I think Rooney is part Maine Coon, but he's not as fluffy as your average Maine Coon and he was rescued when he was a wee one. but he's only 1 month older than Pele and just HUGE!!!

Munchkin loves to shove our feet if they're dangling off the couch. It seems to be a combination of "Get the hell out of my way...but pay attention to me while you do so."

We have one of our cats that if either Susan or I have our arms crossed, that she will head butt our arms until we uncross them.

I'm pretty lucky that he seems to be head butting in a loving way, accompanied with purrs and "kneading."

I think I may have to go snuggle with him right now.

Thurston thought the baby beagle was so adorable that he joined in the howl.

Be still my heart, that is so beyond cute and into perfect! Arrrroooooooooooo!

All I have are a few rats, 3 of which have developed an annoying habit of nipping at my elbow if I am not petting them enough. I blame Baby Smurfles (AKA Bitey Smurf). She has taught the 2 youngest all sorts of bad things, including how to be a paranoid schizo.


On a sad side, our oldest, Squiggles, the last of the April Fool's babies, died. She would have been 3 on 04/01/08. Now we have 2 others with tumors. Sweetness has one in a mammary gland near a hind leg and Hollywog's is behind a front arm.

Are Designer Breeds Going to Far?

In the quest to fulfill the ever increasing demand for more exotic designer dog breeds, some puppy mills have decided to take things into the inter-species realm. By mating a dingo with a wild goose, breeders are hoping to create the worlds best watchdog. If results are as expected, the puppies will be meaner than your average junkyard dog. Michael Vick is said to be behind this latest experiment.

Things are so screwed up in Perth, Australia, that kangaroos carry adult ducks in their pouches.

IMO, whoever did that should be shot.

That is pretty normal for a squirrel to do. They go foraging for acorns and other nuts, and collect them in their cheek to bring back to their lair - usually for storage for later consumption.

i dont know about you, but they dont look like nuts to me.

I saw the cutest bunnies at a petshop yesterday. I was going to take pictures and send them to GD and CP, but it was too dark. Some of them were standing on their hind legs. Cute. I just wanted to hold them and squeeze them they were so cute.

Our cat, a bit more than three years ago. Considerably less cute now (though still an attractive cat):

I have seriously thought about (and I know Susan would go for it in a heartbeat), but we seriously don't have the space. We took in another cat (four now) and that fourth cat doesn't like other cats, so she gets locked in the office. It just wouldn't be fair to either the cats or the pug (not to mention Susan and I) to bring one in.

Well, that and the fact that we aren't supposed to have any more than two cats per our lease :blush:

One of the joys of my job is seeing things a lot of people don't get to. Monday the zoo was closed due to snow and ice on the paths. Even if we're open, not that many people come in this weather. They miss seeing animals in the snow!

Are those Timber Wolves? They're really beautiful. Even more beautiful after seeing a scraggly coyote this morning.

The SF Zoo is magical (and deserted) in the rain.

One of the best Zoo experiences I've ever had was on a cold, crisp day at the Lincoln Park zoo in Chicago. ALL of the cats were active and magnificent - and scary.

I must remember this, I've not been to the SF Zoo in decades!

Going to the new Steinhart over Xmas (with massive crowds) and I hope to have cool pics to share.

This is what my dogs looked like playing in the snow last week. (These aren't actually my dogs-- but what a fun video)

Our Standard Poodle, Stitch thinks snow is the greatest thing ever invented...he tucks his butt under and races around the yard as fast as he can. Big fun! :D

In London we were in an Underground station (though this station was not underground) that was the beginning of the line for one train. It was sitting there, nearly empty, with its doors open waiting to depart for several minutes. A pigeon walked on board and started hunting around for food. CP and I were hoping to see it get trapped inside when the train departed.

The "doors closing" tone sounded, and the pigeon immediately hopped off the train on cue. Yup, been there before.

Yes, especially in the way he quickens his pace after he grabs the goods. (Or is this a she? Can anyone tell?)

The obstacle course is awesome! If you're not working for a paycheck, I think that seems like a fine thing to do 20 times a day. Yummy treats at the end of a little workout, what's not to love?
