Monroe v. Chewbacca

I read this and wanted to visit Hollywood & Highland in the hopes of seeing fights break out among the characters

Quote:

On Sunday, a Marilyn Monroe look-alike called the cops on a Chewbacca character, reports and Elmo say.
Officers took a battery complaint from a Monroe impersonator Sunday at the Hollywood & Highland complex, the outdoor Hollywood mall that serves as home base for the Oscars, LAPD officer April Harding said on Monday.

There was a big feud between Elmo and Cookie Monster - both terrible costumes, that ended up in arrests.

mousepod 07-10-2007 08:03 PM

Darn! I thought the story was going to be about Chewie battling James Monroe...

CoasterMatt 07-10-2007 08:04 PM

I love to hop on the Red Line just to see the freak show at Hollywood/Highland

Alex 07-10-2007 08:05 PM

**** mousepod, I was going to say the exact same thing. Get out of my geek jokes!

blueerica 07-10-2007 08:12 PM

I'm guessing he was in about 1/4 of the heads here. It's exactly what I was thinking when I opened this.

Not Afraid 07-10-2007 08:17 PM

I was thinking of cats. Monroe is a grey and white Polydactyl and Chewbacca is a giant orange Persian. Chewie would win.

Heheh, James Monroe vs. Chewie was my first thought, too.

But, hey, I'll be at the Chinese Theater tomorrow night (for Harry Potter 5). Maybe I'll see SpiderMan vs. Miss Piggy.

JWBear 07-10-2007 10:49 PM

I'd put my bet on Miss Piggy...

Thank god I wasn't the only one.

Morrigoon 07-10-2007 11:28 PM

Wow, clearly a fight between a dead ex-president and Chewbacca is a more popular concept than a dead ex-sex symbol versus same ill-tempered hairy biped.

My friend once saw Elmo put in handcuffs up against a police car when she worked near there. Unfortunately, she didn't have a camera at the time.

Capt Jack 07-11-2007 08:12 AM

ok, the tips alone just cant be good enough to make someone do that, can they?

innerSpaceman 07-11-2007 08:23 AM

Yes, they are. Competition is, shall we say, fierce.

Mousey Girl 07-11-2007 09:06 AM

The only characters we saw were Wolverine and Storm. She looked so bad. Everyone was staring at her and no one paid attention to him (including me).

I would, too, if it were the same Spiderman I saw there last time. His outfit was worse than Toby Maguire's first costume attempt in the first movie.

Two of my friends are Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. They used to be the official Stan & Ollie at Universal until the higher-ups (dumber-downs) decided none of the guests knew who these characters were. Plus, they just looked stupid on an ATC.

Paul and Beavis drive the other costumed panhandlers crazy because they don't bully tourists for money. I'm thinking of taking Teddy Roosevelt up there just to see what happens. "Look mommy! It's James Monroe! And he's got a light-saber!"
