Survivor tonight

Who cares?

Me! I do! Even after not particularly liking last season, I find myself anticipating this season. But maybe it's because everything else on the planet that I enjoy watching has been in repeats for so long that I'm just dying to see something worth watching on my Replay guide.

Moonliner 02-17-2005 02:57 PM

I'll be watching.

Here are my predictions for the first to be voted off:

Boby Jon: Hick name and likes to read the bible

Angie: She just screams outsider

Coby: An ex-con who's into Cosmetology. He'll make the other men
nervous.

As for the final two:

I'll go with Caryn and Ian.

mousepod 02-17-2005 03:04 PM

Yeah, I'm there too. Though I wish MB would run another Eco-Challenge on any network.

Not Afraid 02-17-2005 03:14 PM

First I was afraid, I was petrified
I didn't know how I was going to live without you by my side
but I spend so many nights thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong, and I learned how to get along............

Sorry. No other reference here.

(I did that from memory and now I'm scared!)

Claire 02-17-2005 03:22 PM

Greggers, I'll be happy to rehash the minutiae of every Survivor episode with you again!!! :D It's a HUGE event in our family tonight! The kids have been looking forward to it for months and months.....and months. It's our only family night TV show, so it's a big deal.

I'll be back tonight or tomorrow to piss and moan.....and then I'll do it again next week and the next week.....every single week for months. :p Wish I didn't have to be so addicted to this damn show. And I wish I could actually start liking some of the players again....maybe this season. Maybe.

Motorboat Cruiser 02-17-2005 03:25 PM

We'll be watching. Here's to hoping that this season is better. It does look like it could be interesting.

I'd heard somewhere that there is only going to be one tribe this time around. Anyone else heard that?

Betty 02-17-2005 03:32 PM

I read this on some website this morning - maybe cbsnews or ocregister. It's definately a spoiler though so don't read it unless you want part of it spoiled. You've been warned. :snap:

Spoiler:
They will all be put on a life boat and told to go to shore. The first man and the first woman will get immunity. They will stay as one tribe for a while and then the the two that one immunity will pick tribes. The last two picked are out of the game. But then on the radio I heard that 3 would be voted off tonight so there's definately more to it then that. Interesting to let them have maybe a night to get to know each other and then make them divide into teams. Should get them to strategizing right away.

Bullsh!t. You'd watch it even if you had tons of shows queued up. :p

I'm so in, and I hope this season is better than the last. :snap:

I didn't say I wouldn't watch it. But I don't think, after last season, I'd be quite as excited for it as I am if there were anything else to watch.

Scrooge McSam 02-17-2005 03:39 PM

I.CAN'T.WAIT!!

Tivo season pass already programmed!

Prudence 02-17-2005 07:27 PM

The VCR (I'm so outdated) is set and the spouse had better not mess with it while I'm stuck here in class. Tomorrow's one of the Fridays I have to work, so I won't get to watch until tomorrow evening. AH! A fabulous evening tomorrow watching Survivor and Apprentice.

Baileykat 02-17-2005 07:32 PM

Whoo hooo!

We are soooooo excited here at our house!

Kat and Bailey LOVE Survivor as much as I do!

We got Whataburger for dinner so we'll have NO interuptions!

Pssstttt....It's allready on here!

Very COOL beginning!

Nephythys 02-17-2005 07:42 PM

My heart hurts!!! and I have a knot in my stomach! That was PAINFUL!!!!

Watching those two tribes being chosen- knowing that feeling of waiting for your name to be called, watching people around you be chosen..and waiting....and being the last one left. ARGH!!!

I knew Wanda was gone- but I felt a little ill for poor Jonathan. Even though I wanted Willard to go through.

wahhhhh- hard to watch, but really good. I wish they had left the tribes together for a while longer though-

ahhhh- it's good to have this back!

Scrooge McSam 02-17-2005 07:45 PM

Wait! Has this new episode aired on the west coast yet?

Not Afraid 02-17-2005 07:45 PM

Should I watch it? Do you think this TV retart would "get" it? What time is it on? What channel? And, will someone call me?

Maybe I should just watch a DVD instead.;)

Scrooge McSam 02-17-2005 07:48 PM

It's CBS. I don't know what time it airs on the west coast. I get it at 7PM Central. Cas has seen it so I'm assuming Mountain time gets theirs at the same time.

MerryPrankster 02-17-2005 08:07 PM

It's on at 8 pm on the west coast. I never watch it, maybe I'll check it out tonight.

Nephythys 02-17-2005 08:09 PM

did I ruin something? I'm so sorry if I did- I didn't mean to! I didn't give it all away!!!

Scrooge McSam 02-17-2005 08:10 PM

It's killing me ;) But I won't talk about it until everybody's seen it.

Scrooge McSam 02-17-2005 08:11 PM

No no no I wouldn't worry, Cas.

€uroMeinke 02-17-2005 08:43 PM

I guess it'll be a quiet night on the boards then eh?

Not Afraid 02-17-2005 08:46 PM

Well, we should be able to tell what time it is on as the board will die.

Scrooge McSam 02-17-2005 08:47 PM

'bout another 13 minutes

Not Afraid 02-17-2005 08:52 PM

LOL.

I just finished eating the stir fry and pot stickers I prepared. Now, to get me off these boards. ;)

Oh, and figure out how to turn on CBS.

€uroMeinke 02-17-2005 09:16 PM

Hmmm, it's indeed lonely here tonight - even Not Afraid has left for the TV set. Perhaps I should join here and walk away from this Internet thing - if only till the next commercial break...

Nephythys 02-17-2005 09:31 PM

gah- you guys won't be back for 30 minutes!!! and I have to get up for work in the morning....wahhhhhh!!!!! I hope to check back in a while and see what you guys think.....

AHHHHHHH!!!! I hope it stays this cool!

Not Afraid 02-17-2005 09:43 PM

LOL! We're in the middle of the canoe race and Chris is cheering for the losing team yelling - YELLING - in our livingroom:

RAMING SPEED! RAM THE BOAT! FVCK THE RULES! WIN GODDAMNIT!

Is this such a good idea that we're watching this?

Scrooge McSam 02-17-2005 09:51 PM

One of us!
One of us!
One of us!

€uroMeinke 02-17-2005 10:05 PM

As long as the Goth Girl is in - I'm in.

But honestly, why didn't they sink that other boat and wail on their heads with their paddles. I mean, I've read Lord of the Flies - these tribes are way to civilized.

And what's with the no-butt spot? - If I'm going to watch this show, I want to see some gratuitous ass every now and then.

Not Afraid 02-17-2005 10:06 PM

Note to self: Watch Survivor in Thong.

Ha!

Never stand in a boat, singing Survivor based showtunes, in a hideous blue Granny dress while your fellow castaways row their hearts out!

It'll get you voted off everytime! Well...at least they won't pick you to stay!

Tom's my favorite! He's got that whole "older man" thing going on and he's a firefighter (that's uber sexy!) and he kicked booty in the challenge!

Scrooge McSam 02-17-2005 10:10 PM

HaHaHa ... and so it begins.

All I have to say is any team that picks Willard over Jonathan deserves to lose their fire.

Yep I'm ready for him to go down too.

And you're coming in loud and clear on the Tom thing ;)

Willard? Jonathan? you'll have to refer to people by their stereotypes if you expect me to play along.

Not Afraid 02-17-2005 10:23 PM

I just realized we're going to watch because of the gratuitious, albeit fuzzy, ass we're going to see.

mousepod 02-17-2005 10:45 PM

First thoughts:

glad that Angie (read: "Goth Chick" for €) wasn't voted off. It would have sucked to lose a freak and a geek in the first episode.

wasn't crazy about the dodgeball-esque team picks. too much identification from this nerd from new jersey.

fuzzed-out butts? thank you US Congress. MB has already stated (last season - post Janet Jackson) that the political climate of the US forces some major self-censorship.

Ghoulish Delight 02-17-2005 11:29 PM

My summay:

Tune in for the huge giant twist...only one tribe!!!!! until 10 minutes into the show

Tune in for the next huge giant twist...for the first time, 20 Survivors! Until 15 minutes into the show

Keep watching as the amazing, ginormous, earth shattering twist of having 2 tribes share the same beach unfolds in front of your eyes!!!! Until 30 minutes into the show

Lame.

Yay! NA and € are in! Awesomeness. <--word o' the month

I have to admit I'm rather glad they got more hunky guys this time around. Even though they suck, as the younger team always does. That older fireman ain't so bad either.

Sucks to be Jonathan - his status in the group was the same as the crazy old lady. Hehe.

Go Goth Chick Go! :D

But my favorite so far - the lanky guy that won immunity and headed up the older team. Cute, funny, glasses...mmm.

Robb was from a few seasons ago. He was a very young (19 I think) skater punk string bean kid...totally unattractive....and a total ass. Total fvcking crack up. :D

Motorboat Cruiser 02-18-2005 01:26 AM

Enjoyed it for the most part but GD makes a real good point about all these supposed interesting twists. Who the hell cares if they are history halfway through the first show. Now it is back to regular ol' Survivor. I'm cool with that, I just found the possibilities for conflict intriguing by having them all stay at the same camp.

Then €uroMeinke could at least get the bloodbath that he so obviously craves. :)

Scrooge McSam 02-18-2005 05:16 AM

I guess I'm not so turned off by all the pre-broadcast hype because I didn't watch any of it.

Nephythys 02-18-2005 06:03 AM

well- I enjoyed it.

And speaking of Robs....anyone going to watch Amazing Race? Boston Rob and Amber are in it-

NA & € should watch this--the camera man is much more likely to get smacked by Rob on the Amazing Race than on Survivor.

Claire 02-18-2005 08:36 AM

I'll be watching the Amazing Race.....I looooove my Boston Rob! I need me some Robfather, and Amber is just as conniving, so they'd make an AWESOME AR team!!

This Survivor? Two words (thanks, James): DUMB. ASS.

The singing lady.....ho-lee crap. The producers picked her JUST so she could get tossed in the first ten minutes of the show. Did they really think she'd be there for more than that? I highly doubt it. Cruel! I also think they chose James for the same reason. Figured he'd open his mouth, people would hear Old Tom's voice come out and they'd throw him back. But for some reason......they chose a young buck. Cruel irony. Oh well. He was extremely uninteresting looking. Blandola.

My crushes:
Greg....he reminds me of Steve from Sex & the City
Ian....I love scrawny nerdy guys bigtime
The firefighter.....his prematurely grey hair did it for me. And the accent.

There are no uber-hot girls this time! Whaddup? Wow. Some of them actually look to be over a size 2! They look like normal people again. Except the guys. Those are some crazy sets of abs. :snap: I'm not complaining. ;)

Claire 02-18-2005 08:38 AM

Oh, and shocker: I loooove Coby already. Although I was shocked he didn't pick Angie. She was really hurt. That sucked. But he's the most interesting "character" so far, to me. I'm sure I'll like someone else next week. ;)

Nephythys 02-18-2005 08:50 AM

Dumb ass????

I am not sure why it's dumb ass.....am I just out of this swanky loop?

Baileykat 02-18-2005 09:13 AM

I totally agree that it was really only "interesting" and "different" the first 20 minutes...then it's game on ..regular Survivor!

But it did totally suck that Koror lost their prize...I really felt for them!

Kat and I were hooked on the last Amazing Race...I still can't believe freakin whiney butt Kendra and what's his name won! Come on! We were soooo pulling for Kris and Jon who acutally liked each other the whole game and only lost it once! They were classy!

So of course we'll be watching this Amazing Race...Amber and Boston Rob...OF COURSE we'll be watching!

I read somewhere they are trying to re-vamp Survivor to keep up with The Amazing Race...apparently the last couple of Survivor's, the castaway's didn't suffer enough!

Neither did I. But it was the in-show hype that got me. All these amazing twists that looked so cool. More contestants, one tribe, 2 tribes on 1 beach. But absolutely nothing came of it. It was retarded, and obviously done JUST so they could throw it into the pre-broadcast hype. Lame.

It's Gregg. I hate him just for that.

I think it was a good move for Coby to not take Angie. Like he said, if he's not careful, he's going to be lumped with her as the "outcasts" and, well, be cast out.

I see what you mean. I guess I've just come to expect something like that at the beginning of every season. And they'll use the same kind of "weenie" usually somewhere in the middle of a season, as in "Be sure to watch the first 5 minutes - The entire game will change". Meh I don't even pay attention to that stuff any more.

Yuck, but what about his skin tone? You know he'll have cancer before the show is over. Now the tall black dude, he looks pretty hot - does he have a name?

Nephythys 02-18-2005 10:50 AM

the tall black dude is Ibraham. And his chest looks weird to me, he's so skinny, then those pecs just jump out. He has better breasts than some women I know.

Claire 02-18-2005 11:07 AM

Nephy....the "dumb ass" comment came from James at Tribal Council. For some reason it cracked us up. I'm trying hard not to like James, but dang those mouths from the south, they get me every time. The show....was okay. I didn't see any commercials for it, since I haven't watched CBS once since the last season of Survivor ended, but I'd read that there was supposed to be some twists....that I found not very twisty. Oh well. I'll still watch. ;)

I didn't notice anything wrong with the firefighter's skin tone..... But I didn't exactly catch his name either, so I must not be liking him too much.

And I THOUGHT Greg's name had two g's. But after the Robbbb thing....I refuse to add that second G. :D I reserve that right throughout the course of this thread.

Sorry babe - there have been physical altercations in previous seasons, and they always result in hefty punishments. No one wants out of the game. Bummer.

The southern accent really gets to me. And I really don't like that guy's look either. Yuck. He may be really likeable in person, but from the few minutes I got to see him, not so much.

I wonder what was so bad about Jonathan? As soon as they started scheming his name came up as on the chopping block. He must have doen something, or perhaps he's just not sociable.

Mousey Girl 02-18-2005 02:39 PM

I felt bad for Angie. Coby is not on my list of people that I want to see at the end. I know it is part of the game, but he totally bailed on her.

I was pleased about the results of TC. That woman was a bossy bitch.

You're far more likely to see someone get hurt than see T&A. You'll see blurs covering T&A though. ;) Oh, and there's usually some good bikini action, if you don't mind it being covered up.

We were wondering if he was the guy that jumped out of the boat in the beginning, hoping to beat the the rest of them to shore. That was about the dumbest move I have seen in a while. :)

The producers may have made them take the whole thing. But I agree that choosing to go to a new beach was idiotic. The work that was put into the shelter alone was worth staying.

Ghoulish Delight 02-25-2005 09:12 AM

Was it just us, or did they spend a LOT of time showing the challenges this week? Must have been nothing interesting happening on the beaches.

Moment of the week: "We're so glad we got rid of Jo. She was so bossy. We're not the follow the leader type, we don't need someone giving orders." cut to Hank Hill and palls standing in the alley holding beers. "Yup. Yup. Mmmmmhmm." Brilliant bit of editing.

Do you think the reward challenge setup fell pray to a "Robb Rule"? As in, "Okay, we want to have a challenge where people are knocked off bridges into water...but everyone must be outside of choking distance."

James is just maddening. Anyone want to start a pool for how many times he'll say, "Heeeell yeah!" next episode?

Scrooge McSam 02-25-2005 09:25 AM

And how 'bout my girl, Angie? Is she kicking butt or what?

€uroMeinke 02-25-2005 09:33 AM

Wait, was this show on again? I need remedial TV watching help.

Claire 02-25-2005 09:44 AM

"We're Americans. We're gonna do democracy!!"
~James

Oh my. I wish Kim would have been voted off--she looked worthless last night, but Ashley must have really wanted to go home, if even James voted for her. I thought it was cute that Ibreham wouldn't write her name down, no matter what. He's hot.

They barely showed the other tribe, except for the getting of the flint. I wanted more Greg(g) action. And who laughed like a crazy person when Coby bit it repeatedly in the competition....especially on the barrels, when he was getting all centered. We have the episode taped, so I'm going to watch it again....we kept rewinding and watching people fall off.

And go Angie!!! I hope she and Coby make it to the end and reunite. I love the idea of them hanging out and bitching together......

Ghoulish Delight 02-25-2005 09:48 AM

THAT was the line. "We're gonna do Democracy." Why did I suddenly feel like he was going to order a preemptive strike on Ulong?

Oh god, Coby's fall was a classic!

I think the immunity challenge was unfair. Afterall, Koro had trained for it all afternoon while dragging their flint up from the bottom of the ocean.

Claire 02-25-2005 10:00 AM

The second he twanged, "We're gonna do democracy!" We shouted, "Dude, it's freaking DUBYA!!!" We were dying. After the show was over we watched him say it like five times, then we watched Coby fall and Billy Bob Jon or whatever yell, "Get that aWAY from me!!" I'm not able to tell who he was yelling at....I can't see who swung the sand bag at him.....but it's hilarious to see him yell about it. :D Jeez, settle down little guy.

Motorboat Cruiser 02-25-2005 10:13 AM

Yeah, the falls were hilarious. We were laughing pretty hard last night. :)

It was nice to see Angie do well in the challenge. She really needed that.

Cadaverous Pallor 02-25-2005 10:27 AM

What everyone else said. :D Go Angie!

How do they come up with these challenges? Drag a box along the ocean floor? Brilliant. It sure looked hard to pull off, too.

I love it when the "young team" claims superiority off the bat due to strength, then loses a totally grueling challenge. Awesome. Seems to happen a lot on Survivor.

Heh, check this out - a teacher is retiring from the school I work at. She's a huge Survivor fan and always organized our betting pools. For her retirement party they're going to do a Survivor theme, complete with pre-recorded tribal council. We're going to vote her off the island, talk into a camera, the whole bit. Should be fun. :D

Moonliner 02-25-2005 04:17 PM

Anyone here ever thought about, or actually tried out for the show?

I can think of a few folks here that would add a bit of color to the cast of Survivor 11 or 12...

Moonliner 02-25-2005 04:23 PM

Being the survivor geek that I am, I watched the "survivor live" show today.

Interesting tidbits from the show:

1. After losing their flint, Koror marked the spot with a canteen tied to a weight. It made it easy to find the next day.

2. Ashlee esentially gave up and asked other members of the tribe to vote for her. She also voted for Jeff to ensure there was no tie. I wonder if she was the quitter that Jeff mentioned at the reunion show from the last series.

mousepod 02-25-2005 04:30 PM

Heather and I were amused by Angie. She has a t-shirt, yet most of the time she walks around in her thong and nipple-revealing bra. I wonder how she plays in Peoria?

My sister's fiance has sent in two applications and hilarious tapes.....one for the current season and one for the next. He's be SO perfect for the show. He's funny, laid back, seems cool but could totally scheme, and very outdoorsy. He's a HUGE fan of the show.

I know someone who married a guy who was chosen as an alternate for Survivor Outback.

That's all I got.

Mousey Girl 02-25-2005 11:24 PM

Bobby Jon could be fun to watch. He was downright pissy during the challenge. That boy has a temper on him.

Prudence 02-25-2005 11:45 PM

So far they're all fairly annoying. I miss Rupert. I'd like to see a bigger range of casting. And I'd like to see more than the token "old people".

I hope they have an opportunity to win some clothes, because her skimpy underwear isn't going to last for 39 days. All I can think is that she spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on those tattoos to sit in the sun and be in the saltwater for a month! I hope they have sunscreen off camera. (I was worried about Lex's tattoos also. That's just one of the first things they tell you is to minimize sun exposure.)

Not Afraid 02-26-2005 11:19 AM

No phone call. No IM. No Email. Do you people expect me to remember this on my own?

Moonliner 02-26-2005 01:14 PM

How about this for a theory....

You can predict who will go far in the game by how much camera time they get in the early episodes. The producers focus on the early booties so they get some camera time before they are gone and save the better players so they seem more freash to views later in the game.

Ghoulish Delight 02-26-2005 01:53 PM

The camera time axiom is only mostly true. There have been a few early boots of people with no face time (they must have just been really boring), and there have been people who get tons of early face time and make it far (usually the people who look like they're playing a terrible game but end up playing everyone, like Boston Rob).

Moonliner 02-27-2005 06:43 PM

What does he know and when does he know it?

Interesting.

I was re-watching last weeks episode. In that episode it sure looks like Host-Jeff (as opposed to player-jeff) was truly surprised about the loss of the flint. How much do you think Jeff knows about what goes on outside of the challenges? Based on that I wonder...

Baileykat 02-27-2005 07:55 PM

I noticed that as well. I was kinda shocked that HE looked shocked. I thought he knew everything that went on...or at least would have known something like that...but he did look genuinely suprised!

Still rooting for Tom! Go Tom!

Mousey Girl 03-03-2005 08:54 AM

Just a reminder that the show is on tonight.

Ghoulish Delight 03-03-2005 11:46 AM

Motorboat Cruiser 03-04-2005 01:38 AM

I'm surprised that nobody posted about tonights show yet.

First of all, major bummer in that I missed the first 20 minutes. I caught it from right after the rewards challenge. What I did see though, leads me to believe that fireman Tom is a strong contender (and a huge threat). He owned that Immunity challenge and doesn't seem to have any abrasiveness in his personality. I think he has the potential to go all the way, although he is going to be perceived as a big threat.

Mousey Girl 03-04-2005 07:01 AM

I agree. Tom is a force on the team. It cracks me up that they can win all of the immunity challenges, but have trouble with the rewards.

I would have liked to see Kim gone, she just bugs me. Angie made the comment that maybe now, without Jeff there, she might actually DO something. I doubt that she will though. She is totally clueless.

I also think that Jeff voted for James just to stir things up a bit. Now James is gonna be paranoid trying to figure out who voted for him.

Matterhorn Fan 03-04-2005 07:08 AM

Jeff probably voted for James in order to throw his vote away. If he'd voted for Kim, he would have risked her getting sent away instead of him.

Ghoulish Delight 03-04-2005 08:33 AM

From Ulong, Stephanie emerged as an interesting person to keep an eye on as she was the only chick to remain in the immunity challenge to the end. What a stud (even if they lost)!

And holy crap, Angie beat some ass in the reward challenge.

James quote of the night: "The only advantage a woman's got is her sexiality." (and no, that's not type, he said "sexiatlity")

MickeyLumbo 03-04-2005 09:19 AM

with jeff gone, i won't be running any red lights to make the top of the broadcast.

scaeagles 03-04-2005 09:22 AM

I thought it quite honorable of Jeff to "fall on his sword". I didn't get any self-pity type attitude from him - simply that he couldn't compete with his injury and therefore was going to hurt his team.

Angie is one tough chick.

These have been some seriously difficult challanges this time around.

Baileykat 03-04-2005 09:31 AM

SEX-I-ALITY! My new favorite word!

We all remarked how difficult the reward challenges have been...and how new they are. In the past, the challenges have been kinda recycled from past shows..these are a bit new...

Way to go Tom! He's the man!

I completely agree. He essentially gave up a chance at a million bucks to help his team. He must have been pretty damn sure that ankle wasn't going to heal anytime soon.

Stan4dSteph 03-04-2005 11:10 AM

I'm with you there BaileyKat. Tom is the man. Just goes to show how fit and strong firefighters are without being all buffed out like those other "pretty boys." I think Tom and Ian will do well. Both strong competitors, but Tom will definitely be a target once individual immunity is on the line.

jdramj 03-04-2005 11:11 AM

Well knowing my husband and his ankle, he can tell how bad it is right when he hurts it, he knows the feeling of the injury that will keep him down for a long time. He's done this way too many times. Although he kept looking at Jeff's ankle and saying "that doesn't look that bad, mine has been worse".

The thing I don't get is they had all that material and he didn't try to wrap it up or anything. If he was afraid to watse matrial, then why not long leaves and rope? It might have helped him to do that right away. If he was so up on his ankle, why did he not support it the second it happened and put his shoes on? They kept showing him walking around barefoot.

Moonliner 03-04-2005 11:50 AM

First Ashlee and now Jeff. The last two members "voted" off survivor essentially quit the game. I guess that explains host-jeff's rather vexed comment he made at the award show about no quitters needing to apply for the next season of survivor or do you think there is more?

Baileykat 03-10-2005 07:45 PM

bumpity bump bump bump!

Very cool challenges tonight...I won't spoil it since you guys watch it later than I do!

MickeyLumbo 03-10-2005 09:05 PM

guess i'll watch it

even though the hot guys are gone

oh well

ps: let the news be spread, gay guys are buff and "worked out" and kick redneck hetero butt. LOL hairdressers whoop ass!

Mousey Girl 03-11-2005 09:06 AM

Has a single team ever lost this many challenges so quickly?

There seem to be more of the hand-to-hand challenges this season. If there are any Ulong members left by the merge, this could come back to haunt them.

Yes. I remember a season where a tribe started off by losing the first 7 challenges in a row. At least Ulong's got a couple reward wins under their belt.

I swear, I hope James makes it all the way, just so I can keep hearing him talk.

You know, I like James, but Tom was the better of the redneck hicks. I can understand too much of what James says, and half of what Tom said was incomprehensible.

My wife and I were wondering how a steel worker redneck will be razzed by his buddies for losing twice to a homosexual hairdresser. I will say Coby did surprise me quite a bit - not because he's homosexual, but because he doesn't look very strong or in very good shape.

But Tom would never say "sexiality".

He doen'st look exactly in shape, but it looked like he was a head taller than James and had like 100 pounds on him. Not a guarantee in Sumo as smarts and strategy can easily overcome size...but this is James. Smarts and strategy?

Baileykat 03-11-2005 09:58 AM

I can't believe the stupid girls on Ulong! I would have kept Kim just cause she's a girl..and let the boys know it's not over yet!!! Come on!!!!! DO you honestly think they are going to keep you Angie?

Bobby Jon's got some massive pent up anger building there...hmmm!

And I really would have liked to have heard the reasoning behind why Koror won the reward challenge over Ulong...even though I was glad Koror won!

Seems like they are starting to get a little snitty about Tom though....Please oh please keep Tom!

The thing is, all they would have had is a tie. And NO ONE'S risked a tie since the "rock pulling" episode. No one. That was what, 6 seasons ago? It's too risky. I don't even remember the mechanism, all I remember is that someone who was even being voted for at that tribal council got the axe thanks to the random rock draw. Since then, it seems to have become an unwritten rule, you don't risk a tie. And I don't blame 'em. In their shoes, I'd take a guarantee of 3 more day over even the slightest chance that someone would pull my name name out of a hat, or whatever the tie breaker is.

mousepod 03-11-2005 10:52 AM

If I were on one of the tribes, I would certainly not build my shower inches away from the toilet. Not sure if that's why Koror won the challenge, but it sure makes sense to me.
What struck me last night was the comment that Willard made about Tom and Ian going out of their way to publically compliment every member of the tribe every day. That's good management. Smart.

That was just one comment from one person, and it was the not so likable chick with a bit of a chip on her shoulder. And her comment was that everyone else follows Tom diligently. I wouldnt' worry about him getting booted - he's a tremendous boon to the team and a good guy to boot. I'm really glad he and the young, tall, skinny leader guy (what's his name?) get along. A power struggle is always the ugliest. Have to say I'm rooting for the skinny kid. So cute, sweet, and geeky, just how I like 'em. ;)

Mousey Girl 03-11-2005 02:09 PM

Karen will go before Tom. She seems to be jealous that he gets so much respect when she gets none.

Part of the reward judging, Jesse was not able to move the Koror facilities when he shook them, with Ulong they didn't seem very sturdy. I also thought the Koror facilities were better made. They didn't offer up as much privacy but they used more wood. Also with Ulong's you had to worry about being knocked on the head.

BK, I said the same thing about Bobby Jon earlier, after one of the first challenges. That boy is going to go postal if he doesn't get booted first.

Motorboat Cruiser 03-11-2005 06:08 PM

Didn't surprise me at all to see Kim go. When are people going to realize that sitting around being lazy is a very dangerous strategy. You don't have to be Superworker, but you better be doing something to stay under the radar. The only peron I can think of that didn't do much work and yet went all the way was Amber. And that was only because of her strong alliance with Rob.

I'm liking the challenges a lot more this season than last.

Cadaverous Pallor 03-11-2005 06:30 PM

Bobby Jon is a total hoot to watch. I hope he yells more like he did at the other challenge. Nut job and a half.

Claire 03-11-2005 07:16 PM

I think James should keep his day job. He sucks ass at prophesizing. I wonder of prophesizing is a word......oops wrong thread.

I just watched the tape from last night and I'm rolling! I so dislike him! Glad Kim is gone....what a loser! She couldn't even pretend to work?? Ugh! All of them--Jeff, the other chick and Kim? Ugh! Loser tribe!

Not Afraid 03-11-2005 07:31 PM

You know, I watched it once, was DEATHLY ill for the second (and got PISSED at Chris for watching it and not paying attention to meeeeeeeeeeeeeee) and now I am out of the loop.

But, at least we know I'm a bitch.

Oh, did we already know that? ;)

Claire 03-11-2005 07:37 PM

I was ROLLING at Coby kicking James' ass, too. What a funny match-up.
