Happy Hitching Day, LSPE and Tom!

Okay, so I'm jumping the gun a little bit by starting this the day before, but I wanted them to have a moment to hopefully see our well-wishes (and for us to get them up here) before they get swept up in the ceremonial madness about to ensue!

HAPPY HITCHING DAY YOU TWO! Let the opening credits roll! :coffee: :cakes: :babette: :argghh: (okay, technically the pirate neither is nor resembles cake, but it required posting. Something about a union contract....)

flippyshark 06-08-2007 05:43 PM

I'll second that, and, in their honor, I'm going to watch Harold and Maude projected on my living room wall tomorrow night and think of them.

Congratulations and may you enjoy a life of exceeding richness together!

Gemini Cricket 06-08-2007 06:14 PM

Heidi and Tom,

"Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved."

~ Wm. Shakespeare

All the best to you both.
Here's to new ventures, adventures and the wonders that await you.

Cheers,
Brad

There is no way at all that I can express, within the confines of this medium, how happy I am for the two of you. I also cannot possibly describe the conviction behind my belief that you two were made for each other.

Your love only enriches those around you - we are blessed to know you. Blessings abound in all directions!

Best wishes in all things,

Yay Heidi and Tom! (Did you ever notice that once you name a couple a certain way, it sounds odd to think of it the other way around? "Tom and Heidi"... nope... just like "Maude and Harold" just sounds weird).

May your first child be a masculine child.

My excitement for you both knows no bounds.

I came in from a gig at 3:00 this morning and jumped online and, lo and behold, Heidi was as well. She said that she felt nothing but happiness and excitement and that everything was going great.

By now, they should just about be married.

I said it this morning but I'll say it again here.

I can't put into words how happy I am for two of the sweetest people I think I have ever met. I wish you all of the joy it is possible to wish on two people and hope that everything went flawlessly.

Congratulations to the both of you. We love you. :)

Cake for Heidi and Tom last night at the cemetery!

Not Afraid 06-10-2007 11:51 AM

Congratulations you two!!! We DID have our own celebration at the Cemetery complete with celebratory drinks, a toast and the cake pictures above. The woman at the bakery thought we were quite bizzare, celebrating a wedding at a cemetery (not to mention watching a movie there). CREEPY was all she kept saying.

Enjoy Italy. We expect a flood of pictures when you return.

LSPoorEeyorick 06-12-2007 10:39 AM

Hi guys... posting from a computer in London/Heathrow airport. The wedding and weekend was beautiful and moving, and we are so happy. Everything we could have hoped for and more. Full report from us later, and possibly from EH too.

Unfortunately, that wonderful weekend ate all of our karma up and all of our flights have been miserably delayed, keeping us in the airport for the entirety of the last two days. I don't want to jinx us but right now it looks like we may be able to get on a plane to Rome tonight-- two days late. Arrrgh. We're trying to stay positive and we know once we get there it'll all work out!

We loved all of your comments, btw-- but we just ran from one thing to the next (and this is the first time we've really been able to sit down at a computer. All thanks to flight delays, heh.) Wish you all could have been with us this weekend-- it was truly wonderful.

Love from Heidi and Tom

I've been swamped at work since my return from Weeding Weekend Fun, so I haven't had the time to compose a proper report. It WAS wonderful and lovely. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have something posted, with a few pics (albeit rather blurry) as well.

Belated congrats!

I hope you've made it to Rome and are having a wonderful time, eating wonderful food, etc.

Have safe travels and safe, hassle-free flights back home, too!

How come when I do my weeding it's never fun?? :( I also never take pictures, either, because it's just me in a straw hat and pink crocs with gardening gloves frowning in every single frame. This is why I now have gardeners.

;) :p

Eliza H.!! I can't wait to read your trip report & see your pictures! I'm sure you all looked so beautiful! :)

Heidi & Tom!! You are honeymooning in Rome! Wow!! Am I jealous much in the happiest way possible? You bet! I've always wanted to visit Rome & see the Vatican!! I would love to attend Mass there, too!! :)

Now, if it isn't too much trouble, can you please make sure to tell Pope Benedict I said "whazzup, dawg"? Also, if he could drop me a comment on my myspace page, that would be bitchen'. Oh, and also ask if he can make pre-marital sex not only okay, but a new rule. Thanks!

;) :p

LSPoorEeyorick 06-14-2007 02:23 PM

Buongiorno! We are running out of net time quickly, bah!!

Made it to Capri finally after catching that flight... spent a quick night at a hotel near the Roma airport, and then caught an early train to Naples, and a ferry to Capri. It is BEAUTIFUL here!! We are having so much fun. Spent a day wandering around Capri and Anacapri, window shopping and eating gelato (bad Tom!) and other incredible food. Were in Pompei for the bulk of today, and made it to all of the big sites. No lions ate this Christian at the amphitheater but several stray dogs decided I was the pied piper. Tom is happier than a clam among the ruins. Looks a bit like Indiana Jones, if I do say so myself. Tom would like to state that he did not know that a clam among the ruins would be so happy. We love you all. This morning he said "I want to bring LoT here." I heartily agree.

Until next internet cafe...
Love,
Tom and Heidi

Morrigoon 06-14-2007 02:51 PM

Oooh! Definitely try the "Melone" flavor (Cantaloupe... trust me on this one!)

Capri... awesome!

Ghoulish Delight 06-14-2007 02:55 PM

Will you be spending any time in Sorrento? Had one of our best meals (and by far the best bread) of our entire 2 weeks whirlwind tour of Italy in Sorrento. I'll have to dig up the restaurant name. Better yet, I wonder if I can dredge up the name of the bar we went to there. Heck of a rum and coke.

Kevy Baby 06-14-2007 04:02 PM

Are there any McDonald's there?

€uroMeinke 06-14-2007 07:38 PM

"The Isle of Capri" is now playing in my brain and I am smiling for you two.

Disneyphile 06-14-2007 07:40 PM

What the hell are you doing posting? Off with you! You're supposed to be spending every free moment exploring Italy and/or each other. It's your honeymoon! :p

We can hear all about those explorations when you get back.

I want to join them, except that might not be welcome on their honeymoon.

Kink-Y!

LSPoorEeyorick 06-20-2007 10:08 AM

1) Hi from Florence. We didn't have any computer access in Venice.

2) Yes, DP, we ARE taking every spare moment to explore Italy and each other! But one runs out of energy after climbing bridges and falling into and out of boats and enjoying the frequent... how you say... Tom says "gelato" is a good euphemism here.... and at around 10 PM (the time we've generally been posting) all we have energy to do is stumble into the computer room at the hotel. ;)

3) Oddly enough, Morri, melone was the first flavor we tried. But not the last. Heh.

4) GD, Sorrento was on our way to all of the ruin-exploring day-trips we took from Capri. It was lovely, you're right!

5) Kevy. No. McDonald's!

6) Lisa, we've definitely been planning the future-LoT-in-Italy trip as we go along. Do we have some doozies for you. But please, don't come on our honeymoon. We're keeping our... gelato... to ourselves.

Love to you all from Firenze.

blueerica 06-20-2007 10:10 AM

Visible miss you mojo!

Ghoulish Delight 06-20-2007 10:14 AM

mmm, gelato.

My legs hurt just thinking about how much of Florence we crammed into a day and a half. It's the most stunning city I've ever seen, I'm thoroughly jealous right now.

This sentence seems vaguely obscene.

"Vaguely Obscene" is my middle name.

SacTown Chronic 06-20-2007 10:28 AM

Ghoulish Vaguely Obscene Girthy Delight? What a mouthful.

Ghoulish Delight 06-20-2007 10:29 AM

"What a mouthful" is...oh forget it.

Not Afraid 06-20-2007 11:36 AM

Watch some Italian TV. I'm not kidding. A game show called "Corpo Grosso" is worth turning it on for (if it still exists).

Ghoulish Delight 06-20-2007 11:38 AM

Doesn't that mean Fat Body?

Not Afraid 06-20-2007 03:17 PM

I believe it does. but the show is all about half naked women dressed as fruit that the contestants have to pick from - sort of like a slot machine concept.

LSPoorEeyorick 06-22-2007 12:18 PM

We have been totally into the Italian TV in the wee hours of the night when we've collapsed in a heap from running around and trying to see as much as possible in the limited time we have. With the travel days in between cities, we end up with about 2-3 days per... and it is surprising just how much one can cram into those days. We've hit every major site and museum in each of the towns (plus a lot of lovely restaurants. Tuscan olive oil-- OMG) It's totally been one of those great trips that we can figure out how we fit it all in.

Rife, rife with innuendo Italy is.

On a side note, we seem to have lost some of our English as we continue to attempt to speak as much Italian as possible. (Yay, Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, for your Italian for Tourists course.) Anyway, Tom left our Florentine room to head to the shared bathroom (this, of all our hotels, is the earthiest) and on the way out he said "I go room shower now." It's a good thing we're taking copious notes about our experiences but waiting to journal about them until our return, because, geez, words, they are not working so well!

David took our breath away today and we feel as though we might be ruined as art-viewers forever. We'll see how long that lasts-- we're off to Rome tomorrow and something tells me Michaelangelo's other great work will surprise us too.

Oh, and Kevin, while waiting for our reservation time to see the David today, we ended up stopping into McDonald's for Coke and air conditioned seating. It was filled with, surprisingly, few tourists. It was also nice to see that their portions are much smaller than the American ones.

We may or may not have access to computers in Rome... but I assure you that massive trip journaling and an Incomparably Large Collection of Digital Photos We Took On Our New Digital Camera (It Rocks!) will accompany.

Ciao for now!

You're going to see Moses while in Rome, right? RIGHT? David's nice. But Moses...
San Pietro in Vincoli. It's a few blocks north of the Colosseum, tucked into a tiny square off Via Eudossiana. While every other monument in the city was packed with people there were maybe 10 others in this basilica with us, viewing the most stunning work of sculpture I have ever seen.

And LSPE, I agree with GD. Please, if you can... see Moses.
I may never see either in person, but would pick Moses over David.

I cant wait to view the "Incomparably Large Collection of Digital Photos" hopefully with some personal narration!

blueerica 06-22-2007 03:05 PM

That's funny about the language thing. Upon returning from three weeks in Spain I had the stomach flu. Since there was one seat away from the group and I was totally out of it I sat away from everywhere else. A ham and cheese sandwich was given for lunch, and though I didn't think I could keep any down, in a delirious state I asked for mustard. Except it was in Spanish. And I was flying Swiss Air - the stewardess really wasn't all that great in English!

She looked at me funny, I looked at her funny, then I asked her for mustard. I ate my sandwich and quickly ran to the restroom. Didn't work out as nicely as I'd planned.

I'm glad you're having so much fun and I'm glad your English is getting screwed up... probably means you're spending at least a little time thinking in Italian!
