Cut me open!

Yeah it's minor surgery, but still... a hernia repair tomorrow afternoon.

I'm having a big bowl of soup right now because I'm not supposed to eat after midnight. I can have a cup of coffee before 9:00 in the morning.

I go in at 2:00 and I'm scheduled to be out around 5:00.

It's going to be a long day.

Ugh, why can't they schedule you in the morning so at least you can sleep through most of the fasting :(

cirquelover 04-09-2007 01:07 AM

Ick. Surgery sucks, recovery sucks more, but here's hoping the end result is exactly what you need.

I believe surgeries require a certain amount if no-eat time, so if the surgery had been in the mornining, he wouldn't have been able to eat solid food on Sunday afternoon/evening.

Cadaverous Pallor 04-09-2007 10:13 AM

Best wishes Ron! May your recovery include lots of time messing around online.

Ah, hernias.

My dad's had a double hernia repair.

My brother, as a toddler, had a double hernia repair.

And I, when I was 11, had a double hernia repair.

Thanks for the weak groin muscles, Dad!

I was mortified because I was an underdeveloped pre-teen and my parents wisely chose a cadre of male doctors to look after me. Never mind that I cried in shame the first time I had to drop my pants in front of them.

And when I awoke from the surgery, there were two bandages cut to look like hearts glued to my groin area. This only confirmed my worst fears about the doctors noticing that I was a girl. Yeah, I know. They're doctors. Of COURSE they noticed. But did they have to notice notice?

Good luck!

sleepyjeff 04-09-2007 03:33 PM

Good luck Ron. Hope it all goes well, which I am sure it will unless you're having it done at Good Sam(I am kidding, It's a fine hospital):)

Strangler Lewis 04-09-2007 03:34 PM

Hope all goes well.

LSPoorEeyorick 04-09-2007 04:11 PM

It would be interesting to see those scars. Would it be rude of me to ask you to pull down your pants the next time I see you?

Speedy recovery!!

BDBopper 04-09-2007 06:41 PM

Best of luck to you. Get Well Soon.

Well, everything went according to plan. The Kaiser staff was great and efficient and both procedures were done in about two hours! I checked in just before 2:00 and was out and home shortly after 5:00!

I'm moving about very gingerly right now. I have vicodin and frozen peas and my daughter is staying the night to take care of dad. I'm loaded up with books and DVDs. I'm home from work for two weeks and I'm sure by next week I'll be going stir crazy.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and mojo. I'm sure I'll be glad when all is said and done.

see you at the zoo

Great news! I'm glad you're home recovering and doing well. Take care, rest and enjoy having your little girl around to take care of the old man for the night.

Wow, that's some strong Vicodin if it freezes your peas! :D

I'm glad everything went well, Ron. My daugter just went through it (she had no problem dropping her drawers for the Dr. however  ).

Abd I went through pretty major surgery last year. I hope your healing goes well! And take it easy and heal before trying to do anything heavy!

sleepyjeff 04-09-2007 11:03 PM

That's great news Ron.....you'll be up and wandering around the Zoo in no time.

CrazyLegs 04-09-2007 11:40 PM

I hope all is well :)

Great news! Enjoy your rest, enjoy the DVDs & books. I hope your daughter continues to spoil you on a regular basis.

As for going stir crazy, look at this 2 week period as a golden opportunity to catch up and read every single post on LoT.
