasms or something. |

Thanks for that insight... I was thinking more like she had some major beany del taco hours before and was feeling the stomach muscles screaming.. "Let me out, let me out!" LOL....:D |
Agree that Sanjaya had the same problem last night as always, he just didn't have the vocals to carry him and I am of the opinion that only vote for the worst kept him around as long as he was. As to the final vote wowzers on the numbers. I was disappointed but not surprised at the results. I won't claim that they are rigged but anyone else notice, the winner pattern tends to be boy girl boy girl? Be it that they slanted the song choice in favor of Jordan or just pure luck that "my now" song while on it's own is still just 'eh', it was as opposite of Blakes style as country week was.
The show last night was LONG and the golden Idols were at best 'tacky' ..... I don't even have words for the first one with the overaged, outrageously attired person. Then the best friend award where they inform him that they are officially sponsoring the little critter and they've named it Simon? Granted the boys had to agree to the humilation but still....tacky. |
American Idle!
Ok i did watch a bit of it during LOST (damn me for changing channels but changed back in the nick of time there). First off i'm glad i missed Sanjia (spelling there) thankfully i couldn't stand him at all anyways. I think this season there to me wasn't that great a talent as previous seasons. Sure the contestants can sing but to me it just wasn't amazing it was rather blah.
I guess when it comes down to it i knew Jordin was gonna win anyways. Plus i think i have Daughtry fever now. Only two more days til i see him in concert. Sorry but if i have to suffer thru an American Idol concert i want it to be Chris Daughtry that i'm sitting thru. :) Otherwise i wouldn't pay any money to see any of them. |
Wow!! In regards to Carrie Underwood's vocals, I was thinking that something was a little "off" my own self during her first performance. As the show progressed, I thought she sounded much better, but that first performance? Everytime she sung the word "you" it sounded a little.. "off".
The Golden Idol awards are pretty hokey. It reminds me of something they would hand out at a lame-o High School Senior Breakfast. You know, where the students & staff thinks it's pure hilarity and it's anything but. ~MS~ - I was thinking of the boy/girl ratio last night, too! The only time it's ever been broken was with Kelly Clarson & Fantasia Barrino, correct? Wasn't Fantasia season 2? It makes you wonder when Randy Jackson stated at the beginning of the season that he predicted a "curly haired girl" would win. That she did, Randy! I'll really miss AI now that it's in slumber until January 2008. My Grandma & I make watching AI our "together activity" and it always gives us so much to talk about. I thought this was an amazing season contrary to most everybody else! :) :snap: |
Ally, you and your grammy can just substitute so you think you can dance til AI comes back in Jan!
|
Ooh! Thank you for the suggestion, ~MS~!! :) Have you seen it? Is it a good show?
|

Umm.. Ally... how can you be a mother to a 17 year old if you're 25? That makes absolutely NO sense to me! ;) I do think that Sanjaya looked ok. That's it. Just ok. His bad singing annoys me, but B loves it  We were constantly butting heads about how "good" he is. She also loved Haley. heh... |
All right! Jordin won!!! She deserved that win! As for Blake, he finished a strong second, and I'm sure success will come to him as well.
And, Canadian Idol premieres June 5! All right! |
