We're in - luckily the only date in fall the rest of my team can make it.

BarTopDancer 07-23-2007 09:14 AM

There is a 5pm game. Checking with my partners in crime.

Mousey Girl 07-23-2007 09:33 AM

Boy and I will be around the Resort that weekend...no MA for us, but we will be around.

Alex 07-23-2007 09:37 AM

There was absolutely no venue availability in November.

Prudence 07-23-2007 11:04 AM

Yay! Not a weekend of potential moot courtness. (This, of course, means that I'm not advancing. Only if they were at the same time would I be going on.)

Not Afraid 07-23-2007 11:30 AM

Poor Chris is sick and asleep. Meanwhile, we've come up with a team, a team name and hats.

I guess we're in.

Fall MouseAdventure -- October 14, 2007

Looks like CM and i are out. That is our wedding anniversary weekend. We have other plans.

Mousey Girl 07-23-2007 12:30 PM

If there is anything fun going on the night before, please let me know. We will be staying at DLH Friday and Saturday nights. We would both love to see as many of our friends as possible. He keeps bugging me about when we are going to see everyone again (he is worried that I am becoming a hermit again).

More details in this morning's DL Park Update.

BarTopDancer 07-30-2007 08:13 AM

$75 per team? HOLY COW! That's crazy - and more expensive then the first Invitational.

innerSpaceman 07-30-2007 08:22 AM

Yeah, so I'm reading that thinking the price hike is because of the "dessert mixer" .... but that's an EXTRA twenty bucks.

Jeebus!

It would be one thing if having the pre and post at the Paradise Pier didn't COMPLETELY SUCK.

Ha, right, as if we've ever backed down from a challenge. I'm kinda annoyed that we were told one date was possible and then Alex says it was not a possible date, but hey, I'm not the one organizing this madness, so I can't judge, really.

I wonder if there'll ever be a point where the massiveness of the event will outpace the price spikes by Disney and we'll see the fee plateau.

I wouldn't use the word "completely"...place for everyone to sit, air conditioning, microphones. Yep, that's the full list of Pros.

As always, subject to change without notice. And I seem to recall hearing shortly after the at-event announcement that they learned that early November was probably out, so I'm none too surprised

For us 2 player teams, the current pricing scheme sucks hard. They used to charge per player. Back when it was $15 per player, a team of 4 was spending $60, while we were spending $30. Now that it's $75/team, a team of 2 has to pay twice as much as before, while a team of 4 only spends 25% more.

I think we're priced out.

katiesue 07-30-2007 09:11 AM

We're in. I think Swanie would sell a kid if the price got too high :)

It is a lot but it also our get away hang out weekend so for us, still doable. A movie tickets around $10 so for our team it's not much more than a movie and popcorn/soda.

They did announce shortly after the last one that the November dates were out with Disney.

Really? It's only $18.75 each for a 4 person team. I'm sure there's someone you guys can pick up if you need more players.

BarTopDancer 07-30-2007 10:16 AM

We'll have 4 players. The $75 is a lot for this event regardless of how it is broken down - more of value for the dollar than actual money money.

BarTopDancer 07-30-2007 03:00 PM

Well it looks like the Shiny Happy People are in. Not sure if we'll have a new name or not. And AVP posted about the price increase.

Pricing for MouseAdventure has frequently been a less-than-scientific "what did we charge last time? Oh, we're adding XYZ to this event, so we need to raise registration a few bucks." This time we took a hard look at what MouseAdventure actually costs to run, and realized that we needed to adjust our fees accordingly. Lanyards, video screens, color printing - producing MouseAdventure is a lot more involved than it used to be.

We still feel that MouseAdventure is a fantastic value at this price, and we're all looking forward to the event.

Well, when you have 3 running around...I seriously doubt I would miss one. :D

As katiesue said, MA weekend has really become a "getaway" weekend now that Mr. Swanie is playing too. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think the pricing is that bad. The fact that I get a weekend away with the hubby and Katiesue, no kids, get to hang out at the DLR, and I can compete against and hang out with a bunch of people we all know is really a blast. IMHO, paying $50 for the pair of us to have an "excuse" to be big kids for the weekend is a small price to pay.

Yes, but it's not more fun than it used to be. In fact, I'd say the things that have caused the price increases are the very things that make the game less fun.

And by that I mean the removal of the start and end of the proceedings from anything remotely smelling of Disneyland.

I guess it's true that staying within the Park or at the other two hotels that might seem more Disneylandish would be even more expensive.

It's a good thing my team faux-plays for free, or we'd have a rotten choice to make. The price is hovering at the point where I'd hesitate to sanction it with my purchase.

I'm not blaming MouseAdventure for this. From what I understand, the blame is all Disney's. But the end result is a less good experience for a much higher price.

Basically, I think Disney is extorting money from MouseAdventure and other such events. If the participants are not a disturbance to other guests, then they should be allowed playtime in whatever fashion they choose inside the parks. If they are a disturbance to other guests, they should not be able to BUY a waiver that allows them to disrupt the experience of other guests for a certain price.

Bah and Double BAH.

Prudence 07-30-2007 09:56 PM

For us, it's an excuse for a vacation we wouldn't otherwise take. And we do want to come play again... So, we'll come down a few days early, engage in frivolity, then play MA, then go home.

Might get a room in PPH this time, to save money and for easy proximity to post MA showers. Hmmm....we could rent out shower time after the game....

Huh? When it's an Invitational it hits us, a 2 person couple team, the hardest. But for you, specifically, it doesn't cost a penny over $18.75. I think that's "value for the dollar".

Bitch bitch bitch, iSm....Disney is evil. Period, end of statement, can't fight facts. E-V-I-L. You want to play in their yard, you wear whatever shackles they want you to wear, you dance whatever two-step they name. MA can't go back in the box. I've gotten over that. I got over it when we lost the picnic area. It sucks, we all know that, but it's a fact, jack.

Please don't tell me what my perception of value is. I feel that $75 for a team is high regardless of how many team members are on it. Yes. We can split it 2-4 ways. So can you. By adding 2 people you reduce your cost too. But you choose to have a 2 person team. Your choices effect your cost, just like ours do.

I'm not a big fan of eye-spy, which will be involved in every quest. So to me, this game is not really a good value of my money or time. That said, we are playing, we will have fun, but I still think $75 a team is insanely high.

You're coming across bitter that you can't be there - that you were told incorrect information (that was subject to change), booked a trip and now can't play. Maybe that isn't your intention but that is how you came across in this post.

innerSpaceman 07-31-2007 08:37 AM

Oh, ok, CP ... I'll restrict all my comments about Disney to happy talk, postivism and praise.

I promise to get permission from Mickey Lumbo before I go all negative on Disney again, ok? :p

Now - we're going to kick your butts.

How's that?

Procedurally, it's fine. Factually, I'm afraid it's a bit lacking, as we are clearly going to kick *YOUR* butts. It's on my calendar.

Oh, and prepare for it to be an unseasonably warm October. You've seen what I can do with November (90 degrees!) -- now see what I can do nearly one month earlier!

I think it is still a per person cap, but they aren't doing a wait list. I'd shoot an email over to AVP.

katiesue 08-08-2007 08:26 AM

People have asked that Ponine - the and the answer was no I believe. Once registration is closed it's closed. If you pulled out before registration was over then yes. And last time registration closed in 6 days.

Is anyone going to the $20 extra "Mixer."

After the tedium of last year, I'm not even really planning on going to the awards ceremony till an hour after it begins. Or is this "Mixer" the thing that wastes that hour?

Nope. At least 2 of us are leaving right after to go to the Ducks game.

Prudence 08-08-2007 09:56 AM

Those who don't want to go to the mixer are welcome to coordinate something with us. We have a room in the hotel and everything. There could be cake, even. Or not. If people didn't want to stray too far away from the awards ceremony or whatever. Or BT and I will just take naps.

The Denton Affair doesn't, but that doesn't mean that the pricing isn't insane for the others (which is entirely Disney's fault). I really hope that it works out for teams that show up after the expensive ice cream, because that's what I'll be doing next time if this is going to be how it works. I know at the end of my race I have to eat something, but it's not sweets I look for...

Still mad we're not going grumble grumble

innerSpaceman 08-09-2007 06:50 AM

And, no, the fact that the hour waiting for results was incredibly stupid and boring is NOT Disney's fault. MouseAdventure could have learned from its mistakes and either a) go back to giving everyone their much-desired post-game dinner break, or b) making that hour more entertaining without charging $20 for it.Frankly, it looks to me like MouseAdventure is trying to capture the post-game food market ... rather clerver, but insideous.

Cadaverous Pallor 08-09-2007 07:22 AM

I haven't been to the Pad this time around but in previous postings it seems many people DO want a social gathering between game and results. Also, who knows what kind of new requirements Disney is placing on MA. Remember when they were forced to have the dinner at Big Thunder Arena? In any case, I'm not assuming that MousePlanet is gouging anyone, because that's never been the case. Their prices have always moved with Disney's lashings of the whip. Unless you don't believe them, and then, well, believe what you want.

katiesue 08-09-2007 09:05 AM

I thought it was great that the $20 mixer thing was OPTIONAL. If you thought it would be worth it pay it, if not then no biggie come back after for the results. We're going to check it out this time. Then we'll see going forward.

For a lot of teams, mine included, MouseAdventure isn't just day long event. It's an entire weekend to hang out and have fun (mostly leaving the kids at home). For the other half of my team this is their grown-up getaway. They never get to go to dinner or a movie or a show. So even though the costs have gone up it's still worth it to us to have our adult fun time.

innerSpaceman 08-09-2007 09:49 AM

Just my opinion, but what would have been nicer ... and come off less like gouging ... would be to have the Mixer, with the Koenig "entertainment" provided gratis (as part of your $75 registration fee), and refreshments offered for profit sales.

That way, socializing could be part of the already-paid-for experience, the hour of waiting for results could be improved at no additional cost, and Disney and MousePlanet could share plenty of profit on food and drink purchased, optionally, by participants

katiesue 08-09-2007 09:58 AM

But the way it generally works for space rentals is that you have to purchase the overpriced food from Disney (or whomever you're renting from). They completly jack the price up and they usually charge per/person. If you had cookies out and were charging $5 each no one would be buying them. Then MP would have to either eat the cost or add it into the registration fees.

I actually think this was a good compromise.

Stan4dSteph 08-09-2007 10:10 AM

Exactly.

Katiesue, I hope you have a good time at the mixer. It sounds like David Koenig has some fun stuff planned! :)

I really really want to come to MA, but I'm not sure if I can fit it in. I've got a lot going on this fall.

Kevy Baby 08-09-2007 10:24 AM

Heck, they should just make the whole thing for free - no one should be allowed to make any money of of my fun!

innerSpaceman 08-09-2007 10:58 AM

Jeebus, I'm just tired of things that used to be free costing money because some greedy people (not accusing MousePlanet alone) want to make money off of stuff they used to provide for free.

We're all dickwads, by the way, for buying so much water. The free water from our taps is better than 98% of bottled water sold.

Disney charges $2 a bottle for the "Dasani" water that is simply the tap water offered free from not-enough fountains put in plastic bottles made from petroleum.

Not Afraid 08-09-2007 11:03 AM

Steve, why is it you just cannot be positive about things? MA is fun and a bunch of us are going to have fun doing it. $75 is NOTHING. Not a big deal. These arguments just seems like unwarranted distraction to me - especially coming from you who doesn't have to pay for the event.

innerSpaceman 08-09-2007 11:15 AM

That's why is important for ME to speak for principled standards. If I were paying, my gripes could seem like self-interest. I have no such self-interest. I play for FREE.

So when the price of the complete event runs $95 - sure it's less expensive than a pair of shoes - but it's alarming to me nonetheless - and the curmudgeon in me feels compelled to point out that if they sell out at a hundred per team, it will be a hundred fifty next time. Mark my curmudgeonly words.

And we'll have to play mouseadventure in the snow.

barefoot.

The logistics of keeping those who paid for food and those who didn't would be a nightmare. Yes, you could use bracelets to identify who is who but served buffet style what is to stop the people who paid from giving food to those who didn't?

It's a nice idea that for those who want a mixer after the event that they have the choice to pay for and attend. We all saw what [was perceived by quite a few people] a disaster the last mixer was. How many of us were irritated that we weren't told the awards weren't starting for an hour after the mixer started? Now we are given the chance to pay to attend the mixer, or do our own thing and show up for the awards.

While *I* feel that $75 is a lot for a team (even broken down as it is) I still choose to play. And I know that MA costs a lot of money to run. This year there we have to leave right after MA - missing the mixer and the awards. I doubt I'd do the dessert mixer in the future because after running around playing MA the last thing I want to do is eat a bunch of sugar (except that one time when all we did was lounge around the Animation building and eat pixie stix).

MouseAdventure will never again be the intimate event that it was. In a way it's sad and it sucks. But we have to make the most of what we have. Because I have a feeling, that before long it will become too cost prohibitive.

Not Afraid 08-09-2007 11:19 AM

Sorry, but this curmudgeon is more of a wet blanket. Please don't be a drag. You can be IN Drag if you want. That would be different.

Kevy Baby 08-09-2007 11:20 AM

While I have not participated in in MA for a few years, it sounds to me (as an outsider) that

A) It is a better event than it used to be (I remember the awards ceremony in the picnic area where they would even allow Alex to use a bullhorn).
B) I wonder if there even would be a MA any more. Disney is not a charity. Also, they have legal obligations that they need to protect (to prevent being sued - I think we all know what a litigious society we have become). I do not fault the Mouse for protecting their interests.

Stan4dSteph 08-09-2007 11:21 AM

FYI, for those traveling in from out of town who might not have seen the information at the bottom of the MouseAdventure page, there are a limited number of hotel rooms at lower rates:
Quote:

Hotels – For those teams that wish to plan a mini-vacation around MouseAdventure, we have negotiated a 20% discount at the Howard Johnson Hotel in the Anaheim Resort (just across Harbor Boulevard from Disneyland). This rate is valid October 12 – 15. You must make your reservations by calling the in-house reservation line (714-776-6120, ext. 640), and mention "MouseAdventure" when you book. Note: The central Howard Johnson reservation line can not make reservations with this discount. If the in-house reservation center is busy or closed, your call may be routed to the central reservation line, so you will need to try again later.

Teams may also receive discounted rates at the three Disneyland Resort Hotels:

* Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel: $189.00 per night
* Disneyland Hotel: $209.00 per night
* Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa: $279.00 per night

Rates quoted above do not include the Resort fee and applicable taxes. Rooms are extremely limited, and you should make your reservations as soon as possible. You must book directly through Disney, using the contact information below, and tell the operator that you are attending the MousePlanet event to obtain these rates. The Paradise Pier Hotel will be the most convenient hotel for teams participating in MouseAdventure.

innerSpaceman 08-09-2007 12:34 PM

Wow, it's a good thing my teammate noticed that Masters Teams also have to register before space expires, otherwise they're S.O.L.

That's the first time this has been required. Um, I don't know why that's necessary. Yes, here's another complaint: What, a couple of lanyards need to be made, and four more xeroxes run?? I don't get it.

Besides, two of the Masters Teams have now turned to the dark side (i.e, staff and/or beta-testing), and the other two have never missed a game. Since no Masters Team has EVER not participated ... I think they can rely on that assumption.

Ok, whatever. That's another new wrinkle that won't kill me.

But for every memory Kevy has of Alex being denied the use of a bull-horn, I have five of him using the bullhorn in the picnic area with no problems.

Now I'm getting all misty-eyed for the days when the awards were given out at Carnation Gardens inside the Park. Le Sigh.

And, for the record, trashing Disney and MP costs is all the trash-talking I can do in this thread. The days of my team creaming everyone else are long over.

There is a capacity limit on the facilities.

I think last year they said it was a 500 people capacity. That is why there is also no additions to the teams after space is full.

Not true, we missed a game before (for Paris, I think) and now we're missing another game. And like GD said, the room has a capacity.

innerSpaceman 08-09-2007 02:47 PM

Eh, reading a few curmudgeon posts won't do anyone any more harm than having to register in time like the rest of the paying customers.

Oh, and bottled water wasn't unrelated. It's my chosen example of a thing most people now pay for, that they used to get for free. With the added irony that they can still get the same thing for free.

Ghoulish Delight 08-09-2007 03:05 PM

Yeah, the free market sucks.

innerSpaceman 08-09-2007 04:16 PM

Well, it sucks for the nimrods who are born every minute, and I guess it's great for the corporations which bottle tap water and charge two bucks a pop for it.

Actually, the unregulated free market sucks quite a bit. Ours is not regulated enough. There needs to be checks and balances. Finally, there's a balance to Pepsi's bottling of tap water ... a court has ruled they have to put on the label of Aquafina that it's nothing but bottled tap water. Then we'll see if customers buy it. That's the free market.

Alex 08-09-2007 06:44 PM

Yes, they will. Most people don't buy bottled water because of its magical properties but because of its convenience.

If Disneyland sold bottled water from a cart right next to a drinking fountain where you got to watch the clerk fill the bottle from a hose attached to said fountain I would still buy the water because I want cold water in smallish sips when I'm 25 minutes into the Big Thunder queue a lot more than I want to suck down as much as I can hold whenever I happen to be near a drinking fountain.

€uroMeinke 08-09-2007 09:01 PM

I blame the children who pee and puke in the drinking fountains - their part of a vast corporate conspiracy to poison the things we hold most dear, our precious bodily fluids!

BarTopDancer 08-09-2007 10:03 PM

From AVP -

There are exactly 5 spots left, which either means one 4-person team or one 2- and one 3-person team.

Not yet.

Cadaverous Pallor 08-10-2007 08:52 AM

I'm sure they can get larger and larger gathering spaces as they feel they can achieve those levels. I can't imagine the army of staff they'll need if it keeps growing at this rate.

innerSpaceman 08-10-2007 09:29 AM

Ok, well is the idea of taking a giant group photo finally over??

Not Afraid 08-10-2007 09:32 AM

ISM's goal for each day is to find something nasty to say about MA. ;)

How about "The sky is falling!"?

innerSpaceman 08-10-2007 10:26 AM

They said they were going to stop doing the group photo, and I was wondering if that's still the plan.

Hey, I discovered Paradise Pier has a pool slide during the last photo! It wasn't all a ridiculously ill-conceived logistical nightmare.

You know, to me, its funny you ask that.
Thats always been one of the highlights for me of the MA day.
Sure, its crowded, and hot, and the sun us in your eyes, but I love it.

Its the only time all day I get to see how many people are actually playing.
Not everyone shows to awards, I've skipped more than once because I knew I didnt place above 50.
(I placed best the second time I ever played. 13th. I've never again come close)

But still, I get to see the people, the teams the costumes, and Lani whom I adore from afar.
Oh and Stitch, cant forget Stitch.

innerSpaceman 10-15-2007 07:35 AM

Yeah, it was a really fun game this time. Katiesue and Swanie & Co. sure mastered the time warp necessary to do all the quests in the alloted time, and mustered the talent to get them all right. Awesomeness.

Nemo & Co. featuring LoTs of other swankers, had a real hit on their hands with their Martime Accident Informercial in the Mascot Competition. Very well done.

The visual nature of an "eye-spy" based game was exactly the type of MouseAdventure fun I enjoy most. So even though my team did, well, pathetically ... it didn't feel that way as we were playing. We had a great time. Fun day.

katiesue 10-15-2007 07:40 AM

Thanks everyone! We had so much fun in this one. And a great time seeing and hanging out with everyone all weekend.

Nemo & Nemo's mascot presentation was just brilliant.

And thanks to BTD and Pru for all the fun smack talking - for once I can actually back it up ;)

swanie 10-15-2007 08:56 AM

Thank you everyone! We had such a blast hanging out with everyone this weekend and playing the game.

I told a few of you last night, we had a funny moment during the announcing of the winners. As Andrew started with the third place winner, Katiesue turned to me and said "What did we screw up so badly? We must have screwed something up." Second place finisher announced and she starts "Man, we must have really screwed something up. What quest did we screw up?" I finally turned to her and said, "Well, maybe we won" to which I got a Oh yeah right...you're off your f$%@$%g rocker look. Who knew? :D

But honestly, after the game I told Katiesue and Mr. Swanie that regardless of how we did, we really got our money's worth. It is just icing on top that we actually won. Kuddos go out to the MA Staff for putting on a really fun, tight, well thought out game.

We'll see you all in April!

And finally ........ Pru's Alice ride.

NirvanaMan 10-15-2007 09:42 AM

I am quite jealous of all who got to play. It's been a year now for me. Hopefully I can assemble a crack team by next spring.

Many congrats to Katie Sue et all...

Not Afraid 10-15-2007 09:58 AM

This was one of the best MA's I've ever played. We didn't win anything and I have no idea how we did overall, but it was so much fun! Trivia and eye spys! My favorite elements. Pru was brilliant in the Tomorrowland quest (and overall). She had the "question" figured out after finding only 2 of the eye spys. We wasted some time on an element that had been removed - and I think that effected us overall. That was my stupid fault.

It was a really good game!

The interesting thing was that I hardly knew any of the participants. But we DID know the advanced winners! CONGRATULATONS TO KATIESUE, SWANIE AND MR. SWANIE!

BarTopDancer 10-15-2007 10:16 AM

Congratulations to Katie Sue, Swanie and Mr. Swanie!

This was one of the most fun events. We finished quite a few quests this time. The Tomorrowland was awesome. We finished that with the Star Tours and Autopia pieces.

Not Afraid 10-15-2007 10:23 AM

OK, here's a recap of our mascot presentation.

Pru was going to make a felted octopus as our mascot, but she only finished the head and one leg. We wernt going to do anything with but I figured we should at least bring it. So we quickly stuffed it and sewed it's one leg on.

As we were sitting in the ballroom in the morning, I came up with the idea to do an infomercial for our firm a la "Larry H Parker". Our octopus, Octavius Octo was our client "spokesperson" who had was injured in a maritime accident and was now a Septapallegic.

So, Pru did the whole "have you been injured in a maritime accident? Nemo and Nemo can help you" (it was brilliant) and the whole room was laughing. After the initial spiel, I spoke for Octo and said "Nemo and Nemo got me 3 million clams", then Pru closed the spiel.

We came pretty close to winning, but the "Year of a Million Churos" got a bit more audience support. I would imagine they might know a few more people then we did.

After they won, we yelled "APPEAL". ;)

innerSpaceman 10-15-2007 11:27 AM

Hahahah, and when the "Mouse Adventure Staff Appreciation" Team won 1st place, I started yelling "The Fix is In!" and "Rigged" - - before I realized it was katiesue and Swanie's team!

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 10-15-2007 02:02 PM

Congrats to the MASA -

I had fun playing this year - I enjoyed the eye-spy's. There was so much "I know where that is -I know I've seen that before - and what the hell is that?"

My team with no name is awaiting our score - although it seems the scores seemed pretty "low" compared to the "out of" numbers.

Great pics Katie-Sue!

Heheh, we've chucked our winning strategy of playing as little of the game as possible in order to get the right result, in favor of playing as much of the game as possible until completely stymied, and then using the more-than-needed info to get the right result.

We are scoring more poorly, but I think enjoying the quests more. We like it this way.

Plus, yeah, we were never that fast ... and relied on on-the-go trivia to pump up our scores.

We were 9th out of 52 in the Advanced Division! Whoo hoo!!!

libraryvixen 10-17-2007 10:27 PM

Thanks for the link NA!! I'm so proud of my team! It was my teammate's first time and the first time (in quite a while) for me!

17 out of 111!! Hooray!

Stan4dSteph 10-18-2007 06:58 AM

Recap is here

Photo albums (including candids) here

innerSpaceman 10-18-2007 08:02 AM

Wow, congrats to Nemo & Co, NA, €, Pru and Mr. Pru for cracking the top ten! Awesome.

OMG, my namesake crew, Team Zlick, came in at No. 6. Woo Hoo! Apparently, I've transferred my mojo to them. The NAME is Powerful.

Ok, my team came in 27th. Ouch. If that's not the worst we've ever done, I don't know what is. Um, we had the most fun. K-Sarah.

I love that there's a team called "Brother Bear Who?" and that they came in 10th.

Our very own zapppop and Gemini Cricket, in this season's line-up of Superstar Losers, dropped to 41st. It's good to have company plummeting from the heights of past glory!

katiesue 10-18-2007 09:44 AM

Congrats Nemo & Nemo!

swanie 10-18-2007 09:45 AM

We were a little nervous since we've had a 1st place finish taken away before, but since now we're official...

WE WON!!!!

I feel better now! :D

yes, but I was crouched on the ground on the far side of Euro so as to not distract folks... I dont think Pru and I ever actually made eye contact.

Now, had she tried to silence the pirates, she would have seen me.

Capt Jack 10-18-2007 12:48 PM

is it bad that I cant envision myself fanboi enough to make up,rehearse and sing....let alone sing as a chorus...an MA song?

katiesue 10-18-2007 04:19 PM

Congrats to Borneio's team on their 6th place basic division finish!

Ponine 10-18-2007 04:39 PM

I was informed that my 7th place in Family was a big deal... even though I lost the element that made me a "family" team. ie: the 9 yr old

but I am NOT bragging about 7th out of 28th.
Since it would have put us at 54th in basic. But I digress.

You forgot awinner. We overlooked a few details and it cost us. We'll see what happens next time. I'm not upset how we did. I had fun. I AM annoyed that our team photo was digitally censored. Bah!

Isn't that a tradition with your team shirts?

I've been meaning to ask ... if you didn't ride the Jungle Cruise, how did you decide which Bull Elephant to put first?
(We had to base our correct answer on the surrounding foliage.)

Fun game though. Eh, I've won enough times. I like having fun. (There were a couple of games we won that we did not enjoy.)

* * * *

So extra congrats to Borneio, who is currently in DisneyWorld I believe.

No knocks to Katiesue and Swanie who did come in first. I'm not putting that down. It's frelling awesome.

And sorry I left out awinner as a superstar loser (but, um, he never posts here).

I heard what you had on your shirts, and it was completely inappropriate.

innerSpaceman 10-18-2007 07:02 PM

Only if you were at a place likely to have a lot of 5th graders around.

oh .... wait.

(P.S. Libby Lou is more inappropriate for kids ... and it's set up shop in bloody Downtown Disney)

Not Afraid 10-18-2007 07:03 PM

I'm surprised they let you into DL with those shirts. Did Andrew tell you what was said to him as we were leaving TJ's?

And, as much as I think Libby Lou is inappropriate it isn't quite as overt as the shirts are.

innerSpaceman 10-18-2007 07:05 PM

I think that was Brad. And I think he almost got beat up.

The Shirts are a Success!

Stan4dSteph 10-18-2007 07:15 PM

I fail to see the humor in that. It's disgusting.

Not Afraid 10-18-2007 07:24 PM

No, it was Andrew. I was walking with him at the time.

Success is now gaged by how inappropriate you can be? Punk Rock at least did this with a bit of originality. ;)

innerSpaceman 10-18-2007 07:51 PM

Yes, but you WILL recall, I trust, that Punk Rock did it. That, as young people, punks were just as "inappropriately" in the face of whatever was holy and sacred ... and were just as out to shock, outrage, spark insensitive humor, and piss people off as the T-Shirt-Hell-wearing Hellsters of MouseAdventure.

Isaac 10-18-2007 07:55 PM

You don't have to defend me from an aging goth and closeted lesbian iSm.

:)

Not Afraid 10-18-2007 07:57 PM

LOL! TRY HARDER.

mousepod 10-18-2007 08:00 PM

I have no idea what the offending shirt said, but I remember the punk rock days. When the "real" punks set out to shock and piss off, they didn't do it three times a year, they actually were rejecting (or thought they were rejecting) the things they were mocking. You can't play shock factor in Disneyland at MA and Gay Day and then be a fanboy the rest of the year. It's like being a varsity athlete in high school and then making fun of alums at homecoming. Silly.

blueerica 10-18-2007 08:57 PM

Idon'tgetit.

Well, I don't see the necessity of being authentic. Certainly it's a virtue, but it's not a necessary part of artistic human existence.

I, for instance, was hardly the hard-core punk at heart, but often dressed like one.;)

It's a shirt.

It doesn't have to be a way of life. :iSm:

Isaac 10-18-2007 09:27 PM

...but it's a shirt.
Shirts don't lie ;)

I had a fun time.
We wasted too much time in the Esplanade.
Oh well.
:)

innerSpaceman 10-19-2007 12:22 PM

Even I wanted to beat G.C. up when I read that shirt. Oh My God, How Could You?!?!

(Of course, if anyone took the Nemo & Nemo, LLC shirts to mean the wears were real lawyers, their asses would have been kicked long before they arrived at TJ's.)

If I hadn't, your post would have read:
Ha ha, G.C. was too chicken to wear his shirt. Loosen up!

 :D

innerSpaceman 10-19-2007 04:42 PM

So .... if zapppop asked you to jump off a bridge?

I guess that depends on whether or not you'd badger him for whatever choice he made.

Ignore him GC :)

Gemini Cricket 10-19-2007 05:27 PM

I wonder if I should try MouseAdventure Basic. Maybe the advanced level is too advanced...

innerSpaceman 10-19-2007 05:34 PM

Pulease. I'm thinking of doing Basic next time.

When I looked at the result scores, at first I was all excited because my team's 440 score put us in 5th place ...

.... of the Family Division.

D'oh!

Isaac 10-19-2007 08:50 PM

So bring your daughter.
She's old enough to play ;)

innerSpaceman 10-20-2007 11:59 AM

Hurruph, I hear that over on MousePad, in their recap thread, AVP is lauding Brother Bear as the Best MouseAdventure Team in History, because they have four first place wins.

I've half a mind to go over there for my annual post, and remind her that The Denton Affair also has Four First Place Wins (plus two Seconds and a Third), and that out-of-competition play does not count. Um, it's frelling out of competition.

Brother Bear and The Denton Affair are tied for most first place wins. They will have an opportunity to finally beat our long-standing record at the next Super Duper Enchanted Whatever. But until then, with our multiple winner's circle places ... and NEVER scoring outside the winner's circle until we were forcibly retired to give someone else a chance to win ... The Denton Affair remains The Best MouseAdventure Team in History.

That is all.

CoasterMatt 10-20-2007 12:17 PM

Those people would have REALLY freaked at some of my shirts...

Prudence 10-20-2007 02:26 PM

Now I have my new goal - I've beaten The Denton Affair; now I must beat the Brothers Bear. It will happen.

innerSpaceman 10-20-2007 03:08 PM

In fact ..... hmmmm.... would it be unsportsmanlike if I were to offer a reward for the team that beats Brother Bear???

Not Afraid 10-20-2007 03:13 PM

Well, since YOUR team seems pretty easy to beat, offering up a REAL challenge doesn't seem so awful. ;)

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 10-31-2007 05:19 PM

Wow - looks like my team got 6th place. Not too shabby. :)
