Pinkberry!

Is anybody as addicted as I am?

Usually, I'm a total loner when it comes to super-trendy places that create a circus of hype. Krispy Kreme? I'll never understand you. I'm not a fan of doughnuts, but once in a blue moon when I do try one? It's Winchells or independent shops all the way. In-N-Out? You do have tasty burgers I suppose, and I would choose you before any other drive-thru burger, but not enough to justify that endless line that wraps around the block at all hours. I'm not a burger fan, but Bob's Big Boy has one kick-ass burger. What is it that I don't "get" about these places? I feel left out.:(

Pinkberry, however, is amazing. Simple, bare bones and completely heavenly! They serve only two flavors, original & green tea. The original has a slightly sour sweet taste (almost like Knudsen vanilla yogurt). The fruit toppings are incredible. My blueberries were so plump and sweet! They would burst on my tongue! Their fruit is like candy. It's as if you have assorted Jolly Ranchers topping your yogurt.

Mmm...I want it for dinner. Has anybody else tried Pinkberry? My late best friend's niece works at one and tells me that she has customers who don't necessarily love the taste, but still admit they can't get enough. (I'm waiting for the inevitable nay-sayers who will post that it's overpriced & sucks like nobody's business. The Board wouldn't be the same without you. :p ;) )

And for your viewing pleasure..

I've never been to Pinkberry ... but I am the most excited, because a brand new one is opening mere footsteps from my office. If I become addicted, I will be able to feed my Jones whenever I want.

Heheh, it's opening a few doors down from a brand new Pink Taco restaurant. Thanks to a thread here a while back, I'll never be able to think of that name as innocuously as I once did ... but they've got great Mexican food and fantastic margaritas.

We should have a New Pink Swanking in Century City sometime soon.

 Oh, maybe the day of the Pink Martini concert! We can have lunch at Pink Taco, desert at Pinkberry, and suppertime picnic and music at the Pink Martini Hollywood Bowl show!

Um, perfection doesn't come more perfect than that!! :snap:

AllyOops! 07-27-2007 01:19 PM

Oooh!!! Can I come? Can I wear pink???? That's so up my alley (or rather, "ally")! :snap:

You'll love it, iSm! Please let me know what you think! :)

Chernabog 07-27-2007 01:55 PM

I've been a pinkberry fan since the 1/2 hour lines in the ONE ORIGNAL LOCATION in West Hollywood. There's a whole story about that which is pretty fascinating:

The Taste that Launched A Thousand Parking Tickets (LA times article)

Now there are a bunch so, less lines. There's one walking distance from my office (in Koreatown, of course!). Yes, it rocks rocks rocks. We get it at least once a week (usually more like twice a week). It's deeeeelicious!

Although there's all this debate about what it really is . I still think they need a commercial with a white background a la the mac ads, having "real" people guess what Pinkberry is, and right in the middle Charleton Heston says "PINKBERRY IS PEOPLE!!!!!!!" ;) Now that's some frozen bliss right there.

blueerica 07-27-2007 03:14 PM

I've never heard of it before, but I am soooo down with trying some!

LSPoorEeyorick 07-27-2007 03:21 PM

Erica, there's one down the street. We'll go after lunch!

blueerica 07-27-2007 03:29 PM

YAY!

blueerica 07-27-2007 03:29 PM

I can't believe I didn't know that!!!

AllyOops! 07-27-2007 03:32 PM

I'm off to Pinkberry tonight! I'm really torn between an original with fruit or trying the shaved ice:

http://www.pinkberry.com/html/product_3.html

How insanely unique & delicious does that sound and look?

blueerica 07-27-2007 04:53 PM

OK - Yum!!!

Pinkberry is AWESOME!

innerSpaceman 07-27-2007 05:11 PM

I want it NOW!

(Do they have beanfeast flavor?)

Not Afraid 07-27-2007 05:32 PM

While I like Pinkberry, there a competing place called Peachberry which I like even better. The yogurt isn't as grainy and a bit tarter. It's delish.

innerSpaceman 07-27-2007 05:41 PM

Hmmm, Peachberry now, and maybe the tarter Pinkberry for later?

Or Peachberry later, and tarter for now???

€uroMeinke 07-27-2007 06:06 PM

Can we work a visit to Pinks in on our pinkfest extravaganza?

I've yet to sample pink or peachberry - but NA has pointed them out to me

blueerica 07-27-2007 06:15 PM

Well, what I liked about Pinkberry is that it was so grainy. I think they blend ice into it, or something - making it totally different. It almost tasted like a creamy yogurt soda all frozen and whipped together in tasty goodness. Plus, I didn't realize I was eating something that was so low in calorie. I don't feel guilty one bit!

But Peachberry... must try.

mousepod 07-27-2007 06:40 PM

This is the first I've ever heard of Pinkberry... I'm looking forward to checking it out... sounds yummy!

Babette 07-28-2007 01:45 AM

I peeked into Pinkberry in Long Beach last week, but the line was too long (and I was munching on a treat from the Frosted Cupcakery). Will have to go some other time. My friends tells me I must try Yogurtland. I think they are like Pinkberry but offer more yogurt flavors.

Stan4dSteph 07-28-2007 06:45 AM

Has anyone tried Red Mango? There was a news piece on the explosion of yogurt places in LA lately. I didn't realize frozen yogurt was trendy again.

RStar 07-28-2007 07:38 AM

There is also a Kiwiberry knock off.

I just wish there was a Pinkberry in Orange County. I think it would be great in DtD! The one in Belmont Shore is the closest (Babette- sorry, it's not Long Beach ;) ).

It sounds great!

AllyOops! 07-28-2007 03:02 PM

You guys, I'm so excited that everybody, including myself, enjoy Pinkberry so much! I haven't heard of Peach or Kiwiberry, but they sound tasty! Has anybody tried Cantaloop? I hear Golden Spoon is the bomb also, but I have yet to try it even though I'm always passing it!

I had Pinkberry last night. Total tastebud heaven! I had an original topped with blueberries, kiwi fruit & fresh coconut shavings. Yum yum yum!! Even my boyfriend is gettin' in to it. We've been going nightly.

Fro-yo is making a comeback? I love it! I remember the yogurt explosion in the '80's. Do you know we still have a Penguins in the San Fernando Valley? I thought they had all disappeared!

blueerica 07-28-2007 03:10 PM

I really want some more now. Badly.

Yes, I think Pink's is now slotted for the after-Bowl late-night snack.

I don't know if we can fit any other pink in, but keep those cards and letters coming, boys and girls. It's going to be quite the Pink Swank.

Pink Taco, Pinkberry, Pink Martini, Pink's.

That song by US3? I used to love that song, but I haven't heard it in a long time.

Pink Taco, Pinkberry, Pink Martini, Pink's.

Does this mean we should all wear pink to this event?

BarTopDancer 09-16-2007 11:59 AM

We went to the one on 2nd street last night. I think Golden Spoon is better.

Seriously trendy again. The 80s are back for fashion and the 90s are back for food. I wish Penguins would come back though.

Disneyphile 03-09-2008 07:46 PM

Had to revive this, since I finally got to try it today. OMG.

I love plain yogurt, and used to eat plain frozen yogurt all the time at a local small cafe when I was a kid, so it brought back a lot of memories. Ken wasn't all that thrilled though, mainly because he was expecting it to be sweet.

I have found a new dessert love. :D

wolfy999 03-09-2008 08:21 PM

Better than the Italian Ices on Harbor?

wendybeth 03-09-2008 08:36 PM

Was Ally there? I miss her!

Yeah, where is Ally???

I went to Pinkberry for the first time last week. They opened one at Bellatera in HB which is real close to where I work in HB. I thought it was pretty good. Not addicting to me, but good. I had the original flavor to start with, I will give the others a try.

About equal, really. When I'm wanting ices and ice cream, Joe's is the way to go. But, Pinkberry's yogurt is just phenomenal, especially when I don't want something sweet, but cold. :)

Snowflake 03-10-2008 07:36 AM

Sigh, none up here in the northern part of the state.
Ticking mental checklist for next SoCal visit.

Moonliner 03-10-2008 07:53 AM

In a shocking development....

We here on the bitter east coast do not have access to Pinkberry.

My entire knowledge on the matter is that they have a Plum card from American express, one of the initial batch to 10,000 cards.

They have locations in New York.

Moonliner 03-10-2008 08:05 AM

New York eh? Those bastards get everything.

So how do these things really rate? As a service to those of us without access to these tasty treats, Please put the following in order of preference:

Pinkberry
Orange Julius
Fresh Squeezed OJ
Dole Whip
Sex
Slurpee's

Papaya King trumps them all... except maybe sex.

BarTopDancer 03-10-2008 08:50 AM

There are a few Pinkberry imitators popping up. I can't think of the names off the top of my head - but I've seen them around.

LSPoorEeyorick 03-10-2008 09:55 AM

Peachberry, pearberry, iceberry...

cirquelover 03-11-2008 10:30 AM

I've never tried one, I doubt they have them in Oregon.

I miss Miss Ally.
