Mean people suck...

My day has had a horrific start, someone decided to delibrately run over and kill my cat. It was so obvious I actually called the police. There are tire tracks in the neighbors yard and they burned out nicely when they left, scattering gravel everywhere. They literally had to leave the road to run her over!! Of course no one saw anything, but the neighbor is 80+, so I'm not surprised.
No, I did not expect the police to do anything. I just wanted them to know it had happened and that it looked like a delibrate act.

She was such a good girl. Her name was Squeakers because she couldn't meow but she squeaked. She was a beautiful jet black kitty and she was the best mouser I have ever had. The neighbor used to let her in his garage just to get rid of the mice for him. She always left me the tails

I am afraid next time it will be a child. They even took away the crossing gaurd for kids after school. The cars zip through the school zone like it was a freeway! The new houses seem to be full of kids in the little hopped up cars that refuse to go anywhere near 20mph in a school zone!

Thanks for listening. I just needed to vent:(

Tref 06-04-2007 11:41 AM

My God, I am so sorry. That is awful.

Disneyphile 06-04-2007 11:42 AM

OMG.

I am in utter shock, and I feel so horrible. I can't even begin to express my condolences to you.

People like that are lower than scum. And, I'll pray that they are caught before any more lives can be taken.

Hugs to you. May Squeakers always be there, watching over you.

Snowflake 06-04-2007 11:42 AM

Oh Man.........:( :( :( My sincerest condolences to you Cirquelover and poor Squeakers. :(

I'm just convinced, people like that need not inhabit the earth, please go away, now.

I'm glad you called the police, but I am ever so sorry for your loss. :( (insert weeping icon here)

Capt Jack 06-04-2007 11:43 AM

this truly sucks. Im very sorry for your loss, especially in such a way.

:(

Im a firm believer in kharma and that sort of thing calls down a sh!t storm of bad juju on you. know they'll get theirs.

Ghoulish Delight 06-04-2007 11:43 AM

:( That's horrible. "Mean" doesn't even begin to cover my feelings toward any sub-human individual who would do such a thing.

BarTopDancer 06-04-2007 11:50 AM

kitty :(

katiesue 06-04-2007 11:54 AM

Oh my - I'm so sorry.

AllyOops! 06-04-2007 11:56 AM

Oh my, I can't even..there are no words powerful enough to express my utmost heartfelt sympathies. I feel so sick..how can such cruel & wicked people exist in this world?? Why?? How?? I wish I could erase this for you, cirquelover. I wish I could bring Squeakers back to you. Holy moly, I'm tearing up. I'm so very, very sorry. :( :(

Motorboat Cruiser 06-04-2007 11:57 AM

I'm so sorry for your loss. :(

I can't even fathom why someone would do such a thing. God, that really sucks.

JWBear 06-04-2007 11:59 AM

That's horrible! <<HUGS>>

flippyshark 06-04-2007 12:00 PM

Wow, that is horrifying and sad. That wasn't mean behaviour, it was evil. Please accept my sincere condolences form one kitty-loving heart to another.

Gn2Dlnd 06-04-2007 12:05 PM

Maybe the local ASPCA or like-minded agency would be interested in pressuring the cops to track down these jerks. There may have been similar incidents in the area.

I'm so sorry.

DreadPirateRoberts 06-04-2007 12:12 PM

:( I'm sorry

wendybeth 06-04-2007 12:12 PM

I'm so sorry, Cirque! :(

When I was around 8 years old, we had a neighbor who was just a mean bastard. He would threaten the kids in the neighborhood if they walked on his lawn, etc. One day we were all outside playing, and our dog Boots was sitting on the sidewalk watching us. This asshole came roaring up the street in his new truck, then deliberately swerved and ran over our dog. When the police went to his house he told them our dog ran out in front of his truck. Since it was just a bunch of kids against an adult the police couldn't do anything, but when the guy's truck was found keyed, tires slashed and with a gas tank full of sugar the police really weren't all that interested in finding out who did it. He moved shortly thereafter.

Strangler Lewis 06-04-2007 12:13 PM

As stated above, that goes well beyond mean. I'm sorry about your cat.

Our local school had the police come out every one in a while and ticket the speeders who, at least during school hours, were probably mostly parents. But that's fine. Unfortunately, the police presence is not an every day thing.

alphabassettgrrl 06-04-2007 12:14 PM

**hugs** My kitty's black, too, and a good mouser.

Stupid people. I'm sorry.

If he had been my neighbor, he would have found his new truck a smoldering pile of scrap.

mousepod 06-04-2007 12:22 PM

I am so sorry to hear that.
Stories like this make me so angry.... I am beside myself right now.

Brigitte 06-04-2007 12:49 PM

That's horrible! I had to read that twice for it to sink in. Hopefully your day gets better!

Kevy Baby 06-04-2007 12:56 PM

I have no words. I am just stunned (and shedding a few tears). I do not understand behavior like this (well, I do in a psychological explanation, but right now that don't mean shyt to me).

My heart breaks with yours.

Gemini Cricket 06-04-2007 01:16 PM

That f*cking sucks. Bastards. I hope karma kicks them back.
Hang in there, cirque.
:(

cirquelover 06-04-2007 01:35 PM

Thank you for all the kind words! We, the 86yr old neighbor and I, dug her up a nice spot and he cut some of his roses for her. He actually put a vase in my backyard full of roses!
All the other cats are in mourning. I feel so bad for her brother, he's the only one left of the litter.

Of course a poor abondoned pregnant cat showed up at my house so we will have babies soon. More kitties to find homes for, but at least I can get the Mom fixed before she has more!

I'm so glad I believe in Kharma so I know somehow, someway they will get theirs!

That they will, where I spit no grass grows, so they're marked, bastards.

You get your good karma too, a new mom kitty who will get some TLC and get fixed and prolly a new kitten that may have a distinctive squeak to worm it's way into your heart.

Your neighbor is wonderful, that's totally sweet. :snap:

Not Afraid 06-04-2007 02:05 PM

That's so incredibly terrible on so many levels! I'm horrified that someone even decided to do this on purpose. Poor Squeekers! And, what a bunch of assholes (there had to be more than one person in the car). I'm so sorry this happened to you.

Nephythys 06-04-2007 03:16 PM

Sick bastards....pure and simple.

I'm so sorry! I'm going to hug my kitties in honor of Squeakers tonight. :(

Morrigoon 06-04-2007 03:45 PM

I feel violated, and it wasn't even my cat! Poor kitty. That really really sucks. What kind of sociopath would kill living things for amusement?

Disneykat 06-04-2007 03:49 PM

I am so sorry to hear about your kitty :( People are so terribly mean and nasty

Drince88 06-04-2007 05:20 PM

I'm so sorry to hear about your little Squeakers.

:( :( :(

€uroMeinke 06-04-2007 05:39 PM

Horrific doesn't even begin to describe it - It's sad that such people are out there.

Not Afraid 06-04-2007 06:23 PM

So, mean people suck but so do mean dogs. I have three unruly dogs I walk 3x a week. I have to walk them all separately becaue there is not way anyone can handle them together. Today, I was leaving to walk the first of them when the other two broke out of the garage as I had the gate open. (I confine 2 there while I walk the other.) The two that were off leash got out, ran down the street and one killed a cat. I'm completely traumatized.

CoasterMatt 06-04-2007 06:28 PM

Despite all the jokes I make about doing bad things to kitties, nothing tears my heart up like this sort of thing - What cruel beasts!

Kevy Baby 06-04-2007 06:46 PM

The dogs I can forgive - it is their nature. It is sad, but forgivable.

What the OP described - unforgivable by me.

(And I do not mean to take anything away from the pain that Lisa is experiencing. I am just still pissed at CL's experience.)

Cadaverous Pallor 06-04-2007 06:47 PM

Oh Lisa, I'm so sorry. :(

mousepod 06-04-2007 06:50 PM

Lisa - that is horrible.

I can't read this thread anymore --- it's freaking me out - and these things aren't happening to me. I can't imagine how terrible NA and cirquelover must feel right now.

Not Afraid 06-04-2007 06:55 PM

The cat was a stray that the neighbor was feeding and getting close to so he could capture her and have her spayed. She was pregnant.

That sounds awful. Just reading this, it's tempting to repeat cirquelover's observation about the idiots in the cars that next time it will be a kid. I'm not sure I'd want that gig.

blueerica 06-04-2007 08:56 PM

Ugh...

I'm sorry sorry, Cirque - Squeakers sounds like a personality. Plus, anything with the name Squeakers has to be pretty awesome. What a horrible, horrible thing to have happened.

What worries me about this sort of thing are the links between animal cruelty and human cruelty. Not to diminish what happened to poor Squeakers, but what this person/these people could do in the future might be even worse - what he/she/they might be doing now could be even worse. I shudder to think. Utah just enacted a law that makes it pretty easy to prosecute acts of animal cruelty, particularly because of the implications such an act poses. I don't know if/what other states have in regards to that.

I agree with Gn2Dlnd said - contact to ASPCA or another animal advocacy organization and see what they have to say. He's right, there may be other incidents of such cruelty.

Again, I'm so sorry for Squeakers. :(

Prudence 06-04-2007 09:02 PM

What as sad thread. What horrifying people, and what unfortunate dogs. I'm just so sorry for both of you, cirque and NA. I think my kitties will get extra lap time tonight.

CoasterMatt 06-04-2007 09:07 PM

Our kitties seem to be in mourning... only Jovi has really shown herself tonight.
Each of feline and canine kids is getting extra hugs tonight.

Perle 06-04-2007 09:15 PM

I'm so sorry NA. That must have been horrible to see.

wendybeth 06-04-2007 10:12 PM

That had to have been so horrifying, NA. I'm so sorry, for you, Cirque, the kitties....I mean, crapola- what an utterly ****ty day for animals and animal lovers, eh? Yesterday, Tori's good friend Emily (an adorable little sprite of a girl that Tori has known since their Deaf preschool days) got attacked by a dog. Poor Em is terrified of dogs anyway, so this is a major problem on a lot of levels. I've already assured her mom that we will lock our pooches up during Tori's b-day party. (Em's okay, just a bit scratched up).

I don't mean to keep putting my own experiences in this, but I can relate one instance where the cat actually came out ahead: Our Burmese tough guy Yogi was one totally cool, laid back cat. Rarely meowed, and then only once- if he failed to get your attention with that one meow, then you deserved the claw treatment he delivered. Back then we let our cats wander the 'hood, and Yogi loved to prowl in the neighbor's yards. About two blocks from our house there lived a large sheepdog named Bozo, a well-known cat killer. One day I was walking home from school and I saw Yogi meandering through Bozo's yard. Bozo came roaring out like a freight train, but when he got up to Yogi the cat just sort of latched himself onto the dog's face, kicking hard with his back legs and biting for all he was worth. Bozo ran off yelping, and Yogi coolly sauntered away.

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 06-04-2007 11:09 PM

So terrible - sorry for your loss. :(

Oh NA, I am so sorry. I can't blame you having witnessed something so horrible. {{HUGS}} :(

My little Tango got major TLC last night, not that she doesn't already, but we snuggled a lot.

Score one for the kitties! This is a happy thought in a very sad, heartbreaking thread.

Jughead P. Jones 06-05-2007 07:31 AM

Oh my god...

I am SO sorry for the loss of your cat. And, I certainly hope those spineless, evil, black-hearted people that did this get what's coming to them.
