Beachy!

I know we're talking about Camping Swanking... While that's all fun and good, does anyone else have an interest in some Beach Swanking? Perhaps a bonfire?

innerSpaceman 05-03-2007 10:17 PM

We should have a Memorial Day Weekend Beach Party Bonfire with Bingo?

Does anyone have any access to wood pallets? Beach bonfires are kinda useless without them.

Locally, only Dockweiler Beach near LAX allows fires. I think there's also somewhere in South O.C.

I'm definitely in for some beach swanking as soon as the weather permits.

Morrigoon 05-03-2007 10:29 PM

We did that one 4th of July in HB with a fire ring.

Sounds like fun, but I don't know if I can go (dad's coming to town for his birthday weekend)

Ghoulish Delight 05-03-2007 10:38 PM

I love just about everything that goes on at a beach...but damnit I hate sand. But the fun to be had is tempting.

CoasterMatt 05-03-2007 10:42 PM

There's a poi (fire dancing) class/gathering that goes on from time to time at Dockweilier... :D

Imagine me, swinging cups of FIRE around on chains :)

blueerica 05-03-2007 11:14 PM

Sadly, I will be out of town for Memorial Day.

Perhaps a non-holiday weekend... Hell, it can be any time during the summer, and I'm 97.3% sure I can supply all the wood needed.

That just sounds dirty.

I'm just thinking simple, beach fun... from late afternoon to evening. Mmm... Marshmallows, friends, no stress.

I've been dying for something like that.

MouseWife 05-03-2007 11:20 PM

I also have been wanting a beach/bonfire.

The time is passing for sitting cozily by the fireplace and time to sit out and watch the sun set and the moon come up {damn, tonight was a beauty}.

Alas, I am thinking about waaaay down south...and, I don't have a truck anymore for pallets.

Even though I wouldn't be there, I totally agree, the time is very close for a nice beach party.

blueerica 05-03-2007 11:25 PM

Well, I am in Huntington Beach, and we do have bonfire availability just a scant 2 minutes from me, if you could make it up... you'd be very welcome and have a guaranteed fun time (or your money back!)

Why, Thank you!!!

I will keep myself posted to this thread and see what swanky things transpire. ;0)

We have plans for Memorial Day weekend. But otherwise sounds like fun.

BarTopDancer 05-04-2007 08:45 AM

oooooo I love the beach. Already been about 6 times this year.

Not that you could tell by my coloring.

Not Afraid 05-04-2007 09:31 AM

I'm up for it, but Mem Day is usually bad for me.

blueerica 05-04-2007 10:41 AM

So, Memorial Day is totally out for a lot of people. Plus, I'd have been bummed my idea got done while I was out of town anyway.

Any random-assed weekends that people are available? And, should we do it before or after camping? I'll pick a date and we can see what we can do around that, perhaps?

P.S. I don't want this to be an extravaganza. No one should have to work hard. Bring something simple, if you want, like salsa and chips or soda, you know...

Cadaverous Pallor 05-04-2007 11:01 AM

I am firmly in the "no extravaganza" frame of mind. :) Throw a frizbee, swim a bit, get a tan, play a game of cards, eat....hell yeah.

mousepod 05-04-2007 11:04 AM

I'm sorry I haven't been participating in these planning threads. I've been working so hard to plan our move down, the probabilty of joining these swankings during our probable "transition time" is highly unlikely, but if anything, the activity on the board is making us more excited to get down there.

It was so great to see some of you last weekend. I can't wait to be able to join in for real.

Sorry for the slight derail. I was just overcome with excitement.

Not Afraid 05-04-2007 11:28 AM

My schedule is always in flux, so pick a date and I'll see what transpires. But, I'm all for the lose planning thing. I need a break from planning at the moment (except for camping).

blueerica 05-04-2007 11:50 AM

OK, I'll put something out there in the next week or so.
