Prayers for a family

As I had mentioned before in discussing my esophagus health issue, the surgeon who performed my first surgery in April 2005 was diagnosed with cancer several months afterwards, and finally lost the lengthy battle yesterday afternoon.

He leaves behind a lovely wife, a 21 year old daughter, a 19 year old son, and a 15 year old son.

Thank you, Dr. Jim Magary, for the difference you made in my life.

Wow, amazing how one life can touch another so deeply, and then vanish so quickly.

What a shame this talented person had to be taken away from us.

My condolences to his family, those who were touched by him and to those who will never benefit from him.

How sad. Definitely, sending some healing thoughts to the family.

That is sad. My prayers go out.

Very sad. :(

Very sad, indeed. The human body is a cruel trickster.

Condolences to his family. :(

I'm so sorry to hear that. My deepest condolences to his loved ones.

I'm sorry, Scaeagles. As much as we complain about doctors thinking they are superhuman, I think in some level we think they are as well and it seems a bit shocking when they succumb to the same ills us ordinary humans do. I'll never forget when the surgeon who had labored long and hard over several months and many operations to save my mom's life came in to see us after one of her surgeries. He was exhausted but happy to report that he thought she might pull through, and then related his own unfolding drama with his father's poor health and how concerned he was that he might not make it. It really made me see him on a human level and it made me aware that he knew exactly how we were feeling.

Your doc sounds like a good man. My prayers go out to his family as well.

Thank you for sharing, and my prayers go out to his family. My children are about the same age (22 & 19), and I know it would be very hard for my family if I went.
