Saline Solution Recalled; also, Heidi bemoans the universe
Urgent warning to anyone who uses AMO Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose Solution for their contact lenses. It is being recalled because they've found a higher instance of Acanthamoeba Keratosis in the users. It's resistant to most drugs and it can cause blindness.
http://www.kare11.com/news/national/...storyid=255313 And now for the fun part of the story-- my eye doctor gave me that very saline solution to use with the too-small contacts that lacerated my left eye. I've had an eye infection since the day I put them in (only wore them one day) and my doctor is not sure why the regular-old-eye-infection is not healing. Well. It's because it might not be just a regular-old-eye-infection. It might be an AMOEBA IN MY EYE. Yes, yes, thanks, universe. I fly out for my wedding in three days and just now discover that there might be an AMOEBA IN MY EYE. Grrrrreeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaat. I have to spend tomorrow being pin-balled (doctor's words) around the city to various eye specialists to make sure. Doc says it may or may not be, and since it's so early if it IS so, there's a good chance it'll be healed. It just means I'll have to wear glasses at my wedding. Two weeks ago the idea made me miserable. Now I'd be content just to avoid blindness. |
Egads! Well, I hope wearing the glasses is as serious as it gets!
I figure something always goes wrong for the wedding day. You've now had your problem. That means everything else will go exactly as planned, if not better! |
Well, that puts the "me with a zit on my bit date" commercials in perspective.
Hope all works out. Glasses or no glasses, you'll have a beautiful day. |
For what it's worth, you're gorgeous with your glasses on.
Sorry to hear about this aggravation. As said above, I hope this is the only downturn in an otherwise flawless month. |
Hope for the best for you!!
It's always something but I know you'll get thru it!! |
Oh that's crappy. But don't let it get you down - you'll look beautiful with or without glasses.
By the way, my Dad recommended I use Optifree by Alcon as a substitute. |
Yikes, well I hope wearing glasses is as bad as it gets. Expect good thoughts and mojo from this household hoping you're better real soon.
|
Oh my. Here's wishing for a happy outcome.
|
Oh goodness! Well I'll send you amoeba fightin' vibes. B and I also hope for a positive outcome!
|
All the best Heidi - I am sure it will all work out.
|
Well, I'd say "keep an eye out for anything fishy..." but that's probably just tacky. ;)
Love you, and hope your eye doesn't get any worse. You'll look great at your wedding, no matter what! |
I think your glasses look great, and fingers and toesies crossed on a most positive outcome to the infection! You'll be the most beautiful and smart looking bride in town, missy!
|
I agree~ I think you look great in your glasses. I think, if you want, you can take them off during pictures. Some with, some without. They are part of your personality, I think. {as I feel mine are for me}
And, positive thoughts that everything else comes out alright. |
It won't matter if you have to wear your glasses. You'll be the beautiful bride marrying the man of your dreams and nothing can change that - glasses or no glasses.

Aw, thanks, all. I've long-since made my peace with being a glasses-bride, so at this point my frustration is that I'm about to leave and instead of, say, being able to tie everything up at work, or spend the planned time for packing, I have to spend much of that time in doctors' offices. Bad timing! Already stressed enough at work and with prep for leaving-- just one more stress on my already chicken-fried brain. But I guess life is a series of one more stress we don't need. Alas. Wish me luck, I have an appointment early tomorrow AM.

Yeesh! Good luck and happy, healthy eyeballs!
