Your Disney Treasures Go Here

Okay, compared to most, I'm totally small spuds.

Thanks to a tip from BossRadio ( ), I recently received this (and I'm excited about it, too)

Capt Jack 06-04-2007 02:44 PM

as one of the lowest level DG's here (dis-geeks)...I have to ask.

what is it?

Mary Blairiffic 06-04-2007 04:06 PM

:snap: Ooooooooooh. That is awesomeness personified.

mousepod 06-04-2007 04:14 PM

Very nice!

Is that a British poster? I noticed the little rating triangle..

Snowflake 06-05-2007 09:21 AM

It's from Australia and is a 1962 Fantasia reissue poster, a "Daybill" similar in size to a US poster called an "insert." The US version is the same art and sells for a whole lot more than I ended up paying for it. I've long wanted some art on this film and, sadly, I just can't afford to spring for vintage 1940 art, so this makes me happy.

RStar 06-05-2007 09:22 AM

Coolness, man!

Capt Jack 06-05-2007 09:24 AM

very cool. nice score.

lashbear 06-05-2007 01:19 PM

That's the one from my local cinema.... give it back !! :p

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 06-05-2007 01:22 PM

That's awesome - I have many posters from working at the theatre, but this is so very, very cool. I do have the anniversary re-release poster of Fantasia - it is beautiful!!

Okay -- these posters may just qualify you as The Coolest Human Being on the Planet. Wow! Do you find most of these on eBay? Private collections?

Not Afraid 06-06-2007 09:39 AM

Boss Radio is an ebay whore - and very good at it!

I think my favorite Disney Treasures are the music files I have of Disneyland attractions on my iTunes.
:)

Kevy Baby 06-06-2007 12:57 PM

Our favorite Disney Treasure is not ours yet. Someone must die first. And I don't see that happening for a while.

Though we have threatened to knock her off.

Gemini Cricket 06-06-2007 12:58 PM

Intriguing...

Not Afraid 06-06-2007 12:59 PM

I know. I know.

I'm scared that Kevy wants Lindsay Lohan's corpse. I'll bet if she dries out she'll be perfectly fine alive (though you'd have to feed her).

You know the guy that follows Lindsay Lohan around with sawdust to absorb her puke? I wonder how much me makes...

:D

It is one of the original AA Tiki birds - her father was an Imagineer who worked on the attraction.

It was funny with the 50th. She was looking at some opening day photos and saw herself in one of the photos standing next to Walt (she was about 5 at the time).

blueerica 06-06-2007 03:31 PM

I should take pictures of some of my favorite Disney items...

Cool story! Is it still in working condition?

The friend is still working pretty good. I am not sure about the AA.

Snowflake 06-07-2007 09:32 AM

Oh! I want this window card from the 1960's reissue of Fantasia.

Querying BossRadio here, is this a good price? I only know from Valentino memoriabilia what is a good price. A 1 sheet is also up for $265, but I'm partial to the WC for the size (ease of framing and display).

Consumed with lust.

Boss Radio 06-07-2007 06:04 PM

Wayyyyy too high. For a 1970 Window card, I can probably find you one for $25-$40 range.

Email me.

I did and thanks BR! :snap:

Here's hoping for a good result, I'm hoping to work at this backwards, if I keep buying Fantasia reissues, eventually I will work backwards and find something afforable from the 1940 release.

I've been trying to score some of the Fantasia Vernon Kilns dinnerware, but, dayum, that is also really hard to find and when you do, expensive!

NickO'Time 06-08-2007 09:50 AM

I found this at a yard sale. The owner had placed it in a plastic card to protect it. It's a water decal. It has instructions on the back for how to apply it still. Probably doesn't have too much value.

Send an email to the gentleman at http://toonsatwar.blogspot.com/

he might know more info on your decal.

DisneyDave 06-08-2007 05:13 PM

Thanks for the plug. I believe the insignia was designed for the unit when they served in Korea. I think a small stash of these decals were found about a year or so ago because they flooded onto eBay all at once. I value the decal at around $10 just because it is quite common.

RStar 06-15-2007 04:51 PM

That's a great decal, even if it is pretty common right now.

CrazyLegs 07-14-2007 01:55 AM

Stupid me, I should have emailed first about it.

well now thats just silly. I've never understood why people try to sell things they dont actually have in front of them.

(yeah, its happened to me too)

Kevy Baby 11-08-2007 09:02 PM

I wonder how many times when they "can't find it" it is actually that they already sold it in some other way.

I called and confirmed it was in stock and just ordered this:

Attachment 280

My first piece of Disney concept artwork. Can't wait to get it matted and framed over my desk!

Okay, so I really did want the Chernabog, but $2800 I can't do (and I know mousepod wants it, too, so he has first crack at it)

:D excited!

Ponine 11-13-2007 05:47 PM

dare I ask how close to 2800 they are asking for that LOVELY piece of work?
(and really, I love it, and only another disgeek will know what it is, which I also love)

You mean, how much for what I just purchased?

Ponine, it was dirt cheap, I got a total steal, with tax & shipping $100!
It will cost me more to frame it, probably! :)

Ponine 11-13-2007 08:47 PM

Oh that IS a total steal... and an original!!!
the piece that people who are not in the know, will walk into the house and think... wow... thats... an odd piece of art. Little line shapes on paper, wonder why she bought that?
And the cool people will say,Where did you get that? Is it real? Can I touch it???

I LOVE things like that.

Prudence 11-13-2007 08:59 PM

I could guess what it is, but I'm not sure. :(

Attachment 282

This one I'm very tempted by but $300

Attachment 283

This is a new Chernabog ($1250)

Attachment 284

This is an Awesome Chernabog I misspoke ($2500)

Attachment 285

Link to all the cool Fantasia art is here and loads more!

Kevy Baby 11-13-2007 11:03 PM

I know OUR Chernabog can be had for a lot less than $2500!

Not Afraid 11-13-2007 11:06 PM

OMG! Buy the other $75.oo one!

CoasterMatt 11-13-2007 11:07 PM

NA, I just did.

They have two of the bridge and strings, but, not before Xmas.

These two drawings are my Xmas gift to me.

Snowflake 11-19-2007 01:39 PM

The 2 drawings arrived and I'm thrilled. Very cool things to have, much larger in size tha I expected and framing will be interesting since the images are not dead center of the paper. Good thing I have a big hunk O wall that is empty over my desk.

Now to get them framed.

Not Afraid 11-19-2007 01:42 PM

You could do an interesting matting job with an off-center image.

Snowflake 11-19-2007 01:44 PM

Oh, and one has initials on the lower right, near the drawing number. Don't know if that is the artist's initials or now, but alas, it's not WED.....
